Hi, I have an OP5 on stock Open Beta 5, I'm currently rooted.
Apps that usually have real time notifications or functions don't seem to work until I manually start them after bootup, or even don't work at all.
For example, my mail app now doesn't give me notifications, rather I would have to open up the app manually and refresh the app to see my mail load. Other apps like a notification mirroring app don't work at all until I launch it once on my phone every restart.
I thought it was like Greenify shutting these processes down but I've uninstalled that since. Any ideas?

Did you reboot and wipe cache? What mods did you use additional? Please give more details about your setup.
You can also exclude apps from battery optimization for keeping this apps awake even when doze kicks in so messages came always through and not only in specific time periods.

So as the title says I'm not getting any notifications at all from facebook
But I do get the numbered facebook icon when there's a new comment etc
But nothing in status bar ?
So clearly the notifications are coming through
This is quite annoying and was happening on stock Rom before I rooted and went custom
No matter what I do it just didn't work
Uninstall reinstall
Wipe data clear cache
Format phone reinstall Rom
I even tried the BlackBerry fix using a BlackBerry emulator that didn't work either
Also my wife's works fine so I took the facebook app from her phone installed on mine same problem
Anyone else having similar issue or a possible solution

Have you found a solution for this? I experience the same thing with LG G3
Is the notification box ticked in application manager > all > Facebook?
Did you greenify the app by any chance?

I don't want to sound ratty I appreciate any help with this problem but
Of course notifications are enabled
As I've stated I've installed uninstalled ans checked all settings
The best I've got so far is installing the 20.0.0.7 alpha version of the app which
Then gives me notifications in the notification tray
But no audable notification or vibration
And the notification just launches the app itself and not the post in question
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
For the setting your refering to it's still enabled but I believe the only way for this to get disabled would be if I was to do it manually.

It should be the app's issue. You should report it to the app's author.
Better if it's not working, you'll get more done at work and at home.

I see where your coming from but my wife also has a note 3 running same os and same version of the app with no problems
i have even tried exporting here app to mine and still no joy
There's something somewhere causing this problem just a matter of finding it
This is a stab in the dark
Not facebook, but other apps i have had a similar issue, from what i discovered that App was no longer running in the background.
Other applications where grabbing the App and killing it to stop services running in Background and draining battery.
Have you tried viewing Logcat while forcing a notification (i.e. messaging yourself) to see if you get a error message.
If no error then i would defo suggest a App you have installed in Killing the app from Running.
Cleaner Master, Greenify, any apps like this.
Is it rooted? what about a quick backup Format install and install FB see if you still have same issue
I'm not receiving notifications on any mobile platform at all
android
IOS
Blackberry
I have wiped applications rebooted reinstalled formatted phone factory reset all devices
No matter what i do nothing works
i have removed all apps from recent activity and connected apps in facebook
This is not an application problem but an account problem
If i log in to any of the above devices with another facebook account they all work fine popups notifications sound everything
When i login as myself all i get is a numbered facebook icon no audio notification no notification tray no popup nothing whatsoever
WTF
At this point my only choice would be to crate a new account
But its absolutely doing my head in as to why it just refuses to work on my account
Hi
my P8 automatically kills apps that are running for longer than one hour. For example if I use Google Maps Navigation, or Runkeeper to track my runs.
In settings i have 'Performance' selected in the Power Savings Menu, I added Google Maps, Runkeeper, etc. to the protected apps and i don't have any third party app for battery saving, task killing or something like that. I also locked the app in the app switcher by swiping down on it, so that the lock icon appears.
Nevertheless after running for just over an hour this morning, Runkeeper was killed anyway.
Does anybody have the same problem and knows a solution?
Thanks

Hi, try Settings>serach: optimalization (ignore app optimalisation or something like that) and select what apps you dont want to be killed, maybe it helps

There is no solution. every phone with EMUI works like that. It's intentional to save battery (that's what they say). I heard they fixed it in EMUI 5 (which is closer to stock Android) but P8 is not going to get it. If you really need those apps you have no choice - change your phone.

no true, if you need some app to work in deep sleep, you just have to allow it in manager and disable its optimalization, then it wont be killed
there is an option in settings..called protected apps on or off

It will be killed but after a slightly longer period of time. No app will last more than 3 hours in the memory. That's how EMUI works.

what version of rom are you using? i have Gratitude V5, gmail works during all night, no problem what so ever, messenger works too even if i selected it to be killed and optimized by system, only thing you have to do is to convert it to system app
Stock B382. It's better than on B200 - before it was killing all apps instantly when the screen was off.

That's not true, I have a number of apps that run in the background and don't get killed. Tasker, Light Flow, Doggcatcher, Gmail, K9mail...
I'm on latest Gratitude and was in the Fromfuture ROMs before.
Hi,
I noticed that with the new update to EMUI 5 my Phone Manager is not working properly.
It's not closing the marked apps on 'Close apps after screen lock' setting.
To test this i first mark an app to be closed on screen lock, when i unlock my phone the app is still running.
Also i'm receiving notifications from said app when my screen is locked (ex. facebook).
Even when i run the battery optimiser manually he states that X amount of apps have been closed on background, although they are still running...
I did my update via OTA with a fresh factory reset after it. Then i used Huawei Backup tool to restore the state of my apps. More recently i even reset the Phone Manager app data twice.
Are you experiencing any similar issues?

Cool, thanks for the reply!
Phone Manager was perfect for me on 4.1 not sure why they messed with it.
Protected Apps made more sense than Allow All, even the smart battery setting is gone..
My issue is the phone manager is closing apps that I want to stay open

I always have Power Saving Mode on and I have like 5-6h screen time on, and it s OK for me...
Recently I am having notification delays with my S7 Edge G935F. I have read through some posts on this forum and other sources and can't figure it out.
Here are some of the problems:
1. notifications are often delayed for more than thirty minutes
2. if I want to manually check notification when it does not pop up, unlocking the screen does not make the notification show, I have to actually launch the specific app to see the notification
3. It is more than just not showing the notification, when I am using some instant messaging apps (like WeChat), I can't see new messages coming in while the app is running in the front. I have to press the home button and get back to home screen, then re-enter the app, then the messages show up. This happens to many other apps as well.
4. Other things go wrong as well. For example, my Android Auto was set to launch whenever I get into my car and car bluetooth is connected. It is also delayed, by more than hours. It often launches long after I finish my driving and get back home sitting on my couch.
5. Downloading new apps from Play Store has problems as well. It downloads to 100% and just stops there, it does not start installation. I have to use Settings->App to kill Play Store and re-open it to "refresh" it, then it starts to install.
6. After installation of new app, it does not show up on my screen or app draw inside my launcher. I can see the app installed in Play Store. I have to kill launcher and re-open the launcher to make it "refresh" the app list then I can see new app inside the app draw.
I have also tried a lot of ways to fix it:
1. change app to not battery optimized -> didn't fix it
2. update firmware -> didn't fix it
3. factory reset -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
4. flash to a different firmware (official ROM in different regions) -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
5. use third-party ROM (Lineage OS) -> completely fix the problem, but too buggy to use
I can see the general idea of what's going wrong, some events happened (connected to car Bluetooth, new messages coming, app finished downloading, new app installed, etc.) and the system is not responding correctly. I am not very familiar with Android development but I feel like something is wrong with the "event handling" or "event raising" inside Samsung's Android system.
Please post reply if you have any idea or are facing the similar problems.
EDIT:
The phone is on Android 7.0, Build Number NRD90M.G935FXXU1DQER
You've stated that flashing the custom ROM solved the problem, so maybe you should try flashing a different rom that's a bit more stable.
From personal experience i can recommend the SuperStock rom. It's stock (obviously) and it's debloated and very stable with pretty good battery life as far as i remember.
there is some info about it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/want-to-root-custom-one-stay-stock-t3631098?styleid=18 (ignore the root part).
Hi,
did you find any solution to this problem ? cause i got the same problem, and i'm going crazy... few months already and can't figure out what is the problem...
the temporary fix i've found is disabling the "google app" in application manager... it fix the problem but i can't use any Google app features (and i like using them...).
I've found few ppl experiencing the same problem searching on internet but no one with a real fix...
if someone more experienced can help debut this it would really mean a lot...
I think it is the battery optimization setting. You may check the settings>battery>advanced settings>optimize apps. You need to keep the apps un-optimized if you want the notifications and sync.
Also, you may check if Sync is on or off.
If these two does not solve, factory reset if you are on stock ROM. If on a custom ROM, you may check a different ROM
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Actually none of this works... The only thing that "fixes" the issue is disabling the Google app in the application manager... That's why its so weird...
The problem started around July/August 2017 for me...
As i discovered that disabling Google was fixing the problem, i assumed that they'll correct it by updating the app... But only one update of the app was ok, all others would make the problems reappear...
Messing with battery optimization settings doesn't change anything for me... Factory reset as well... The problem comes back as soon as the google app gets updated...
Try clearing cache and deleting data from the Google app the time the problem occurs
already tried... doesn't help at all...
So it looks like there are many people having issues with the battery optimization feature, which lets me guess oneplus is already aware of the problem. My question is if there is a way to disable the optimization completely for now until oneplus has sorted things out.
Since the last update it is so aggressive, it kills youtube's connection to my chromecast every few minutes, rendering all control features unuseable as I always have to reconnect before I can do anything. This also makes my wearOS watch unuseable as it also depends on the phone keeping the connections alive.
You can turn off Optimization for YouTube and WearOS
Settings > Apps & Notifications > Special app access
You can turn off optimization for any app, and see the advanced in the 3 dot menu. I had the same problem with my watch, turned off the watch app and helper, now works great. I also turned off messenger, no problems now.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I also would like to know if this is possible in an easy way. I don't want to disable it for 256 apps independently.

That setting was the first thing I checked and already disabled optimization for the wearOS and cast apps which work fine now. Unfortunately it won't let me disable it for the youtube app as it handles that one as a system app. As long as youtube is not allowed in the background wearOS has nothing to communicate with so I still can't control it.
That's why my next thought was if I can't disable it for system apps maybe there is a way to completely disable it until oneplus has the problem solved. I know that solution would suck but at the moment I am forced to use another phone to use youtube properly which sucks even more imo.

I wonder if the system mover app works on Pie and YouTube? I didn't realize YouTube was a system app since it's from the play store.

I would love to try this but I am unrooted. Youtube should be on the list but it is not, I am guessing that is because it comes preinstalled, the playstore app isn't there as well for example.
I know this is an old thread, but the more I use my new phone, the more I believe this to be the issue with my Gmail app constantly putting my Exchange accounts back to 30 minute fetch. And, I cannot disable battery optimization on Gmail because it's a system app (and I do not want to root). For now, every other day, I have to tell the device that it really is OK for Gmail to remain constantly connected to my Exchange account, that I actually prefer it to be. I've made it to 54 hours with my normal use (OVER 7 HRS S.O.T), not trying to stretch it at all, no battery saving features on whatsoever. So it's safe to say I can afford for Gmail to stay connected with Exchange. The optimization is a bit too aggressive for not allowing system apps to be excluded.
I've also had issues with Google Assistant not reminding me about reminders that are clearly in the list of her reminders, and I think this to be the culprit as well, and again, can't disable it because it's not on the list.

Having exactly same problems with gmail and chrome (html5 push notifications). I am rooted. So I am considering to mark those apps as non system apps, but still not sure if this won't brake future updates or something.
