g5 plus or wait for g6 plus - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Should i get the g5p or wait for the g6p? My curremt phone is pretty ****ty but i dont mind waiting a little longer if its worth it

Wait for G6... Moto g5 hasn't got oreo yet, and the G6 will probably get android 9

Support to the companion of above, I believe that it will come with Oreo of factory, and you will have access to Android P, without mentioning also a better processor, better camera, etc.

Thanks guys, have you got any idea about when its coming out?

Honestly, if the G5+ is what you want go ahead and grab it... If you look at the changes in the G line from the original until current, each generation has pretty massive changes, and not always for the better. One was good, G2 was bad, G3 (2015) was amazing, the G4 not so much, the G5/G5S is fantastic, the G6... well, we don't know but the track record is questionable here.

G6 is going to suck, i guarantee.. and not everyone like 18:9 screens

Well you can get g5 plus on a discount and its a year old model while new one will be bit costly. The g5 plus got a great camera not sure how it will turn out in g6

Moto 360 smart watch announced to go with your Moto X

Motorola just announced a smart watch, and it looks much better then most out there. I think they are continuing to impress.

Finally a smart watch that looks like a watch. I'm still not sure I'm interested enough to actually get one but it certainly looks good.
I got a Pebble that's gonna be for sale soon.
Not sure I have a use for a smart watch either, but this is the first one that looks decent and could possibly interest me. I had a Motorola pagerwatch back in 1990, might be fun to have another Motorola watch.
I have a soft spot for high end watches, this one looks like it might float my boat.

can not wait. that matte black metal looks great.
Yes I just saw this too, and I love watches. It looks very nice but not sure if I will ever buy one. I think of watches as accessories that last for years and would be afraid of being stuck with dated tech a year later.

As cool as this looks... it's tough to get excited about it. This is Gen 1 hardware on a 0.9b platform. Given Google's "ship it now, ask questions later" approach to technology - I am guessing it is going to be a mess initially (hell, Android still hasn't gotten bluetooth right and its been how many years?).
But here's hoping I'm wrong...

i am willing to be a retail beta tester for this. lol.
Looks like I found my next smart watch this summer
This looks nice but a little big for my taste. I'll have to check it out when it releases. I have the Sony Smartwatch 1. It works great with the Moto X. I like being able to read all my text messages, emails and play songs (adjust volume as well), while driving. Your wrist is on the wheel anyway. It's a easy look to see messages, or tap to adjust music playback and volume.
No where can I find if this device is a stand alone one or has to be connected to the phone. Anyone knows? Thx!
I almost bought a smart watch but decided against it because I didn't care for the styling. If Motorola's looks as good as it does in the concept video I may buy one at release.

Anyone thinking about moving to LG G3?

A colleague at work has the LG G3. I think it's a beautiful looking device with great specs.
I'm not very fond of this whole Knox business and possible implications with warranty. So I might think about getting the next iteration (LG G4) for my next phone.
Of course, tomorrows announcement of the Note 4 might change that, we'll see.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the LG G3 compared to the Note 3?
And that was worthy making a thread on xda ? :sly:

I should have my G3 by next week, but I am not sure I will give up the Note 3 but I am interested in giving the device a try. In my region only the Exynos based devices are available so this places a limit on the availability of ROMs such as Cyanogenmod that I really would like to run. This being said the LG is also not necessarily a greener field Lg loves their locked boot loaders this can also interfere with loading custom ROMs. If you concerned about tripping Knox most things that would do that would also void your LG warranty I think.
Android Central has a great article looking at their G3 after two months and it may have some insights for you to help make up your mind.

[Q] LG G2 in 2015

I have an Atrix HD that I've extended well past it's expected lifetime, and am looking for my next phone. My priorities are battery life (without huge dimensions) and cost. It seems like the LG G2 (AT&T) would be a step up from the Atrix HD, and at $200 on Ebay, it wouldn't have to be a long term commitment. I was weighing that phone against the One Plus One, but the size was a little off-putting, and I like being able to throw my phone in my pocket and not be too protective.
I was hoping somebody could tell me why an LG G2 in 2015's a bad idea given my priorities. I haven't been able to find many recent articles (as of 2015) that count it out, and it seems like the ROM community is still active, with Lollipop in the works.
For $200, the G2 is a fantastic phone. Even on just the stock 20H rom, the battery is really good.
My only 3 complaints are the lack of SD card, the rear case is really slippy, (which can be sorted easily with a TPU case.) and the lack of a recents button. (which can be sorted with root and xposed.)
Don't be too concerned about Lollipop as there are issues even with 5.1 on the Nexus devices. As 4.4.2 on 20H firmware is really stable with good speed, Lollipop just doesnt bring enough to the party.

There's no reason this phone doesn't meet your priorities, it gives a lot more than what you're paying for.

I got spoiled on the Atrix HD with a 3000 mAh battery mod (shove a Razr Maxx battery somewhere it shouldn't be), and find it crucial to not finding myself out of battery after long train commutes and in an office with poor reception.

The lack of SD card is disappointing, but 32 GB isn't terrible for holding onto some music and locally cached map data.

A case seems like a fine solution. My current car mount is specific to the Atrix, so I'm stuck looking for new accessories anyway.
For $200, it seemed like a great deal and should get me through at least a year or two. Is there any way to predict if the older snapdragon will be able to handle 2 years worth of increasing expectations by programmers?

Camera image quality?

So ive seen a recent video on youtube by TechlineHD about his comparison with the best chinese smartphone cameras and it turns out OP2 reigns at top. How do you think OP2 will fair with the likes of the latest flagships such as the note 5, G4(V10), Iphone 6s, Moto X pure, Droid turbo 2 etc?
Anyone can give their opinions, especially about the details, contrast, dynamic range etc?
Planning to get a replacement for my un-unlockable bootloader G4.
Oneplus camera images are always more into a "raw" yet "potential" side.
The post processing is never that much that it will leave the picture too "dull" for some people at the beginning,
but if you know how to tweak it later, it leave so much room for you to play

How would you say the overall potentialities of the OP2 as compared the LG G4 or Galaxy S6? I kinda have the G4, S6, and Op2 at the moment and I'm thinking of selling 2 of the devices lol.

From what I've seen on videos the s6 has a better camera but for the price it's a really good buy

G4 has a decent cam, but the screen color is deceiving. The photo will suddenly looks dull on other phone display, since G4 screen saturation is crazy high
all phones you have can produce an amazing picture, it depends how you use it and set it up

What'd you do if G6 never gets Oreo?

I wonder what community thinks about this .
Imagine that LG keeps promising about Oreo but G6 never gets it (as they did to G4).
Only some security updates and that's all.
What'd you do?

If it will happen, in autumn I will come back to xiaomi.
I didn't buy it for Oreo and it works as I expected so I would not do anything.
G6 got Oreo. In one way or another. Mine is on 8.1.
as Dejan Kruljac said, one way or another we will get 8-8.1 or P
Root will help with...

I'll continue my life without buying LG, and i'll advise the same to all i know =D
My G6 will continue to live until it break obviously, and Android update won't force me to spend more money.

Bought this LG flagship phone expecting minimum 2 OS upgrades. If they can't even provide one upgrade then I would never buy the LG products and also doesn't allow anybody to buy whom i can influence. This is for sure. What is more irritating from LG side is there is no schedules or timelines for the updates. Their PR team is the worst i have ever seen in this regard. My Indian variant can't be bootloader unlockable hence no custom ROMs either.. :crying:
Don't really care. Would like it if it was stable and doesn't slow down the device, but not really holding my breath.
Just hope that the hardware holds up and there are no failures like G4
It seems that my g6 is much smoother than it was when i bought it so they achieved it by only updating thier OS apps. Anyway lack of oreo makes this phone looks like some budget device and so the price is. I cannot imagine anger of people who paid regular price expecting flagship features. If I am going to buy new device it will be 2021 so who knows maybe lge phone brach will be non existence by this time? XD

I didn't say LG hasn't/won't got Oreo. I said that "what if"
If they stiff us with Oreo I'll cross LG off my list for future phones.
Probably root and custom rom..
