whenever I try to open a freshly taken picture from within the camera app. I can open the gallery app just fine though but I am unable to delete photos with it.
... I wiped my phone half a dozen times already and this always happens after using the phone for a while. Tried safe mode and it still didn't work. What is happening?
When I use Open Camera as my Camera and QuickPic as gallery everything works just fine. I even can delete the photos I've taken within QuickPic.
Also Google Play Music is unable to play any music that is on my SD card. It just skips the track and eventually crashes. But when I use Rocket Player everything works just fine.
This behavior started just recently, after I did a software update I guess... Bought The phone in November
Phone: Galaxy S8, SM-G950FD, UNROOTED Software version: Nougat, Phone says, I'm on the latest version. When I hit software update this is what I get: G950FXXU1AQL5 / G950FOXM1AQL5 / G950FXXU1AQL5 Gallery version: 5.3.05.301 Camera version: 7.1.10
ALMOST FORGOT: Instead of the most recent picture thumbnail next to the shutter button this appears:
https://imgur.com/ZuXco4x
Edit: lol I can't even change my wallpaper because of this stupid Gallery App...
Edit 2: Google Play Music is able to play my local sd card files again - let's see how long that lasts...
Edit 3: When launching the camera from lockscreen I can access the gallery just fine... strange things are happening here

My tablet came with a rather nice photo-viewer called Photo Browser 3D. It has a nice album-themed interface and cool page flipping but I cant make it see photos on my external SD card, it only sees photos on the internal one.
Anyone else using this know how to get it to scan the external card?
Thanks.
I have the same problem with this app and the gallery.

Have you tried a reboot? apparently there is a known bug in Android that causes it to do this and delay before adding media.
Downloading an app like "ScanMedia" or "SDRescan" or "rescan media ROOT" (if rooted), install, then running that app before viewing the gallery or photo browser should work fine and will find all folders, internal or ex with photos ..... AND saves rebooting!
EDIT: just got ScanMedia for my a500, works fine.

No shortage of reboots here. I downloaded QuickPic, set the pictures folder to the external sd card and it loaded the pictures. I then went to the stock gallery and it saw all the pictures.
just an SDcard app scanner and all is fine... (also, clear the cache of gallery sometimes help)
I have the Verizon variant of the LG G2. Whenever I download an image from Chrome, the image does not immediately appear in my Downloads album. I tried the Rescan Media app and it seemed to work once but then didnt seem to help after a few images. I've downloaded pictures from whatsapp and the reddit is fun app and they appear instantly in my gallery. My friend who also got this phone is seeing the same issue.
Are you guys seeing this too? Is there a fix?
Thanks
Edit: Okay after restarting the phone, Rescan Media works everytime to get my gallery updated. But I'm pretty sure this needs to be fixed by LG.
I'm on AT&T and I have had this problem too. After downloading, the picture takes a couple of minutes to appear on the gallery. I have downloaded a third party Gallery app from Play store and it works fine.
This should be fixed in the next update.
Having a problem with the Gallery app, it's not showing all of my pictures. New, downloaded pics will show up. But, for example, I have 21 pictures, all jpg, in an album in the Pictures folder of my internal storage and only 13 of them show up in Gallery. Cleared Gallery data and cache, rescanned sdcard manually, rebooted, still nothing.
I installed the Quickpic app, and it won't read my pictures at all. It lists them under "hidden files" and only shows up if I manually click "view hidden files" in settings every time I open the app.
I also noticed Gallery won't play .gif files. They show up as stills.
Both of these problems occur on all roms I've tried, so it's not rom specific.
Any ideas how to fix? It's really annoying me.
I'm facing a strange issue with my phone. Photos from the stock camera are not showing up in the Google Photos.
Right after shooting a photo I'm able to see it in the camera roll of the app but if I open it the photo just go away.
What make things even more weird is that I can see the images in the DCIM/Camera folder if I navigate the internal storage in the Files app.
I'm running the latest Android P beta.
Since moving to S8+ from other android phones, this issues was irritating me. While in camera app, if I go to gallery, I want to see only photos taken by camera and not all the media from whatsapp, facebook etc. The suggested solution of adding .nomedia in those folders did not appeal since that would impact other applications browsing those folders too. So this is what i have done and it works well enough for me.
Samsung gallery app has setting to ignore albums, so I went to that setting and checked all the albums except camera. This was manual and I had to check a lot of albums. After that was done, gallery shows only camera roll either in camera app or outside camera app.
I installed another gallery app (quickpic from xda - https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-gallery-quickpic-based-4-7-4-t3790425) to browse different albums including my photos.
That seems like a good solution for non rooted phones until samsung improves their gallery app
