Video call issue - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Any way to enable video call in Xiaomi Mi A1
If camera 2 API is enabled and Google camera is installed using that tool for unrooted device

Are you asking about the in-dialer video calling?

yes

It's should be working from dialler only. But mine is not working I don't know why whenever I try to call it shows a black screen. Any solution.

Z17 Lite issue with camera

Hello everybody,
I just received the Z17 Lite and I was really excited. Everything was going pretty well up to the moment I tried to make a video call on Skype. As soon as I start the video call the camera start, I can see my face 2 seconds, then stop without any possibility to turn it back ON... the camera icon is not active.
I tried the app messenger and here the video works but the sound and microphone become inactive as soon as I turn the camera ON. More or less the same occurs on Viber app...
I want to add that the camera works well alone, idem for the mentioned apps (without camera).
I tried to wipe all user data partition but didn't solve the problem.
I tried to install a previous firmware but again nothing change...
Do you have already experienced such a thing? Any idea?
Build NX591J_ENCommon_v1.04
Thanks for your help

VoLTE Videocall

previously i was on stock rom and Video calling was working just fine but when i enabled camera api2 then the other person wasn't getting my video but i could see his fine.
Yesterday i flashed RR 6.0 in hope for that my video call will work fine from now but in any of custom roms video call is just not connecting.
Anyone else facing the same or is it just me who messed up with something that i am not aware of?
P.S- I am taking about Videocall by dialer not over any third party apps(on which video calls are working fine)
I am facing the exact same problem I guess before i enabled the camera2api without root method by using the tool the video calling was working fine but after enabling camera2api it shows a black screen to the person i called but i can see their video. I also thought it might be a stock rom bug then i switched to RR still the problem is there.
Mine video calls are getting connected but not showing video.
I think the problem is with camera2api if we disable it we can make video calls without any problem.
If you can try disabling it and give me the results it would be great or if i could do it i will inform the results.
issue in native video call please help

9.0 (Pie) and call recording on Mi A1

Has anyone who has upgraded to 9.0 tried call recording?
My understanding is Google has changed the operating system and basically stopped 3rd party apps from recording calls without root.
My job requires I record call so I am keen to know the Mi A1 situation before upgrading.
It has been said that some manufacturers could undo the changes made by Google and allow call recording but that it was quite unlikely as the laws vary so much from country to country, this coupled with the fact our device is Android One make this even more unlikely as we should receive "stock" android.
Would be grateful to hear anyones experience.
I updated yesterday to Pie. I have ACR Pro and in automatic mode it does't record the other side's voice :/
Actually if you are in a quiet environnement can you hear the other side but very faintly.
Hopefully someone will come up with a solution or we'll have to root the phone.
Boldbeast works
I yesterday updated to pie. I use Boldbeast recorder. To check, I recorded a call. The result was that other side was clearly audible.
P. S. Non rooted phone

Thanks for that.
I'm surprised though.
If you look at the reviews on Google Play, Bolbeast replies (to a user with a MI A2 on the 23rd of December):
Android 9.0 disabled the call recording feature, you can only record your own voice, no matter what recorder you are using in the market. You can test and confirm this fact. This app can fix the problem perfectly if you root the phone. Without root you have no solution in the world, with root this app is exactly the solution.

You say "clearly audible" but is that at the same volume as your voice ?
Because on ACR, the mic source can also pick it but at a very low volume.
Anybody tried Boldbeast using root mode?
Using Cube ACR, and voice is only audible, not loud and clear, and very hard to understand.
Boldbeast isn't working for me.
I didn't have to update to Pie, looking forward to downgrade safely for may reasons.

I've just tried Boldbeast out of curiosity...
with default settings it doesn't work, I can record my voice but not the other party.
With rooted mode and the settings described in the docs for Google Pixel (Record mode: alsa) it works perfectly.
