FYI for those with AT&T version of LG G4 and can't wait to unlock the phone to use with other GSM carriers, I found a good seller of unlock codes on ebay. It only costs $4.25. I got the code within a couple of hours and it worked on the first try.
Go to ebay and search for item 121669425147.

The ETF promotion requires you to turn in your phone. Or did you have another phone you were going to trade in?
Personally I requested a code from my provider O2 UK for free although it can take a week for them to supply it but as its not urgent for me currently.
Funny the code arrived shortly after this post. G4 now unlocked.
I'm fuzzy on why someone wants to bring an AT&T phone over to T-Mobile. Won't you have issues with the data bands being incompatible? Isn't it just easier to use a T-Mobile phone on their network?
I got the phone for $200 on contract. That's my incentive to bring phone over. Tmo promo says we can trade in any phone - I plan to trade a flip phone.
Any color if certain dial pad combinations have to be entered to get to network unlock screen?

I think my att phone unlocked with the code bought from eBay. I tried with TMo sim. Apn had to be manually entered. I couldn't tell if it's a temporary or permanent unlock.

Sorry, I've been traveling but I unlocked it via a website. Customer service was impeccable. www.Unlockunit.com.
I used donniefalcone on eBay too. Had a working unlock code and instructions in just over an hour. Unlock worked great!
Dial 2945#*810# on the H810 model to get to the SIM Unlock screen.

I did the similar thing dumping Verizon for T-Mo. I had talked to the sales rep a few times and when I went in to switch he didn't even ask for a phone. But he did say that I could bring in any working phone, including a flip phone as long as it powered up.
I was able to get my Verizon Samsung S4 not only to work with T-Mo but also got it on Band 4 so I was able to get on the faster network. The download speed on my S4 on T-mo's Band 4 was nearly twice as fast as Verizon's fast band.

I have a Sprint GS7 edge that I want to get unlocked to use on at&t. From reading here and other online guides Sprint should be able to do it. I called them and they gave me a code. What do I do with that code?
After reading online on their website it shows my phone as being DSU capable. Those that aren't receive a MSL code. It also states that DSU capable devices launched after 2015 will be automatically unlocked when eligible. So I'm pretty much confused about this whole process.
Is my phone automatically unlocked now? If not what do I do with the code? Is there anything else I need to do? If it helps I paid for this phone in full. Used it on the sprint Network for a little over 3 months.

If the phone is paid in full, Sprint is supposed to unlock the phone via an OTA update. Yours might be unlocked already. Try putting in an AT&T SIM card if you have one.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
And if it's not fully paid for, Sprint will only do international unlock, not domestic.
But since Sprint gave you the code, why not call them and ask what to do with it?

I can help, i can domestic unlock your device remotely if sprint Only offers you international unlock, 4G LTE, mms and everything working. I ll do it first, then you can donate what ever you wish. Pm Me.
So did it work after you inserted an ATT sim? I'm in a similar situation and this would be useful for me. Thanks
Sim unlock.
Can u help me unlock the sim on my s7 edge from sprint?
Hi,
I received an LG G6 LS993 as a gift at work. I have T-Mobile and would love to know if there is a way to have it unlocked.
Thanks
I would like to know this too, I just got a Sprint LG G6 and have Tmobile. Every unlocking website that I go to says they can't do it. Anyone have a solution?

If you don't know what you are talking about please do not respond. Way too much WRONG information out there concerning unlocking Sprint phones. Yes, this phone can be unlocked for GSM sim card use, as can every LG G-Series phone from Sprint starting with the G2. This can be proven with a quick google search so I wont bother with doing the leg work you obviously failed to do before you gave this person an incorrect answer. As for specific method for the G6, we are still working on it. You should check back with the forum periodically for updates.

So you say yes, but there's no way to do it?
Aren't there limitations in compatibility between Tmo networks and Sprint? Isn't the Sprint version CDMA based while the Tmo GSM? Or do they have both radios and it's merely enabling them?
Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
Every Sprint phone since 2016 has GSM radios and the frequency bands necessary for T-Mobile (and AT&T). Normally to get Sprint phones unlocked they have to be paid for outright (no contracts or device payment plans remaining) at which point they normally unlock them automatically. If this criteria is all met, then you should be good to go by popping in a T-Mobile SIM. Otherwise if it's still locked then it most likely is still under payment. Past history with unlocking Sprint phones has proven it to be a difficult endeavor when going through third-party, so more luck to you if that's the route you have to go.

All Sprint phones capable of LTE are automatically unlocked after they are paid for and can be used on almost any GSM carrier as the bands usually match up. They have the SIM ports necessary for other networks, used for LTE capability on Sprint.
Easily unlocked
Sometimes if you just call Sprint and ask for the UICC unlock code they'll just give it to you.

It's automatically unlocked once it's paid off. If you got it as a gift, it's already unlocked.

That's possible, and if they didn't unlock it then he should still be able to call Sprint and they'd probably give it to him if it's ESN is clear.

Lg g6 and lg v30 now succussfully unlocked. Working on remote solution....not likely.
I have converted the LG G6 and LG V30+ from Sprint, model numbers LS993 and LS998 to unlocked firmware versions of the same phone, the AS998 and H873 versions. This is done with an unlocking tool, it is not free but the tool is well worth its salt..... This tool can be found with a bit of searching so I am not going to disclose it here and get this thread shut down or otherwise. Suffice it to say no IMEI change is required as has been erroneously stated elsewhere, the phone acts exactly like the stock version (with no bloat at all) as far as I can tell .......and I do this for a living.....lol. I am sending this reply with a Sprint V30 unlocked without Sprints help and on the Simple Mobile(T-mobile) network. Currently getting the expected throttled to 20mbps speed I've typically gotten with LTE on a T-Mobile mvno.
It does spike to 60+mbps before settling at 20 so the speed limitation is definitely the network(my cheap ass) and not the phone or flash.
I am working on a remote solution and will notify if I am able to overcome the speed requirement needed vs risk to phone brick ratio down to a level I feel comfortable with. I do NOT like not having the phone in my hand when working on it..... I would be happy to share info for shipping to my shop so that I can unlock your Sprint phones, feel free to message me.
so I was given an off contract, paid off, clean IMEI, TMobile locked LG v20 918. from a friend moving out of country From my reading and understanding you need to use the TMobile SIM unlock app to unlock the phone for use on other carriers and in order to use that app successfully you need to be a current TMobile customer with an active SIM.
I'm an ATT customer so I don't have a TMobile SIM handy to try but I tried to do the SIM unlock with my ATT SIM card which did not work. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone and tried a few different ROMs to see what happened but none of those had any effect. The SIM unlock program also wont even run correctly until the phone is fully on stock with a locked bootloader so that's where i'm back to at the moment (on 10j)
Do I have any options other than finding a friend/coworker/etc that has a current TMobile account and SIM to try and use that to carrier unlock the phone? Has anyone had any luck getting someone at a TMobile store to take care of it?
Thanks!

I thought about that but from looking, I don't believe that is possible for the newer TMobile phones that have the Sim Unlock application since you need to use that to unlock the phone.

Appreciate the answers and that's what I figured. I did a little googling on unlock services and there are a few that claim to provide an unlock still via the unlock app route but charge 150 dollars plus for the service so that would certainly be an expensive gamble that really isn't worth it.

IMO, You might be better off dumping AT&T and switching to T-Mo. Do that, and they'll probably give you a free SIM kit just for joining up.
Your call. Good luck, no matter what.
What did you find out?
I'm looking to buy a tmoble locked h918 and want to know if I will be able to un lock it?
Thanks
PS and you know like trying to stay on the cheap.
My LG Stylo 2 Plus is carrier locked to T-mobile but my sim chip is with AT&T. I tried using the device unlock app to unlock the carrier but it didn't work with permanent option. Is there a custom Rom i can install that would allow me to use AT&T instead? I am not able to have the carrier unlocked by T-Mobile by normal means.

The SIM lock is a different creature. Since you're not a Tmobile customer you'll need to get a third party unlock code...

Unfortunately no, like the other person said you'd likely have to buy the code to unlock it. To use the unlock app on your phone you usually have to have used 3-6 months (depending on carrier requirement) of service for it to work. If you install a room make sure you keep the app invade you need it later.
Before you buy the code you should call T-Mobile though to see if they can do it for you anyway, sometimes they're cool about it.
You have the same problem I have, except I have the T-Mobile variant. If you still have the device with no major physical damage we could work out a straight trade depending on our shipping costs. I need your variant, you want mine. This is truly a day for lazy Android customization indeed, and First Contact day to boot. Live long and message me.
