I just picked up the standard Unlocked HTC 10 and I'm looking to use it as my Verizon daily driver. I'm also looking to use it overseas while I'm in Germany for a month (using whatever plan I find when I get there... recommendations would be appreciated, but I digress).
Are there any pros/cons to flashing the Verizon radios vs converting to the full Verizon version for when I make it overseas?

From my experience it's a waste of time "converting" it to a Verizon phone...flash one of the ROMs that support multiple carriers.. for example leedroid ROM or viper. Keep the zip on your SD In case you gotta flash it in Germany to choose another carrier(international) support option.

SInce the MID is already the same why not just S-off and supercid the device.. .allowing you to fully go either direction by simply flashing an RUU file from your ext SD ?

SuperCID wouldn't let me flash the ROMs...
Well, the ROMs flashed but wouldn't boot up. Just hangs up on green htc logo. Soon as I changed CID back to unlocked, everything worked fine again. Idk maybe it's just me
I'm hoping for something that allows a simple sim card swap as (truth be told) it's going to be used by my mother.
Idk if you can do that. I believe you still have to change some thing in the "mobile data" settings going from Verizon to using it in Germany. Not sure though. Maybe some of these ROMs will have all the goodness already baked in...
Hi I'm thinking about switching from Verizon (I currently have a rooted LG G4) to T mobile. What ever new Tmobile compatible phone I get I'd really like it to be rootable. I'm thinking about getting the V20 for T mobile. After digging through several hundred page rooting thread I'd like to clarify a few things before I buy one.
The H918 IS indeed rootable
Does the FM radio still not work when rooted?
Any other know issues when rooting this phone?
Thanks!

Yeah it's rootable, about the FM idk since I don't use and no there's no issue whatsoever rooting this phone (H918). Throw in Weta or MEGAROM with magisk and you'll be good to go ?

Last I heard firmware 10k and newer are not rootable. Supposedly it is fairly easy to downgrade back to 10j or 10i though so just keep that in mind. I had no problems rooting mine on 10j.
As far as I know the FM radio will still work however I do believe it is a system app and some ROMS are debloated which may mean the radio will not work
No other issues that I've ran across unique to rooting other than prepare for tug of war if you plan on using magisk. I don't use any safety net apps so I'm running SuperSU instead and it works flawlessly so far.
Also keep in mind development for stock firmware ROMS have kind of dropped off for the T-Mobile variant. WETA and 2 others (that I can't think of right now) are the only stock ROMS that are still active as far as I know. MEGArom got a different phone but I'm running his V4 rom and it's quick. I've heard of people getting AOSP ROMs to work on V20 however you lose access to 2nd screen as of right now.
I just saw a post about a new prime phone from Amazon, and I was curious if there has been any luck rooting these AMZN based devices?
I really like the G6, but having access to the US unlocked GSM device AND the quad DAC would be perfect for me.
But I gotta have root. So any threads on other devices, or any insider information on whether these Amazon devices have unlocked bootloader's?
https://www.engadget.com/2017/10/26/amazon-lg-g6-prime-discount/
I'm waiting for the unlocked US998, but I would be okay with a quad DAC G6, too. As I don't mind waiting 6 mo the for the V30's to drop in price.
I am also wondering the same thing. Has the LG G6+ been rooted?
You are never going to see an official bootloader unlock for the Amazon devices, because their marketing model is "discount phone with ads." Bootloader unlock would allow you to circumvent the ads by rooting and/or flashing a different ROM, so Amazon would not offer the phone this way without an agreement from LG not to unlock these phones. Other devices Amazon sells this way are pretty tightly locked down, and their communities have not had a lot of success breaking into them.
Bottom line is, it's not coming any time soon, if at all, so don't buy the device assuming that you'll someday be able to root it.
Anybody tried flashing a different stock ROM to the phone using Uppercut yet? I'm wondering if you could just flash the international firmware to the phone if the phone would accept it since it's recognized in LG UP with no issues and shows up as the international version too. Since it's a signed firmware I've gotta believe that if you can't ever unlock the bootloader that you could at least flash a stock LG international firmware file to it.

Not gonna happen unfortunately...not unless someone gains root access to the device and then uses something like FlashFire to hot-flash a custom ROM onto the device. That would be our best hope. That being said I'm still using my LG G6 since Amazon removed ads from all Prime devices free of charge (except for Kindles and such) and my phone is better than ever now. I plan on getting at least a year of use out of it and then upgrade to something with a Snapdragon 845 CPU inside it.
Alright guys...im trying to root my H870 AT&T G6 thinq and Idk what I'm doing wrong. I downloaded the files I need and tried getting it into fastboot mode and it just reboots and turns on. I tried adb reboot recovery and of course with no recovery yet it goes to no command. Does anyone have a better way then using adb? I attempted to use kingoroot but I don't read Chinese so I have no idea what it was saying lol
As has been said elsewhere, the European H870 and US 997 are the only ones that are rootable.
There is not and will not be a root for any of the other variants. There is some chat about it on the forums but realistically there will not be any other rooting method other than the official LG route.
Is there a root and rom also applicable for the 918DS ?
I'm planning to buy it, but have not found yet a root option explicitly for the 918DS
DOes someone have experiences with a good ROM for this?
Thanks for advice

No such thing as a 918ds, there's a h990ds, and there's an h918. H990ds is an international dual SIM variant, while the H918 is a US T-Mobile (single sim) variant. They're both rootable and both have dedicated threads.
ive been looking for a way to unlock the bootloader on this model US215 K8 for a while now. ive found that the LG Developer site has shut down meaning there is no offical way to do this. Anyone know of an unoffical way to do this?
