Complete removal of the proximity sensor - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I physically remove the proximity sensor off my phone or does it involve special heating tools etc? I really dont want to struggle with apps and fixes any more. They dont work. My screen goes black while still responding upon touch like it would be if it was on. Tried too many apps, they dont do anything. I would love if there was a way to simply disable the sensor completely. I realy dont mind the screen to be always ON. Anyway, thank you in advance for any help. Next step is a new phone...

What else could it be???
I opened my phone and took out the ribbon of the proximity sensor detached to the mainboard. Rebooted, typed 3845#*802#, checked that there was NO DATA at the proximity sensor test .... and the problem stayed with me, the screen started going black again!!!!!!!! Unbelievable! At this point I'm helpless, I really need your help, there is nothing else I can think of...

Someone is messing with me...
OK...this just happened as I described above. If that is not the problem...I dont know anymore...

Hi
Did you take the ribbon out of the phone or is it still inside?
---------- Post added at 07:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:38 PM ----------
Put the ribbon strip back on the morherboard port.
Then cut a small piece of paper and fit it over the sensor.
See if this solves your problem.

Bottom of Screen Does Not Calibrate

I recently purchased an MDA off ebay from another member on this site. They claimed everything on it was fine, but upon receiving it I found that the bottom of the screen didn't respond. After playing with the calibration I found that the bottom of the screen wasn't completely "dead" it just thinks its being tapped on a different spot of the screen. The seller claims this is a software issue, but after several flashes from different roms the problem still persists. Has anyone else seen this happen? And does this sound like a hardware issue?
I opened notes and took a picture of what happens when trying to use the scrollbar in landscape mode to show how off the calibration is at the bottom. Thanks in advance for any help I can get on this.

I had this EXACT same problem. I had the mistake of pushing down too hard while applying a screen protector and it pushed in the screen on the bottom. From that point, I could never calibrate the bottom of the screen. I was able to get a replacement, because I told Cingular that it was broken and it was only a month into my contract.
So, I think the guy probably messed up applying a screen protector or accidently somehow pushed in the bottom of the screen. This is in no way a software problem....deff hardware issue.
Thanks for the response. I filed a claim with paypal for a refund. With the way that it was packed I'm amazed the phone works at all!
Im sorry to hear someone trying to get over on you. Hope everything works out.

Broken Prophet, need help.

A'ight, so i opened my good old' Prophet today.
I am 50% sure that the battery thing thangy on the motherboard (see pic) is broken.

However, it might also be the battery, i have two batteries, one is the one that came with the Prophet and one is a cheap battery i ordered from Dealextreme.
I do know that the cheap battery is dead, but the other one (I did some testing with it, it shows up at 1.4V at my multimeter) i'm not sure if it is dead.
The phone has been like this before:
It randomly worked, randomly turned off, it wouldn't work for like 10 days, then when i put the battery in again it worked.
It kept doing that until it died completely.
Any suggestions?
I can't understand on photo. A battery pin is broken? If the problem is broken pin, a watchseller or jeweler can fix it. They have the right equipment to work with small things

You think they will fix this?
I would try to get a new (third) cheap battery.
Or try to re-animate the cheap one (dangerous, forbidden, but works often for me: open battery casing, unsolder LiIon-Cell, reload with Lab power supply to around 3-3.8 V (never > 4.2V!!!!), resolder, put in Prophete, start charging....)
The pins look ok. 1.4V for LiIon is below the deadly shutdown value!

OK, maybe my answer is a bit late...

According to an answer by someone a year or two ago, that's rare but can happen. Turn off phone, remove and reinsert battery then boot up again. Should be fixed. (but I assume you already tried this)
I will look for the original post 'n' see if I can find it, though I should note that the guy's screen was white, and not red.
EDIT: nope, couldn't find it. basically because I didn't know what to look for, I just remember seeing a post with a screenshot and a screen like yours (except in white) and someone replies to him, it was in 2010 .... sorry.

Note 4 Display turns on by itself or minimal touches

Hello, friends of the Note 4.
Im note sure if i am right here to ask about a specific problem.
Like i mentioned in the headline, the display of my phone turns on by minimal touches it seems, for example if i take the phone in my hand but not puch any button. Can be that it also turns on without toches, im not so sure.
The effect is hardly reproducable though, by handling the phone rougher just to see if the display turns on. Not sure.
Im a little stumped by this problem, since it didnt changed by flashing another rom. Im a little afraid that it could be a hardware problem... Hope not.
Do you have any advice for me what to try or in what direction to look for a solution?
Thanks!

What even is Quick Glance? I use a Note 7 rom, by the way... Just truned off smart stay. It will take time to see if it solved the problem.
I think this problem is related to the apps that can appear on top like pie control, drup or any other 3rd party apps. So try to disable them one by and see which app is causing this problem. Cheers

Screen off, intermittently flashing LED? o.O

Hello guys. Which sensors are on the front of telephone? I was taking pictures for a guy who asked me the photos of the phone, so i took a couple of it with the second display off/on, and I noticed that there is a small LED that flashes intermittently when the phone is switched off the screen and some time when is on, below the front camera ... to the naked eye you do not notice it, in fact i have never seen, but if using a camera you see this LED that blinks continuously. With the phone turned on does not do it, only when it is switched off ...
It is not any reflection, I used two cameras and from different angles you see the same LED always flashing in the usual place ...
Does anyone know if it is normal this thing ??? Thanks

It's the proximity sensor.

But it should not go ON only for calls?

Nope, that behavior is completely normal.
The proximity sensor is also used to prevent the use of the power button and the fingerprint scanner when the is zero light. Personally this annoys me since I came from a Nexus 5X, and unlocking the phone in my pocket gives a feel of a faster unlock.
Great, thank you all for the answers. I was already worried lol
However Note 5 did not do it ... meh!
Thanks again!
