plz help asap
Restore your backup. And fixed that quickly.
If you don't have a backup, that is a bad habit that you ought to change immediately. One good reason is staring you in the face.. the ability to revert changes or recover from unexpected problems.
In the alternative and presuming that you also neglected to save an original copy of the platform.xml file.. you can extract the original platform.xml from the full, stock firmware image. And use that to fix your issue. You can write the file to your handset using the command line or via an ADB shell. Or you could start over if you have other reasons for wanting to do that i.e. write a full stock firmware image with Odin. But replacing one file would make more sense in most situations.

No. I own the 900T model and would need to extract the 900F file from the stock firmware image. And you can do that as easily as I could. Just download the firmware image and use winrar to extract the file for you. Easy peasy.

[Q] HELP... Rename a file using odin...

Hi,
Yes. I screwed up
copied over a new build.prop to /system but I didn't change permission or might have made a mistake. So now my phone doesn't boot into android, or TWRP!
The only thing I can go into is the Samsung S4 Downloading window, I think it's the Odin screen.
I have Odin 3.0.7 (I have i337m)... and wouldn't it be possible to just flash a tar file or a zip file that can do the following:
delete /system/build.prop (The one I screwed up)
rename /system/build.props.bak to build.prop
That is all I need to do to fix my bricked phone!! OTherwise I guess I would have to flush using odin the while Samsung thing and might lose root and reflash kankapop!!!
Any help would be appreciate in the file I need to use.
I noticed Odin has a File [Dump] .. maybe I can use that?
Thanks,
You would need to flash a custom recovery through Odin, then you would have to create a flashable zip for flashing through the custom recovery. In the flashable zip would be the original, unmodified build.prop, the updater binary, and the updater script. The script would issue the command to copy the new build.prop over the old one and set its permissions.
AFAIK, you can't use Odin to send single files like that.

New $600 paper weight

So my brand new SD care went corrupt while I had a lot of programs running from it... By means of Link2SD app I put system files on there too and now I get
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)
I can't seem to fix this problem and it doesn't seem that this problem arises very often because I have found nothing in searching. Any help would be great... I don't want to have to put a hammer to it and then call Asurion for a replacement..... but that does sound fun lol.
I have tried to Odin everything I have in my backups but not sure if any of those are actually the original rom. I have been trying to figure out how to Odin CM or TWRP on to it... or get them install in some form with out the APK. I saw something about them being able to fix the issue.
Have you tried using ODIN and flashing back to a fresh, stock ROM?
I forgot to put all that. I have tried to Odin everything I have in my backups but not sure if any of those are actually the original rom. Our phones do not support CM or TWRP because we have a locked bootloader. You are on a Verizon G900V, right?
Here's a link to a post with stock ROMs you can Flash via Odin. Choose the appropriate one for the version you want and Flash. Make sure you back up anythibg you want to save.

It doesn't matter what I flash I get the same error. The other things I have found say that the system and/or EFS needs to be re-made so to speak. TWRP has a command that does it and CM allows you to go in though ADB and do it..... That is the best I have found for answers so far. I don't see anything for FlashFire or SuperUser.
Flash using ODIN not FlashFire or anything else.
I have flashed with Odin.... I get no where.... doesn't matter what kernel I use or ROM or anything.... I was saying that the people that have solved this porblem before are using CW or TWRP to access the ADB to send commands for the phone to re-setup the system/EFS
Did you Flash the pit file on the page I linked earlier? That should repartition everything.
Still the same problem
So I just kept flashing tar files from the post above and finally the NI2 took along with the pit file. Thanks for your help @btonetbone
Eventually the NI2 + .pit file being flashed together fixed the problem.

You cant flash a zip with the stock recovery.
Or were you trying to update via local update and an update.app? And where did you get the version that you tried to flash? Go read on this forum. Theres a search that might help you too.
Have a nice evening
I was trying to install the update.app file from stock recovery and it doesnt work :/

Need just a little help please guys.

Hi guys, I need just a little help, I am the new owner of a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but not new to XDA or flashing ROM's rooting devices, s-off'ing phones etc, but only on HTC's.
I know that before you change anything alwayS know how to fix it first, so.....so far I have downloaded all of the following to be what I believe to be for my phone:
G935FXXU1BPH6_G935FVIR1BPH2_VIR.zip ROM ZIP with contains 5 files (im with Virgin mobile in the UK)
Samsung Drivers for windows (already installed)
Odin 3.11.2 (didnt need anything like this for doing HTC's)
I already have fastboot and ADB from working on my HTC.
Now the phone is an SM-G935F Exynos Octa 8890 chip and when I check for updates comes up with 3 sets of digits of whats already installed, G935FXXU1BPH6/ G935FVIR1BPH2/ G935FXXU1BPH1
So all I want to know, is if I flash a custom rom for my device, and TWRP etc, will that come with 5 files too or do I just flash it in the AP section of ODIN ? also if anything goes wrong and I need to flash the stock rom back again, do I just flash the whole zip in the AP section, or do I extract the zip and just flash the AP part, or do I need to flash all parts, AP, CSC, BL etc ?
There is also something I read somewhere, I think it was at Sammobile, about before flashing a rom you must set a pin and also modify some kind of meta data, extract the zip, modify and then zip back up ? sometimes there are just too many guides and they just lead to confusion.
