My Note 4 stop on 91% when charging - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
For the first time i saw my Note 4 (N910C), stop on 91% and i feel that the charger is cold, which means that the charge stops.
I must turn off the phone, plug the charge and on that it continue charging until 100%.
Any idea ?
I used a calibration battery installed from play store, but didn't change any thing.
Thanks to give your advise.
Regards,

1,Dial *#0228# and hit quick start at bottom then hit yes to clear old calibration battery status.
2,go to settings/battery and disable fast charging.
3,turn off the phone and charge with original adaptive fasr charger for 4 or 4 hours.
PLEASE NOTE THIS WILL WORK ONLY WITH STOCK ROM AND NO REQUIRED FOR ROOT.
4,you have to charge phone at least 3 times for 4 hours to recalibrate your battery status.

When i put the code on dial after stoping charging or anytime ?
I never use fast charging.

Take out the battery and put back. Charge it until you see green light not only 100%:good:

Charge it with phone on or off ?

Hi and thanks for everyone.
I resolved the problem by unplug and plug the battery and now it charges until 100%.
Thanks.

Hi,
The problem appears in the next charge, the charge stops at 92% and the charger bcame cold.
What can i do now ?
Thanks.

I turn off the phone and charge it and it rearches 100%.
It's strange.

Battery Problem

Hi
i'm having a problem.
My phone was connected to the charger when i restarted it. Batter was at 77% and charging... after restargin, it showed my battery charge as 100% and the charging light was green/yellow!!! so is there a calibration problem? What do i do otherwise?
It's normal...
It happens to me also... I think it's the problem with the battery software module. Sometimes because of over charging, the battery gets sooo hot...
just in case get ya battery checked
try this.
Hi,
Even i was getting the same problem. While connected to charger it was showing 100%v fully charged but as i removed the charger, the battery went Red. I thought its a problem with the battery.
But it was the problem with the charger. I charge my cell using Data cable through my computer, and its working very very fine like before. I dont want to waste money on buying a new charger
Thanx,
Sandeep.

Help :(

My X1 doesn't turn on anymore! I just woke up and it was off. I left it recharging during the night... Now when I plug it in all I see is a red light on the power on/off button. Any ideas?
Could it be just the battery?
The problem is i got it from someone in England so i'm not sure about warranty.
take off the battery cover and then take out ur stylus and you will see a little hole next to the battery and then take ur stylus and push he little button in tha hole and then that will restart it.
no, that doesn't solve it... but thanks
i tried removing the battery and leaving it off for a while but nothing...
the red light appears only when the phone is supposedly charging
Then leave it charging for hours and don't touch it until the red light goes away. Then you can switch it on again.
Don't let a Lithium-battery run out of power! It drastically reduces the battery lifetime and it's not easy for the controller to charge it again.
Recharge the battery before it runs out, best at >40%
Hmm... think I encountered that red light problem before, though can't really remember how I solved it. Think encountered it when I was charging using another cable (and not the original one) and later was ok after using the original cable + charger.
Thanks guys
I'll try doing that. I never left it with less than 50% battery though... I have no idea why this happened.
I'll give news later today

When the battery decreases that fast (50% over night) than maybe the battery is broken. If charging over a few hours does not help, you should try another battery.

I left it charging (it was at around 60% when i plugged it)
Still doesn't work.. the red light goes off after a bit and if i try to turn it on (while plugged) a red light by the USB port flashes 3 times.
It has the same behaviour as if the battery wasn't on.
I tried reading the voltage and it's at 3.3v which is 0.3v below normal but that's because it's not fully charged, right?
I'm afraid of throwing away another €35 for a new battery and it still doesn't work :\

Are you charging with a computer?
Try the real charger. You can always try a battery from another one who has the same phone or go to a shop where they sell it and kindly ask for a battery to try.
Should be no problem.
oh man! it's working now! i don't know what happened... I didn't do anything else. In fact, I had just sent an e-mail to Sony Ericsson

yeah i tried the charger as well. No idea what happened here.
Thanks skycamefalling!
edit: Oh yeah... something wrong happened during the charge because now it shows just around 20% battery left! hmm... what could drain battery this fast while the phone is sleeping (and plugged in to the pc)?
Glad to hear your phone is awake again

It seems your USB-PC port does not give currency to the phone. It's the other way around -the Computer sucks the power out of the battery.
You can look in the Hardware Manager (PC) how which currency the USB port provides -it should be around 500mA when the phone is plugged is.
I would suggest using the wall charger to be sure the phone is charging.

It's weird. I've been using the same port every night since I got the X1 and it always charged it perfectly. They all provide the 500mA.
Yeah, I'll use the wall charger from this day on whenever I can haha... *phew*

Battery first charge

hi
what the recommended method to charge the new battery?
1)charge few hrs till full and drain till 0% and charge again?
2)charge >10hrs?
I used to have N6288, it will auto stop charging when full.
Therefore i tend to charge my hp before i sleep and wake up in the morning to off the charger. So which is like charging for >10hrs.
Since i do not own htc before, so i'm not sure about how they charge.
lets say if battery full till 100%, will it auto stop charging?
i only afraid with my charging pattern (charging while sleeping) will make htc batt spoilt.
any advices?
thx alot

Of course it will stop. Every battery will stop charging when it will be full otherwise it would burn or explode.

i see..thx
so how long u charge the 1st time?
Before when I bough Tytn II, I charge it over 10 hours and that works well (3~4 days). Recently I bought HTC Touch Cruise09 and I only charge it for 3~5 hours (because the LED turns its color and I just remove the charger). I will see how this battery works.
How to charge a new battery... the solution. ;-)
Hi,
As erzketis says, you have an internal tools wihc switch of your charge.
I'm an electronical technician...
As the charger is a 1Aand the battery is a 1.1 Ah.
In two hour maximum it should be OK.
For me, I went to the sport and 3 hours after, it was OK.
What we usually forget to says is 2 things:
- After the first charge try to use at maximum your battery, let put it close himself (memory effect even if we says taht Lithium has a minus effct, it's a bull****). Try to reperform the same thing 5 times before going on the second tab...
- Avoid to charge you phone when it's not necessary (desactive auto charge when connected on USB). I'll says, wait till 10~0% to charge it. I know it's not prctical, but you'll have a better battery life.
I hope it will help you.

Charging issues.

I've noticed that when I leave the phone plugged in overnight it sometimes just seems to stop charging at a random point somewhere throughout the night and I'll wake up with a phone that is only at 80%, 65%, etc.. battery. It isn't fully charging and then just being drained again either, it just randomly stops charging. It will recognize that a charger is plugged in and even says that it is charging but the percentage indicator in the Settings pulldown doesn't move. This doesn't happen every night and it has never happened when I charge the phone during the day. I assume it only happens at night because I'm not at my desk using it. I can also assume that the device isn't taking 8 hours to go from 35% battery to 75%, it doesn't charge that slowly. Any ideas?
P.S Rooted but on stock ROM

I would try the charging cable that came with it and if it still does the same thing I would say you have a problem with your phone.

Yeah, I have been using the cable that came with it. I've tried two different ones. I will try to see if it happens when charged through wall outlet.
Sorry for double post. Couldn't figure out how to attach image to an edit.
I looked at my battery settings and this is what I noticed. It looks like my phone is charging all the way up during the evening and then draining but the charging isn't kicking back or something. The huge gap in screen on time was when I was sleeping and there was no use of the device but battery is steadily draining.

As stated in previous post, I have not. That is the plan when I get home.
I have tried it through the wall charger for the past few nights and it charged just fine. I also tried it through the same cable that my N7 and Gnex were charged with and it still happened. I also tried various USB ports. Any ideas?

Is it possible the computer is sleeping and no longer powering the USB ports?
I had exactly the same problem for one night.
But it can't be a problem with my Notebook because
my Galaxy S charged just fine.
Probably due to power saving options on your computer, be they USB power saving settings or sleep related. If you want to charge faster you should definitely use the wall charger, USB charging is painfully slow for me... if i am using the device, load can exceed the incoming current and the phone will still discharge. Moral of the story > USB charging = useless.

It really isn't a matter of slow charging. I'm charging it overnight so the speed at which it charges doesn't matter to me. As long as it is charged when I wake up. I've been using the same computer to charge my phones/tablets/cameras for two years and I've never had a problem. I'm not even using the device though, it is at night when I'm sleeping.
I have the same problem all of a sudden. Happened twice in the past week, never happened for months before. I never charge from a computer, always with the provided adapter and cable from the wall. A few hours into the night, before the phone is at 100% (varies from 70-90%), it just stops charging. Battery graph looks very similar to the one in this thread already posted.
I wonder which device switches the current off, the phone, or the wall adapter. I would have guessed the phone, and if that is correct swapping the wall adapter won't do anything.
Or you can use Fast Charge from Google Play and flash Franco Kernel.
Then you'll be able to switch from USB Charge to AC Charge by charging with your computer.
However, the battery will heat and you may consume its life, so do not do that too often, only when necessary if you expect using your phone very long times as i do, i just change phone every 5 years or more, depending of my needs.
Also, i noticed than USB Charging slowing down the charge at around 80%, but still charging, i read with Battery Monitor Widget, and i seen it will gives minus ampere.
I almost forgot, you may also calibrate your battery, the first time, charge it to 100%, then remove the file "batterystats.bin" from /data/system or wipe it threw Recovery, that will ensure you to use your battery to 100% next time.
Mine seems to stop charging at 100% and go back down also. Mine usually is between 95-100% when I wake up though. Is that just how this phone works to protect the battery? I've never noticed this in any other phone I've had.

[Q] Not charging after battery got drained completely.

Somehow voltage shown by my spike guard was lower than generally shown. I kept phone on charge for almost 3 hours but after that when i removed battery was still below 15%, at same point when i had started charging.
I was showing that phone is charging but still no increase in % of battery.
After that phone battery got drained as i was busy doing something else and didn't kept phone charging.
Now when i plug in charger for initial some time red light blinks and then nothing happens.
I kept phone in charge for almost 2 hours and nothing,
I used wall plug charged, connected to PC both. same result.
can anyone help?

Hi,
I figured out our GIONEE chargers are no better than cheap chinese ones. SO try with some other better quality charger from LG, MOTO or SAMSUNG and it will get charged.

Gionee phone not charging even when connected and showing charging
Hi Everyone,
I faced the the similar issue recently, I dont know why's and how's about the cause... But, I figured out that the phone starts charging when Airplane Mode is Turned ON. I suspect it to be an Android Issue as I have read same complaints from Android users having phones of different makes.
Hope that we will get a patch or may be its fixed in the newer versions of Android.
My Android Version is 4.4.2
Hope this would be of some help to you.
Cheers!!!
