Hi people I didn't know whether to post this in the android development forum so I posted it her.
Soooooooo.......... For people that are confused when they dial in *#*#7378423#*#* and they find out that it says boot loader unlock allowed:no.
I am just going to clarify a few things. Don't worry its not the end of the world you can still unlock your bootloader. thats the good news. The bad news is that it will require you to pay some money. You are probably having this problem because:
a) Your phone is sim locked
b) You are using the R800at or R800X if so then get out of this forum!!!!!!!!
So to solve this problem you will have to sim unlock your xperia play although, you MUST use a software that uses the phone's testpoint to sim unlock the phone e.g. Omnius any other unlocking method used that does not use the phone's testpoint will NOT work.
Once you have done that taaa daaaa!!!! now when you go into the service menu it should say bootloader unlock allowed.
Although your not done yet, now you will have to unlock your bootloader this is FREE to do in fact sony ericcson offers the instructions how to do it themselves. Here is the link to the instructions:
unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
Since i'm a new member xda not letting me put in any hyperlinked links.
Make sure you know the risks of unlocking it!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

No i'm just saying this because the requirements to unlock the bootloader on the se website says make sure it says boot loader unlock allowed: yes
I haven't tried using fastboot or anything this was just for people that were stuck here in unlocking their boot loader i was just sharing that it changes to yes when you take off the sim lock and i know it is possible to unlcok the bootloader of it even though it says its not the steps i have given does unlock the bootloader as i myself have tested it on my friend's o2 locked phone.
On my phone it says
Rooting Status:
Bootloader unlocked allowed: Yes
so do i have to pay money to unlock it or what?
I'd like to try and root it.
My phone was originally locked to O2, I got it sim unlocked from them and i still have bootloader unlock allowed:no ...
You have to do TEST POINT METHOD!
This Unlockes your Sim lock i think as well as fastboot which you need to unlock,
sim locked phones are branded and have Blocked Fastboot with a Unknown Patch the Bypass is test point method however you Must Not ever Update VIA PC companion or OTA Doing so = a brick.
If you want to pay up the money go to Aljendrissimo he has proven 12,000+ people with SE phones Bootloader Unlocked with OTA fix ans Pc companion which means you can have the ICS update but its got the sony suite

If it says bootloader unlock allowed:yes then you don't need to pay to unlock your bootloader just go to the link I put up and follow the instructions.
Also,on the other comments yes this does indeed has to be done through test point method which is very easy many sites do this, I used cellunlocker.net's se unlocking software to unlock mine. I also checked yes by doing the testpoint method it also, gives you the option to unlock the bootloader I do recommend omnius because you can by a android unlock liscense for just 10 pounds but to clarify you DO need your sim unlock to be done through test point so you can be able to unlock the bootloader

What would be nice to know is how to unlock fastboot if your already sim unlocked.
I can understand paying for simunlock but paying for a fastboot unlock while i am already sim unlock would be double dipping.

Yeah I agree I think it possible and is something what the testpoint method does for us if someone could break down exacty what it does I think the developers might be able to find something

It has been broken down for you on the first page, if you do use the test point method then you can't do OTA updates which means, you can't officially update your play when offical updates come out but it's not all bad as you will be able to flash the offical update with a FTF with the flash tool. It is recommended to use the test point method.

No I don't think that is true because you cannot do OTA updates only if you have a locked boot loader i'm not sure where you got your info from mate but i'm pretty sure all the test point method does is sim unlock your phone and does something to make the bootloader unlock possible and that is what I m trying to find out- what it does to make the bootloader show yes .
I have confirmed with various trusted sources if you are still able to update even if you are sim unlocked with test point and they are saying yeah only if you haven't unlocked the bootloader.

So ... there is any results?
So, no chance to unlock bootloader without testpoint, right?
My R800a is not sim lock, I can use it with any GSM sim but the status still says bootloader unlock allowed:no. How can I unlock bootloader ?
Hi all,
If you have a locked bootloader on a branded phone (for example, from Rogers) normal BL (bootloader) unlocking methods will not work. Fortunately, there is a way to unlock your bootloader - it will, however, cost money.
I have a very good experience with Omnius. The program is simple and fast, and the whole process of unlocking the bootloader took less than 3 minutes. Here is how I did it:
go to Omnius downloads, and download Omnius for SE.
Install it. The installation includes all the drivers you need for this process.
Now you need to purchase credits. You can use any of the re-sellers listed here. I personally used GSMServer single unlock licence for 19 USD.
After about a day, you will get an email with username and password. This is your new Omnius account that has enough credits for one unlock. (I am not sure if it is only for BL unlock or also for SIM unlock.. It definitely works for BL unlock though.)
1. Now start Omnius. In the upper left corner choose your SE model.
2. In the server settings, enter the username and password you got from the reseller of your choice.
3.Next click on "Unlock", and select "Unlock bootloader". A picture guide appears that is super easy to follow - it tells you where the test point is, what to do, what to press, when to remove battery, everything. Few seconds later, your bootloader is unlocked!
Hope this worked for you guys!!
(I am in no way affiliated with Omnius, or any resellers listed on their website. I am simply summing up my experience, as I know that BL unlocking for branded phones is a bit of a problem. I hope I did not break any XDA rules by posting a guide involving a paid service!)
Does it void warranty ?
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
Yes it does. But I should have mentioned - this method LEAVES ALL DRM UNTOUCHED, so that by simply relocking BL nobody can find out you did anything with your phone I had my phone in repair 3 times, every single time with unlocked bootloader. I had no problem so far
I just rooted. Does it void warranty instead ?
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
Rooting doesn't void your warranty. Only unlocking your bootloader voids it.

Don't matter, Sony don't recommend rooting, but it will not void warranty.

Does this require any special cable to be used for the test point method? I have seen people just use a paperclip but then I have also seen people use a cable attached to their USB cable, so I am not 100% sure on what I need to use.

Ah that's great! thanks one other question, is it the same method for the arc s? is this method done 100% by me and not by someone connected to my computer? like I have seen some people do.
So what do I need to do specifically to unlock it? Will I have to open my phone up or do I just plug my USB cable in? Also will it be unlocked for good? If I update or downgrade firmwares will it remain unlocked?

I think I can answer the last two questions but someone correct me if im wrong xD you need to open up a tab on the back of the phone underneath the sim card holder to reveal "test points" you will then use them to put your phone in a certain mode which allows you to unlock the boot loader. im also sure that the boot loader if separate from the firmware so once you have unlocked it then it is unlocked for good. im not 100% sure how to do it though because I have seen so many different ways and its just got me confused haha.

my xperia arc s ic carrier branded (sim lock) and in service meni is bootloader unlock allowed: no ... can i unlock my bootloader with omnius without sim unlocking it and will i have enabled fastboot
Yup, that's what this does. It will unlock the bootloader on your phone.
Btw I feel that you should have fastboot working even now without unlocking.
why do you feel this
Further unlocks
Hi there,
I have one question.
I have read a lot of threads about unlocking the bootloader of branded phones, and I haven't found an answer for this question.
Let's say I buy my credits and all, and then I go and unlock the bl, wonderful, but then let's say that I need to send my phone to warranty. So I lock the bl again. Then my phone comes back and I want to unlock the bl again, do I need to buy credits to do it again? Or will the credits I bought on the first time will suffice for the same phone over and over?
Thanks btw for this thread, helped a lot.
Thank you!
Dear all
i have new Honor 7 from China 2 months ago i have asked for Unlocking password after i get new Huawei ID but it said that have to login for 14 days (The Huawei ID used to apply for the unlock code has not been used on the device for more than 14 days.) although i have logged in my huawei id from my mobile for more than 40 days in row as they ask but when i ask for boatloader the same message appear again
i have sent this problem for Huawei technical support team and the told me that they will try to solve it

I’m not sure why, but this problem most user have.
BTW: as i want to do that (a view month ago) i tried 4 different pc’s and 6 different browsers to successfully unlock the bl.

i dont have any card necessary for the payment, first and last time I buy huawei
if you have no credit card, you can try "SMS PAY"

Hi, I have a p9 lite VNS-L31 european version. It has nasty vodafone branding that I want to get rid of. I have tried the metods suggested in other threads here where you copy update.app into a folder called dload on an sd card and restart the phone holding down the two buttons on the side, but all I get is it fail repeatedly at 5%.
I have read around threads but I am none the wiser. Any advice would be appreciated before I throw this thing out of the window because this crappy vodafone rom is going to die one way or another.
Thanks
im on same situation.. the only thing i can flash is c432b160 from huawei site and i can flash only via fastboot
if i flash with same method the new rom 5.0 it will hang on boot up
Sorry to hear Sergio. It looks like this has been done deliberately which makes me super mad. I have tried ADB and fastboot and it still will not let me do it.
Would rooting help to get rid of this crap on our phones?

Hey guys i think you are saying two different things...
About @ba_baracuss i suggest you to rebrand your firmware from your ( C02/vodafone ) to C432 ( european general ) firmware.
To do this you need your bootloader unlocking number first....
If you are on a marshmallow firmware use K1ll3r8e toolkit
If are on nougat firmware you can use HWOTA like explained in this thread.
@sergio_f i think you already tried everything, really don't know how you will get rid of this.
Maybe you could try to update first to B170 using DLOAD method then see if OTA offer you NOUGAT updates...
All the best guys

Sorry dude i had a false memory..
I checked for it too and it doesn't exist... I was asking if you had even B160 firmware.
Is your device a dual sim one ? Have you rooted and / or flashed custom recovery ?
If not maybe could be helpful make a rollback to your first firmware ( ex. B150 ) or reflash B160 again, but i'm not really sure....
Brick is behind the corner, proceed with caution..
Thanks for your reply @Dadditz. Unfortunately I can't solve it yet.
You said I need bootloader unlocking number first - I do not have it. I have tried that before, going to huawei site and putting in various phone info. At the end it gives a dead webpage, with no unlocking number.
I am on nougat and so followed your link and have downloaded the HWOTA as directed, copied to memory card, then when I enter recovery by holding down the buttons on the side, it does a factory recovery and I still have the vodafone branding.
I don't get what he does in the youtube video at all. I just get EMUI recovery and back to vodafone.
Where am I going wrong? Is it because I need the unlocking number? If so how can I get it when the huawei page doesn't work?
Thanks for your help so far, it is appreciated.

Hi,
unfortunately you cannot rebrand without unlocking you bootloader first and flashing a custom recovery...
This is very well explained on the threads i linked you my friend....
If sergio_f cannot help you ( grab the unlocking bootloader number ), maybe with DC-Phoenix, paying some euro/dollar/yen you could do this...
Do some search about...
P.S.: read carefully the guides when you find one... ( at least twice )
@sergio_f
really don't know dude, if OTA stock doesn't work, try with HISUITE, i don't know if dc-phoenix could help.
Under your responsability you could try to follow some guides about rollback or rebrand ( to your actual CUST C432 ),
reflashing then your actual firmware....
I know it's a s***ty standby, but only you can choose.

Hello,
yes like i told this is a paid program. I never used it but I think it's not hard to get work done...
The site provides tutorials on how to read the bootloader code... here
and how to unlock it... here, and a lot of tutorials are present here on XDA too, just search...
Delete ( eventually ) registered firgerprints, enable USB-DEBUGGING and OEM-UNLOCK to proceed...
Usually somethings missed so it's very important to read the guides at least a couple of times.
Best regards

Downgrade as low as possible and give it a try.

First Download This -> SkyEmie/huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader: A simple tool for managing Huawei/Honor devices to unlock bootloader (github.com)
then grab unlock.py from haexhub and replace it. Then its a 'All-in-One Package' - no need to install anything.

THANKS A LOT M8!!!!!!!!!!!
I've started the program but i am just curious how many different codes/how many attempts can there be in total?
Thats a good question, im sure u can find the answer in one of the 2 repos. One is endless (pure bruteforce) vs IMEI + HASH.
I'm still too lazy to Downgrade my Phone to give it a try (with out rebooting every 4 attempts), because no clue if its worth all the effort, as Huawei modding / hacking seems like almost dead.

I have just successfully unlocked the bootloader lock by the Taobao service CNY30. It is done by PC remote control. My P10 phone (VTR-AL00) was firstly downgraded from my EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 5. Then the operation was very fast (ROM firmware loading time was long) & I can't see clearly. At last it was successfully unlocked & the guy gave me the unlock code also. If you guys want to do this, you need to ask a friend who know Chinese writing to chat on the net. Then I upgraded the phone using Huawei official upgrade from the phone to EMUI 9.0. Then I flashed the openkirin ROMs successfully. I've tried all four ROMs (RR, OMNI, AOSP, AEX). All of them have some bugs. One important one is the phone can't be charged when powered off. It will go to bootloader mode when plugged with the charging cable. You need to charge when the phone is on.
Install testpoint drivers ( https://files.dc-unlocker.com/share.html?v=share/18B15B9D02C945A79B1967234CECB423 - these worked for my p10 lite), enter download mode via testpoints then use PotatoNV - https://github.com/mashed-potatoes/PotatoNV , i just did this two days ago then installed twrp and rooted with magisk, fairly simple and insanely useful, only drawback is you need to open up your phone back cover to do it. Works without downgrading on Emui 8
THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT <3
I've succesfully opened my phone with dc unlocker
You may want to try the testpoint method. Worked like charm for me. Check potatonv git and YouTube..
Once we find the code, bootlocker unlocking factory reset it?
