Hello,
i had a Custom Rom and my Device was rootet.
The custom Rom was "Lineage" from the custom ROM section.
Today it notified me that there is a Lineage update ready to install, but when i clicked on it it just restarted my phone into Recovery. Since then i cant get into my System.
Im working on it since a few hours and this is what i tried so far:
Delete cache, Data, System and every other option TWRP gave me.
Factory reset and format data.
"Repair file System" on "Data" and "System" and also tried changing it into FAT/EXT4.
tried installing the same Rom+Gapps and also a diffrent Rom (AquariOS) a 100 times.
also tried "fastboot flash boot boot.img" from this archive "H87011G+Open+EU+OP+(TWRP)"
Any ideas?
Kind Regards
This is now the 5th out 6th thread about this issue!! Please search before repeating the save thing.
Easy fix out there
I searched.
couldnt fine anything with the keywords "boot" or "recovery" or "stuck".
also searched manually but couldnt find anything...
only thread i foud was this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2774709
but the solution there doesnt work with the G6 apparently
Well something changed. Now it always starts into the screen with the 4 Dots spinning
Have you tried to flash stock with LG Bridge or Uppercut+LG Up

hi try factory delete and internal storage to all is gone then flash rom gapps and alll other zips you need.
hope this works it thit for me
I tried factory delete a few times, that didnt help.
What actually helped was the command in fastboot:
Fastboot flash recovery boot.img
Instead of
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
I did another factory reset after that, and i was all set to install a custom ROM next. The stock rom still didnt work, but i can live with that.

ive tried a whole bunch of roms and the behavior seems to be very consistent.
Here's the scenario, same for every rom:
-boot into TWRP, advanced wipe -> wipe everything
-flash rom over adb sideload
-reboot system
-rom comes up just fine the first time, log into google, restore apps
-any time i reboot after, it sits on "Galaxy s4" boot screen, if I then reboot into recovery, TWRP asks for password because it can't mount partitions.
-only way ive found to get out of this is to format data, then reflash.. only until the first reboot again.
stock rom works flawless, the only custom rom that also worked flawless was task650's AOKP 4.2 rom, which was strange but i used it for couple months. now since i i updated to his latest 4.3 release the same issue came up, so i tried again a number of different roms.. no luck
ive exausted my google-fu and these forums, can someone please help... is this a kernel issue? bad hardware? am i just doing something very simple very wrong?
In twrp, just do the standard wipe, the one that you just swipe the wipe. I think your wiping too much.
Then install the Rom, kernel, and what else you may need, no need to side load it

same thing, except this time it didnt even boot once, stuck on "galaxy s4" logo, then rebooting back into TWRP prompted a password coz it couldnt mount anything...
i think it gets stuck on boot logo because it cant mount partition same way TWRP cant, but i have no idea why it wouldnt be able to after a reboot or what could be screwing it up
Why don't you try flashing a new recovery?
Hey guys so my phone appears to me to be bricked. I have a rooted angler on stock 7.0.0 (NBD90X, Oct 2016). I have ElementalX kernal.
A few weeks ago I was looking in to putting on MultiROM. After I flashed the custom TWRP recovery for MultiROM, the recovery wouldn't work. It just goes to the TWRP blue startup screen and freezes. I have been procrastinating on flashing a functioning recovery ever since. I know, I'm an idiot. Lesson learned. Well the November security update was pushed to my phone a few days ago. I ignored it. Last night I wanted to see if the update included 7.1 or if it was just security update, so I tapped on the update notification and it automatically downloaded the updates without prompt (which I did not want to do.)
Well an hour later my phone died. When I plugged in to the charger, it immediatly started up by itself and booted to the non-functioning recovery and froze. It does this every time I try to boot the device now. I booted in to the bootloader and tried plugging in to my PC to flash a working recovery, but the device will not get picked up by the PC anymore. I don't believe it's a driver issue I use adb all the time with this same device and pc.
Also want to add, factory reset from bootloader went to google startup animation, but then just shut off as soon as it was done. Also, when I select shutdown from bootloader with it plugged in to charger, it will turn off and stay off but does not appear to be charging in any way.
Well that's the backstory. Any help you all can provide is very much appreciated. Turns out the battery in my backup phone is only good for a couple hours anymore. You all know how helpless we are without our phones, ha! Please help! Is it bricked?
I'm confused. How did you factory reset from the bootloader? That's done from recovery. Also, when in the bootloader you use fastboot, not ADB. ADB is not used from the bootloader. Only while booted into android or from recovery.
Use fastboot to flash factory images and you should be Okay.

I meant to say fastboot. Thanks for the clarification. When in the bootloader, scrolling through the options with volume rocker is a "factory" option. I assumed it meant factory reset?

Never messed with that so I'm not sure. Since your bootloader is unlocked just download and install what you need. Start by downloading and flashing TWRP. In the 6P original development section, find the thread and search it for 3.0.2-3. It's an unofficial version that fixes the issues since (-1). After you flash that boot into it and go to 'Wipe' > Factory reset. You can also do 'Wipe' > Advanced and select system, data, cache & dalvik. Do not select internal storage. After that download a factory image zip. Extract it and flash the bootloader and radio images from fastboot. Now extract the 2nd zip inside of the 1st one and in that folder you'll find system.img, boot.img, vendor.img, cache.img, recovery.img & userdata.img.
Flash those with the exceptions of userdata.img, cache.img & recovery.img. No need to flash recovery if you plan on keeping TWRP. Cache was taken care of from TWRP in the previous step and flashing userdata will wipe your internal storage. Plus you don't want to flash that anyways if your storage is more than 32gb. Refer to Heisenberg's guide for more info.
Edit: If you can boot to bootloader your device should be read with 'fastboot devices' - if it isn't, delete any Android / Nexus / Google drivers. **Reboot your PC** and install them again. After you install them again reboot your PC one more time and try again.

I can't get the PC/fastboot to recognize the device. I've never had a problem getting my pc to pick it up before. I even reinstalled the drivers.

How are you installing them? Using a toolkit? If so, stop and use the instructions in this thread. You shouldn't have any issues. Make sure you're rebooting your PC after deleting all Android / Nexus / Google drivers before installing them again. Install using the guide and reboot again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928/page508
Edit/addition: Toolkits often use outdated or incomplete ADB/fastboot drivers. Always always always use the Android SDK to install them. That way you will always have the latest versions. If you ever have issues detecting your phone, just open the SDK and check for updates.

Okay so I left the phone on the charger with the frozen screen in twrp multirom edition. After that rebooted in to the bootloader. I then selected the factory option. If loaded the google animation like before, but this time actually booted up the system. The notification bar had two diagnostic tools that said tap to run...one was called sims i think? Anyways I held power button and did a hard reboot. It booted up fine. I then used twrp manager to install 3.0.2.2....then i used fastboot to flash 3.0.2.3 that i had a copy of. Things seem to be working fine now. Close call. I'm not sure what the factory option is in the bootloader, but it's not factory reset and it was the only way I could boot. I think the phone was trying to boot to recovery to install the latest updates and I had to boot to factory to get it out of "update mode," if you will...
Does anyone know what the factory option is in the bootloader?
Thanks for your help RoyJ

Factory options is meant to restart the system with some manufacturers apps available just so you can test certain functions of the phone, mostly to see if all sensors and hardware are working properly.
Hi guys
I am currently having a big issue with my Phone. I had a custom ROM installed but I didnt like it. So I decided to flash a new ROM. I booted into the Revovey mode and made a full wipe (System, Data, Cache, Dalvic Cache).
Then I klicked on "install" and the first problem was that the new downloaded ROM, which was downloaded on my external SD-Card in the "Download"-Dicionary, didnt show up. The old ROM .zip did. So I decided to install the old ROM anew. But this didnt work. It just did nothing.
Now the problem is that I cant flash anything on my phone. Not via TWRP and not via Fastboot. There it always says "(bootloader) Permission denied" and "FAILED (remote failure)". I havent touched my bootloader in any ways before that (obvioulsy to unlock it but after that never).
I tried to flash a official Stock ROM. Didnt work neither.
The only thing I was able to do was to update the TWRP. But thats it.
Did I brick my phone?
I would be very happy if anyone could help me.

Which twrp version did u use?
I suppose it should be 3.0 (or latest)
If u gave 2.x.x then u should upgrade to 3.x.x
Because of that maybe u are getting into trouble
I dont know the version I used when it didnt work but I was able to flash the newest version 3.0.2-0. But it doesnt work with this versin either...
There's a setting in twrp that probably has you internal storage read only. I had an issue flashing a ROM until I fixed that.
Edit: just looked. My issue was in the twrp. settings area. For some reason, the simulate for theme testing was checked off. I unchecked it and was good to go.
The problem is solved. First I formated the data and then I Changed my cache Filesystem to EXT4. After that everything worked fine again.
So i just did the new update on my V20 and it sent me straight to TWRP and i cant get out of it. It always boots into TWRP. What can i do? ive already tried a factory reset and restoring my back up and nada. Help please.
Its now looking for stock boot image which on yours is currently modified with system rooted.
Try using lgbridge to repairs your boot image or if you have it flash the stock boot image using fast boot command or do a factory reset while in twrp then flash entire stock image with lgbridge.

Yeah none of those work. The OS is setting off some sort of flag that states it must go into recovery and wont stop going into recovery until that flag is changed which I assume is done by the update. I tried updating with UPPERCUT/LGUP and it errors out at 4%. So right now it's still stuck
It didnt install the update
type
Code:
fastboot erase fota
from bootloader and see if it boots after that.
This will for sure fix you up...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/how-fixed-bricked-lg-v20-t3501310
listen to me2151
delete fota and then pull battery and reboot.
ota's downloaded to the fota folder will cause endless twrp loop.
freeze ota in system/privapps to avoid this again.
Sorry to post on here, but maybe we can get a few tips from each other.
Im also stuck at TWRP. I installed a ROM and went back and forth between both ROMS. After about 4 times of going back and forth between ROMS, my pattern didn't recognize on boot with my original backup and daily. I tried my pattern over 10 times and it wiped everything on me. The strange part was I was swiping my pattern 100% and it failed. Also, my tries were going up and down. It would say I have 6 tries left before my phone wipes, then I would stop anjd turn the screen off, and the screen would say I have 3 tries left, then 5 tries left. My tries were inconsistent, and it finally wiped everything.
I am now stuck on TWRP with no luck of restoring. I flashed the vs995 boot image and system image and it goes back to TWRP. I factory reset, wiped everything, made sure the system folder was clean, then flashed both images again and the same thing, no luck.
I also tried to restore with LGUP, but keeps stopping at 9%. I extracted the dll and copied it into the common folder and I get the same thing.
Error: Error Code = 0x2000, Flashing Fail
When I plug the phone into my computer it shows us996 and not vs995. Strange.
Any help would be amazing.
EDIT: Figured it out!
So, I extracted the dll file from the kdz file and I had to replace it with the one in the common folder. My error was not renaming the file, so the LGUP would stop at 9%. Make sure you pull the file, rename it, remove the old file from the folder, and flash on LGUP.

Have you tried booting into twrp manually and reflashing twrp again? Try that
THIS WILL FIX YOUR TWRP BOOTLOOP. Tried and true. Follow step-by-step.

i did this it worked https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/lg-v20-access-to-fastboot-t3557328
I had rooted my phone by unlocking the bootloader using adb fastboot method, then flashing the TWRP revocery V2.8.7.0, and then flashing superSU v2.46.
After rebooting my yureka plus, and going to recovery it started cynogen recovery only, even though update cynogen recovery option was disabled.
So I flashed TWRP again and without rebooting again, just flashed crDroidAndroid-6.0.1-20160827-tomato.zip and GApps zip file from internal memory. The phone rebooted and worked fine after that..
but while playing a game the phone automatically rebooted and ever since have been stuck on Preparing to start.. Starting apps..
I had disabled the developer options because I thought it was working fine.
The phone is working behind the preparing to start screen.. I can hear the message notification and caller ringtone when someone messages or calls.
Any suggestions what I should do now? I have tried doing a factory reset from recovery but the problem persists.

It still opens in cyanogen recovery only, and there is no option for wiping dalvik cache or system. Since the usb debugging is of,f I cannot used cmd to flash twrp recovery again. By the way I still don't understand why twrp recovery is not loading.

I still have no idea why it got bricked. So after searching on google and youtube I came across this: https://androidmtk.com/download-yu-stock-rom-for-all-models . I followed the steps and now KitKat is running except launcher is not working, instead play store open's every time I try to go to home screen. So tried the nova launcher but that still doesn't work with home button, have to open through playstore->my apps, every time. But rest is working.
