Oreo 8.1 ROMS with One-Handed Mode support - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys
I was on Pure Nexus ROM (Nougat 7.1) until previous week. I liked the ROM very much and particularly the One-Handed mode that was working perfectly!!!
Are you aware of any Oreo 8.1 ROM that has the One-Handed mode baked in? From my search in the ROM threads I cannot find an Oreo 8.1 ROM that supports this feature (yet?).
I am very close to go back to PN just for this feature.....
Thank you
Mike

Me too. But XDA did released an app for one handed mode. It's not handy as in custom ROM before, but maybe worth checking out.

I have tried that but it has nothing to do with the one-handed mode in PN (the implementation in PN was really great) .

Any ideas if there is a ROM that plans to implement this feature?
Thanks

One-handed mode should be essential feature
I absolutely agree. One-handed mode should be essential feature of every custom ROM. I would get rid of all status bar tweaks long before the one-handed mode. One-handed mode and substratum compatibility are my most desired features. Well, those and Viper4Android.

Try Resurrection Remix, Best custom Rom in my opinion. It has three types of navigation (Pie control, Gesture Resurrection navigation, modifiable default navigation bar) and the Rom is on Android 8.1.

Aquarios 8.1 ROM
Has anyone tried Aquarios 8.1 ROM?
The feature-list contains one-handed mode , but I haven't got an answer on how this is implemented (if implemented) ...

Upgrading From 6.0.1 ROM to 7.x via TWRP-Best Nougat ROM for the Axon 7?

I haven't been following the Android scene lately, and have been thinking about upgrading to Nougat. I'm running an unlocked bootloaded, TWRP, and a "debloatded + root" ROM based off stock (can't remember which one). When I say "best ROM", to me that's the least problematic ROM. I'd like to have a ROM where the power management doesn't go crazy and force me to reboot in order to not have it auto-kill NPR One every day. I'm aware of the CyanogenMod / LineageOS shakeup, but I'm not clear on if there's a build for the Axon 7, and the state of things. It seems like about enough time has passed to where there would be a few Nougat ROMs out there where all the basic functionality is working (GPS, BlueTooth, etc), but I'm not sure what the good options are.
People running Nougat, do you have any suggestions for ROMs you're using / loving? In the past I've been quite happy with CM-based ROMs, but I'm not adverse to stock or stock-based setups provided they are less buggy than the stock Marshmallow ROM. I prefer to have a rooted device so I can use an adblocking solution if possible.

Well, if you have an A2017U or G, it's best to stick with Marshmallow. B15 (Nougat for the A2017U) is buggy and slow. A2017G doesn't have an official Nougat version for now, so in order to have Nougat you have to flash B15.
If you have chinese model, there's 7.1.1 which works better but some users are experiencing problems with the Google Play Store.
I don't recommend AOSP roms at all, they have many issues like:
Camera (currently it crashes when recording videos and the quality is subpar)
Bluetooth (many incompatibilities with some devices)
Sound (no dolby atmos and only one channel is working so speakers are mono)
Fingerprint sensor is very buggy on some devices
Animations are not as smooth
Sometimes the device will unlock to a black screen or an unresponsive desktop
Can't remember more, but there's more
There's only a few... Check them out.

Stick with MM, it's great. It's fluid, the camera is good enough, the sound is great and the battery life is very good.
7.1.1 is on the way for us A2017U users.

Is Mirror link working in any custom ROM?

Hi, anyone knows if there is any rom with Mirror link working?
Mirror link is not screen Mirror to the TV. It is the connection to the car MP5 with the USB and you can manage your phone with the car touch screen.
If It doesn't work now but anyone knows if nearly It will be implemented in any rom please say me in which one.
Thanks and regards.
I'm looking into this as well, I've been wanting to install a custom rom such as @Ivan_Meler LOS Rom, but it has pushed my phone to a "Phone is not compatible" reading on the headunit.
Little back story:
I have a Samsung Gal. S7 and a Honda Civic 2015 and I've been able to do Mirrorlink when it was working on a completely stock rom. Only problem was I was trying to mirrorlink the full phone screen and not have to use the Samsung Car mode, Rockscout, etc. I've tried every trick in the book even one which required the phone to be rooted. (AAUnlock and AAMirror) I used SuperSU, whick I should now look into trying Magisk, and see if that makes any difference.
What I've noticed is that once the phone is rooted, even on a stock rom, the Head Unit in my car switches to "Phone is not compatible". Again, I rooted it with SuperSU. I've been able to locate a S7 Stock Rom which I'll go back to and see if I can get that working again. Once that's established, I'll try with Magisk, and see if there's any difference.
So far with every rom I've tried including LOS (most Roms are based from LOS), the phone hasnt worked in mirrorlink. I'm hoping that @Ivan_Meler makes an update that allows it, as it seems his is the only ROM that gets updated on a frequent basis. I'm hoping that this (along with other issues) gets resolved on the Rom and this can become my daily driver.
Hello
Did you manage to make work your S7 mirrorlink with a rooted rom ?
Thanks
It works on omnirom 7.1.2, havent tried it on oreo/pie roms.

If you want to use these old roms, make sure you change the thermals. I highly recommend Jabashque 6, the links are on my thermals thread.
As good as that version of Omni is, Darkobas himself said that longterm use will kill dramatically hurt longterm battery life.
You could use the compatible Blackscreen with the Jabashque thermals and your experience will be perfect.
BY the way, Oreo and Pie Roms are awesome. If you try Pie tryout Lineage 16 its awesome!
Thanks
i want at least oreo, i tried Omni but Mirrorscreen does not work

Custom ROM with One-Handed-Mode

Hello guys, this is my first thread I made up
I've got a pretty simple question:
I've tried "Niwatori -One Handed Mode" - both, the Play Store App and the Xposed feature - but there is no possibility to activate it with the hardware buttons (swipe left / right from home to menu / back)
Before buying the XDA app because you can't test it in free trail, very sad, I wanted to know if it's otherwise possible (is the hardware button method even possible in XDA app?)
Is there a custom ROM which has the 'unique' One-Handed-Mode like in the original MIUI (or as a tweak)?
thanks a lot, gorillagurke
Miui based custom roms have this feature.

May 2019, is there any rom that supports Gcam 6.xx and whatsapp video calling?

Having tried almost all the roms available here, starting from official arrow, then havoc, then resurrection remix, then aosp extended, followed by pixel experience. Can some one guide me to a rom which supports Gcam as well as whatsapp video calling.? I have even tried official. 065 version of pie but same issue still remains.
I m aware that all roms using the arrow device tree are more of less same but still if anyone has any possible solution then please share. I m a old developer who used to cook roms back in KitKat days. I m no longer in touch with this thing due to unavailability of time. I just need some one to help me find a rom where I could use the latest gcam and also enjoy trouble free whatsapp video calling.

Custom ROM with no ISSUES

hi all,
i am running the stock version of SM-900 and want to know if any custom ROM can be applied with no issues? I see issues with lineage OS as some reported that camera is not working. Any tips / advice please? Reason for upgrading is that the tablet is very slow.
For my SM-P900 (v1awifi), I've been using Resurrection Remix OS (RR-N-v5.8.5-20170926-v1awifi-Unofficial) using Android 7.1 2. Device and OS are definitely dated, but otherwise work fine. Rooted with SuperSU Pro, and TWRP recovery. OS Developer Mode options help.
Also AdGuard Premium and Opera Touch both help.
YMMV.
is camera and whatsapp etc working?
Yes. Open Camera from Fdroid works fine. Whstsapp from Google Playstore also works fine.
thanks and faster thank stock firmware?
Yes IMO better response overall. RR ROMs have worked well for for me, but I couple that with some other tweaks mentioned.
Before installing RR ROM, you could just try Developer Mode tweaks for setting animation scale. I use 0.0x (no animation) for the 3 scale settings and that improves response overall.

Do you have issues with the stylus causing the entire tablet to crash and reboot? I've had that issue with Lineage OS.
