If you are rooted and on a custom ROM, this RUU will still work, you just need to follow some steps.
1. If you can flash a stock backup, do it, just to be safe.
2. Open up super SuperSU, and remove all root from device.
Steps 1 and 2 aren't required, but there precautionary measures.
Now at this point you should boot into HBoot, and be in Fastboot mode.
3. Flash the stock recovery (attached below) and flash it through fastboot with the command "fastboot flash recovery StockRecovery.img"
4. After that, lock your bootloader with the command "fastboot oem lock"
5. After your bootloader is locked and your on the stock recovery, you can RUN the EXE file provided in the download section above. Just follow the instructions the program tells you and everything should run smoothly from there.
6. Profit.
Now, if you don't like the exe, you can also flash the RUU from your phone, without the need for a computer. However you will need an external SD card and the Rom.zip file I've provided above.

5. After your bootloader is locked and your on the stock recovery, you can remove the external SD card from the device, and take the Rom.zip file, rename it to "0P9CIMG.zip" and place it on the ROOT of the sdcard.
6. Reboot into Hboot, and as it's rebooting put the sdcard back in the phone. It should automatically detect the RUU file and flash it.
7. Profit.

Recovery Issue
I The provided StockRecovery.img will not flash for me apparently because of signature verification. I tried downloading multiple times on phone and PC which is old Windows Vista and may be bad at downloading. Though the file size after download always seems correct. I did restore my stock backup at first BUT it re-roots after reboot.
Fastboot in cmd:
C:\Windows\System32>fastboot flash rec
ery.img
sending 'recovery' (16384 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.886s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 3.064s
Recovery won't start. It shows for A second the "this build is for development purposes only..." flag like from CWM and goes back to bootloader. I should be able to flash A custom recovery again though. Do you know of any "official" recovery downloads for Virgin Mobile A5? I don't know what it is but I have always had trouble finding and flashing stock recoveries for my HTC phones. Even on XDA's DevDB page.
I then tried the RUU exe and that got stuck at "sending... 1/7", assuming because of no recovery. Weird thing is bootloader shows "OS- (1.50.652.3)" in red but it boots to what i had before.
I have not tried to let hboot attempt to install rom.zip.

The .exe just worked perfectly. the OTA Installation from my notification bar kept failing. THANKS for this thread. I previously un-rooted. flashed everything stock. I'm good now. Phone just booted up! Now on the other hand, if ViPER4ANDROID worked on un-rooted phones, I wouldn't have to had gone through all of this lol (and if Google let you uninstall their crap apps).

Just for the VM variant?
Thanks for posting this, had a bit of a scare with my desire this afternoon (ended up just reflashing a backup) but this'll be a good thing to have in my back pocket in case i need it
This saved me today as I was having an issue with a family member's phone not wanting to update OTA because I unlocked and rooted it. Your guide help me put it back to stock and it is now very much stable and usable again. Thank you.
Checksum Please?

i know we are not supposed to request or ask for ETA's i have seen you all over this forum foxy drew and first want to say thank you but i must ask do you think you could provide us with a MD5Checksum In the OP so we can have something match it against it would really suck to attempt to RUU an invalid zip file for people who are not rooted, i only ask because i am assuming you still have the original file on your computer , if not , i would be happy to download the one from htcs site and yours and verify them and provide it to you , if this is not something you are willing or able to do , well i still thank you for all your effort ,
Failed First Time
Think it was because i was rooted and made to many system changes to the framework jar and build.prop and other various changes, when running RUU it caused fastboot to crash just want every one to know if this happens just run the RUU or the .Zip file again and it should work the second time around not sure if it was already mentioned but everything in this guide seems to have worked just thought i would add my experience.
Thank you so much i made so many system changes it was impossible to OTA and i just wanted to get rid of the notification i dont really care about the update (but did want it) i even tried changing my build number was still getting the notification thank you to the OP GREAT JOB

i download the rom.zip three different times three different computers all hard wired connections attempted a Linux distro and windows used multiple compression tools 7zip, build in , peazip, winzip , and a few others and the rom file just fails to open , i was however able to extract it from the RUU by running it and pulling it from the temp directory ( i will not post a guide to tihs and you can easily google the procedure or just think about it hard enough if you are technical enough

I've G7-L11 Running Lollipop 5.1.1 - And its root is hell to me.
No recovery img in google works.. cuz latest twrp 2.8.7 and CWM are made for L01 and L00 NOT L11, thus my firmware kernal rejects the recovery and i got this message when trying to flash or directly boot the recovery img (Failed adb not found)
all fastboot boot twrp.img or fastboot flash recovery twrp.img or any command concerned or related to that issue doesnt work at all.
so please could any one find or build custom recovery for that model G7-L11 Lollipop?
Can any one who has G7-L11 or who is expert help me to get a working recovery?
am sorry brother you had to go through this, i went thru this, but i think i might have found a fix,. there is no custom recovery that works with huawei G7-L11 lollipop, what you need to do is first download the firmware for your phone, the lollipop firmware in order to extract the recovery file, that "UPADATE.APP" file, then download huawei firmaware extractor from
here "http://fs1.d-h.st/download/00173/wwfQ/HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.3.zip"
then extract the files, (if you get stack on how to use it, there are videos on youtube to use it), (Extract Zip with any exctractor then, extract UPDATE.APP with huawei file extractor
Then u need a ADB files, i found using CMD directly very confusing, so download this "https://mega.nz/#!eVx3DKyC!9iI9QwvqTXJtqmfGEExC3S2XMfxWewNezQZWy_7gUz0" its a philwood touch file but it has the necessary files we need, what we are trying to do here is to restore the phone original recovery and flash the update from the exSD Card,.
After you have download the Philwood Touch file(this is a normal zip file) extract the files and inside you will find the recovery img file, just replace this with the one you extracted from UPDATE.APP. so that the philzwood folder will have the original recovery which comes with the update and the one that is usually found in the phone,
Then put your phone in the Fastboot and recovery by holding volume down and power button together, then from the Philzwood recovery first run"adb-windows" then "Fastboot windows" then "Install windows, after you have done this you will have your recovery(Orignal Recovery),
Turn off your phone, Then take the UPDATE.APP transfer the file to ExSD Card(External Memory Card) put it in a phone ( Copy the whole dload file), Now hold both Volume up and down and power button until your phone boot up dnt let go until you see a phone installing from SDCARD Just sit back relax after its done your phone will as good as new, i hope u get this right,.
If the download link for Philzwood doesnt work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHe68zH4jgA there are link down at the description
Or search this in google "PHILZ-TOUCH-6.59-G7-buid-21-02-2015"
Deal All
I have G7 -L11 of Huawei ascend, it's front class broken but working. Can anyone help me to find out the same. In Delhi service center it is not available.
After a restart this morning I am in a bootloop. Only thing I'm able to enter stable is fastboot.
Tried to flash the stock fastboot rom but MiFlash and manually is giving me an error when trying to write the partition.
fastboot flash partition gpt_both0.bin
target reported max download size of 268435456 bytes
sending 'partition' (33 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.006s]
writing 'partition'...
FAILED (remote: failed to write partition)
If I flash TWRP through fastboot I can't enter it with volume up. If I use the bat version to flash TWRP, it restarts with TWRP but after a few seconds in TWRP it reboots into the bootloop.
Anyone any clue before I have to send my phone back to China :/
Use Mi Flash Tool - Install stock recovery
Its a common issue while using Custom recovery. so, to get life to your mobile you have to install stock recovery.
(search google if you cant able to find, because of xda limitation on New Users i cant post any external link here. Sorry!)
Step 1: Download MiFlash Tool & download your fastboot rom.
Step 2: Turn off the device. Press the Volume– key and the Power button at the same time to enter Fastboot mode. Then connect the device to the Windows PC/laptop via a micro USB cable
Step 3: Double click on the downloaded ROM file to decompress it. Open the file folder for the decompressed ROM pack, and copy its path on the computer.
Step 4: Decompress the MIUI ROM flashing tool downloaded in Step 1, and double click on it to install (if there is security warning, select 'Run'). After installation is completed, open MiFlash.exe and paste into the address bar the ROM file folder path copied in the last step.
Click on the first button (circled out in yellow) to Refresh, and MiFlash should automatically recognize the device. Then click the second button (circled out in red) to flash the ROM file to the device.
Step 5: Wait until the progress bar inside MiFlash turns fully green, which means the ROM has been successfully installed. Then your device should automatically boot to the new version.
Step 6: Wait till the phone boot up - at first it may take more than 5 Min.Be patient with it,
Note: Using MiFlash Tool :
At first try to flash without losing data, if doesn't helps, then select Flash All. (for my Redmi 2 prime it worked with flash all). If any error let me know in comment section.:good::good:

Thanks for your suggestion kalachar.
MiFlash is giving me the same error though.
0x8000405: FAILED (remote:failed to write partition)
I managed to enter TWRP once without it rebooting, I checked everything and the problem seems to be nothing from internal memory can be mounted.
I could only mount persist and modem.
Try Full format,
Wipe>Format>type "Yes"
wait for it to complete and then reboot
if the problem still, try flash in Mi flash,.
Hope it useful,.
nothing happen after applying this method

If you are using Yotaphone Flasher (and I suppose it), the problem will be the "random" stuff in the .firmware folder after you download an image. Unzipp everything to the .firmware folder from the .zip archive file (for example: 5.0.0-EU1.1.124b.zip), and overwrite all files.
My YD206 phone also got bricked while trying to update from RU 124 rooted/twrp/xposed to RU134.
Is there a low level tool like ODIN which i can use to reflash/repartition everything?
i guess some of the partitions are not ok and i can't just use high level tool as adb/fastboot to load the new rom - it gives me error during writing to partitions.
To get my YotaPhone out of the bootloop I followed these steps:
- Put your phone in download mode. Keep holding power and volume down, it will get there eventually.
- Use the YotaFlash tool to flash the latest EU or RU firmware, whichever you like.
- After YotaFlash is finished your phone will reboot and still be in a bootloop
- Put your phone in download mode again. Just keep holding power and volume down.
- Now go into the command prompt on your computer and navigate to the YotaFlash folder (for me it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\yotaphone_flasher)
- Now type the following command with your phone still in download mode: fastboot flash -S 512M system firmware/system.img This will flash the failed system.img in multiple parts.
- After the flashing of the system partition is finished reboot your phone with the command: fastboot reboot
After this your phone will restart. It may take around 10 minutes to finish and if everything went right the Android unlock screen should appear.
Omg, yotaflasher actually flashed it properly now.
Not that i haven't tried it like a million times last few days.
On the first run instead of errors during write it went OK and device restarted showing the Yotaphone boot animation.
Remember don't touch it/reboot it while it shows the boot animation - it actually is doing something.
I suspect that last time i did TWRP flash it was successful just the boot was not OK, and now Yotaflasher restored boot also.
I was almost considering buying another copy from Everbuying.

Have you installed the YotaPhone drivers? They are located in the driver folder under the YotaFlasher folder.

all drivers were installed,
the system would not see the phone without installed drivers, but the phone began to flash but failed after erasing the previously installed system

What happens when you try to flash smaller parts for example with fastboot flash -S 256M system firmware/system.img

My knowledge of the process doesn't reach far enough to help you any further I am afraid. My best bet for you is to follow the instruction in this post for flashing not only the system.img but all processes by hand. http://forum.xda-developers.com/yot...-2-yd-206-china-flash-firmware-t3306797/page2 Hope this helps.

Hello there. So I have my Huawei P10 plus for about a half year now, and I found out the huawei's unlock bootloader code site worked, so I just jumped straight at it and unlocked my bootloader.
Everything went well, i could go into fastboot, installed twrp, everything worked fine. Rooted the phone bblablabla..... Then I realised I could not use Snapchat anymore because of the root.
So, I had SuperSu installed. I tried to unroot via there, didn't work. So I clicked "use another root app", wich basicly bricked my phone - i think - . After doing that, supersu wasn't gone yet. So I flashed it away with a zip in TWRP. That broke everything.
Snapchat worked, so I didn't bother that much. But the thing is,
i couldn't change theme of my phone
i couldn't update system anymore.
I tried over 10 days trying to get this fixed but nothing seems to help.
forcing into fastboot, twrp, or huawei's eRecovery, it all just bootst into the default boot or phone.
I have lost all hope and I don't honestly know what to do.
So I can still use my phone, but I can't do system updates or change the theme, and probably more things I didn't yet have found out. I'm sorry if my English is pritty broke, I'm just so pissed off atm I just don't know what to do anymore except for making a post like I'm doing now.
Please, help me.
Thank you.
PS: I know what some people are going to say: reinstall or flash the default rom and hard factory reset. Okay good, first of all I can NOWHERE ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET find my default ROM (boot.img etc), and I can't flash ANYTHING cuz i cant go into fastboot or TWRP.
i am ded
plz help
Hey!
So yeah, just flash your default rom.
It will wipe everything.
For this you have to use firmware finder, or go to this site (for VTR-L09. Type VTR-L29 in the search bar if you have this variant).
Click on filelist when you see : 2018.02.11 VTR-L09C432B185 (/!\ latest Nougat update).
Copy and past the first link that the filelist will provide.
Then download Huawei Update Extractor and Huawei Multi-Tool.
Open the update.zip file and extract the UPDATE.APP somewhere.
Open Huawei Firmware Extractor, click on " ... "and select your UPDATE.APP file.
Right click somewhere in the list and select "Extract all".
Extract everything to a new folder.
Power-off your phone, press vol-, plug your phone to your PC and press power (while vol- is pushed down). You should be in fastboot mode.
Open Multi-tool, go to the Unbrick tab, click on Specify a folder, select the folder that you have extracted the UPDATE.APP to, and hit OK.
If all the boxes are checked (System.img, boot.img, cust.img, recovery.img and userdata.img), you should be able to click the "Brick" button.
If you don't have cust, then you'll have to download the files on the 2nd and 3rd link that I gave you earlier, one of them contains an UPDATE.APP file, you have to extract it and extract its content with Update Extractor to the same folder that you have extracted the content of the previous UPDATE.APP file.
It will take time to flash, but when it's done, it's written in the Progress window in multitool.
When you're done, just update to oreo and follow the TWRP tutorial for oreo and the one for magisk, SuperSU is really outdated.
Well I just did a quick read at your text and saw you needed fastboot. I think you didn't read my post. I can not enter fastboot, otherwise I could have probably fixed it myself. Any suggestions?

I read your post.
Usually to enter fastboot you press vol- and power, but with TWRP you can't do this anymore (my case).
That's why I said : vol-, plug the phone to your pc and instantly press power while pushing vol-, that's the only way that I can enter fastboot, give it a try :good:
