Downgrade from Oreo to Nougat? [SM-G950F] - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

So yesterday I updated from Nougat (not rooted) to Oreo. After I updated I had some issues with my SIM. Basically most of the time I get "Out of service/Not registered in the Network". The SIM is working fine in other Phones. Already tried a reformat (with Stock Recovery) did not help.
So can I just use Odin v3.12 and the S8 Nougat files and flash them?
Will it brick If I do it?
The Oreo Firmware (and my phone) has no carrier. (DBT, Germany)
Same goes for the Nougat Firmware.
Thanks

Please i try to flash with odin the 4 files on already oreo.... The odin software start to flash and in 2 seconds shows done and restart, but doesnt do anything. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Mine fails instantly to , just come back to samsung from oneplus , and need to flash N , tried older odin but still fails.

Can I downgrade to nougat from oreo on samsung note 8 SM-N950U1 ?

Are the firmwares for G955F and G955FD the same?
My friend has the FD version with G955FXXU1CRB7 - CSC ILO (ISRAEL), but I can't find G955FXXU1AQK7 for the FD version for CSC ILO.
Can I use the firmware for the F variant with Odin?
He is having terrible battery issues with Oreo, wiped data using stock recovery but it won't help.

Downgrade from CRAP (8.0) to AQL5 (7.0) and now I have a DRK error and it automatically starts the recovery, some help?

You can't downgrade via odin. You can only flash the same firmware or higher.

Yah.. were the same.. there are two new update on grand prime XTC Philippines (open line) but cant flash in odin. And also can not update the device in OTA. Please help.
This device have secure bootloader, so might be the reason u cant flash updated firmware, only OTA update. IMO need to unlock bootloader first if wanna success flash through odin.
Until now, the way to unlock this device bootloader is unavailable.

To upgrade the device is not necesarry to download the firmware of the respective region, u can flash any version of firmware for another regions, the only need to know is the respective version of firmware is for your device only that, i have flashed many firmware in my prime without issues ever from other regions ( most actual than my original region ) and y device is working ike a charm
Have you rooted the phone?
Can u elaborate what means.of.respective version please? u said that u flash many firmware for ur prime, which.one firmware have u been flashed successfully @tutibreaker
Hello guys I have solve this issue by flashing different firmware I used Nepal firmware. XTC firmware is corrupted.
You can use different region firmware if your phone is openline.

Hey, same problem here. I can't flash any firmware. Odin just errors: Failed [Auth].
And since I've rooted my Grand Prime, I'm not able to update it via OTA
What am I supposed to do?!
Recently I've faced some lags on my phone that I don't know why, but I think I need to update my firmware.

What firmware did you flash? If its XTC then you should try other region firmware like Malaysia or Indonesia. XTC firmware is corrupted.

You have to flash exact soft for your region and phone. Grand Prime have many versions so you must select right one. In East Europe there is no secure bootloader or maybe I haven't encountered it yet. If you have secured bootloader so probably it's gonna be same like Sony or HTC. You'll have to unlock it. I can't say where

Just open your odin then firstly do not connect your device before . Add the files to AP first and then you can connect your device into odin or that firmware you've download did not match .

Before a chance the rom, I rooted my cellphone by this way
[ androidxda. com/root-samsung-galaxy-grand-prime-sm-g530h ]
It worked!
As someone said here, I should need to unlock the bootloader, I looked for I solution and I find this one

this site is in portuguese-Br
it did not work
so, I installed samsung kies, and odin 3.04. And also didn't worked.
Now, I installed CMW recovery

still the same
finally, I downloaded odin 3.10.6, and instal a rom from india. As I find here [ droidviews .com/install-android-5-0-2-lollipop-firmware-on-galaxy-grand-prime-sm-g530h/ ]
Before I was trying Russia's rom.
After all, I noticed, and I read here, that depends on firmware which I was intalling

No not at all, knox will stay 0x0 and your warranty will be retained. I can confirm this becuase i flashed the poland marshmallow firmware on my g928f and used it for like a month and then flashed the uk marshmallow firmware and knox is still not tripped. Afaik flashing the correct stock samsung firmware using odin will not trip knox and you should be all good.
i downloaded the build for my country . however the build number differs and there is no 6.0.1 firmware with my build number : XXU2AOL2 . can i flash it like that?

If your phone is unlocked and is indeed a g928f you can use an unlocked firmware including Poland(XEO) and UK(BTU)/(XEU) firmwares.
You can flash this marshmallow firmware if your phone is unlocked/ sim free. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/67513/G928FXXU2BPB6_G928FXEU2BPB6_XEU/
Make sure you wipe your phone before and after the odin flash.
DO NOT FLASH THIS FIRMWARE IF YOUR PHONE IS NOT UNLOCKED.
if your phone is locked to a carrier then you need to flash the carrier specific firmware for your country and depending on marshmallow availability you may have to wait for your carrier to release it.

Is this the right file to use for updating my phone? I guess I am using Flashfire for updating without losing root? I want to keep the CSC and any other relevant config the same because I will be using this phone in the middle east.
I would appreciate you guys input on whether I should go ahead and also a good tutorial for updating without losing root.
Thank you!

Hey there! G935F is single sim version while G935FD is dual sim version. Seems you have got a single sim. F versions will work for you.
Regarding root. When you flash a new firmware file then you will lose root but that's okay you can again root it again. Just like u did first time.
I would suggest you to go with Odin to flash a file.
you can find the tutorial here:

Thank you for the quick reply @iamansar, I in fact have the Duo version. Will the file suggested by SamFirm work for my phone? (not mess up the dual sim, keep CSC as XSG?). Also regarding updating without losing root, I believe you are suggesting to flash FW using odin then redo the TWRP and Su steps?
Thank you!

I apologise, I didn't see that you mentioned that yours is G935FD w/ XSG.
It seems you can flash G935F file to FD phone and the firmware will recognise it as dual sim and you will get those features.
About root, well I must say I haven't tried rooting my S7 Edge yet at least till its covered under warranty. One thing for sure if while flashing stock firmware, you lose root privileges and you will have to root again.
You can use this latest firmware.

Have you tried connecting your phone with smart switch in you PC/Laptop with Windows/Mac? As you don't plan on flashing some other country firmware, I would suggest you can go ahead update you phone from there. This what I did today, Mine is XSG as well.

J500f (TGY) NO MARSHMALLOW Update

Hi guys my phone j500f (TGY) modele has no update to 6.0.1 .
So my qiestion is how to change csc to (INS) to get marshmallow update.
I already tried flashing another multi csc rom with odin, if failed with : Fail! ( Size!)
Thank you.
Flashing firmware from different region/carrier via Odin should work as long as its the same model which is SM-J500F. There's no need to change your csc. You can choose firmware from any region/carrier from this link: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=SM-J500F&rpp=15&order=date&dir=desc&exact=1
---------- Post added at 11:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:27 AM ----------
If none of the firmwares worked, it could be that your bootloader is locked or it doesn't support marshmallow since there's no marshmallow update for your region.

As I said before, it could be that Samsung (or your carrier) decided to lock the bootloader for your region to prevent you to upgrade to marshmallow, I'm not sure why they did that tho. Just like what they did to J500H, they locked the bootloader for marshmallow so anyone who upgraded their device to marshmallow cannot downgrade again to lollipop anymore.

Firmware change on S7 edge.

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I wanted to know if I can change my S7 edge (exynos) sm-g935fd firmware from UAE to India. I am currently on Oreo G935FXXS8ETCA Xsg which has bootloader 8 if I'm not wrong, but I want to install ins firmware G935FODD7ETA1 also Oreo which has bootloader 7 . Is this switch possible?
P.s. I want to change firmware bcoz I am not getting volte on my phone. I've tried a few things without any luck. And the only solution seems to be to change my CSC. Any help will be appreciated.

As far as I know you can't downgrade due to antirollback protection. I don't imagine switching firmwares would work very well at all

It not a rollback technically it's more of a sideways move but I might be wrong. Is it because of the older bootloader on the firmware I want to switch to?
Thanks for the reply.

If you attempt to switch your bootloader to an older version it can cause a hard brick putting the device into EDL mode but I do believe you can switch the system a bit
So there is no way to change the firmware? Is there any way I can get volte

You should be able to swap the system partition and CSC to something else as long as your not in any kind of Android Verified Boot
I don't know what that is. But I've only been using stock ROMs from ota updates. My phone isn't rooted either. I just want to activate volte on my phone. I would really appreciate if you could help me.

You're absolutely welcome! I'll have a search around Google and maybe point you into the right direction. I'm sure there is a flashable firmware for Odin (combo-firmware) that enables this
EDIT:
Because your on an International chipset (Exynos) you can actually flash a custom OS which supports the Volte. Just ensure you've taken the steps to unlock the bootloader through the developer options in settings (enable OEM unlock)
Don't unlock your bootloader and dont root your phone
if something goes wrong the EFS patition will corrupt and you are on U8
U7 combination firmware is not available and we dont know when will it will be available
you have to download U8 rom and flash home csc from U7 INS (latest software available for India)
it will enable Volte on your phone
make sure to tick nand erase when flashing Autoboot and f.reset time

Unlocking and root have nothing to do with the EFS partition. Sounds like you may have did something like modifying it and caused data to be corrupt and you never kept a backup.

6 monts before i didn't know things now i know things like bl and opening and booting phone wihtout bl and many more
its the easiest method to get INS VOLTE on UAE Exynos Model

Volte used to work before the Oreo update. And won't a custom ROM trip my Knox? (I use secure folder). I recently tried to flash a stock ROM with modified CSC file to get volte working on my S6 g920f. But it didn't work. It tripped my Knox and now my short codes don't work and CSC shows blank. Calls work though. But no volte.
