Supersu does not show apps after root. - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I have rooted my Samsung galaxy j5. And the root process completed successfully. But when I try to configure apps in supersu there is no apps shown in the configuration list. I set the supersu in grant access but did not work. I need help in this regard.
Thanks.

Try to reflash super su and if it doesn't do the trick you could consider flashing magisk. It's the same thing but with a different interface and more options.

I have Resurrection Remix, and I have Magisk fabrically in my phone. It's an amazing root manager. I recommend it, much better than
SuperSU.
Just download zip file, put it into your phone, and flash it with your CWM or TWRP.

Lineage * SuperSU * can't update binaries

This is my installation process [last post is OK]
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/wifi-problem-flashed-lineageos-t3576865
Below are screens from CATLOG [not full tho]
If I try to update binaries in TWRP it stops [nothing in TWRP logs about SU], restarts and stops during Lineage loading screen forever.
So I flash ROM again, and SuperSU from TWRP to fix it.
I was reading that after flashing SuperSU - during first restart it should ask me something like "DO you want to keep root" - it doesn't happen.
SuperSU has no apps listed with root access, but root is OK. TitaniumBackup works, but I'm afraid some of the apps doesn't work properly
Now I'm using
lineage-14.1-20170329-nightly-klte-signed.zip
addonsu-ARM-signed_14.1
SM-G900F
Is there a way to have it done?
I remember like trough a fod that once I was setting permissions in Terminal for some files before updating SU? AM I correct?
Thanks for reding
Hi,
With LineageOS, you must only use one root method otherwise problems will occur. The addonSU zip and SuperSU are not the same thing.
The provided root SU zip from Lineage should be enough to give root permissions for apps. If you want to use SuperSU instead of the SU provided by the Lineage team, you must not flash the addonSU zip.

I have tried to flash everything and indeed only addonsu-ARM-signed_14.1 is working from TWRP level. Although SuperSU from APK is working OK [latest SR4].
So root seems to be fine for browsing into root or TB! is not complaining about root, but I can not update SU binary - I have also updated Lineage to today's nightly - same thing.
I've used an S4 with lineage and flashing supersu doesn't work. ONE app in particular will not work because the su part of lineage (and old cyanogenmod) doesn't cooperate; it needs supersu for some reason. I was originally on Cyanogenmod from about a year ago, and tried flashing supersu and had this very problem, which is why I tried lineage, but lineage doesn't work and I cannot flash supersu either. I can install from the play store, but it won't update the binary; flashing in recovery fails (in both older cyanogenmod and lineage os) at the boot image patcher step.

The only reason I'm having to resort to this is because Samsung has a problem with their s7 screens failing and won't do a recall...so I'm having to use an older phone and trying to setup my rooted apps, all of which work with the standard Cyanogenmod root or lineage+su addon, except for one app.
EDIT:
Ah-ha, system mode may be the solution, but I'm still trying to get it to boot without getting stuck! I haven't tinkered with supersu in well over a year, and I didn't even know there were two methods for it now.

Flashed pure nexus but Root missing

I flashed purenexus rom .previously I was using truepure rom. I did clean install twice . wiped everything except internal storage and then installed purenexus rom and dynamic gapps then wiped cache and dalvik . everything went smooth but now device isn't rooted any more . I installed super su and it said root not detected
Can you please guide me how to root again . which root method is best ? And how to do it ?
Any help would be appreciated.

You'd be good to go with Magisk (get the v12 and flash the zip in TWRP)
Now days ROMs don't come pre-rooted as often as concern for system modification and apps that block use on rooted phones.
Magisk has the ability to do root without modifying the system partition (so called systemless root) also has option to quickly hide root
If you don't care about that you can follow the guidelines suggested above by the other answer and you'll find SuperSU systemless root, and you're good to go.
Quick note, if superSU fails (bootloops) read the TWRP log while you installed SuperSU and try to find in which mode did it got installed. This is because older versions of SuperSU failed to detect Moto Clark as systemless and went for system root , which caused bootloop. There are instructions on SuperSU thread on how to force systemless root method

I am rooted, but not happy with my current state

Hey everyone,
I`m running LineageOS on my phone and am rooted using SuperSU which seems to work, according to Rootchecker and the feww apps I use, which make use of root privileges.
But I`m not entirely happy with my current situation, since it seems that more and more apps don`t tend to work with my rooted phone. So what are my ways out of this?
Can I easily unroot my phone, while keeping LineageOS?
Is there a working alternative to SuperSU, which would enable me to stay rooted on LineageOS without reflashing the OS and use Banking-Apps?
I`ve heard of Magisk, but I am unsure of how to switch over from my current state and I`am not sure whether or not it would solve my problems
Thanks for any help in advance!!
Magisk
You just have to go to SuperSU, then Full Unroot, then download Magisk 13.3 and flash it from TWRP. After that you should have Magisk Manager, if for some weird reason you don't, install it via apk
Then you just go to the settings, tick MagiskHide, then go back and open the side panel, MagiskHide - select the apps that you want Magisk to hide itself from
So I tried to do what you said.
I did the full unroot in the SuperSu App,
My phone rebooted
I shut it down again and booted into recovery
Tried flashing Magisk
But it failed, apparently due to my Boot image being patched by another program and told me to go with stock image
What do I do now? And will I lose any data by doing so? Thank you so much for any help!
Weird, but you can simply dirty flash LineageOS (the same one that you have now, or an update, doesn't matter) and it should let you install Magisk.
I did what you said and installed a delta update using LineageOS Downloader. Had to manually flash it in TWRP since I had no root permissions anymore. But I was able to install Magisk like a charm! Now I have to questions:
1. How do I update Magisk? Using the app?
2. Do I have to flash it again everytime I'm updating LOS?
Thanks for the great help so far!
And what exactly are those moduls? Should I be messing with them?
If updates come they will appear on the status bar and you can download them, and they'll install with the phone on. after that you have to (not quick) reboot your phone.
and about the modules, seriously? what do you think??

Help to root so far unsuccessful Telstra SM-G900I

G'day,
I have followed the instruction using the download on this page for SM-G900I without success. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
I found another Telstra user who used the kltezt version, so I tried with the version from https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ even though the build version is different. This time SuperSU asked to disable knox, I did so, verify with Root Checker, doesn't work. Reinstalled using Odin without auto reboot, SuperSU asked for New user or expert, I chose New User, nothing.
EDIT---
When using Root Checker it would ask for permission to verify, I would try and click button which would not work.
I have just uninstalled SuperSU and Root Checker worked. I have reinstalled SuperSU updated binary and restarted and now Root Checker fails.
Android: 6.0.1
AP: G900IDVU1CQD1
Any suggestions?
Samuel
G'day sir.
CF-Autoroot is the old method of rooting the S5 and it will fail in some cases because it is no longer updated. The current method of rooting the S5 is to use either the SuperSU zip from the SuperSU XDA thread or magisk from the Magisk thread. What's the difference? Magisk allows to hide root, superSU works better with some apps and with xposed.
Go to the TWRP website, locate the files for the G900F (klte) and download the latest version to your PC. Then flash the .tar file in ODIN under AP/PDA.
Immediately after flashing, you must reboot to recovery (hold power button, home button, volume up button) until you see "rebooting to recovery". Once in TWRP, flash the SuperSU or magisk zip then reboot.
All the best, Saber
Thanks for your reply. Though had to go do some hard Googling to fill in the gaps of the installation process, like adding the SuperSU zip to the memory card.
I was about to say it didn't work again, but then it clicked why I may not have been able to grant access in the past. I use the night overlay app "Twilight" and I know the system doesn't like it running when doing certain tasks and asks you to disable the overlay. I disabled Twilight and it worked. Double checked and it is definitely the problem. All that for probably nothing.
Now I can install apps to the external SD, well that's the plan anyway. I've had enough manually moving them over manually to make space.
Thanks once again for your assistance!
Samuel

SM-G5520 Nougat Not Flashing GApps with Flashfire after rooting with magisk, Help me

I Have SM-G5520 Nougat, I rooted it successfully here
Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...g5520-g5520zcu1brb1-nougat-root-twrp-t3772104
But, as mentioned there, I run Flashfire, Grant root access, Browse for GApps.zip and flash it, but after click on flash screen goes black and didn't show any proccess of flashing GApps.
After waiting 2 - 4 Hours, There was still a black screen like my phone is off and I restart my phone. Now there is not a single GApp installed there. Please help me to flash GApps.
I continue my research on rooting and flashing and i got some points that are below,
1. Magisk is system-less root that's why when ever i tried any app to modify system folder or root directory my phone got restart.
2. I tried SuperSU system-less but the device isn't going to root.
3. I tried King Root, Kingoapp, OneClickRoot, Dr. Phone root, iRoot and much more with and without PC but my device was not going to root but only Magisk root my device.
4. I tried CFAuto Root with all modifications but due to my phone didn't have "OEM Unlock" option, flashing CF Root cause failure.
5. I tried to push GApps into Original Firmware, but that way takes a lot time and i failed there because of security reasons (And that was my first attempt to modify "Firmware" I must failed ).
All the conclusion of my work let me know that i have to root my SM-G5520 Nougat as system root that will going to work 100% to flash GApps.
Now Please help me to root system wise and flashing GApps.
Thanks Advance
