Windows File Explorer not working... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I have installed the latest Samsung USB drivers (1.5.65.0) and I have tried previous versions but I cannot get my phone to show up in Win7 File Explorer or My Computer.

I have enabled Developer support and USB Debugging on the phone and it is set for MTP. The phone is visible in Printers and Devices. The phone is visible in the Device Manager and it shows as working properly.
The AutoPlay dialog even pops up when I connect the phone but nothing happens when I click on "Open device to view files".
I get the same results on two different PC's and with a Galaxy S5 which is what was connected when I took the screenshots.
Tried different cables and different ports. The Samsung Mobile Connectivity Service is running.
Am I missing a step? I don't know what else to try. Anyone have any ideas?

Finally, I ran sfc /runnow. When the run finished, it said some issues could not be corrected. Below is a relevant excerpt from C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

The log file contains thousands of lines but basically two DLL's could not be replaced by SFC. They are: wmploc.DLL and wpdshext.dll
I'm guessing this is caused by MS Updates being installed out of order. Possibly due to slipstreamed DVD install media???
Anyway, does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm not sure if you're still having this problem, but I kinda went thru what you went thru. When I have my s7 connected with one sd card reader on my pc at the same time, file explorer won't work. When I disconnect said sd card reader, I'm fine. It's only just that one card too.
Not sure if it'll help, but my phone doesn't like being connected with that as card in the pc. Just look for other things, it might not be hardware, just comparability issues

Thanks for sharing!
The issue was definitely caused by the corrupted wpdshext.dll. I was able to take ownership and replace it with one from another PC. That resolved the issue of the device not displaying in Explorer.
The only issue I haven't been able to overcome is the fact that I still get a file mismatch when I run SFC.

Unable to fully delete program....why?

Ok here's the thing, I downloaded and installed a program from "Skyscape" but couldn't get it working successfully and now can't seem to fully "get rid of it".
Everytime I connect to PC a window briefly pops up (I think its something looking for updates) and everytime I explore my Storage Card through my PC I can see the following folder "Skyscape_Backup".
Everytime I delete it and everytime I plug back in its there again :?
Please Help...
What can I do?
Cheers for any assistance,
marto
How are you deleting it?
Have you used add/remove programs?
After that, check your windows\start up folder and also the program folder it might have been installed in on your device.
If it's still there, it might be a service. Use SKTools to clear that kind of rubbish. Backup first though, danger will robinson, destroy all operating systems...
V
Yep tried "remove programs" which now no longer lists the problem program, also tried deleting through PC. Can't see anything which has the same sort of name in "windows" and "startup" except maybe (and thats a big maybe) ssdeviceid application.
Can't see anything in my book about SKTools I assume its a download?
Will have a search through the forum database and so on
Thanks for your input V.
Yep, sktools is a download.
Is the window that's popping up on the pc or the pda? You didn't state I think.
Also, check in activesync. beneath where it shows all the syncing progress, does it show anything related to skyscape there?
V
Sorry for the delay V (was trying to figure out how to do screen shots)
Yep the popup is at the PC's end.
I installed SKTools it looks pretty dangerous... is there any particular function from it I should be using?
Cheers, marto

Oops forgot to mention "no" nothing seen in ActiveSync.
Yep, don't worry about sk tools. I thought it made sense that the program was on your pc.
Have you removed the program from your PC?Again, use add/remove programs on pc to remove all trace, then check this program: Autoruns
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html
Check each tab for possible entries. the program obviously tries to sync itself with the PDA everytime. I hate programs that are so misbehaved and think they know better.
For the PDA, backup often so you can always go back to a clean-ish setup.
V
Hmm no success looking with Auotruns, and nothing in "Add/remove".
Was thinking while crashed out on the sofa that I might try to install it all again then uninstall it in a more stable way (I think I may have done it a bit all over the place) otherwise might blast off an email to there support....
Another day more time to play... :lol:

Deck1
Deck2
Just copy the pegcards.96 to your windows directory or install the cab file
Deck 2 works like a charme
Thanks
Can someone see if deck 1 works to?
Gee...what made you try out Deck 2 over Deck 1 first?
But yeah...I'll try both of them....
lollll it's nice idée, thank you very much
I dropped the dll in my windows folder and then even restarted the phone but it was no good.
I noticed that the current dll in windows is pegcards.dll and not pegcards96.dll will that have something to do with it.
Maybe I have a different version of solitaire.
I'm using a T-Mobile Wing with Aserg's Rom v12
thankssssssssssssss
I have these on my fuze and enjoy these greatly, but one quick question. Is there anyway to get the cards separated just a hair? You know like once they are flipped face up.
For example in the top pick. The 4th row from the left, the queen, jack. ten. Is there anyways to get the cards separated just a tad more so you can see the under lying cards better? In this case the queen and jack symbols.

Do you have an tutorial ready yet?
Any chance of getting a VGA version? I like deck2
Can you post a VGA pegcards.dll or PM it to me i will try when i get time
Also someone asked how this was done well you need a few tools all availible on this forum (Unsigner,signer,reshacker,search for file suite
1:
Remove any Attributes from the Dll you want to edit ie.. read only,hidden ect..
This can be done easily in windows by right clicking the file and unticking all the file attribute boxes
2:
Next you must Unsign the file you want to edit! Just go into the Unsign dir and drop the file over UnSigner.exe.
A Command Prompt Window will popup for a short time, saying the file is now unsigned! (if this fails go back to stage 1)
3:
Now you can edit the file make your changes to the Graphics or Text.
4:
Now you must resign the file open siggner.exe. Then choose the file you edited and take the "SDKSamplePrivDeveloper" Certificate.
Press "Start sign process" a text file should be created with the name of the file you just edited ,Read this text file to make sure the file you edited was signed successfully
5:
Remember to replace the attributes (read only,ect...) for the file you edited make sure that you do this stage last and not before trying to sign the file or your signing will fail
Thanks to schreda for putting together all you need in one package

In addition to the files supported by ZUNE, what other file types can be transferred from PC to WP7 device?

None because those files are not exposed (other partition?)

The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.
Zune is closed.

[TOOL][WINDOWS] - ADB-Filesync - Easily pull files from your Android-device via ADB

Hey there,
i'd like to share a little application i made.
The problem:
I was annoyed by the uncomfortable use of MTP in Windows.
Especially when having more and more files in one folder like the camera folder.
Windows needs several minutes to get the complete filelist.
The solution:
i created a little application which pulls files from your android-device via adb.
the app checks all specified folders from the configuration-file and pulls all files which are not existing to the destination folder.
there is also an option to change the created/modified timestamp of images/videos by parsing the filename. this function may be useful for sorting your pictures/videos.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Setting up the app:
the app creates all necessary files on the first start.
after creating, it automatically opens the configuration-file for you to edit it.
there is a comment in every line to understand what the application will do.
there are a couple more of options, read the ini-file-comments to understand.
Requirements:
- Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0
- the ability to modify a textfile
- ADB-Debugging must be enabled on your device
- the internal path you want to sync from your android-device
if you don't know the path, install "es file explorer" or any other file-explorer and try to find out the path. see screenshot...
if you like this tool feel free to donate.
THX and have fun!

It's a great idea but the tool does not really work well. I tried many different things now and it either didn't sync at all saying there were no files to copy or only copies the one given directory without subdirectories.
I hope it's not programmed that way since it'd be very un-useful for those who'd want to make a backup of their phone before flashing (as example me right now).
Good idea tho, really like it yet!
Hi, thanks for your work. I have a Zenfne 2 and this works for me, but i need to copy all the sdcard folder and subfolders. What i need to do?
Great no-nonsense tool!
Allow me to recommend two minor additions
1) For JPG and PNG file, examine the "DATE TAKEN" meta-tag, and use this for filestamp (by an option)
2) A flag for Traverse Subdirs.
(If not easy on the source side, it could be OK with the destination side, one could easily do a initial full copy in explorer)
ADD:
3) An option NOT to try to supply it's own ADB.exe, without a confirmation dialogue as this might be wrong compared to the version used on the system...
...And a tiny bug.
4) When "OpenAfterCopyOnly" is selected and multiple sync-sections is in use, it should ONLY open the destination folders for the dirs that got new files, not all destinations.
Thanks! Just used this to solve my issue. Phone rebooted within 2 minutes, so doing it straight didn't work for me. Good work!
People interested in this, might find this little tool PortableDevicesIncrementalCopy helpful too
It can do INCREMENTAL copies via MTP of the entire tree, so very handy and reasonably quick to keep a backup including all your images on your PC
https://eskerahn.dk/wordpress/?p=1668
Note it is not a MIRROR-function, so files deleted on the device will stay on the PC.
Not work on my pc. Error cannot write file.

[HELP] - Issue with Spoofing Samsung Galaxy A03s Device Informatio

Hi,
I have an issue with spoofing device information (e.g. manufacturer, device model, Android OS version, etc) on my Samsung Galaxy A03s device. This device was rooted via Magisk.
I tried to use the MagiskHide Props Conf Module (https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/MagiskHidePropsConf) to spoof the device info, the module can run smoothly without any issue, but after device rebooting, the spoofed device info didn't take effect, so all my device info are still kept remaining.
After I tried to use "Device Faker Plus" app (via Edxposed framework) to spoof these device info, my device info can be changed when I check via CPU-Z or DroidInfo or built-in device info feature as below pictures:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In the above picture, there is a strage point that the Model number value was changed when I check from built-in device info, other info are still kept remaining. But these info were displayed differently from view of CPU-Z and Droid Info tool.
But from my testing app (this is a native app designed to collect device info/fingerprint via integrated SDK), I found that the real information are not still changed, it means that my test app can record all the original device info such as: Manufacturer is Samsung, Model number is SM-A037F/DS, Android OS is 11 version.
Finally, I tried to use a tool "BuildProp Editor" to edit manually parameters of Manufacturer, Model number and Android OS version from these 02 files: (1) /system/build.prop and (2) /default.prop as below, the change is ok and the files can be saved, but after rebooting, there is no effect, all information are still kept remaining (although changed parameters are still kept in these files).
After that, I found that there are 2 other files still contains the original device information are: (1) /system/vendor/build.prop and (2) /product/build.prop , I can't use BuildProps Editor tool to change these paramters on this file (1) /system/vendor/build.prop, the file is not able to save after my change as below images:
With the file (2) /product/build.prop, I can use BuildProps Editor tool to change these parameters and save it successfully, but when reboot the device, I am in the trouble with "boot loop" issue (please refer to my attached video).
My questions:
1. Does anyone tell me what is different between these files: (1) /system/build.prop; (2) /default.prop; (3) /system/vendor/build.prop and (4) /product/build.prop ? and which file can be affected to changing device info ?
2. Can anyone use MagiskHide Props Conf module or any tool to spoof device info successfully on this device model - Samsung A03S ?
3. Does anyone know why MagiskHide Props Conf module or Device Faker Plus tool can't change my original device info ? what are the possible root causes here?
Thank you
Anyone please help me in this case ???
Anyone please help me in this case ???
hey brother did you get this to work???
