Coming from a OnePlus 2 which seemed to exhibit memory issues, it's "fast enough", a slight improvement to the performance of the Snapdragon 810 (at least where GPU is not concerned). Overall quite pleased!
I need to go to dveloper option and change and set window animation, transition, animator duration into 0.5x to get the "speed" fast enough for day to day operations. Compare to Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with the same chip and lower RAM ( asus 3GB RAM and Redmi Note 5 using 6GB RAM) i feel asus is on proper speed already.

This device is lightning fast and smooth. Coming from the iPhone X theres nothing I miss! That snapdragon 845 is really working great!
AnTuTu OnePlus 6 vs Xiaomi MI MIX 2S
The SnapDragon 845 does a fantastic works, everything feels so smooth that it's a real pleasure to use.
I see a visually notable difference between this processor and my old processor which was a Kirin 920
Gaming-wise (which might be the best performance indicator) this handset does really well, I'm able to play PUBG mobile in high quality without heat nor performance issues, the game run smoothly.
Hearthstone runs without any difficulties as well. (while the Kirin 920 had a lot of troubles running those)
I don't use a lot of intensive process besides these ones but all apps I tried ran easily.
Oneplus One was fast, this is rocket.

I don't know why that made me laugh so hard, but thanks for it.

I currently have the Honor View 10 that uses the same SoC, memory and very similar software. My daily use has been great and I've never faced clutters or slow downs in the performance. The battery life is also top notch, thanks in large to the under the hood optimisations in the EMUI 8.0
Overall speed and performance really good.. No lag no slow down..
I have been using it from a couple of days and its performance is fine and no lags till now. And BTW mine is a 4GB variant.
For me is good. I'm satisfied for heavy business use.
For the price, this phone has exceptional performance. It can easily be compared to some of the other top flagships from around its release date. The Kirin 970 paired with 4GB of RAM and plenty to keep everything running smoothly.
Honor 10's overall speed is excellent. Even after 2 years of use. I look on social networks, write articles for a my webmaster blog from my phone, take pictures. No complaints.

The term "fast" is relative... Compared to which phones do you mean?

It's fast enough that speed isn't an issue but that applies to most modern phones.
Even my Lenovo P2 from 2017 was fast enough.
Speed is not an issue any more......all these bench tests are pointless, fractions of a second don't matter
720G can't really keep up if you disable miui optimizations
Very good. I'd say i use my phone a lot, but not for anything challenging, and I'm not very demanding of my phone, but i can say that I have never experienced stutters or unreasonably long app loading times on my Note 9S (stock MIUI 11, optimizations enabled)
Its noticeably faster then my Oneplus 2, Nexus 6p and Nokia 4.2, all running android 10.
Cant really decide if my Oneplus 6 or the Note 9 Pro is faster. Both run Lineage 17 and seem to be neck and neck.

Well i think its fast for daily usage. I can compare to redmi note 8 pro and poco x3. Its faster then both of these phones.
i would rate it 8-8,5 / 10 .
I believe it's fast. I'll give it a 9 or 10 out of 10. When I click on something and don't have to wait more that a second. I think that's pretty fast. Very FEW things buffer or take long too load. I don't know how much faster a phone can get. I researched and waited over 9 months to get this phone with the specs and price ratio. I think one of the only things that compares/exceeds (high speed with Amoled panel) is the now Redmi note 10 pro. I couldn't wait another 9 months though. My old phone wasn't gonna make it any longer.

it's good with mediatik G80 and good optimization from redmi team . Maybe you face frame drop ( 40~30 fps ) but recommend GFX tool in gaming to keep frames stable like pubg game..etc
Really good for day to day performance. Not much of heavy fighter by any means. Gets the job done.
I think...the last update improved allot.. device behaves faster (scrolling )
-depends on what you used in the past... I think its a good/fast phone coming from the k4000
