I'm on the Telus network, I still haven't received my Oreo update yet.
I'm completely stock, keep checking the system update in about phone but nothing.
Anyone else confirm this
I bought mine last Tuesday, had the OTA waiting for me right out of the box without a Sim Card in.
Try putting another carrier Sim in it, or just try without a Sim at all.

I'm also on Telus, got the OTA the day if release
I'm on "Koodo", but was on Beta of 8.1 then immediate OTA update once release. No issues.
Take the SIM out and reboot the phone. Connect to Wi-Fi and check for updates. Keep the SIM out while you do this.
Borrow a NON telus/koodo sim from a friend, stick that in and you'll get the update instantly. You don't need the sim while the update is downloading, you can kindly return it to your friend

After restoring my phone to factory using the flashtool with the dll and tot for both 10d and 10o, checking software update it says phone is not registered yet? Has anyone else had this problem? I cannot update it from 10d to 10o and when the 4.4 comes out that will be a problem for me to get it.
So im assuming im the only one with this problem?
This is the problem
here !
I have that problem too ... and i dont know why ..!
same here
I have this problem as well. Im going to talk to LG and possibly ATT and give you an update.
On a side note, do you get an error connecting it to LG software suite? Just curious cause i read that if you did theres something wrong with the phone.

I am stuck with this problem as well. I have gone stock with the august and october tot files and tried everything else I could think of. But, in my case I tend to believe it is due to me using my att d800 on t-mobile. I have even tossed in my previous ATT sim (deactivated) as well as a never activation att sim. I did not expect these to help

Go to my att and use live chat and ask them to push the q update to you. I told them i was rootes and restored back to complete stock and i dont see the q update. They sent it to my phone an d automatically updated. Also if you want root do it from q using the 10o manual method from autoprime and skip adb step 5 and take the kitkat ota. Root sticks

I just purchased a new one and it is stuck on the first B130 build out of the box. I would like to root and flash the debloated version after rooting. Should I root and then flash "The Bare Naked Rom" by cisA? Does anyone know if there is way to update this thing or will i have to do all of the updates manually B140,B150,B160? Any input would be great, I looked through the forums and didn't see anyone mention how to update from full stock, if its already been posted, and I didn't see it then I and apologize.

Rooting the phone is simple ..you unlock the bootloader flash TWRP and install SuperSU
theirs another guide for that too
You could also OTA update if you have an AT&T or AT&T MVNO active SIM, then unlock the bootloader, root it, flash a ROM, whatever after OTA to B160. If you don't have access to the appropriate SIM, then clsA update method is your only option.

Im using Cricket, but no go.
Was your bootloader unlocked when you tried to check for updates? How many days have you tried to check for updates? I was able to OTA update before I rooted using an active TracFone AT&T SIM. Does it say "already up to date" when try to OTA update?
Since I've rooted, I've been using the clsA guide to go from B140 to B150, then B150 to B160.

Yes it says already up to date when trying to update. I haven't even unlocked the bootloader yet it all stock.
I don't know how many days you tried to check for updates. Sometimes it takes a few days and it only lets you check once every 24 hours, so you can roll the clock forward a day a couple of times and try that if you didn't already check for several days. Since Cricket is an AT&T MVNO, I would expect the OTA update to work. How long have you had the phone activated on Cricket?

Cricket did not work for me too for OTA update. I have tried for 4-5 days. The Sim has been active for months on cricket. I am in stock b130, no root, no boooader unlock How many days did you try on TracFone before you got the update?
Also, if get at&t sim, how do I capture the OTA update I get from b130 to b160? Can someone please share the steps?

I think it was within 2-3 days that I was able to update with my TracFone AT&T SIM. The OTA file that is downloaded is logged in the phone log, so you have to start an adb logcat command before you check for updates so you can capture the URL of the OTA file being downloaded.
The file is saved in the /cache partition, which you can't access without root, so you have to download the OTA file with a web browser after you change the web browser id string if you want a copy of the OTA files.
Sounds like it will be easier for you guys to just follow clsA update method linked in post 2 if OTA is not working with your existing SIM.

Thanks! Is the OTA URL that one finds in the ADB logcat only usable one-time? If not, can one person capture it and then others on the forum download it ? BTW what browser id does it need to be changed to?
Also, for going from b130 to b160, will there be 3 OTA URLs for 3 update files or one update file for directly going from b130 to b160?

we have 3 of these phones in our house all activated on cricket since november. I hold the only one that isnt completely stock and none of them have been offered an update. It always comes back as up to date so all three are running B130.
Good to have another Cricket data point on this issue. I'm confused as to why the XT won't OTA update with a Cricket AT&T SIM but does update with a TracFone AT&T SIM . I assumed any activated AT&T MVNO SIM would permit the OTA to work on the GoPhone XT. WiFi has to be on an the phone should be in range of an AT&T tower.

The link can be used for mutliple downloads and the browser string information is somewhere in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/huawei-ascend-xt-h1611-t3507933/
I'm guessing that there would be three OTAs to get from B130 to b160, so three files. clsA thread has everything you need to update manually since since your SIM won't let you OTA. If you can borrow an AT&T SIM from someone, that should work too .

I was on T-Mobile but switched to MetroPCS two days ago. (Same network)
It's true... I am on Sprint with G995U1 and I am currently downloading a 1354.14MB update.
I had to check for it, but it found it and downloaded it. My phone is unlocked. Update applied without issues.
Loving finally having the auto fill API.
Just checked my software updates for the first time in weeks and there it was! Unfortunately they're working on our electrical system, so I won't be able to download it until WiFi is back up, but it'll give me time to back things up.
Factory unlocked running on T-Mobile
Can anyone confirm if Hotspot remains functional after the update without carrier involvement.
Thanks

Best of luck my friend. It seems as though it should go well, but Sprint and Essential seem to be desperate to patch this situation.
Oktober Update
Developer Settings/ Essential Noch-Settings
Set default for all applications
Set per application
I record an unintentional reboot of the system after this update, but otherwise ist all stable and OK here in Austria.
I have the sprint one and everything works fine. Consistently.
No issues here. Update took longer to install than I expected, but everything working fine on my end (straight talk/at&t sim)

backed up my data. grabbed Oct 2018 OTA from Essential's site
rebooted in recovery, sideloaded OTA
after reboot, SIM still unlocked
I can't speak for downloading the OTA from the phone itself, but the above steps worked for me
I flashed via BTS, and twrp + magisk. Then I found I lost wifi. Cannot start WIFI.
Also, I uses TWRP-SEP.img. Or I will have no touch. Any hint?
very smooth battery life improved very slightly mostly standby time and speaker min volume has decreased quiet a bit which is a very nice change and now we even got notch settings which is pretty dope in my opinoin
i was hoping notch settings would fix wabbitemu's incompatibility, but it didnt.

If you're already on September, update and you're not "simlocked" you should be fine updating to Oct, build. I have a Sprint variant, and I have service through T-Mobile. After I updated to September, build I got "simlocked". Thanks to the XDA modem swop, I unlocked my device, and updated to September, build without issues.
The only problem I am having after updating to September, build, is after attempting to root my device. I lose the ability to connect to WiFi. But after re-flashing my device fastboot, I am able to connect WiFi. Anybody else?
I have the unlocked version, but am using Sprint. Still waiting for the October update. Or new cables to arrive so I can sideload it. Whichever comes first. (Just got this phone Monday. It's my first USB c device. Ah, the new accessories to invest in too...)
Any changelog or improvement?

If you have service through another carrier other than Sprint, and you have a Sprint variant, Essential Phone, and you haven't updated to September, update, but you would like to update to October, update, I wouldn't update to October update.
But if you have already updated to September, update, without issues? You should be fine updating to October.
If you ultimately want to update, and you unfortunately get "sim-lock" ? There are very credible fixes available in the threads of XDA for the essential phone to unlock the notorious SIM lock issue. Good luck!
Hi there I just updated to october update from Android Pie realese and I have a sprint variant PH1 unlocked and still fully unlocked. It is working great. Now I just need root it again. Thanks for all the support
So, I live out of the US and I don't have an AT&T SIM. I bought an S10+ which is (I assume) unlocked from AT&T, so my SIM is working. Out of the box it updated to g975usqs1asd9. I've read on an AT&T support page that the device must be on AT&T network to update.
Now I'm slightly worried, will I receive more updates in the future because I will not be in the US that often and on AT&T. How did it receive this one?
Is there a way to continue OTA updates in the future with the stock ROM?
You can flash through odin. Unless things have changed, I've never had an (non-iphone)ATT phone update OTA when on another network.
