Sorry for the newbie question i am using samsung s4 from o2 uk and have their 4.4.2 version, i am unlocked now so can downgrade or upgrade to BTU unbranded 4.4.2 versions of which there appears to be 4 available in sammobile.
I understand that there is a new bootloader in 4.4.2 so am i able to upgrade /downgrade to any of the stock 4.4.2 firmwares without tripping knox or losing my imei?
I know to my annoyance that the new bootloader efs v2 in 4.1.2 xxemg4 for the samsung s3 prevented me to downgrade to any of the previous 4.1.2 stock roms due to this much to my annoyance as the battery life was superb on xxemc2 4.1.2 so i don't want to make the same mistake with 4.4.2, does anyonr know if there is another bootloader version in the latest 4.4.2 stock rom that may cause a similar issue?
Bear in mind i only want to be able to up down grade to any of the 4.4.2 that is available not go to 4.3 or up to 5.0 as far as you're aware are all versions of 4.4.2 BTU ok to flash in odin without issues?
no downgrade from kitkat

I dont think you follow what I mean I dont want to downgrade from 4.4.2 per se I just want to use the other stock versions of 4.4.2 kitkat that have been released. Am I unable to downgrade from a higher version of kitkat to a lower previous version of kitkat that was avaialble a month before?
Same BTU stock version ie ugn9 down to ufn8 or something

Yes as long as you are downloading the correct firmware for your phone based on model number you will be able to downgrade. Just use Odin and you should be set.
You can flash any 4.4.2. The different versions don't matter.
Are you 100% sure i can up or downgrade to any of the 4.4.2 versions?
I dont want to make a mistake like i did with my s3 whereby i updated to 4.1.2 xxemg4 the latest version of 4.1.2 available but had an efs v2 so was unable to downgrade to any of the 4.1.2 versions below it.
4.4.2 kikat has a new bootloader but they all have the same efs version right? Thanks for the help
Hi,
I have a Note 4 910C that I upgraded to Lollipop (official version but from another country) and I'm thinking about downgrading to Kitkat because the official lollipop version in my country is not available yet and I also have problems with Waze. Will downgrading from Lollipop to Kitkat (official version of my country) activate the knox flag or is it safe to do without losing warranty?
TIA.
It is safe AFAIK. Download the official KitKat rom for your region and flash it using Odin.
Edit: do remember to perform a factory reset before and after flashing the official ROM.
So I've just rooted my 4.2.2 stock Galaxy Note 3 and I want to upgrade to Lollipop. To this day, LP was only released for Russia and India for SM-N900.
I want to know:
1) Would it be safe to flash these updates from SamMobile, knowing that the SM-N900 is the carrier free, "international" version of the Note 3 ?
2) If yes, are these localized for Russia/India or would I have all options that would be available in a standard English release ? (language is obviously my first concern)
3) If all of the above is fine, would updating by flashing with Odin require a data wipe of the phone, or can I just update and reboot my phone with all apps/data, etc.. as if I've updated using OTA? I want to keep everything I have on the phone as is.
Thanks for taking the time to answer !
Hi guys i wanted some advice on firmware/towel root please.
I got my s5 g900f on uk vodafone running Lolipop 5.0 BNL9 firmware.
I want to downgrade it to stock Kitkat 4.4.2 using odin so that i can use towel root to root it with knox 0x0.
I read there are 2 official stock Kitkat firmwares that towel root works on, ANCE & ANE2. Therefore i need to flash either.
Can someone please tell me which firmware out the 2 above is more stable and has better battery life? Should i flash the ANCE which is the official out of the box firmware or should i flash ANE2 which is the 1st update that came to the device?
Also could someone confirm that after the downgrade, if will i have any modem or wifi issues? Thank you

There have been 4 firmware 5.1.1 updates for the BTU s6 edge plus G928F. Does anyone know if it's still possible to downgrade to older 5.1.1 firmwares if i upgrade to the more recent ones?
I don't want to get stung like i did on my samsung s3 where i upgraded to 4.3 but couldn't downgrade to the 4.1.2 version i wanted (xxemc2) I could only downgrade to 4.1.2 xxemg4 which had significantly worse battery than xxemc2.
Can i upgrade downgrade to any of the 5.1.1 versions or is there a new bootloader efs that's going to mess me up?
