Hi Guys. I'm new to this forum so do excuse me if you find my question stupid or in the wrong thread. I have a Galaxy S5 (SM-G900W8) which I tried rooting some time back. But as a result of the rooting, it has gone into a continuous boot loop. I have tried going back into recovery mode and resetting everything along with clearing the cache but that didn't work, Then I tried unrooting the device using ODIN and the stock ROM downloaded from Sammobile. But it showed failed at the end of the process. I thought that it may be because I may used the wrong ROM so now I'm trying to download the ROM used for unknown variants. My question is if there is any other way that I can use to unbrick my boot looped phone or will I have spend money and take to a service centre?
Any help or advise will be sincerely appreciated. It is worth mentioning here that I don't know anything about whether the phone was originally a Sprint or AT&T or Rogers or Bell etc phone.

Try TWRP recovery and flash with ODIN and unpin autoreboot in odin
Thanks for your valuable advise senzatiOn. Much appreciated. I have read about the TWRP recovery and in fact wanted to do that but I believe that there are specific files that are used for this type of recovery. I tried finding the ones suitable for my phone (SM-G900W8) but couldn't. So now if you could please please help me with getting the files and also the procedure to do the recovery using the TWRP method, I would be sincerely obliged.
Thanks

Hello,
Basically the phone won't get past the att logo. I can get to recovery mode and download mode. I have tried to flash G900AUCU1ANCE_G900AATT1ANCE_G900AUCU1ANCE_HOME.tar.md5 with odin and it fails. It is one file which I open with AP on Odin. I have nothing else checked except auto reboot and f. reset, and i am running as an admin. Total failure/write aboot. I also tried philz recovery and it fails (secure check fail recovery). I was able to flash the stock recovery but it didn't help.
Does the failure to write at aboot mean I have the wrong rom? In download it says this: G900AUCU3BOC4
Is that the rom I need? Does anyone know where to get it?
How can I figure out which one I need? It's an ATT phone. The phone is soft bricked so I can't get in and check it.
Does the secure check fail mean I have to have the option unchecked in the settings? Again Im stuck because the phone is soft bricked and I cant uncheck it
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Thank you for the advice. I tried the instructions in the post but the phone is still freezing. I've posted in that thread you mentioned, so hopefully they will give me some leads. Thanks again!
i just had exact same problem with my Virgin G900P. Try flashing in Odin in CSC, not AP, it was what worked for me. Then it reboots, gets stuck at same exact spot, the logo, but you let it be, dont unplug it or touch it, in 5 minutes mine started.
Hello everyone who is reading this, I seriously need your help. I have been using resurrection remix android 8 custom ROM on my galaxy s5 g900p for a while now. 5 days ago, my phone just went off when the battery is around 23% and restart by itself. I waited for it to finish booting, few seconds after it boots up it restart again. Then it continues restarting again and again, it won't stop, it stuck in boot loop.
So I thought I have issue with the ROM so I downloaded the right stock firmware for my phone. Flash it using odin but after it finished successfully it stucks in boot loop again but this time it only shows the samsung galaxy s5 logo.
I boot to recovery and factory reset but it didn't solve the problem. I tried everything it still stuck in boot loop.
But one thing I noticed is, the stock firmware flashing didn't really cleared the root and custom kernel. When I boot up to download mode, system status still shows custom. I have search everywhere on the internet and find solution but none of them seems to work for me.
I don't know if this thread has been created somewhere else, if it is please forgive me. I am newbie here and I don't know that.
I have tried flashing twrp recovery and it worked without me rooting the phone. It worked as if I have already rooted the phone. When in recovery mode, I connected my phone to a PC and finds out it still brings my name attached to the removable storage which it should cleared after flashing with odin.
And also it won't allow me to install any custom ROM on it no matter what I do
It won't allow me to make backup in twrp recovery, any time I tap on backup, it starts backing up then it will froze and restart the phone.
The same applies when I tried installing custom ROM
Guys please I need your help, what could be the problem

I don't have this variant but, this behavior is sometimes linked to a battery going bad.
Try turning off the device and fully charge the battery.
Once charged up, see how it performs.
When it fully boots up, take note at the battery % strength. It should be between 98-100%...
I really can't state anything for sure nor guess at it with the current information.
Good Luck!

The devices forced shutdown can "potentially" cause a Bootloop as a result.
I believe that the issue may ultimately be the battery itself...
The battery has 4 brass colored pads on it. 2 are for the - & + power and the other 2 are for data information.
Yes, the batteries have a small circuit board within it for battery/power information provided to and from the device itself.
Batteries can go bad without real warning. It doesn't matter how old they are and, most of the time, it goes bad by no fault of yours and no fault of the Firmware.
It just looks to me like a coincidence and bad timing.

@BrightyH, you'll have to start from scratch as @TheFixItMan had just provided you with the information for doing this.
You can try starting from scratch first to see if it's resolved itself somehow but, my "opinion/suggestion" would be to first get a good/new battery, charge it to 100% then start from scratch.
This is your call...

I have tried all that was suggested and none of them work.
I bought a new battery again, this time around it was tested with another S5 to be sure it is original.
Flashed again with the pit file provided and exactly instructed but still
the boot loop refuse to stop

I performed a quick forum search and located a few threads that may be helpful for you.
I know that they're a bit dated but, the information provided in them should still be valid.

If needed, you can always try to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700073
As a last resort, you can also try to obtain some member guidance within one of the following General Help Threads.

Just keep in mind that it's really frowned upon to post for guidance within all of them at once. When posting, give it time for someone to respond first. I personally give it approximately a week or so for a response. This is just a suggestion/recommendation...

I'm at a standstill. My G900V will not restore to any firmware I throw at it. I even plugged it into the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant to grab the ALL_VZW_G900VVRU2DQL1_G900VVZW2DQL1_CL8025411_QB16020535_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 and that too fails at writing aboot.mbn.
I have the phone plugged into ODIN (latest version) and have tried the stock VZW firmware files for 6.0.1, and only one got past aboot, but it failed at modem.bin. DQB2 got me the closest out of all of the 6.0.1 files (the phone ran 6.0.1, but I do not know which exact build). I tried removing the modem.bin from the tar, and it then failed at the system.img.ext4. I tried PIT, and that didn't do anything either.
Here is where I am right now: The phone shows the S5 logo with an unlocked lock and the word "Custom" underneath. This happened after trying to flash the ALL_VZW md5. Sometimes it hangs at the boot screen, sometimes it gives me a secure check fail for the kernel and tells me to plug it into the Verizon SUA again. The phone does not boot into recovery. (secure check fail for recovery too). Download mode is the only thing that works. Any idea where to even begin with this? The phone stopped working with no trigger, and I'm trying to see what I can do to fix it. Is there any way to just force the ROM to install?

This is typically resolved by one of or a combination of a different USB Cable, a different USB PC Port, a different version of Odin and/or updating the Samsung USB Drivers.
When it comes to the communication between the device and the PC, they can both be very picky.

The back of the phone says Verizon, and the model on the sticker behind the battery says G900V. Is it possible for me to swap the board with something like a G900F?

Alright guys, i have never had any phone that i could not fix either hardware or software.
I bought this phone few years back on ebay from Korea for my dad its Note 3 SM-N900L and it used to work fine everything until my dad decided to take it on his holiday to India it suddenly stopped working there and since he doesn't know much about techs so he took it to the shop where he was told it is something they could not fix. Whilst speaking with him i told him don't worry just don't let them take the phone apart so bring it back and till then buy a temp phone which he did and he brought it back.
Now i have this phone and the problem is it boots show The first startup logo but after that nothing when you touch the screen it does give you haptic feedback and sound showing it works but it doesn't show anything at all!
I tried flashing old ROM didn't work.
I tried flashing custom rom didn't work
I tried flashing Korean Custom rom didn't work
I tried flashing different custom roms from various sources it didn't work
I tried Stock Roms Korean and Non-Korean yet they did not work!
As I didn't know what to do with this thought i'd ask help here see if we can get some help here please feel free to share your suggestion i am willing to take risk.
Kind regards

TWRP didn't flash any i think last time i tried gave me some problem so i choose to stick with the normal i'll try this if you want do you have any specific ones in mind please do let me know i'd gladly flash.
Odin did not fail, it goes through completely for the stock ROMS but the problem persist whilst the first Android boot logo is removed i can't seem to see the Samsung boot logo or anything after that.
I have no clue what is going on here, why its happening and whilst touch works and display works where does the problem lie?

Am still waiting for the solution i have used different versions of Odin, firmware, laptops, computers, yet the problem persist!
Usb cable change
Try cold booting into Odin
Just power off your phone and unplug any cables
Then take out the battery and do not put it back plug the USB cable in and then just boot in Odin normally and flash stock rom
---------- Post added at 05:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:27 PM ----------
If that didn't work either try flashing this http://www.mediafire.com/file/x4jlkvxdr3revzo/N900LKLU0GOC4_N900LKLU0GOC4_LUC_4files.zip
IMPORTANT put every file in the zip in the correct order in Odin it says in the name each partion it should be in
How with no power and no cables ??
PC cannot see usb connection and neither can Odin.
I'm sorry forget to say put cable back in I appoligize but do not put the battery in
Repeat No battery
Odin cannot see phone on ID com so it can flash nothing ever.
Tested failed twice as it cannot see anything to connect to .
If cable is plugged without battery it still can read and flash it is a cold boot look it up cause the PC is providing power instead of the battery
Sorry tested twice as you said.
Odin cannot see the dead phone.Odin flashed one second later shows fail .
Phone been out 7 years and this is the first mention of cold boot I have heard .likewise s1 2. 3 etc
YOU could of course provide evidence of this wonder method of cold boot as it would be very valuable to XDA Samsung users .
