Side loading Oreo - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Can I side load the CRB7 build from BQL1? If this is possible will I be able to receive OTA updates when released? Or would I have to side-load all new builds after that? Will it be Americanized? It will be in English and other regionalized settings? When it starts up to unpack and install the new files how long will this take? I don't want to think it froze but I really just need to give it more time. I'm sorry it these questions seem dumb but I'm new to this and couldn't find these answers.

Firstly which phone do you have g950f/g955f or us versions?

G950U. I actually just updated with CRA1
Every thing went smoothly. I still have the same questions just regarding this build.

korean, but it has all the languages and inputs.
wow .... thats really cool
when this will be available for other regions ?
That is the big question. LG sure seems to take lots of time for releases outside of Korea.
Great! Does anyone know a way to root?

Yep.
Works great, thanks. Nice to have no drama JB finally
The md5 I have after download is 7f0c634124fe0b40c35dad8e9047c03a
Can anyone else confirm? I just confirmed it from the other thread...
Will I still receive any official ota updates after I flash this kdz (if there'll even be any in future)? Say like minor updates and bugs fixes?

If you are still running the official stock before lollipop it is a definite improvement, however LG should be releasing the actual official release here sooner (starts trying not to laugh) or later.
Oh who am I kidding, we aren't seeing the official update until fall here in the states for the V500.
LG's non phone updates are difficult to forecast to say the least. They seem to be primarily focusing on their phones (G2, G3 and now the G4) the tablet business appears to be an afterthought.
The QPair stuff seems to finally be working for me after testing this weekend. In previous situations it could not handle disconnections and reconnections very well. Now that both devices are running lollipop and the latest version of QPair things seem to be working better... In addition my problem with SDCard's perpetually unmounting on stock 4.4.2 appears to have gone away with lollipop. My problem after a long amount of research, only occurred when the pad sleeps in a certain way. I do not have to root and disable a certain sleep mode anymore with the new release (so far with one week of testing the Korean v500 release).

Can u be more precise about the issue? I didn't understand what you're trying to say.
I'm gonna update with the Korean version as I can no longer wait for the update, but time is preventing me
There is a thread about it.... Basically the sdcard starts unmounting uncontrollably. It is now (as of this evening) confirmed to still be present in the Korean release. Which means as before I will avoid the LG built kernel... If you want you can monitor your tablet with the app called sdcard monitor by Ahmed Moharram in the play store. If you get bad removals without rebooting your tablet you have the problem.
The thread that I was thinking of is linked below, and other threads/posts are referenced in my post in that thread... I find that running certain roms or kernels avoids the issue completely which really bothers me since it means that the devs know this tablet better than LG actually does... I know it isn't a hardware problem since the 4.2.2 original release of the software for this tablet does not exhibit the issue...
Thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/solved-sd-card-unmounting-issue-t3053909
I thought the notification names and related were changed to English default in this rom, but it isn't.
There's a qvoice app which displays everything in Korean. What's that?
Better battery life yes, but takes time to set up again!!
can it be dirty install?
Can this rom be dirty install without problems? Much obliged for your intention and answer.

Just got my G935T

Hey fellas,
My note 4 finally died on me so I decided to get the s7 edge and stay with the android fellers. I did have some questions though-
I got notified yesterday of a 164mb update. I'm trying to ignore it because I think whenever root is obtained it should be for older firmwares right? I'm on G935TUVU2APC8 and I don't want to upgrade and get shafted.
My second question is where are the update files stored and is it possible to delete them or disable the update so I can get rid of this annoying screen that pops up every now and again?
And I know I shouldn't ask but does anybody have a progress report for root on this phone? For previous phones I saw a donation page for root, this one I have yet to see it...

Nova Plus MLA.....

Is it possible, to open a thread for the Nova Plus MLA-LXX only?
Root, firmwareupdates , etc.
i think its a good idea...im in canada /rogers with mla-l03...and not much here for our version
Not rooted ( yet ) but got the unlock code, me too
have the code, yet not used, all my other mobiles ihave rooted
Like i said...our device is a one pretty young...birth in september so...theres no rush to "enter the dragon"
But very anxious to try nouEmui
i have tried the unlock code, and it works, but i have relocked it.....
I've the MLA-L11 too. would be awsome to have a working TWRP , no use in getting bt unlocked
unless there is a custom recovery. I'd say we find a dev and donate enough to persuade him to work
on a twrp !

Hi, where is the android 7.0 for us, I hate Huawei when they are late on softwares....! I'm having a problem to use youtube over the phone network with my Nova Plus.
Thanks
guys the MLA varients work with xelfmade's TWRP recovery and roms can be unified to work on all varients
Ota upgrade made with my MLA-L03 to Nougat yesterday and all working great! Used FF to push the update via proxy and changed from C654B140 to C578B302 with stock updated app. Best I've like the phone yet!! Big improvement in every aspect so far.
Buddy,
for us using the MLA-L03 can you explain in details how you did that ? Been waiting for ages to get that OTA update that never comes lol
Thanks in advance

You can try this to update to Nougat: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G79/g0/v73849/f1/full/update.zip Extract all the files and place them in a dload folder then place that on the root of your SD Card and install it using the three button method. If your Build Number is not showing up correctly after installing that install this: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...-L11_hw_eu/update_data_full_MLA-L11_hw_eu.zip using the same method as before. If it does not work the first time you may need to flash the stock EMUI 5 Nougat recovery which will let you install Nougat updates, I had to do this for the CAN-L01C432 variant as the update kept stopping at around 40%. EMUI 5 Nougat Recovery: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4T1GJ6EZ3LvTWNpZ0p5YXVINGs It is up to you to try it and I am not trying to make you as I do not have a MLA variant so I do not know if it will work or not. I hope this this helps.

Yes, understand, which build is it and is there no problem to get the official one when i had install it?
If it doesn`t work how to get back to notmal firmware?
I have all my devices rooted , but this one not, there are to less informations about my build, therefore i have no twrp installed.
Im careful, my last device was honor 7, and i have no problem with twrp and root, but more informations.
Download is very slow.
Do you have made the update to nougat, and does it run without bugs?

Sideloading

Hey guys I recently sideloaded the latest oreo beta version on my s8 and now I am wondering if when the oficial oreo 8.0 comes out I will be able to get it OTA or will I have to use Odin to go back to BQL1 and then do the OTA update? I am obviously not part of the samsung beta program.

Theoretically, we are strongly advised to wipe out everything and start from scratch. However, I would rather do it once Oreo is out.
I couldn't help noticing an error occurred during the installation process, some SYSTEM folder or partition that couldn't be mounted due to ACCESS DENIED. Perhaps this is something related with having the device encrypted?

Yes I remember I saw the error as well, but everything seems working fine so far. I have T mobile and I know that the release of Oreo is going to take a while because they are not even in the testing phase yet.
Do you think we're going to need to flash back to BQL1 and then Oreo? Btw which Baseband version you have installed? I got ZRA6

I have ZRA5, which comes from the leaked build shared a couple of days ago. It has January 2018 security patch and build date is 01/09/2018 22:49:09.

Yes I am positive I have ZRA6 I got it from: https://samsung.firmware.science
I came across this website looking for ways to update to Oreo. I understand that all the firmware versions he has in the website are officially released by Samsung (including the Betas), the only downside is that he does not specify which software is which, you have to know the baseband versions you are installing.

This has been installed already without needing to do rebranding.
Installed with hwota.
.has bugs and not quite ready for general use.
It has no Google app store. Gapps cannot be installed. Adb install is not working.
It is a true work in progress.
My.opinion for right now,. If you need to ask how to install it, then you will have issues to use it as well.

Yes, modding these devices looks more difficult than any other device I own, that's why I won't touch it until end of support (got my unlock code thanks to xda)
