Ever since Google got rid of sub-genres and replaced them with play lists, I've kept an older version of GPM to replace the new version. I did this previously by deleting the new version and installing the old, but I was always rooted.
Is there a way too do this without root?
I'm guessing it fails because it tries to install the old version I have as a system app.
Apkmirror
That's a cool place to get older versions of the app, but doesn't solve my problem.
Trying to install the older version fails.
I have unknown sources turned on.
You can't install an older version until you can delete the new one completely which you would need root to do
Thanks. I was hoping there was another way. I guess I'm stuck with "drinking a latte at the gym with my bro" sub-genres.
Hello,
Got my Nexus 6P for about a week now, really happy with it. I installed the android beta program on it and that went well. Decided that I wanted to go back to Marshmallow since some of my apps did not work yet with the N preview. I removed my device from the beta program and seconds later recived the OTA to get back to MM. Install went fine until I saw the boot screen: Please log-in with your google account.
Since I use a password manager I changed my google account password to something simple just for this sign-in. I entered my email and password and it said: please sign in with the owners account. This startled me because I am the owner and this is the google account I used on the phone before.
Ofcourse I went googeling fo answers and then found this: http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...ne-you-might-trip-a-72-hour-security-lockout/
Can anyone confirm this? Is the only way to fix this by waiting three days till thursday?
Thanks!
I've got a Chinese A9 Pro (A9100) a week ago, which was running fine, as the store had installed the Google Play store on it.
However, it was not seeing any updates whatsoever, so it was stuck on the firmware from last year's September.
I wanted to fix that, so I was looking around and found the firmware for this year's September for A9100:
updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=EF41B367935E11E7963AFA163EE8F90B
I tried flashing it with Odin, and everything worked fine. The new firmware is working fine, has the newest security patch and everything. All my installed apps were working fine as well
The only thing that didn't work was Google Play Store, it wouldn't run at all. What's more, I was continually getting "Google Play services stopped" errors, which was starting to get on my nerves.
So I decided to do a factory reset, which fixed the problem. No error messages anymore
However, the Google Play store is completely gone now. How do I get it back?
I tried downloading the apk files from apkmirror and installing them, that did nothing.
Then I looked around and found a Google installer:
itechify.com/2016/11/10/download-google-installer-apk-chinese-phones/
Tried that one, but even though everything seemed to have installed fine, it still wasn't working. The error messages were back again, too, so I uninstalled everything again, and the error messages are gone again.
How do I get the Google Play store back? If possible, without rooting the phone. I have apps that I need to use (e.g. my banking app), which don't work on a rooted phone.
Thanks for any help :good:

Last time I poked around rooted phone you just renamed an APK and that was it. Looks like things have changed since then. Any guides?
Hello..
I have a One Plus 6T since 1 year and this is the first problem that I have..
I updated the phone a few weeks ago with the last update 9.0.17
Yesterday I did a Wipe data+cache to restore the phone like new..
But I have one problem.. I always disable the apps of google like Duo, Chrome, Youtube and Photos.. But once they are disabled in a few hours automatically they came enabled again.. Why!!???
I know that using adb I can delete those apps but I prefer to use the disable option of the system.. In the last versions of the OxygenOs this was working fine but not now and I know that there is more people with that problem. Anybody knows why,??
Many thanks for the help
I freeze some apps with sd maid as I noticed the same or similar issue
I believe is has to do with the OOS update. I had that problem as well before. I am rooted so I used Titanium to freeze the apps. When things update it appears the app is functional and does not reinstall it.
If you are rooted, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the xXxNoLimits Magisk module. It allows you to debloat both Google and Oneplus apps.
Many thanks for the answers.. I just want to use the tools that offer the system.. I think that is the last update because in the old ones this works like a charm.
I have not rooted yet the phone because I think that OxygenOS works fine without root maybe in the future I will start with magisk modules and custom roms but for now I'm going to wait.
I'll keep waiting for new OS Updates and maybe is solved. Many thanks for the help.
