Some help needed with my beloved Defy+ - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
As a newcomer to the forums, I'd like to ask for some help. I tried some of the methods described in several posts, to no avail. The situation is this:
Yesterday, I forgot my Defy+ on my desk and the alarm went of at 21:00 as programmed. It went for about 30 mins after that it was cancelled by default. I switched the wifi on and the phone restarted. In fact it stuck in a restart loop, mostly with the Motorola logo on screen. I took the battery out, kept it for like 30 mins, popped it back in and it went to the recovery console with the exclamation mark and the little droid icon. It stayed there for 30 sec, after that it went dark. Now this happened before so I did not panic and tried the battery swap again.
However, this time the phone is silent. Dead. If I plug it into a PC it gives me the notification sound (like when you pull out a usb drive from your PC) and the battery still gives out 3.7V.
No reaction for pressing the power button or volume up/down or any combination of that.
My question is: Is there a way to revive my beloved phone or is it just a piece of history now?
Additional info: Yes, it was a stock Defy+ with Android 2.3.4.
Any help is appreciated!

Update
Update: When I plug it into a PC with the Volume- button pressed down, a white LED starts to light until I disconnect it. During this if I try to enter bootloader mode, the PC recognises it as an unknown device and immediately prompts me to reconnect it.
Any ideas?

Bell Vogue keeps rebooting

Hi everyone,
I have had some trouble with my Vogue. At first it simply would not turn on. I would get a red light when I plugged the phone in to charge it. I have been using my old phone for several months now. Today I went out to the nearest Bell store and it seems like anything new is going to cost in the $500 area because I still have 1 year left on my contract. So I have renewed my interest in getting my Vogue working again
The original thread describing my original problem (with the red light) is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546674
I purchased a new battery and now when I plug it in on the USB I can turn it on (no lights, red, green, or otherwise) but it does turn on. It boots up just passed the blue “Bell” splash screen and then reboots. It does this over and over again.
I am able to get into the boot loader screen by holding down the power and camera buttons and pressing the reset button.
Any ideas on what I can do? Any suggestions are welcome.
Regards,
The Fish
Reflash your rom when you get to the bootloader screen.
If you are unlocked flash nfsfan or whatever, just rename the nbh file to 'VOGUIMG.nbh' and it will flash.
If you were on stock you'll need the nbh from the stock package.
OK, here is an update
I have tried a hard-reset (press Send and End buttons at the same time and press reset button). This worked but the phone still kept rebooting. Tried the original battery, phone booted a little further up before rebooting.
I got the phone into boot loader mode and left it plugged in on the USB cable for a few minutes. This time when I rebooted I became ecstatic. I got all the way to the “align your screen” stage before hearing the “phone is dying” sound and the phone turned off. So here is what I think may have happened:
I have long lost the home charger kit. So I have, for as long as I can remember, been charging it by plugging it into a PC via the USB. This is fine except that Windows will only power the USB for the device if there is a driver installed. The device/phone looks different to Windows when it is in boot loader mode then when it is fully booted up. If the device is so dead as to not even have a flicker of life I don't think Windows sees it.
I have been doing this tonight under Linux. Linux seems to either have the driver, a more generic driver or powers the USB all the time for any device. I noticed this same behavior when charging my Moto Razr the same way. Under Linux it just worked by plugging it in. Under Widows I had to install the driver. So maybe here is what happened.
The battery got SO dead that it was not able to boot the phone up far enough for Windows on the PC to see it, recognize it and begin powering the USB port. Perhaps leaving the phone in bootloader mode and plugged into a Linux box got the battery a little more charged till I got to the point of being able to align the screen.
Anyway, I am more then ever convinced that this is some kind of battery/power issue. The phone is now lying here powered up and charging (already at 20%). The carrier customizations ran, rebooted while I crossed my fingers, and came back up. I even called *BELL and got a message about activating my phone. Tomorrow if the phone is charged up and behaving normally I will get an ESN change done and be back in the world of decent smartphones. Man have I ever missed my Google Maps
The next step is to flash a more up-to-date ROM... if I dare mess with a good thing.

While phone is off do the following:
1. Press volume down button and power off button both together till you see Android Robot with (!) Exclamation mark;
2. Now release both keys and press volume keys (both up and down volume keys together);
3. This will show you Stock Recovery;
4. Now from volume down key select "wipe Data" and execute it with power key;
5. Now select Reboot.
This will probably resolve the issue. However, if the issue still persists then you need to use RSD lite to flash your phone with the some Froyo SBF.
For more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
[Note: To enter bootloader menu so that RSD lite recognize your phone you need to have its USB drivers installed on your system and while booting you need to press Volume Up key and Power key together while phone is off to enter Bootloader menu to flash with SBF.]
Hope this helps!!

Try this:

Why?
Cause a damaged OS, cannot charge your battery. you must pull your battery out of defy and charge the battery externally.
Or you buy a new battery, or let charge your old battery by a cellphone-seller, or asks a friend of yours with a defy to charge your battery for you etc.
Have u checked the voltage of your battery, it must be 4,1 V if the battery is fully charged.
I think esok44 is right your battery is empty, there is not enough power in it to start your defy.
i just tried the usb modification to connect it to the battery directly,,done all the steps as told ... nothing!!!
i'm really getting frustrated cuz its been like this for the past one week,,i've tried everything
don't have any friends with defy phone...
can't think of anything else to do but to brake the phone
well if everything fails, give it to motorola...
if it really is broken and everything fails, then try it.
would be the last option for me, but at least it is one...
But as is said, had the same problem and in may case it worked...
i've read on xda about an usb-manipulation to flash sbf when battery is empty, maybe you could try this...
I'll add a link to it

i have encountered this problem previously and the solution was replacing the battery, as RATTAR said the battery is not charged. try to charge your battery or try another charger, once it's charged rsd will recognize it. don't panic or despair.

[Q] Mt4G won't boot AT ALL

I went out for a while with my battery at 20%, when I came back it had drained out. I put it to charge, but when I tried to switch it back on, it refused to boot. On a normal power button press, it would vibrate 3 times and then the red notification light would start blinking. Same thing with power + volume_up. If I press power + volume_down, it would vibrate 5 times and the green notification light would stay lit. Nothing comes on the screen, whatsoever.
I was rooted with S=off, and was using the Operation Inferno ROM (which I have been using comfortably for the past month or so).
I did try some stuff with ADB, such as using it to reboot into bootloader and recovery (same 3 vibrate + red notification light), pushed the Operation Inferno ROM again to the sdcard and tried to restore the ROM from that location (for which I got adb: unable to open file /sdcard/backup.zip).
I haven't yet gotten around to downloading and installing the factory image some have suggested for the eMMC issue (PD15IMG.ZIP) but I wanted additional opinions considering most people with an eMMC issue have been able to open HBOOT at least.
When the phone doesn't power on, neither ADB nor fastboot will help you. There is no device on the other side, so all your attempts went to the drain, and it was expected. Nothing to do with eMMC issue or anything else. Your phone just doesn't power on.
Put your phone to charge, if the light turns orange - just leave it to charge until it's green, then disconnect and try to power on.
If the light doesn't turn orange, or it doesn't power on even after charging - remove the battery for 10 min, press Power button for 1/2 min, release the button, reinsert the battery, put to charge. And again, let it charge before you try to turn it on.
I did charge it earlier (for about half an hour or so) and the orange light does come, but it didn't boot after that either.
I'll just give it a try by charging it through the night and see.
I think a key thing is to take out your battery for 10 min, as Jack_R1 suggested. Then proceed with the charging.
Sent from my HTC Glacier
Still doesn't work. I dissembled it and kept it like that for quite some time, then put everything back and charged it for hours. Still the same issue happening during boot.
Connect the phone to USB, powered off, see if the PC recognizes "QHSUSB_DLOAD" device. Try to power it on, see if it happens.
If it happens - it means your primary bootloader is screwed, in another words - no repair (actually, repair is theoretically possible, but no guide, no information and no sources exist for MT4G).

When its plugged in, its recognised by the ADB (even when powered off), and I can do some basic commands (mentioned in the first post). When I power it on the same thing happens as when it wasn't plugged into USB (ie, the vibration and the blinking LED).
I'm also worried about water damage, since a very tiny amount did come on it as I was sweating profusely. Although the indicators in the battery tray and on the battery itself don't signal damage (they're completely white) I've just decided to try and keep it opened up in a bowl of rice, just in case, until someone is able to come out with some idea.
As I'm in India, taking it to T-Mobile is not an option. If nothing works out, I might take it to HTC and see if they can help out.

Nexus 7 2012 problems

Hi all,
I'm struggling with getting my 2012 Nexus 7 to start and hope someone out there can help!
I think I may have let the battery become discharged, but anyway here are the symptoms:
Connected the power lead and the tablet initially showed the empty battery icon but then started to flash up the word Google but does not boot up. Left it connected for a couple of hours. Still no joy.
Did a bit of internet research in an attempt to reset the tablet via the button combinations.
With the power lead disconnected, holding on/off plus volume+ together eventually gives a blank screen and from there holding on/off plus vol- gives the Android figure with its belly open. Hitting vol+ scrolls thru the four options of start / power off / recovery mode / restart bootloader, however when I select 'recovery mode' and press the on/off button instead of showing the Android with a red triangle it simply goes back to flashing 'Google'.
From there, if I press and hold on/off and vol- for several seconds the screen gives a momentary blue flash and then the fours 'dancing blobs' appear, eventually to be replaced with the flashing 'Google' but still no boot up.
If I connect the power lead although I can get the initial Android figure, I cannot scoll for any of the options.
All of this sounds like a major fault, but funnily enough yesterday evening I left the tablet with a blank screen and disconnected only to find this morning that it had booted and had all my apps showing, all of which appeared to be working properly. so I connected the charge lead and it said I had 17% battery remaining however the battery charge graph showed a number of major gaps and also showed the wrong date (2 days behind). So I connected the power lead and left it for 10 mins to find that the charge state hadn't moved but also that the screen brightness was reduced as if it wasn't connected. So I unplugged and then re-plugged the power lead and it said it was optimising 1 of 2 apps then the screen brightness returned to full, any appearing to function ok.
So left if for around 30 mins at which point the charge had gone up to 21% and I decided to try switching it off. Bad move!! Instead of booting up it simply returned to the flashing 'Google'. Which is about where the story started.
I've had the back off and the battery connector hasn't shifted, but one thing I did notice is that there is a fourth key switch below the vol- switch but without a hole in the cover to actuate it when assembled. Is this part of the button-press combination to restore factory seetings with the back off ??
If anyone out there can make sense of what the tablet is doing, I'd love to hear from you!!

Hard Bricked Samsung galaxy s7 edge

Hi! I managed to hard brick my galaxy s7 edge and i wanna see if someone here knows if its hard bricked or soft.
Got root and had renovate rom 2.0 ( n7 port) then i wiped my phone and flashed renovate 3.3 (s7 edge stock)
my phone worked fine on startup and i started to restore my old apps through gmail. i thought it would take a while so put my phone in my pocked and let it be fore about 20 minutes then when i took it up it was complete dead. i had about 67% before it died i tried everything (vol up down home all together) for at least 15+ sec. had it charge over the night ( i noticed that the phone didnt get warm or any leds shown) in the morning i tried everything again and nothing. when i connect my phone to my computer i hear the connect sound and then it disconnect a sec later. if i hold power button down and connect it ( and dont release power) my computer recognize it as onyx8890 and if i release powerbutton it disconnects. cant boot it in any way whatsoever. so what do you think? its only a week old thats the worst part of it!
I have left it to the store I bought it from for warrantable but its still rooted and have a rom on it. well if its complete dead they cant see if its rooted so thats one good thing.
still want to hear you opinion
sorry for bad english
so, from what I understand, u cant boot into any mode, are u even able to see something on screen? (logo, boot screen, etc.) U can try JIG (it somehow make any samsung device go to download mode). otherwise idk.
Hi guys, I have the same problem with my S7 Edge.
Can anyone help?
OK. So I managed to recover my phone.
The phone was dead because of a software crash(nothing on display, no LED light, power+vol. down for reset not working) and when connected to my PC - nothing (just a connect and after 1 sec. a disconnect sound).
But if I kept the power button pressed without letting go, my PC would detect the phone as exynos8890.
I tried to keep pressing the power+vol. down while connected to PC and I realized that the combo worked because after ~7 seconds the phone would disconnect and reconnect itself (but still as exynos8890).
But I tried a different approach. While connected to the PC I tried to keep on pressing power+vol. down. And I could hear that it disconnected and reconnected. But I did not let go of the buttons. And again a connect and disconnect. And again. And after literally 5 minutes of the buttons kept pressed down without letting go and countless reconnects there was finally a change. The disconnect sound was not heard after the connect sound. At that point I stopeed pressing the buttons and when I looked at the phone I could see that the battery icon appeared. Since the phone was connected to my PC, after 1 min. the battery started charging (it was charged 31%). And after that my phone booted fine.
wow
Hi I have just bought an s7 which turned out to be a Korean G930L but I cant get any response out if it apart from the 2 bottom leds and and the blue one. No response from trying to get into recovery or download mode, basically a black screen though it does vibrate on what i think is start up. It is found by pc and Odin and charges ok, I can tell as I can see properties on pc. But no other response. Is it possible that the previous owner tried to root it using non korean rom or TWRP? Any advice on how to fix either getting TWRP on or screen to light up. I am sorry for being so vague I have pulled it apart and checked all of the connections, screen, motherboard etc but nothing. Or chuck it out or put back on eBay. I tried your idea but it only booted once in that 5 minute period so I tried without it plugged in and rebooted several times but still no screen response.
