When did you have it and what is the corresponding security update?
Thanks

Seems like they dont care at all about this device.
On Firmware Finder there are some more recent builds (B352 last time i checked), but they dont seem to release those updates on OTA.
9 Months security patches behind... Quite bad for such a device.

Does the 307 work better than the 303? What improvements are there? How is the consumption in airplane mode? With the 303 it is 1% every 24 hours or 0%, incredible. I have read a colleague say that with the 307 the battery in airplane mode consumes a lot of battery ... greetings
Bought mine on the first of Feb. updated to 7 as soon as II got home.. B350 build (Middle East) May 2017 patch..
There are no improvements, only November security patch.
Battery is worse than it was on B303, I get only about 6 hours SOT, in airplane mode.
Standby time is still very good.

So I better stay in 303? For me, the battery is very important. How many hours of screen have you lost ... an hour or more?
Yes, about 1 hour less SOT.

I plan on buying the H8 now since it has a gotten a price cut recently. I noticed a few things browsing the forums here.
1. There is thread here in this forum about ways to save battery in the H8, how much is the actual SOT truthfully if someone would kindly tell, in a trickle usage, say 15 to 30 mins of gaming, an hour or 2 of watching YouTube, quite a few hours of music playback both stressing and local, and always on Wi-Fi, and also I'd want my notifications when they arrive but ALSO I DO NOT USE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR SNAPCHAT. Just WhatsApp and Hangouts.
2. What is the screen getting dim issue ?
3. If I don't unlock the bootloader and root my device, I'll get all OTA's. Now, in a thread here only I was reading about updates being launched in a website about a week or two before OTA launch. The latest one being for the November patch with EMUI 5.0.1. How the hell did the updating system of the H8 work can anyone clarify.
4. And what is the requirement for rebranding the phone to 19 from 09 or 04.
I want to get this phone for its screen, and performance mainly. Can anyone also share if I should be aware of any other bugs or issues with this phone before making a final decision.
1) with what ur doing, probably around 5 hrs SOT, 5hrs 45 mins maybe if u tinker with the settings, I've gotten 6 hrs with 10 percent left before doing mostly YouTube and reddit.
2) no idea what that issue is, don't think I've ever had it
I don't really mess with my phone's so idk about 3 and 4.
So far i haven't ran into any big bugs. I've had this phone for a year and it's great, performance is really smooth. Maybe a hiccup here or there but they are few and it recovers pretty quick.

If you are on a budget and can't afford the Honor 9. Then why not.
Will probably not receive any further major updates. Security updates are currently available but I'm guessing not for much longer.
If you want a phone for the screen and performance (uncertain about which kind of) you can save some money and go for Moto G5s Plus. Faster graphics processing if you're gaming. Also potentially better software support and development (Oreo available).

Is that the Indian edition ??
If you pair your phones to a bluetooth enabled automobile, then I would not recommend the Honor 8. Nougat 7.0 has issues with several auto manufacturers, just google it. Google's 7.1.2 release was suppose to fix this issue, along with the Oreo update which adds in even more bluetooth codecs, thanks to Sony's help. Since we are stuck on 7.0 and no idea if the Honor 8 will ever see another update, I would avoid it unless you can find a friend with this phone and test pairing it to your auto before buying. It is not pairing to my 2013 Elantra.

noticed no issues with battery on mine. still get 2 days of pretty decent usage out of it.
Can I move to this build using FF from MHA-L29C636B158? I have just picked up this phone and I assume FF is the only way I can get updates and hence Oreo? If appropriate is it best to use 'auto DNA' or proxy?
I got an OTA update from the first Oreo update (got that back in December, before Christmas Eve... 21st maybe?) to .363 last night. Also got last month's security patch. The update change log did not mention anything about WiFi, but I noticed that it seemed to connect "easier".
HI
After send question to Huawei customer service about update my MATE 9 I get the answer :
Dear Mr. Mariusz, Thank you for contacting Huawei UK Technical Support. In regards to your inquiry, Android Oreo should be launched during the course of this year for the Mate 9. While we understand your excitement for it, we must recommend patience for the mean time. Best regards, Alexander Huawei UK Technical Support

How is that possible? I received the 8.0.0.363(C432) as an OTA update like a week ago and so I got January's patch. I know, still a month behind Pixel users, but pretty impressive and I'm happy with this phone. I thought I'd get no updates for my Mate 9 after buying it, but Huawei has seriously surprised me.
Now I've owned it for about a year (only a few days and it's exactly a year since I bought it) and last year alone I got quite a many updates. Oreo itself arrived as an OTA back in December.

My Mate 9 is at MHA-L29C636B183 Bought it as international version. Is there any update coming for this model ?
I'm a conservative user, not necessarily excited about the latest novelties. I use Facebook, Chrome, Gmail, Tumblr, some weather apps and local public transport. I wonder whether there is anything of interest for me in Oreo. Perhaps what worries me is that my Android Security Patch Level is dated 5 June 2017.

What is your build version?
Huawei uses imei-region update method.
If your data is not same what Huawei is awaiting, you cut chances to get update.
Just received Google March Security Patch for my Mate 9. Live in SF. Impressive that update came so fast. Hopefully, Hauwaei realizes how important it is to continue to fix bugs, add security.
Phone is impressive, especially battery power. Never had a phone, being power user, that goes all day and still 50% at night. Beautiful screen, fast, storage.
Got the update about a week ago, nice to see updates still coming. Located in Canada.
Got it on the 12th. Hope the updates continue.
I had the update waiting for a few days, but due to having TWRP, I couldn't install it. Flashed the stock recovery yesterday and updated. The April update is already on FF so hopefully Huawei will continue to push out updates in a timely fashion

Hope you're right. Continuous updates would give US customers confidence in brand & counter negative publicity by right wingers, who are only concerned with protecting US commerce, not security.

If the April patch (USA version) works like the March version, I'm guessing early May to be approved.
FF shows it, but not available, EMUI update shows no updates, so I'd guess it will be a few more weeks
for most people unless you want to jack with the phone a bit.
Buggy
I updated my Mate 9 to the March Security Update a few weeks ago, and ever since then, a few apps have been crashing on startup. Google keep, Gmail, etc. It doesn't say anything after when crashing. And it's annoying as hell.

Are you with T-Mobile? They have their own update process even for Google phones, so OTAs are delayed. If I hadn't manually installed September's security update, I'd still be on August myself. Frustrating.

Well, that eliminates the T-Mobile factor. A quick Google search for Vodafone issues with Pixel 2 OTA times only returns a few results. Not sure what would explain the delay - perhaps a staged rollout?
Sorry for the noob question but only ever done an OTA update before OTA. The file is 1.1gb which I am sure is significantly larger than a usual monthly update, is this correct please? Download it in Chrome then update it?

This also solved it for me!
I'm still stuck on the August patch level here. I'm in the UK on the Three network and I've never been enrolled in the beta programme.
I flashed the Android P factory image via Deuce's script in August (including a userdata wipe), and then I rooted with Magisk.
My phone has been saying "Your system is up to date" ever since. I didn't receive any notification for the September update, nor do I have one for the October update.
I know I could just sideload the updates but I was hoping I'd eventually get the OTA notification so that I could test Magisk's ability to preserve root after an OTA. It doesn't look like I'll ever get the chance...
Both my wife and I have a Pixel 2 and she received the October Update back on Oct 3rd. As of this morning I still hadn't received it.. Saw your comment, realized I was still opted in (my wife doesn't install any betas) so I opted out and almost immediately afterwards got the update
Thanks !!

Yup. It seems stupid that they leave people opted-in after the programme ends (since it doesn't roll over to the next beta anyway) and that affects the distribution of OTAs. But this is Google.
BTW after not having a single crash in a year my phone has restarted twice since this update. Have others had that experience?
