Loving Marshmallow.

Like having a new phone, all the Note5 features with an edge screen. Running smoother than ever, even the screen somehow looks brighter... I really don't want to upgrade now, unless Samsung really create something to tempt me.

Are the camera functions and all notifications back on the Edge Screen?

In camera app only 3 buttons settings, rear/front and hdr. No shutter button like 4.4(

I have a question. By any chance do you have your WiFi network set up to use two SSIDs (one for the 2.4Ghz channel and one for the 5Ghz)? If so, are you able to see and connect to the 5Ghz channel? I'm not able to with the new update. It was working fine on 5.1.1, though.

How do we know it's connected to either 2.4ghz or 5ghz? I know old android phones let you choose which but I'm not sure how to do your test on the note edge.

Yes, you can download the file from Sammobile and flash it with ODIN.

Official update

I have an external SD card installed. I read that someone else was asked upon initial 6 install you could make it an extension of your internal memory or keep it as external.I was never given this option. I also get a notification upon reboot of a SD card installed and have to swype it away.
What are you guys exp re this. (Sprint Note edge)

Actually I had this problem in 5.1.1 and after upgrading I don't see it anymore. I am not sure why your device is behaving this way. May be you can try a factory reset. One problem I do have is after every restart I am required to enter password as fingerprint process is not initialized. This is annoying at times. Overall experience is smooth otherwise.
And I flashed supersu 2.71. Works fine so far.

me too ... i actually emailed Samsung kidmode team .. (found via their site .. http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/kids-mode/
they replied, not really understanding i had a s7 ACTIVE, or that Nougat was on my phone ..
althou this was a few weeks back, as ive been on the leaked Nougat.... but thought i would email them anyhows !!
but they never replied back after stating that i had the Active, was on nougat, and that i had followed links from their site, and the google play store had sttated not compitable on my version too ..
hope they do get it sorted thou.,.. very much liked it !
even tried to get it via a backup from MM, but didnt work .

The exact response I received too. I've even use Samsung's main contact us page, still no response.
Even my wife's s7 edge can't see kids mode since the nougat update.

hope they do eventually as this Samsung Kids Mode is rather good

You can get a version that does load but it looks like the server side hasn't been updated. This happened with 4.4.4

Correction, the s7 edge does see the app but only in the galaxy apps store. Version is 6.0.28
Now how to get a copy of it of the phone.... hmmm
Spent time with Samsung live chat and they connected to my phone. "I check information and your device is not compatible, a update to the app will allow you to download from the Play Store"
Contacted the Kids Mode support team again, probably one of the slowest response rates out there but still nothing.

Thanks Char_G! I've been running this rom with the Pixel2 modded launcher and after the initial setup, it smoothed out nicely. It's been running great! I love all the features that are in it even in the early stages of this rom. Everything is working well for me so far. Kudos to the Dev on this one!

Has anybody tried Android Auto with this ROM? It seems to connect just fine, but I only get a black screen on the head unit.
This was a great running ROM for me. But Android Auto is a deal killer for me. I am attaching a logcat for you guys to look at to see if you see any issues with it. It should be something do to with gearhead I believe.

Yep.

So last time I used a Oreo rom on Shamu, I had issues with my banking app (Simple) and Netflix, and I'm betting the issues were related....so does the latest netflix app from google play work?

The problem isn't Oreo, but the unlocked bootloader tripping safety net, Netflix also blocks rooted devices now. You can try magisk for root, I don't use it so I can't help you out with that.

I just posted it in the official thread. Hope they can find the issue. This was by far the best ROM in every other aspect as far as stability and polish to me.

I had Magisk but it didn't help. Said SafetyNet passed but Netflix didn't launch, saying "device error".

Are NFC and Bluetooth working. Aside from some jankiness here in there, I think those are the only 2 things I've ever really had issues with on all the Oreo ROMs so far.

NFC and Bluetooth look good so far! Only issue I've seen so far is OK Google detection Not letting me through the setup.

Which gapps did you use? The GZR gapps are very minimal and don't support ok Google.

For the Google Assistant, I added it from the Play Store. Works very well.

I did use GZR. I've installed to Google app from the play store. Doesn't that include what's necessary to use the hot word activation?

Just the google app is not enough, but definitely needed. You also need the assistant.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've installed Assistant, uninstalled both Google app and Assistant, set them up again, checked permissions and default app settings...
This screen is as far as I can get. As soon as I click Get Started, it goes back to the screen showing "Ok Google" any time is still off.

I can get "okay Google" to work from the home screen and during Maps, but I haven't been able to get it to work "anytime" yet.

Can't use Instagram Stories on Oreo

Hi.
Since Oreo is out even on beta, I can't use gifs in Instagram stories because it stucks on processing or it never uploads it.
Can someone test if you can upload stories with gifs on Oreo?
I have tried every Oreo rom, different kernels but any work, but in nougat I don't have problems.

I think we have to wait... Maybe Samsung fixes it or not... I'm going to move to op6, I won't buy again Samsung

same problem here. S7 with oreo update applied.
A user on reddit reported a VideoRenderer.Wakelock (com.instagram.android.instagram) when this happens.
So who is to blame here? Instagram or Samsung? And how can we drive some attention on this topic to both of them?

S7 here with Oreo update as well. I thought it was Instagram at first and I sent them quite a few error reports, describing the situation but never heard back. Android/Samsung need to fix this, I don't know how to reach out to them though...

I'm about to root and install a custom ROM on my girlfriend's S7 edge just by this problem alone. does it happen on every oreo ROM? or just the stock one?

Just tested now some basic stuff:
-Tried to upload with a GIF on my story = stucked.
-Uninstalled/Updated the app on GooglePlay store = same problem
-Cleared the cache and the data = same problem
-Phone reboot = same problem
-Tried upload the same picture, same Instagram filter but without GIF = worked.
However this is not 100% accurate since I was already able to post with GIF on the past few weeks with Oreo. So, what does this mean? Sometimes it works but sometimes it does not? Works all the time without GIF, but with GIF only works...sometimes?
Still not sure on what is causing the problem.

The same thing happens to me, it drives me crazy. No solution at the moment

honestly, it's ridiculous that such a problem goes on for almost 2 months without anyone resolving.
This week I will make a downgrade to nougat. Oreo on s7 is embarrassing.

hello, any solution for this problem? I have the same problem, when I upgrade to oreo, I can not upload a video or gif to instagram because the application is closed.

any tip for a succesful downgrade to nougat?
guess that's the only working solution since noone is apparently caring about this bug

One UI 3.0 Released!

I just received the latest oneUI update 3.0 with Android 11.
I am in France on an Unlocked S20+ Exynos.

So far the 3 main things i have noticed , compared to OneUI 2.5.
1. The fingerprint recognition is way faster
2. The UI is very smooth
3. Battery life seems to have improved (Exynos)

Omfg, i have never seen something so ugly as this OneUI 3 update. First thing that you notice after updating, is the new monstrous fingerprint icon. Secondly, the interaction with the phone when using a 3rd party launcher is buggy as hell. Using Nova Launcher and gestures navigation is buggy. Thumbs down Samsung for this update.

pretty sure using any 3rd party launcher on android 11 is buggy, even on pixels, so dont think that is Samsung specific

i can conform it is working with latest magisk cannary

Camera Scene optimizer does not make any difference with this update.

I hear that TMobile is getting their updates now. Does that mean that each carrier is taking a week to do their releases? In reverse alphabetical order? I am on AT&T, maybe the last to get it...

Hello to all
Same problem with nova launcher .... after the update to 11, some gestures work incorrectly.
For example, once the screen is turned on and off, the screen turns on again for a few moments and then turns off again and permanently.
I wrote an email to "TeslaCoil Apps Customer Support" reporting the anomaly and they replied "That's an issue on Samsung's end that they introduced well over a year ago that you would need to contact them directly about".
Personally I think it's a Nova problem as with version 10 everything was going perfectly.
I hope for a launcher update where the problem is solved.
