Hi,
In order to update my phone to oxygenOS 2.2. I flashed oxygenOS 2.1.1 full rom and installed the OTA update for 2.2. Because of this the phone switched back to stock recovery. So I tried to install TWRP recovery through fastboot. The installation was successful but after reboot, it looks like the phone is keep switching back to stock recovery. I have tried this many times but same result everytime.
Note1: I did turned on the USB debugging before this.
Note2: Bootloader is unlocked.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!!
When TWRP asks you to modify system partition give it permission to do so at the start of booting to recovery

The problem is that I dont see TWRP even once after flashing it. After flashing when I reboot to recovery, it directly shows me default recovery. When I said its switching back to stock recovery, because the flashing of twrp was successful, I am assuming that it is switching back to stock recovery.

I also experienced this the first time. But I just ran fastboot flash recover openrecover-twrp-2.8.7.0.img one more time and then rebooted the phone and pressed volume down until it entered TWRP.

Did that many times, but it keeps getting entering in the default recovery.
What happens when you boot twrp with fastboot instead of flashing?
Also probably shouldn't flash an ota 2 versions different than the full. If that was the full version you already had, should have flashed 2.1.2 ota then the 2.2.0 ota.
I'm having the same issue. I was able to boot into TWRP once from Fastboot, flashed SuperSU it said it was successful, then I rebooted. Root was not available, and stock recovery was back.

I want to root my moto g4 plus(unlocked bootloader and twrp flashed). Anyone knows how to root moto g4 plus. And i also want to know that how to increase battery backup after rooting(is it a myth).
@ADITYA_KUMAR this has been asked and explained many times and once more.
- Take Backup
- get Elemental-X kernel (see development section and download correct one )
- flash with TWRP
- get latest SuperSU : SuperSU
- now you can follow same guide of MM from step 5 : Guide
Don't Forget to Take Backup..

What happens if you select Recovery from Bootloader ? Is it booting in Stock Recovery ?
In TWRP go to Backup and make backup of /system /data /boot.
If anything bad happens while flashing/Rooting then you can restore it.
The first time, you must open TWRP from the bootloader directly or the recovery gets overwritten.
For rooting, you can flash Magisk instead of flashing SuperSu. Other steps remain exactly the same.

This is your problem. You must open recovery from the bootloader menu the very first time. Or TWRP is overwritten with stock recovery. I don't know why that is. But that is how it is...

Reboot into bootloader.
Flash recovery - fastboot flash recovery twrp-xxx.img
Open recovery from bootloader menu (by using the volume and power buttons)
From there you can reboot and your recovery will work normally after this, most probably.

Try commands,
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash recovery name.img
Fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
Then directly boot into recovery,
Then again boot into recovery through twrp itself (there is option for it in reboot) or try anything.
Thank you guys i successfully rooted my moto g4 plus(xt1643)
Hello everyone!
I'm trying to root in my Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) but I'm not getting it and I decided to come and ask for your help
Follow this tutorial step by step
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/help/guide-how-to-root-zenfone-3-ze552kl-t3471524
I did all the steps successfully and there was nothing "strange", in step 5 of the guide it tells you to access the recovery mode of TWRP but when I access the recovery mode I just get into the recovery mode of Android and not the TWRP.
Anyone have any idea what might be happening? When I installed TWRP it was all normal, no error message or failed.
Thank you.

have you enabled usb debugging from developer options?
Same problem.
I flashed twrp so many times successfully, but stock recovery persists each time.
(usb debugging on).
I've had that a couple times. After flashing twrp in fastboot, type "fastboot boot twrp.img" where twrp.img is the recovery image you just flashed.

First of all, flash TWRP recovery via FASTBOOT
Commands: flash recovery xxx.img
After flashing, type this: fastboot reboot (hold volume down on your ZenFone 3)
When the dm-verity message pops out, release volume keys and don't touch anything. TWRP will boot up.

Hi guys, i have an issue....
Moto g5 plus XT1680 LATAM
I flashed with Flash Fire (security patch) in my moto g5 plus rooted with SuperSU systemless and BL unlocked, but i reboot phone and it starts on recovery TWRP, then, i tried for 3 times but keeps starting on recovery mode.
After that, i tried to power up phone on booloader and then select START And it works, it's the only way that i can start phone normally, or wait for recovery starts and select reboot in bootloader mode because if i select reboot system ... keeps starting on recovery mode.
So, if i dont use bootloader and Select START, phone into recovery mode.
PLEASE, help me i tried with fastboot cmd [fastboot oem fb_mode_clear] not works, wipe /cache doesn't work too, i dont want to flash stock firmware. Can i fix this with a cmd or flashing stock img like boot.img / bootloader.img or something?
Thanks guys. :good:

I have the same problem when i select factory mode on bootloader then the phone starts only...
Otherwise it boots into twrp recovery
I have the same problem. Only boots into system via bootloader.
Otherwise it boots into twrp recovery.
After successfully booting into system it told me "system update failed".
I guess its because the system update routine is to be flashed via stock recovery and therefore its booting into recovery until it is flashed? Just guessing, but if so could I just flash the update manually?
Thanks in Advance :good:

Xt1687 here - same issue. Can I get confirmation that flashing the stock firmware fixes it?
Sorry if I'm wrong you cannot update when bootloader unlock ,have to wait some one make a fash zip so we can fash on twrp
Same here, I have to go to Mount then check System and then Reboot, Bootloader and finally Start. It's very annoying. I tried some ADB commands but nothing seemed to work.
Update: So I got annoyed enough by it to finally flash a different rom, wiped /data /system /cache and installed
Cosmic-OS 3.1 Universe but still can only boot via bootloader...
Any suggestions? Do I have to reformat the whole phone in bootloader via Computer?
Thanks in advance :good:

Hey there!
I kinda new here so forgive me if I gave you a wrong guide, but from what i read across forums, if you're phone get soft bricked, you just need to flash the stock firmware. try to find latest xiaomi stock firmware.
Adb devices shows "recovery" means your device was in recovery mode. Try "adb reboot recovery" and you'll end up in your custom recovery (I assume you installed one). If your recovery was encrypted try to install push "disable dm variety" command on adb and when your custom recovery asks for password, just press cancel or enter and you'll enter recovery mode.
From your recovery mode, you can enter sideload and install everything from there using adb from your computer.
Hopefully your phone will get better soon! lol
P.S.: sorry for my bad English, I'm not a native speaker.

Which is the principal problem?
Does the smartphone not start? I mean, the operating system.
Because if that's the problem, and you can start in "fastboot" mode, you can install your official ROM with MiFlash.
And reinstall TWRP, Orange Fox for example.
Regards!
