Applications - Raspberry Pi General

Is there a way to see what apps are installed on my Rpi 3? Also, is there a way to see what apps are available for download? Something similar to an App Store

XDA App Store

Just wondering if anyone has thought of or better still started to build an XDA App Store.
I am thinking of an app we can all download to our phones, it will auto see what phone you have and only show those apps from XDA users, auto download updates of installed apps, auto download dependancies etc.
I have used an iphone hacked with cydia and such and it is much easier for downloading programs in this manner.
Just my 2 cents guys, I do hope we see something someday.
I know that you said that it should be XDA-specific, but another option is called App2Date.
Take a look here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/windo.../lend-your-support-to-a-generic-updater-tool/
I was thinking of making one myself, but I definitely do not have time to even start such a project. I'm fairly busy with other ones.
Its not quite what I imagined.
That program does the updates, but like cydia for a hacked iphone you should be able to download new programs as well.
I honestly don't think it would be too hard or dificult to make.
All we really need is an app to list the programs based on the device and wm version your currently running.
The only problem will be to find somewhere to store the apps. A solution could be a simple databased maintaned and hosted by XDA, that will list the program name, details, OS and device information (so you can get the correct version for your phone) and a direct download link to the cab file. This way the apps can be hosted anywhere and we can avoid having to run and pay for a huge data transfer of programs.
I can possibly help with the database if anyones interested in helping to write the actuall app. Then the listings can be maintaned by xda registered users.
Hi,
i am one of the developers of mobile2day.com an we have the possibility to provide a big database with applications mapped to several devices. So we can show only applications for a specific device.
We have allready a mobile solution running on http://mobile2day.mobi/en/usd/index.html where you can buy and download applications. Maybe we can think about to add beta software, too.
Please, if you are interested feel free to contact me.
I was owner of an iPhone before I bought my Touch Pro and besides the fact that the iPhone is not that good it has one big advantage: The AppStore
I would love that kind of store for WM Apps

Tracking Application Updates for Non-Market Apps

I was curious to see that apps i installed outside of Market (most recently beta swype) do not show up in the my downloads list of Market.
So I doubt the system will be able to automatically determine if there are any updates available for these apps.
Are there any applications out there that scan through the entire system and determine all installed apps and look for updates?
yes, tried googling, looking for a quick answer and perhaps recommendations for experienced folks.
thanks in advance.

Titanium Backup -Market Doctor

Some apps i have on my phone i haven't got via the Android Market, lots ive got have been apk's ive got on XDA,etc, etc, what im wondering is, seen as i didn't get these apps from the market if i linked the selected apps to the market through the market doctor what is that supposed to do?
I have the Paddy Power app and Betfair app which were were initially on the Android market but for some bizzare reason Android market decided no betting apps were to be allowed to took them off the market so i went elsewhere and downloaded them and installed via root explorer, there are a couple of paid apps i also downloaded for free not something i usually do but whoever created these apps was taking the p*ss with the price they were charging so i refuse to pay over the odds for an app, taking all this into consideration what (if any) advantage would i have by linking these to the market and more's to the point considering i didn't get any of these particular apps from the market would the apps in question still link to the market?
anyone any ideas?
I would like to know how this goes too since I use SlideME Marketplace for some of my apps, it would be handy if it could all go under the Android marketplace for updating.
Isn't there anyone else with apps on their GS2 that they didn't get from the Android market that they might want to link to the market but are wondering the same?

[Q] How can I install non-Ouya apps?

Yesterday I received this little cube. I want to know how to install non-market apps such as Chrome and XBMC(android version not ouya exclusive version). Please advice.
By the way, do I need to root Ouya?
I did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347214
It works perfectly, use xbmc (the version for ouya) connected to the computer in my home where all my media is stored.
You can install ESFile Explorer, sideload apps and more.

I rooted mine (I suppose old habit) and flashed StockPlus 519r2 for good measure - it is NOT mandatory, but offers some added flexibility (GPU clock control, easier sideloading, Titanium backup).
While not super complicated, the procedure to load CWM and a ROM is a bit trickier than on other devices (perfect example is my Nexus 4 with Wugfresh Root Toolkit - graphical interface and worry-free operation).
But like I said, you'll be just fine loading ES FileMgr and then sideloading from flash. Several sites offer browser links to do it. ouyafree.webs.com is just one of them (no, it's not mine ). Same info is available in these forums too.
I have installed Chrome browser but is it not working OK. It turn off as soon as it is opened. Actually, the Opera dev version started to fail with the same problem after Chroe was installed. So, I don't know if all the Android apps will work on Ouya.

Most def NOT all apps work on Ouya - remember we're bypassing the Google Play hardware check that would prevent apps to install if the dev did not consider a certain platform.
I even ended up a couple of times installing an app on a tablet, then taking a Titanium backup, move it to Ouya and "restore" it. Example of this are apps that require a swipe to move through initial demo screens before actually launching (Feedly...)

So the best is to install Google Play and install the apps from there?

Definitely. Google Play shoulda been standard on Ouya, IMO. Uploading APKs to Dropbox was also a pretty easy method before I went the Play route

[Q] Installing Google Play on Oculus Go

Hello,
I'm looking for info if is possible to successfully install and run google play and non android tv apps on oculus go.
Thanks in advance.
What has worked for me is Yalp Store.
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.github.yeriomin.yalpstore/
Yalp Store let's you download free apps from the Play Store. I've tried downloading the Play Store, Play Services, Services Framework and Login Service from Google and seeing if that works, but Framework keeps crash looping and needs to be removed via ADB, might be a login weirdness though. Go is running Android SDK 25/Android 7.1, so keep that in mind when downloading apks.
The problem with system apps and services is that we should only mess with them if we have a way to flash a firmware back on.
I would not risk a brick or mess around for hours through ADB.
The reason is quite simple:
1. The GO is not a licensed Google device, so we would need to use a hacked playstore setup to overcome the nagging unauthorised device crap.
2. The system is based more on the Amazon TV stick, which makes things a bit complicated.
3. The play services and framework need to be modified to work with a VR setup.
A simple TV version will fail as we can't really match the required specifications.
At least not without rsking access to Oculus stuff.
4. The interest for developers or rom cooks is quite limited.
Aurora app store works great on the GO (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/galaxy-playstore-alternative-t3739733) I'd also recommend installing appstarter (https://github.com/sphinx02/AppStarter/releases) and then Oculus TV appstarter launcher (https://github.com/GyroJoe/OculusTVLauncher/releases). Then you can just go to unknown apps in your main app library to launch appstarter in oculus TV (much faster than opening OTV, scrolling down, etc). All your sideloaded app will show here (all apps do, but you can hide non-VR apps to make it less cluttered). Works GREAT!
Hi AspenMan. Thanks for pointing out Aurora app Store and the appstarter.
I am trying to install the FuboTv package and cannot get through without Google Play Services if I install the apk from apkmirror. Trying to get this in Aurora App Store - but I do see FuboTV but there is no way install it. May be its a quick help will point me in right direction. I want to watch my FuboTV on Oculus Go
