Audio not working after root - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I recently rooted my phone. I figured out various bugs and I thought everything seemed to be working fine. However, the audio doesn't seem to be working now. I've checked all the relevant settings I can find that might be a cause (the voice recorder won't work either) - but I think it must be related to the root process. In a PC I would know how to fix it- in phone I don't know. Has anyone encountered this before? any suggested solutions?
Thanks

By using CF auto root...
Link originally found on samsungsfour website.
Also have Link 2SD. This had a bug where it wouldn't recognise the SD card mount. So I had to install system app mover and app2SD apps.... went through the process and all seemed fine...except the speaker no worky. No music. No ringtone, etc.
Thanks

Simplest method to root your phone is to flash twrp and flash supersu or magisk. No problems at all.

What is the type of the ROM that u installed in your rooted phone after rooting. Is it a custom ROM or the stock?

I looked at TWRP. However, could not see the Samsung J5 2017 listed specifically - so did not run this. If you believe that this works on another device, can you specify which model no.? or alternatively provide a link to a working version?
Similarly, for the SuperSu or Magisk?
Thanks

I used CF auto root which put SuperSu on my phone. I didn't use TWRP because it seems that there isn't a working version for the Samsung J5 2017....

I had the same problem after rooting. I tried many ways to root the phone and various firmware versions. Always the main speaker was not working after rooting. Headphones worked fine, maybe you can confirm this.
Finally I got it working.

[Q] my old unroot method (SuperOneClick) not working anymore

Hi all,
I'm using the latest build of quarx cm10 image, 20130110.
I've got an app that only runs on unrotted devices (Excitor DME).
In the past I was able to use SuperOneClick 2.3.3 to unroot my defy again after having installed an update. Now however it stopped working, but it's dependened on the quarx image. In older images that functioned smoothly, now it just stops.
Superoneclick now also hands out a warning: "Automatic version check failed. Is your OS version 2.0 or higher?"
Now I'm not dependend on SuperOneClick, it was just a simple tool I used. If there's another way I can unroot my Defy, I'd be glad to learn from you.
Nevertheless I attached the window output from SuperOneClick to this post.
Thanks for your help in advance
Alex
Hi,
could someone please just point me to the right direction?
Maybe I've overseen the obvious but please give me a hint on how to solve this.
thanks a lot!

I dunno if superoneclick can manage with custom ROM. You can try one of the apps which can do the root/unroot from inside but I am not shure if work.

If someone's interested in it, the solution for me was to use the "SuperSU" app. Installed it, removed root access inside the app, uninstalled the app and that's it. DME is now working as expected.
Also tried "Hide my root" but this didn't help at all.
Cheers!

Hi I've tried using SuperSU and it didn't worked.
I've also made sure that the Kernel I was using doesn't re-root the device on boot.
DME is still detecting root access
I'm using cyanogenmod 9.1
Which rom are you using ?
Can please someone else help on bypass dme excitor root detection?
Thanks in advance!
Hi I'm using Quarx' latest CM10 image (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702)
I installed Super SU and in the propertys I found an option (sorry, unsure what it was called exactly) to uninstall root. I hit that option and it also uninstalled Super SU. Finally, DME didn't recognize any sort of root any more.
See if you can find that option as well and use it the way described. If it's not working for you, it might be something within the kernel/mod/image you're using. Maybe you should give Quarx mod a try, it's working quite well! :fingers-crossed:

SAMSUNG-SM-G870A ROOT w/ towelroot

I want to be able to mod my phone so I can install SDFix, but I cannot figure out how to get root access. I downloaded the towelroot and installed it but it keeps saying that my device is not supported, yet I see in several threads that people have claimed that it is.
I did recently update the software from AT&T (before I knew I needed to get root access) so that might have something to do with it. If it does, can anyone tell me AND let me know if it is possible that it will be fixed in the future? Thanks.
P.S. I anyone know a work-around the SD card issue without root that would work too. This is mainly why I am rooting, so I can ACTUALLY use the extra storage that I installed.

Yes a recent update disabled towelroot. You might be able to work around this issue by flashing an older firmware in Odin or by trying this tutorial.

FYI: Where to Start for Root Access
For anyone who may search this forum and find my mention of the G870A, and have no idea where to start (like I did) follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799754 I can confirm that this firmware (once installed following the steps) will allow towelroot to work if you updated (like I did) in mid-August 2014.
P.S. I did not wipe all of my data clean like the post mentions at the bottom, but I did downgrade the firmware without issue.
It Works!

Problem with lg g2 VS98026a after ROOT - HELP

Hello guys, I just bought an LG G2 VS980 like 2 weeks ago and everything was working fine till yesterday, I decided to root the phone to do some tweaks to it and I found some problems that were not there before rooting.
The problems were.
-Slow charing
-Battery Draining.
First thing I did today in the morning was UNROOT the device because I thought the problems would be solved in that way, to my surprise they are still there!!
I tried to put back the stock rom but my phone can't enter into download mode, tried rooting and entering with TWRP and I can't root my phone with the same method again :crying::crying: stump root says "ERROR: Unsupported device" When it is at 13,000.
Is there any way I could go back to stock without using download mode or TWRP?
HEEELP!!!!
Thank you in advance guys, I know you guys work hard to build such a great and helpful community.

But you need to be root to do that right? Because I CAN'T root stump root is telling me that my device is unsupported, maybe SuperSU did not fully uninstall.

Have you tried downloading and running AutoRec instead of StumpRoot? StumpRoot roots your device but doesn't install TWRP. AutoRec will downgrade your bootloader to Jelly Bean and will install TWRP as a custom recovery.

Sorry I misread your initial situation. Yes, AutoRec will need to be given elevated privileges and will need to be run after using IORoot25. Have you tried IORoot25 before?

What tweaks did you do to your phone before all this happened? It sounds like some of your partitions are corrupt.

Oh sorry, I unrooted with the SuperSU option to unroot.
SOLVED
All I needed was to get into download mode, the problem was a combination of usb port + cable. Both my laptop and my desktop only have 3.0 usb ports, but I found a couple of 2.0 ports at the back of the case (the ones that come with the mobo), when I tried with those ports it inmediately entered into download mode .
Now I am using official lollipop (manual OTA) without root
Thank you for all your help d00lz

Root Lollipop

MOD EDIT @gregbradley
Also, users should be aware that Kingo root sends your IMEI to an unknown IP address in china during the root process, you have been warned. For more information read the whole OP here
Getting ROOT rights to Android 5.0 Lollipop (KingRoot) It is not my work. Taken from a russian forum.
1.Download and install latest version of Kingroot to phone.
2.Run the application and get the Root. Important - do not restart the device, because it can lead to failure in obtaining Root.
3.Enable "USB debugging" and "unknown sources".
4.Install the latest version from the PC XZDualRecovery to get full access to reading and writing to the section System (connect your phone to a PC via a cable, run the install.bat to select a number " 1 "on the screen to confirm a request for superuser)
5.Phone will reboot automatically to recovery. Install supersu.
6.Boot
Files to root.

Yes I believe so. I have the Kinguser icon in my app draw, but It wont open. I deleted all files associated with King via ES Root Explorer, and cannot find anything.
I still wouldn't recommend anyone else doing this, god knows what information was sent to China upon installing it, but I really wanted root.

I tried that, it needs internet connectivity. However, the reason I allowed this was I understand that this root is based on a Ping exploit, which would need internet connecivity to work.
I figured the risk werent THAT high for me. I dont re-use passwords and no bank details stored on my phone.
Can confirm this method works.
You might want to try going in Airplane mode if you're paranoid for the Chinese. In any case, Kingroot + XZDR + SuperSU 2.49 works perfectly.
