PIN to boot TWRP ask for password - encrypted phone?

Need help with this one:
Flash the latest RR Rom yesterday, with the latest OpenGapps, all fine. In the setup I decide to put a PIN on start, so to boot the phone I need to enter a PIN. When reboot the phone a window come up and ask for the code but... theres no keyboard or way to insert the code to boot the phone.
Decide then to reflasg the rom, so reboot the phone to recovery and in TWRP a window come up and ask for a password. Insert the PIN to boot the phone but says that the password was invalid. Hit cancel and go to the recovery but I can't acess to any internal storage, when try to Wipe anything an error apear: unable to mount storage".
I think the phone is encrypted. To solved this a need to format userdata and I will be allright?
I cant use the phone now. Sorry for my english.

Yeah it would appear that your phone has encrypted your internal storage. If you can still boot into the ROM, try setting another PIN, password or pattern and also check in Settings > Security > Encryption to see if it is indeed encrypted. If you changed the lockscreen security, try booting into TWRP again and try out your new password.
Otherwise, yes you will need to format userdata to remove encryption and make sure the ROM does not have it set to encrypt by default. (I thought that RR doesn't do that).
Problem solved, format userdata and reflash the all rom.

How do I get TWRP to decrypt data?

I have a US996, which I unlocked via the official method through LG.
I tried setting a 4 digit PIN (including secure boot) and then entered that into TWRP, but it still couldn't decrypt data. How do I get this to work?
And if there's no way to get it to work, how do I disable forced encryption? Note that I didn't use DirtySanta.
push cancel when it asks a password and go to wipe then format data(not factory reset) then type yes.

There's no need to disable dm-verity first?
dm verity get disabled when you install supersu afterward to root.
If you don't want to format data which will erase everything you can just flash the no dm verify zip

TWRP encrypt password???

I wanted to flash a ROM, so I wiped system etc, then flashed a TWRP img and after I reboot to TWRP it asks me to enter a encrpytion password , but I haven't set any!!! please help
The password is your PIN/password on Android.
If you have a pattern, you can switch to a PIN or password to decrypt the storage on TWRP, or you can type the password in this order:
-1 2 3-
-4 5 6-
-7 8 9-
For example, if my pattern is a "L", I would type on TWRP: 14789

I tried this without success but thanks for the help.
I fixed it by flashing fulmics ROM. I got some errors while flashing but it booted and my files are still there
Hi, i have the same problem, i've just unlocked bootloader, (forgot to remove screen lock pin+imprint), installed TWRP. and keeps ask about password. The partition is encrypted in recovery.
I've tried to erase userdata from fastboot, wipe data and format data from twrp.
Any help how can i get rid of the encryption?
Should i lock and unlock the bootloader again?
After i've unlocked the bootloader i didn't boot normally in android and wanted to install twrp.
i come from Nexus devices and it's way more easier there!
erasing partition from fastboot make it have no filesystem or whatsoever and twrp sees that as encrypted filesystem . just press cancel or skip button at twrp encryption screen and it should show up twrp main menu. from there format data partition with ext4 and reboot. at least that's how I solved the problem. I highly recommend doing backup of your data first like photos , music etc. before messing with anything

Recover Data from OnePlus 5 without USB Debugging and locked Bootloader

Hello guys,
I've got following problem:
For no particular reason my brothers OnePlus 5 get caught in a bootloop, but he has quite a lot of photos and other personal data on it. Unfortunately, he never unlocked the bootloader nor had USB-Debugging enabled. I still can enter the Recovery-Mode and the fastboot mode. Sadly, adb is of no use without the USB-Debugging enabled and fastboot is useless for transferring data, isn't it?
I couldn’t find anything helpful to retrieve the photos on the phone.
I thought about using the sideload function of the stock recovery mode of OnePlus to "repair" the system with a fresh update.
My second guess was to use "fastboot boot" to boot the TWRP-recovery or the stock rom that is currently on the phone, without flashing it. For both ways, however, you would need to have USB-Debugging enabled or the bootloader unlocked....
Do you have any other ideas, how to retrieve the data on the phone? I would really appreciate your help.
try to wipe cache in recovery mode or sideload, even reset system setting(apps with data lost)
do not format data(erase everything...)

Thanks for the fast reply. I already tried wiping the cache without success. I would like to do the same with the Dalvik Cache but the stock Recovery seems not to support that.
I was a little scared of the "reset system settings" option, because I couldn't really find what it was doing in comparison to a factory reset. So you recon it will only wipe the system and the data and leaves the rest on the phone (photos, Documents, ...) untoched. That would be totally fine, I only care about the photos.
I tried the system settings reset, however nothing has changed. I guess that means the problem is a malfunctioning bootloader and the system is fine. (I wonder if that could have anything to do with the bend in the phone that is there since it is malfunctioning)
Is there any way to repair that with a locked bootloader or to access the data via the command line and fastboot?

in recovery mode, there are three options for clean
1.clean cache(just caches)
2.reset system(clean system settings and apps)
3.erase everything including 1.2 and format user's data(like photos, docs etc.) as factory reset
so u reset the system(2),nothing changed, then u could sideload the system image to fix it and the system image shoud be the same version with ur phone
the sideload procedure is just flashing system part, user data should be safe.

Thanks, I already tried sideload. I used the newest version of the system image, that should be on the phone as well. I thought it would actually work, the phone even said the update was successful. However in the command line the process was interuped at 84%. The phone was still caught in a bootloop. I also tried an older version which was interuped much earlier.
