sadly for oreo we cannot just install overlay apk anymore to make it work.
options are:
1. install overlay apk (and reboot) then do some adb things to cmd overlay enable it (need plug to pc)
2. have samsung theme that hide this panel.
3. use substratum (and paid andromeda) and have some subs dev to make this hide sim panel (need plug to pc)
i hate oreo for this. maybe just me, but oreo sucks compared to easy theming in rootless nougat.
edit: here's reference to option 1: (need to edit bat file and change apk name)

aaa.quicksettings.hidepanel is not present in sytem apps?
it means applying this overlay to non system app is useless

Thanks, i downloaded adb tools on my windows and test adb devices commend on cmd and it works perfectly.
Now i need to know which commend i have to type to apply the layer or i need to do something else?

you need aaa.quicksetting.hidesimpanel.apk and then
Refer to this post how they apply layers in oreo https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76109441&postcount=4357

[app][Root][plugin][liveview] Reboot Plugin

This is my first android plugin for the sony ericsson Liveview
It has some Rooted-Phone-Only features that are watch-sided User-Interface only, its features are
-Reboot System (or a normal reboot basicly)
-Reboot Recovery
-Reboot Bootloader (if phone compatible, otherwise it will most likely reboot into system)
-Power Off
This app uses on-screen words when you move the left and right border touchpad area(s) to switch between the options then hit select to reboot/power off to the option on the screen, nothing more, nothing less
**note** after the phone is rebooted u WILL need to re-sync your liveview (as a reboot stops the bluetooth connection of course, not to mention a power off)

its under "power off", sorry for the confusion
Hmmmm not working for me. I hit the reboot icon, the liveview screen goes off for a second, then turns back on with the reboot icon (plugin), as if nothing happens. No change to liveview or phone.

This bug is also on my second device (Arc S). I think i know what is wrong. Reboot a phone needs root acess. But my phone does not ask me, wheter I want to give the plug-in root acess. Has your phone ask you, wheter you want to give the acess (superuser/superSU)
@jkok: is it possible to add a Action-button, in the Plug-in-Preferences on Phone, which enables the rootacess without the liveview? Also there could be a Test Button, which shutdowns the phone for testing.

sorry ive been busy doing some things in the family lately ill look into these problems, and if i can ill add a check superuser button, so be patient ok?
The strange thing is, that it works on my Arc s, (SU question after clicking reboot on Liveview), but it does work on Xperia Play (no SU question). Both on ICS. But it works well on arc. Great work!

ok new version is uploaded, i couldn't add a setting to check, but i have it now to check (and send request if not granted/denied) every time the app opens, and/or onCreate()'d. hopefully this will help better then when the function is initiated (e.g hit select after reboot option is visible)

Thanks! glad to have helped, its one of the simpleist apps ive done tbh it just runs in android's shell (with root permissions, or else it would have to be a system app to reboot, only with different code then i used) so the way i did it you dont need it to be a system app, but requires rooted phone.
P.S. Thanks for bumping this the overall downloads went from 23 all the way to 98 since u posted 0.0... lol

Message preview in notification/status bar missing after Marshmallow update

I no longer get previews of my text messages scrolling through my status bar since I updated to android 6.0.1 via ota update (stock rom). In Messages > More > Settings > Notifications the option "Preview Messages" is On. Pop-up notifications is off, I don't like those but I do like getting a preview in my status bar. Is this feature gone? I also poked around in the advanced notification settings and didn't find a setting for it.
even this issue happens for other apps such as whatsapp, telegram and ...
I think it has to do something with overlay permissions, try searching it in settings...
These settings enable apps like FB Messenger to appear on your screen as a "bubble".
---------- Post added at 08:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 PM ----------
sorry misread
Thanks for your answering, but i have changed this setting before this.
The problem is existing until now
I have the same problem. After android update I no longer can see message preview on top of the scren. Before an update, whenever I was getting a text, app/game I was using, was 'shrinking' on top of the screen and I saw who sent a message and what was in it. Now I only see an envelope on top of the screen and that's it. It's incredibly annoying cause before I knew if I had to respond to a text immediately or if it could wait. Now I need to swipe the screen from the top to see who texted me. Any advice?
Nothing
It seems there is not any solution to this annoying problem, i surf all the internet but nothing found.
If you want you can get preview to be written in status bar like in 4.4 kitkat, i did that to my phone, no heads up, but i can see preview
Thats great
Oh yes, i absolutly want that, please tell me how its possible,
Best regards

Hey man, no you don't need root (i think) you can try it is just 1 minute job.
Now that you have done that connect your phone to a pc using a cable, run CMD as administrator on your PC, and type adb devices
There should be some sort of numbers and next to them "device"
After you can see your device just type
adb shell settings put global heads_up_notifications_enabled 0
wait 10 seconds and restart phone
Edit: this may not work on marshmallow but you can try

[EXP] Verizon Pixel/Pixel 2 (& XL) Potential Bootloader Unlock Method

Since Android O implements a mechanism for us to "overlay" frameworks values via OMS, I thought maybe we could leverage that to find a way to disable the OEM unlock check that block Verizon Pixels from unlocking the bootloader.
For science, let's do an experiment If this works, then great, we have a bootloader unlock method for our Verizon brethren. If not, at least the APK is easy to uninstall.
Before proceeding, be advised that any experiments performed here may result in unforeseen consequences. By proceeding, you agree that neither I nor anyone else will be held responsible for said consequences, and that this will solely be at your own risk. Since this experiment applies only to Verizon phones, assume all warranties are null and void.
Prerequisites:
- Verizon Pixel/Pixel 2/XL
- Android OS updated to 8.1.0
- USB debugging enabled on the phone
- ADB installed and properly configured on your PC
- USB-C to USB-A cable (unless you have a USB C port on your PC, then you can use a C-to-C cable instead)
How to enable the experiment:
Download the attached APK
Sideload the APK
Open Command Prompt/PowerShell/Terminal, and type in "adb shell"
Type in "cmd overlay list" and hit enter
Confirm that "[ ] com.pixeloembypass" is in the list
Type in "cmd overlay enable com.pixeloembypass", and hit enter
Reboot the phone
Go into Developer Options to see if "OEM unlocking" can now be toggled on. If so, congratulations!
If "OEM unlocking" is able to be enabled, do so, and reboot the phone into fastboot mode. Unlock as per directions on the factory images site.
NOTE: As usual, if bootloader is unlocked/relocked, a factory reset will be performed.
How to uninstall the experiment:
Open Command Prompt/PowerShell/Terminal, and type in "adb shell"
Type in "cmd overlay list" and hit enter
Confirm that "[x] com.pixeloembypass" is in the list
Type in "cmd overlay disable com.pixeloembypass", and hit enter
Go into Settings->Apps, and uninstall "Pixel OEM Bypass"
Reboot the phone
This is amazing! Will try it here in about an hour and report back
Maybe tell these guys. They've been at it for a while. You might even get the bounty.

Only thing I can think of is, after step 6, do this:
Code:
cmd overlay disable android.auto_generated_rro__
And then reboot.
To revert, just re-enable it and reboot.
If it still doesn't work, then I'm afraid the experiment failed

That's okay, it's completely understandable. I agree - typically, you wouldn't want to install a random APK built by a stranger.
I wish I could test it myself, but both my Pixels are from the Google Store, and shelling out $650+ for a test device for a shot-in-the-dark experiment doesn't sound like very responsible spending.

Safe debloat list

I just received my 9T yesterday. My former phone was also a Xiaomi that I was able to debloat using adb commands (there are many guides floating around on the Internet).
Sadly, I must have deleted something I shouldn't, as my phone bootlooped the next time I rebooted it... And I had to factory-reset it.
Has anyone tried to debloat their 9T yet?
Yes, but I used Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Tools: https://github.com/Saki-EU/XiaomiADBFastbootTools
Thanks. Do you have a list of what you removed?
Anyway, I used that tool and removed the hell outta the provided list without issues. Safe, clean and fast. Thank you.

Dude, just use Google and thread with debloat. If you don't know what you are doing, just do the research, learn and then try.
Wrong chat
There's no need for a forum if everyone is told to Google for every solutions. A safe debloat list varies from device to device. I think op is in the right to ask for directions.

Question about locked launcher in Chinese Android HU

Hello all
Today I am fighting with small but irritating problem.
I bough chinese HU and it's launcher is just horrible. Cant make any adjustmens etc. So I tried to install Agama that has been worked perfectly with earlier units that I had. Problem is that I cannot make any new launchers default at any trick.
I have tried and noticed the following:
- Reset apps and click home button (does not work, does not even ask default)
- In setting launcher settings are hidden/missing
- Apps like Launcher Uninstaller see all the lauchers but cant change or uninstall anything
- In the carapp->factory settings (pw 8888)->launcher->only few preinstalled launcher that I can pick but not anything else
I allso tried to root with Kingo Root, it does its job and after restart everything is like it was before (locked bootloader???)
So if anyone can give me any advise I would be very very happy
UNIT:
Ossuret XL6107.20210427.112507
MCU XL6107_V104_20210514_
Android 10
2/32GB
A7 1.3GHz x 4
Kingo root idk if it unlocks the bootloader but have u opened the app and checked if root access it there?
You could use adb to remove the apps you dont need or install a new launcher
I have checked and no root access after many attempts.
I will try adb, I googled it but it's a totally new for me so I need to some studying how to work with it. Thanks for the info
Hi, do you solve the problem?
I'm also trying to change the launcher (same unit).

Use ADB to uninstall it and grant permissions.
I have not yet tried to change it, have been busy. I have tried to learn how to work with ADB but it seems there is so many ways and commands.
Anyone can confirm is this even close if I want to set another launcher main and disable original (If cannot be uninstalled)?
adb shell cmd shortcut get-default-launcher
adb shell cmd package set-home-activity "your.package/.YourLauncherActivity"
adb shell pm disable nameofdefaultlauncher
Thanks
If you remove the default launcher it'll ask you to set a new one.
It's a real pain. I even get no developer access. It's all blocked or hiding. No chance to use ADB :-(
(Sorry for my bad english)
Can you tell me your model and make of the headunit?
hello guys, it looks like this unit is having trouble changing the launcher. I have the same product with the same problem and I am looking for solutions. I also tried an update but it doesn't work. I hope we find a solution.

You can replace stock launcher with root. It is a bit of a process though. Can you share a screenshot of your System Info? Should look something like this.
Thanks for the answer.

I also tried Kingoroot but it doesn't work. I don't think he recognizes it as android because in the end (99%) he tells me to try the pc version.
