Since February update I am getting very poop battery life, usually I used to get SOT of about 6hrs but now it's dropped to only 4.5hrs.
I have accubattery installed and noticed that battery use while screen is off is too much. Yesterday during night it drained 25% in about 6-7hrs of screen off and wifi off.
Anyone else also facing this issue?
Also I noticed since the update, apps are staying in the background usually even after 1-2hrs if I didn't remove the app from recent apps it was working in background but now even after 5-10mins of not using the app it's getting removed from the background.

Install greenify. Hibernate those apps. Might be some apps running in the background without you knowing. I'm on Feb update and I'm still getting 6-7hr SOT.
This has nothing to do with a security only update. I'm pretty sure the problem is caused by one of your apps which you've recently updated.
Install GSam Battery Monitor and BetterBatteryStats and see what's wrong.
Same here and I'm losing my mind. Not sure if it really is decreased or my brain is playing tricks on me. I haven't had the phone for too long, so I only had the January update for 2 weeks or so and I really feel like the February update decreased my battery life. I have set up Greenify and Amplify. I've also disabled sensors for Google Play Services with XPrivacyLua because I noticed that the body sensor was using a lot of battery for it.
Edit: Ok, I'm pretty sure I fixed it and I have no idea how. I just know that it got fixed after a restart, even though I restarted my phone before. And I'm pretty sure it was RCSService that was eating the battery.

Hi bro, I am also having the same issue. The device is installed with same apps that was before updating. I charged the device upto 90 and went to sleep. When I woke up after 7hrs the battery is drained to 55%. Android services and android system(RCS) took the battery. Did a factory reset and no issue. Still getting along with this. Any improvements mate?

1. Warranty untouched because bootloader will be re-locked.
2. Battery drain fixed on my a1 with retro to January patch.

After doing this will we get march OTA update? Also will there be any problems to directly update to march patch from jan? I am a noob, so please excuse
I am using the 8.3.13 Update and was playing about 8 hours music over Bluetooth , also all workay long and the most powerhungry app was google Photos with 17%.
Sadly i didnt take a screenshot but i disabled upload to cloud for Photos.
I am in feb patch, rooted with magisk...getting RCS Phone drain which is reducing my SOT to maximum 5 hrs...any fix

Yes, you will be able to get de OTAs because you are installing the official ROM, and bootloader will be automatically re-locked by the Mi Flash tool.

Hello,
Anybody on this board actually never did modify their phone and received OTA update from Motorolla? I mean never rooted/unlocked/ etc original Atrix and went through official channels to update it? Can you report if you see "battery jumping" issues (battery available is higher after reboot then before reboot)?
I know it happens on all Gingerbread releases for me but I don't know is it becouse I was tinckering with a phone or something to do with my phone in general.
So I was wondering if 95% of people who does not even read this board and abide by ATT rules after getting latest Gingerbread update actually left with this awfull bug?
My phone has never been modified (meaning no root, unlocking, PROMs, etc) and it does have the battery bug.

So you got OTA update and on Ginberbread now, right?
You sure you don't have this bug? Please get down to something like 50% battery avaialble and then reboot your phone and see if it's changes.

Stock, unrooted, locked BL and OTA to gingerbread
I'm now rooted mind you but in the last 24 hours I've not observed the bug (yet) fingers crossed. Battery life seems identical to before (basically around 10% an hour with 30 minutes bluetooth music and 15 minutes surfing, 3-5% an hour if idle). I do leave everything on and run skype + trillian in background (I didn't buy horsepower to leave it idling lol).
What about FP scanner? How is that working for you guys?

Did you reboot the phone to check if you have this is issue or not? Let it drain 30% of battery and then reboot and check if battery meter jumps. Several people on another thread reported that they don't have an issue but after actually rebooting and checking stats actually confirmed that issue is there.
I ran my battery down until it shut off and charging it has been a pain. Once I put it in the standard charging dock it powered right back up and said it had 50% battery left. Turned it off and back on again and it said 20%, repeated that and it went down to 5% then powered off by itself. Left it charging untouched for 3hrs and the battery only made it up to 20%. Really odd.
I ran it down until it powered off again and its been on the charger ever since. I would guess another update will come out to correct this battery bug in a week or two.

Had to delete my fingerprint profile and recalibrate/setup my fingerprint and now it works pretty much like it did before.
edit: got it! wohoo, sort of
Just tried this and I can't recreate the battery bug:
battery at 70%, restarted phone 3x, battery still at 70% each time
played a game for a while, battery went to 50%
restarted phone 3x, battery still at 50% each time.
used phone some more, phone still at 50%
restarted phone, still 50%...no jumps in battery graph
restarted phone, 100%, battery stat restarted completely (time was only 1 min 6 sec vs 8hrs before the restart)
restarted phone, back to 50% (time on battery did not reset, at 2m 19s)
restarted phone 3x...still at 50%, no time on battery reset
phone setup, fairly stock:
flashed .83 SBF (had the swype beta installed with no stock swype backup), applied the official 2.3.4 through SD card, rooted, swype beta. stock launcher, no battery/task/data monitoring type apps. motoblur account is set up and running.
Maybe a factory rest will straighten the phone out?
I'm rooted, bl locked, and updated to gingerbread using the official OTA.
I saw the bug initially when I had updated my phone while it was around 55% battery level. Immediately after the update, the battery level was at 70%. However, after rebooting my phone again, the battery level returned to normal and registered at 53%. Since then, I haven't seen any battery jumping issues - even after rebooting (it decreases probably 1% after the reboot). *shrugs* Maybe I'll see the battery bug issue if i reboot at a lower battery % level.
In terms of performance of the battery, the overall drain has been about the same as when it was when it was froyo. 1-2% per hour at idle. I usually get somewhere between 4 and 5hrs of display time and it's been the same for gingerbread thus far.

It does not seem widespread (using xda as a sample size is way too small and skewed). And it does not seem to happen all the time/seems to occur at random and only on reboot. Yes it's a bug, but it's not huge IMO. If you have it just apply the battery fix in the dev section.
for those that see the battery jump, does the time on battery stat reset?
Me too had the same battery jumping issue. Battery life indicated was highly unreliable and inaccurate. I discharged the battery down to the point it shutdown. After putting back to the charger it showed the battery to be at 50%. I let it charge again. Battery indicator seems to be reasonable now.

The reason i want to know is simply to find out if the official OTA fixed this bug and if it did that means the leaked beta from kennethpen is outdated since AT&T fixed it and may have also fixed other things (perf, batt efficiency etc.)
guys chill out lets all run the battery through a few full cycles before jumping up and down
you never had weird battery readings after flashing CM6 or whateaver?
for the record yes I"m affected, stock locked unrooted to OTA2.3....
All of a sudden the Android OS usage of the battery shot up to 76%. I usually get around 2% per hour but now I'm getting a 2% drain in 15 mins. The battery page shows Android OS as the culprit, Wakelock Detector isn't showing anything up and BetterBatteryStats just says Android OS is the big user. Easy One Hand has also appeared although I don't have this switched on.
I have done a restart of the phone earlier this morning to see if there was a rogue app kicking around and I've just finished charging it up to 100%.
Has anyone else experienced any issues in the last 24 hours?
Congratulations ! You are now the millionth user who has reported this. :sly:

Well, with so many people in the same boat, i have been having the same exact thing, what i found that even with the Location services disabled, the Android System still shows as location "running" in App Ops.
Check for this, Download app ops starter from market and under location check the android system, if you see location running then just disable it. it have no effect on any apps. You will get your battery back
Same here
I have the same problem, I am 100% stock.
What I noticed is if I reboot my phone the battery will behave correctly for a couple of days then suddenly Android OS will take over and drain it
With Android OS drain I get
3% drain per hour with no use (Wifi on every 20 min to sync)
10% drain overnight (7/8 hours with wifi on every 1 hr)
sometimes I have like 30 mins screen on time and the Android OS CPU total and Keep Awake over 3 hours (lol)
Normally, I get barely 1% drain per hr during the day if not using it and almost no drain at night
I already disabled NewsStand and I am about to try to disable Google+ even though I like the Auto-Backup feature.

Ah you see this is where saying "Oh there's loads of stuff on this issue" is a bit premature. Yes I've read all that stuff and yes I got my battery life to a happy place.
Now since yesterday evening, I've suffered battery drain and was posting to see if anyone else had noticed a similar increase. It's a sudden change which would suggest that either Google have changed something or an app has changed in some way (although I'd expect an app to show up as itself rather than Android OS). A couple of months ago there was an update to Google Play Services that caused similar issues and was quickly fixed by Google. My not pointless post was to see if anything similar had happened in the last 24 hours.
OK then, I'm over and out. I had this Android OS drain just once. Didn't bother to look into it too much. I've let the battery drain till 15%, rebooted the phone, charged it till 100 and that was it. Hope you sort it out.

Greenify apk use this app its shut down all aps working backgroud
I was on this rom N9005XXUDMJ7 , and I have tried everything that is written on the internet but I couldn't solve the problem. Recently I have upgraded to the latest rom in the link below , and the problem has disappeared.

I think I've sorted it. It's early days yet but it appears to have been an update to the gReader widget. I've removed it and everything is settling down nicely. I'm going to let it drain though and then recharge it so I won't know for another day or so.
Greenify would be the best choice since you are on stock ROM. Disable some bloatware and you will observe improved battery life. Greenify requires root and Xposed Framework though.
Hello guys,
I got 32.0.A.6.200 on my Z5 few days ago (I'm in Sweden) and since then battery drains much much faster then before. I use the phone in the same way and did not install new apps since the update. I use the phone for about 3 months and never had battery issues until now.
Yesterday 13th Feb, I had 100% at around 12am and after barely 8 hours I had 59% with ... STAMINA ON since 12am (!) ... crazy. Battery was fully discharded during the night. I will post some photos once I find a way how to do it...- I cannot post outside link, can you guide me how to upload photos?.
Today 14th Feb I charged my phone to 100% at 10am and estimated battery life is only 18 hours (this time with STAMINA OFF). Later today I will post some screenshots when battery reached 10%.
Do you experience the same?
Cheers

I guess thats the mobile radio active bug thing thats eating up your battery. You check for that by going to settings->power management ->battery usage ->click on the app that most used your battery and see the mobile radio active thing. Its a lollipop bug ??

I don't have problems (using 152 fw, though 200 fw is almost the same)
If u have had better battery life before upgrading, I suggest u to do a full factory reset - I've seen stranger things getting fixed by factory reset
Hi, i had that Problem too, the best solution is to use androplus v11 with thunderplug, i got much better battery-life with it.
EDIT: Best to use with Kernel Adiutor, because of the Features.

i have poor battrery on .200 too. I have polish phone from orange but without simlock and i use Plus GSM. I make 2 times factory reset but still nothing. The most drainer for me is ANDROID SYSTEM. On LG g2 i have problems with google services and here with system. In G2 i have root so that was no problem to solved but on Z5 i'm using visa and NFC to payment.
Thanks for your responses guys. It seems I am not the only one...
Just for info. Yesterday I repaired the phone via PC Companion so the firmware has been installed from scratch and I restored my backup data. The interesting part was that after all of that I had approx 50% of battery left and Z5 showed me that it should last approx 1 day and 13 hours - which is a very good result. So I thought that finally (!) it's been solved some way.
My happiness did not last long as the battery decreased a lot during night (approx 20% on a newly installed software without any 3rd party apps).
So this morning at 10am I charged my Z5 to 100% and it shows it should last for 23 hours (!). Totally unnaceptable.
I think I will try to do a factory reset tonight...
PS. And I switched from iPhone to Android to have better battery life..... no comment.
Cheers
Sly
Estimated battery Remaining time is about how you use ur phone so it's not a important how much you have left.
I have now 20 hours left and i usually get 6 hours sot.
Yes, I agree with you however please note the following:
- before 2nd update to 32.0.A.6.200 I never had any objections or complaints about battery life (since 3 months of usage),
- before 2nd update to 32.0.A.6.200 when the battery was fully charged I had approx 2 days remaining battery time (with few days in Standby),
- after 2nd update to 32.0.A.6.200 when the battery is fully charged I have approx 23 hours remaining battery time (with barely 1 day 2 hours in Standby). And I do not have any apps installed (as like out of the box).
So clearly something is wrong as the difference is crucial. I regret I have installed that 2nd update at all.
Don't let the numbers fool you,use ur phone for few days and you will notice that thing will be back to normal.

My phone updated to G930AUCU4BQF3 on July 10. Battery is <10% by 4pm. Previously, I'd still have 20% left when I plugged it in it's usual overnight charge at 11 pm. I also have apps launching on their own while the phone is not being used. Clear all running apps, set the phone down, come back a half hour later and 3-4 apps are active. A podcast launched itself and began playing in the middle of a seminar yesterday. I've not launched that player since before the update.

Is it a Hardware issue ? or A Clean system Reflash might help ?
PS: My phone is not rooted.
For me after I'm uninstalling the snaptube, all it's turns normal... Maybe you use some app has draining your battery ?(software)

I also thought the same...But I didn't install any new apps other than Pixel Launcher.... And Now...I Uninstalled it.... Still facing the same problem.
I guess it is just the horrible LG software. I also experienced extreme battery drain in standby and could not figure out why.
I decided to flash the Resurrection Remix ROM onto my LG and look at that... Amazing battery life with the same usage and same apps installed.
My battery now drops 2% over night. With stock it was 9-10%.
I know it might not be the answer you are looking for. All I am saying is: maybe the Oreo update will help for Stock solutions.
There are reports out there that show amazing battery life with stock but they often disable a lot of services which in my eyes is not the purpose of a phone. Other than that... Try your luck with Greenify or something like that (could be hard to reach real results here without root though).

Hmm.... But I hav paid 760$ to buy this phone.... Why Should I settle for less ? If its a budget phone...then Ok...but this is a Flagship Device.... I am going to take this to Service Center. These Battey Problems are irritating me.
As far as I remember, that idle battery drain is known issue in Android 7.0 and our precious G6's have 7.0 and probably will never get 7.1 which has this problem fixed, LG rarely releases incremental updates, mostly only releases new devices with newer software (V30 has 7.1, Q6 also has 7.1 and their battery life is great).
7.0 bug causes "Phone Idle" thingy popping up in battery stats almost always on top, sucking up to 1000+mAh of battery in my case so I have to charge the phone almost every single day which is a little bit frustrating considering phone's battery and that it lies unused for around 8 hours every day as I have to leave my phone in locker room when I'm at work. This is the only thing that I hate in this phone.
We have to wait for Oreo... which also makes me a little bit nervous because 8.0 also has many bugs... Yes, 8.1 is right behind the corner but that strange LG update policy will probably halt our phones on 8.0...

Being able to have numerous apps for different purposes downloaded on your phone is what makes our smartphones so good. However, there may be a few that are resulting in rapid Android OS battery drain., without you even knowing about it.
Try These
Stay in Power Saving Mode
Reduce Display light
Try using the App Greenify, helps you identify which apps are causing battery drain, and put these into hibernation when you are not using them, to stop them from lagging your device and leeching the battery

Tried all.... Sadly...no improvement

Sorry to burst your bubble early, but October Security Update won't change a thing. I've had it for a while and phone idle is still on top of my list for battery draining.
*fingers crossed for Oreo to fix this "bug"*
