fps games like modern combat and dead trigger detects a gamepad - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

So this seems to be all games with controller support. I don't have a game pad installed but the games insist I have a game pad installed. Is this a bug or might be a hardware issue ? Can someone test?
I'm on stock 7.1.1

What version of android are you running?

I have oreo beta 3 and I'm having the same issues with games like modern combat and dungeon hunter's

okay cool, i'll submit a bug. I've had this issue as long as i've had the phone since december :/

Same here happens on nougat and oreo. Its probably because of the aspect ration.

I have the same thing. A month ago I submitted a bug to Gameloft about this and indicated that I am not alone. I also pointed out that their Modern Combat 4 is working properly. I got regular response with some troubleshooting, such as FAQs. So I tested on Android 7.1.1 and Oreo Beta 2 and 3, same issue. Game shows controller input and wants user to press R2 to shoot and not giving on-screen controls.

This is good information. Just on the off-chance that someone is not aware of it, the Sony Beta has asked that you post this game info in their thread. It's really one of the major things they want feedback on. So, if you haven't done so, please make sure you post it there as well.
( And, no, I'm not affiliated with any dev group or anything. I just want to make sure Sony has all the input they can get, so we can get the best version of ICS for the Play that WE can get! )

Ics beta compatibility

If users would like to list what games have worked well with the ICS BETA I will update this post so it's easier for people to see what games work well.
Games that work well:
Angry birds
Angry birds seasons
Angry birds space
GTA 3
Virtua Tennis
Temple Run
Zynga Poker
Guerilla Bob
Dead Space
Draw Something
Backstab
Gangster 3
Worms
PES 12
Modern Combat 3
Drag racer
Minecraft
Spiderman
Games that don't work so well:
Asphalt 6: Crashes after Gameloft intro video
Eternal Legacy: Main menu is black with funky looking blue lines across it
N.O.V.A.2: Crashes after first video
Cordy: Played first level, crashes when ends (may be something I did wrong)
Galaxy On Fire 2: Works, but cannot fire with X button, only by touching bottom right of screen (??)
Order & Chaos HD: Gets to login window, but graphics are distorted.

You have to start all over again as it's a clean install, just install and download all your apps and games again.

thanks, but well i am not able to open the android market ,so how should i download the games? and even the browser doesnt work says 'unfortunately the browser has stopped'......
Please be aware that Sony is specifically asking for feedback on this and has a format that they request you put your games reports in (see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571463). I think that making the list here (and not in the Dev thread) is great but it would help Sony too if you also make sure that the reports conform to their format.
I'm posting this because if it's just a list of games that work well, I'd be worried that people will run to the games that work and in the process stop testing the other games...which doesn't help Sony diagnose game issues before a real release.
I use a backed up asphalt 6 apk and the same game files and Asphalt works but it's ugly, there are red lines where there should be drift marks and there are lots of other red lines everywhere but the game is playable.

[Q] Modern combat (3) for the HD2

I am searching around for about 2 days for Modern Combat 3 for the HD2. I like this game very much. Every time I'm downloading an apk and every time I start it up a message pops saying that it isn't compatible with my device. I tried once the Asus TF101 mod I could download the additional data but when I start it up it just closes. I'm using this Android version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256423 Modern Combat 2 is olso ok.

TBH it doesn't really matter. If you downloaded Modern Combat and ran it successfully, it almost certainly would be laggy and unplayable. The HD2's screen only supports two fingers and does that very badly too, plus the GPU is sh*t so I doubt you'd be very pleased with it anyway.

With latest and first ICS rom with HARDWARE ACCELERATION (released today) Modern Combat 3 is really playable on HD2 when it comes to performance. Im really impressive with this becouse it was unplayable on Gingerbread roms.
Multitouch Issue is still present but that is limitation of HD2.

Playing Mario Party 3?

So I got a Nexus 7, and it's pretty cool.
I downgraded to 4.1.2 so I could use the Wii classic controller.
ANYWAYS. I downloaded the three top N64 emulator from the google store, N64oid, Mupen+ and something else...
Anyways, trying to play Mario Party 1, 2, or 3 and it runs at full speed. The game runs okay during the setup, but once you get into play, the sprites disappear and the spots on the board are all moved around and off the path of the actual map.
It's not a frame rate issue, it's graphical glitches.
I'm just wondering if there is any way of fixing it? Is there a setting I can change, or a different type of rom or emulator I need?
Any help would be great.
If you're wondering, yes, I do own a physical copy of Mario Party 1, 2, and 3. Going on a trip soon and would love to play it along the way.
Thanks guys!

Is that a setting on the emulator itself? And to which emulator may you be referring? Thank you.
I tried playing mario party 2 and everything was just flickering, using N64oid.
Bump? Anybody else having this issue and or resolved it? It's a pretty popular n64 game, I'm actually kinda surprised it hasn't been discussed.
BlackFire did as much as he could to help, but we couldn't solve it.

Okay, I see Enable Open GL traces currently set to none, but with options for
Logcat
Systrace (Graphics)
Call stack on glGetError
Which would I choose?
Thanks!
The n64 emulators are not polished yet on any platform including PC and wii and of course Android I doubt you will play a game without some kind of graphical tears or glitches especially games that originally needed the expansion pack and whatever settings you try you will have some glitches

I've been told by people around here they've had it running perfectly on their Nexus. Just haven't been able to communicate with them enough to figure out how they do it.
Could somebody please be kind enough to explain to me exactly how to enable opengl hardware acceleration? Thanks!

[Q] 4.4 doesn't run Nvidia Tegra 3 games?

It seems that almost every Tegra game (THD), including Horn, Puddle, and more, will not run on the KitKat 4.4 update. In fact, I am reading in many reviews that it broke on 4.3 as well. It seems that 4.2 ran the games properly....
Anyone else notice this issue?
