[GUIDE]: How to flash CRB7 using Odin - S8+ - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Guides, News, & Discussion

UPDATE (27TH FEB 2018): We now have Odin v3.13.1 which is compatible with the new .lz4 compressed files referred to below in the tutorial. All the steps below are only required now if you are using a version of Odin older than 3.13.1. It is recommended that you use this new version to save yourself the hassle.
Odin v3.13.1 - XDA Link
S8+ G955F / G955FD (F ROMs work on the FD variants, there are no FD specific ROMs):

Mirror Link 2 (Android File Host) - Thanks @panchuckles
Mirror Link 3 (OneDrive) - Thanks @Brotuck
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me start of by saying, Samsung changed some things around with Oreo. I downloaded 'XXU1CRAP' using SamFirm today, tried with both TUR and DBT CSCs, to make sure it wasn't a bad download or anything, but Odin just wouldn't accept the file. It froze on the first step, sboot.bin.lz4.
I had never seen the .lz4 extension before, so I asked a couple of helpful lads in the Samsung Oreo Telegram group who were very helpful throughout this process.
For those of you who want to join:
http://t.me/sammyoreoclub
Samsung is using a new compression method for the Oreo ROMs, so all files within BL, AP, CP and CSC have the .lz4 extension which Odin has trouble reading, and so the flash will never go past the first step.
Note: THIS DOESN'T TRIP KNOX.
Pre-requisites:
-SamFirm to get the CRAP ROM - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
-Windows PC
-This modded version of 7Zip which can open .lz4 files. Link - Github
-The ability to read the instructions below.
-Prince Comsy's modified Odin - Google Drive Link
-A Galaxy S8/S8+ (G950F / G950FD / G955F / G955FD) - I tested this on my own G955FD and it worked just fine.
-The XXU1CRB7 Oreo ROM for your device
-A decent amount of storage space on your PC
-Preferably some experience with flashing using Odin
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED DEVICES, FOLLOW TUTORIAL AT YOUR OWN RISK.
INTERNAL STORAGE WILL BE COMPLETELY WIPED CLEAN (IF YOU USE CSC_OXM), MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING.
IF YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE SHOWS AS '16 GB' AFTER FLASHING, DO A FACTORY RESET AND IT'LL RETURN TO NORMAL.
Steps below:
1. Extract the zip file for the 3.7 GB firmware file you just downloaded. Should contain 5 files, AP, BL, CP, CSC_OXM and HOME_CSC_OXM.
In the tutorial below, I will be using CSC_OXM, however that does wipe internal storage.
If you are coming from ZRA5 or just don't want to wipe your data, use HOME_CSC_OXM instead.
2. All the files will have ".tar.md5" extensions. Remove the .md5 part so they can be opened in either WinRAR or 7Zip.
AP will contain a folder called 'meta-data', userdata.img.lz4, system.img.lz4, recovery.img, boot.img.lz4
Extract all these files from AP into a new folder. Right click on each one, select the '7Zip Standard' menu and hit 'Extract Here'.
This will extract all the files within, without .lz4 extensions. So you'll have userdata, system, recovery and boot as plain IMG files.
Note: Repeat this for CP, BL and CSC_OXM.
3. Grab the original file names for the files you extracted earlier, copy paste them into notepad.
They should be in this format, make sure .md5 isn't added at the end of any filenames. Do keep in mind that the filenames for the S8 (G950F) will obviously be slightly different.
Code:
AP_G955FXXU1CRAP_CL12993656_QB16754780_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar
BL_G955FXXU1CRAP_CL12993656_QB16754780_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
CP_G955FXXU1CRAP_CP8821296_CL12993656_QB16754780_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
CSC_OXM_G955FOXM1CRAP_CL12993656_QB16754780_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
4. Select all the files you extracted for AP (including the meta-data folder), right click, scroll down to the '7Zip Standard' menu again and this time hit 'Add to Archive'. Copy-paste the filename for whichever file you're creating an archive for, AP, BL, CP or CSC, make sure archive format is set to .tar and leave everything else default and hit 'OK' at the bottom of the window.
Note: This too will be have to be done for CP, CSC and BL as well.
5. Once this is done, you should have 4 .tar files ready to be flashed. Open up Prince Comsy's Odin, add each file to it's respective field in Odin.
6. Connect your device in Download Mode, press Start, and wait for the flash to be completed and for Odin to show 'PASS' at the top of the window.
Your device will reboot automatically.
ALTERNATIVELY, you can watch this very crappy screen recording I made for a better idea on how to do it.

Credits go to:
@FatalONEM8 and @me2151 for helping out.
Tino Reichardt (mcmilk) for the modified 7Zip
Prince Comsy for the modified Odin.
Samsung for making flashing more and more difficult every year.
----------------------------
For Linux/Ubuntu, @kernel.killer has created a script to unpack the .lz4 compressed firmwares without having to do all of the above manually.
See this post - Link

Very useful, thank you. I still hesitated to flash, but now I'm going to start.
Thanks again.

Awesome guide thanks, I'll try and report back

that what I did but boot file cant be opened by 7-zip

What a brilliant title.
How to flash CRAP
L O V E I T!!!!
Thanks for putting this tut together folks!

thanks download links ?

When i tried to update with the 4 file, Odin read them without any problem, but when i press start, phone just reboot. Maybe it is just because i was trying to flash the same version of firmware (CRAP over CRAP)? Maybe i'll have the error reported if just started to flash... but my question is: is it possible to overwrite the firmware with the same version using Odin?

Yeah that did happen with me.
If you use HOME_CSC and flash CRAP over CRAP, nothing happens.
You can overwrite if you use CSC_OXM.

[HELP]After EFS Bootloop->All attemps verified failed

Good Morning @ll.
I hope one of you can help me. I´m here for years with my HTC. Than i change to iPhone and now I´m back with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
What I do:
- became "root", no problem.
- searching for one ROM, no problem.
- Install from the Play Store the "GooManager"
- Now I start in Recovery Mod
- Then I see i must be make an Backup. I Download the "EFS BACKUP" from the AppStore.
Now the problem starts.
After rebooting I have messages from Android with "problems by starting the system" Wait or OK" I can´t Reset in the Settings the Note 3. I do in the Recovery Mode first the Install from the new Rom.
Now I have the problem with the Bootloop. When Android starts, after a few try, I can´t go to Settings->Infos for the system or do a complete Restore. I can´t connect to the Internet because Wifi doesn´t connect and the sim card the have in the right corner an "ban" logo.
Ok, i search here for somethink. I use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507403
I use the Java JDK and the Android SDK for ADB. Install it and use it under System->Path! ADB is working in CMD.
When I go to the CustomRecoveryMod, the PC doesn´t Notifite it. Only when I say "apply update from ADB" I can send with "adb sideload c:\update.zip" a file.
I want to connect it and want to try the "adb shell", but I can´t

Ok. Then I see an Zip file for it. Download it, put it on the MicroSD and go to the CustomerRevocerymenu and want to update it.
I use the Odin Updater with a German Rom and a PIT File to debrand the Note 3: http://www.android-hilfe.de/anleitungen-fuer-samsung-galaxy-note-3/509516-anleitung-note-3-debranding-alle-eu-modelle-zu-dbt.html

You didn't have any custom recovery installed?
Try to boot into download mode and flash TWRP by using Odin.
Make sure the driver has been installed.

Note 4 SM-N910W8 - Help

Hi
So I got this note from a seller online. The seller was forth coming in letting me know of the problem with the phone. It was stuck ultra-saving mode and the person didn’t know how to get it out of it, hence I got a good deal to tinker with.
NOW, I am stuck. As you can see from the pics below I am trying to flash it with kies. However, its unable to write.
There was an instance where download screen was telling me that I was missing PIT file, and now its just unable to write to system………

Solved!
Hi guys,
So after weeks of reading up on possible solutions, I got the N4 to work.
Here are the steps to try out, this is for the SM-N910W8 model, but you can find the pit files and your specific files online or from the links I post.
You will need 3 things;
1) Odin – I used the 3.09 version.
http://odindownload.com/Samsung-Odin/#.WCvgpeYrKMo
2) Pit file: http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30022
Search your model, for me it was the SM-N910W8.
3) Download the latest firmware from online - http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Try to get the original carrier brand you have but I used a unknown one.
(on a side note, this step will take 2 hours, at-least for me it did. Damn you regular download)
2016-05-30 Unknown 6.0.1 N910W8VLU1DPE2 N910W8OYA1DPE2
Steps:
I loaded up the pit file, and the AP file extracted from the firmware on ODIN.
NOW MAKE SURE – IMP – when you load the files on ODIN have the following boxes ticked off!!
 Auto-Reboot
 Re-Partition
 F. Reset Time
Make sure your device is in Download mode and plugged in the PC as well as recognized by ODIN with a COM ID.
Press START and cross your fingers and legs and whatever you can find.
Hopefully, it went smooth and worked out.
All credits goes to the contributors in XDA and Sammobile and various other forums for providing insights and technical knowledge. You have to do your reading and above all be patient and something will work out………….

Hey there, I'm getting the following error: "Device does not have DRK, (Device Root Key), ...." please install DRK etc... (sorry, didn't get the rest of error msg, got distracted by wife)
I was hoping your solution would fix my problem but it didn't.
I did however find the files I needed on various sites but these bastards are all charging for it. Any ideas where I can find these files for free or if you know of an alternate solution?

I can not install an original ROM, and I can not do a hard reset [SM-G530T1]

I went to do a root on my Samsung Grand Prime and it occurred some error and corrupted the system (I think). The phone turns on and is locked on the initiation screen. I have tried to install several different ROM, from various sites, including the original manufacturer. Anyway, nothing helped, always gives error for Odin (including I used different versions of Odin too). I also can't access the recovery mode so I can do a hard reset.
Would it have any way to make the hard reset of the phone through the PC? I've tried everything and so far I've got nothing.
Model = SM-G530T1 (METRO PCS)

What instructions did you followed? Does the rom no longer boots or gets to Android or download mode? Maybe you forgot to enable OEM Unlock option available at Developer Options.
Hey, look
First, from the recovery, wipe the system, the data and everything (cash, davlik)
Then, go to the samsung firmware site, and search your phone model number, then download the firmware
Finally, install the ROM to your phone via Odin
And everything should be fine

I followed all the steps correctly. I downloaded the original ROM, Odin. I activated the debug mode and left marked the Unlock OEM option in developer mode. I enter the download mode by mobile (the recovery mode is not working), I open the Odin, select the file PIT and the PDA file, start the process, and then a few seconds later says it failed, and on the phone pops up the error "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot] Fused 2 > Binary 1 ". I can't get rid of that mistake. I have tried more than 5 different ROM and all end up giving that same error on the phone. I just wanted to know some way to get into recovery mode and do a hard reset. But it's not working through the buttons on the phone, just to enter the download mode.

Tell me your phone baseband.
Also can you boot to Android? According to logs it seems that Odin was not able to write anything on your device. So it should be bootable to Android.
Which firmware did you tried to download and install? Tell me the CSC of it. If possible link to the firmware site.

Where can I look at the baseband of the phone? As I said, I tried with several firmwares, and none had succeeded. I will leave the links of all that I have tried to use. I'm trying to download the firmware from Sammobile, but the downloads for free will only be back tomorrow, on Monday.

My rooted device has Custom binary blocked by FRP with disabled USB debugging

I know, firmware of my device, flash with Odin3, but that method doesn't work, because the USB debugging and the whole developer settings are disabled.
So, I can't turn on my Samsung Galaxy j5 2016, because if I try, it say ,,Custom binary blocked by FRP, secure fail: kernel". I downloaded a lot of firmware for my device (SM-J510FN, Hungary) and try to flash with Odin3, but it not work. I write the full error message of Odin3 bellow.
I tried to instal Samsung USB driver, but nothing has changed. I need to do more than install the USB driver? Maybe I download a wrong version?
I tried to use Samsung smart switch, but the Windows application do not detect my device, I think because my phone is turned off. Or how it works?
Odin3 say this if I try to flash the Firmware:

Can't boot to recovery mode, if I try it say the same thing. And what version of Odin3 is enough low?
I'm getting the same problem, my GF turned off the USB Debuggin and now I can't fix it anymore... (Using custom rom Epsilon_Orionis_ROM_V1_By_LUCiONE )
I searched a lot, but nothing works until now.
Did you try to put the .PIT file and enable the Re-Partition? Unfortunately I can't find the .PIT to G570M

You don't need PIT file, it's for repartiton! Download SamFirm ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647/amp/ )and download FW from there and try!

I will try, but can I really flash that firmware with Odin, even if when the USB debugging are disabled? This USB debugging thing is the source of all trouble.
Someone can recommend me some forum or something, where I can write this question?

USB debugging is for ADB, not for Download mode, so no it can't interfere with Odin3

Yes, I tried with SamFirm, I did the download of Firmware (everything ok until there). After Run Odin (3.13.1 and others version) with Admin privileges, but stops at step "Setup Connection...".
I have the USB Drivers, tried with anothers USB Ports (2.0, 3.0) and I already used Odin before and never happened it.
So now, I have no ideia what can I do. I am desperate...

Tried it too. Did the download of last version of Samsung USB Drivers... Is there any other option?
Edit: After reinstall Samsung USB Driver it works. It's reinstalling the Stock rom (BL, AP, CP and CSC ). After it end I come back to edit my comment.
Edit 2: Omg, thank you so much. Everything is working again.
I did the download of the last version of Samsung USB Driver right here
Install it, restart computer, run Odin 3.13.1 as Admin, use the SamFirm too, so you will have the last version of Stock Firmware, put the BL, AP, CP, CSC (Put HOME_CSC if you don't wanna lose userdata )and Start.
After 10minuts my J5 Prime finished the Loading and now I can configure the phone again.

Your phone looks rooted/modified earlier, looks like you bought a modified/tempered or a second hand phone??
Phone has dm verity error along with frp lock on which means oem unlock is off..
Did you tried modifying your phone in anyway??
What was the last firmware number on your phone ?
Sent from my S7 Edge using XDA Labs
I bought it more than 3 years ago New from Amazon. The status was stock since some weeks ago that I was trying to reflash and it changed.
The phone had oem lock and no root nor custom recovery at the moment of the Ota failure.

Maybe you got a modified phone and once you started flashing it got errors, such things happen on modified phones mostly..

Also the state of the phone you say is because the system status in the bootloader sais "custom"? That changed recently and I don't know why.

I don't know what I have done, but the phone is stuck in the " Downloading... Do not turn off target" and the current binary has changed to "custom".
Also if I try to enter the recovery it appears the same "downloading... do not turn off target" as in the download mode but with a WARING: CMDLINE parameter modified.
And can't flash BL, CP and CSC.
Edit: I have not seen any error after the error in the last screenshot, but maybe I have missed it
Also sometimes now appears this error. I time something triggered the FAP lock.
I don't know what should I do now.

Damn , your display screen looks like it took a round from hell lol
This isn't normal, i'm sorry this looks like a hardware issue.. i can't say why this happened in first place..
To be honest.. even very badly bricked devices didn't had such issues (probably because they were badly bricked but hardware was fine..)
Try to get it checked in a samsung or local mobile service shop, thats all i can say about your unfortunate phone

Maybe some modified odin would let you complete flashing.. but i fear you have hardware damage due to some damn reason ..
