I am trying to root my phone. I did my research and read up on how to do it properly. I tried two root checkers and both say that my phone is not rooted.

To root my phone I:
1. Unlock my bootloader
2. Backup your data and files, all will be lost
3. Installed/Flashed TWRP(I used the Moto G5 Plust toolkit to help install twrp)
4. I transferred the necessary files to my phones(Magisk-v15.3 and no-verity-opt-encrypt v5.1)
5. Pluged phone to PC
6. Flashed "no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip
7. Went back to TWRP main menu, went to REBOOT, and then SYSTEM
8. After that, turned off the phone
9. Went back to boot loader screen and open TWRP
10. "Swipe to Allow Modifications"
16. Flashed "Magisk-v15.3.zip"
17. After the setup went back to TWRP main menu, to REBOOT, then SYSTEM
18. After the phone rebooted I went to Magisk App
19. Opened Magisk app/Magisk manager
20.Clicked install
21. Rebooted phone
I am not sure what I did wrong. I think it worked but the root checker says otherwise. Can someone advise me as to what I must do to fix this problem.

Hello everyone,
I was following this page to root the nexus 6P (ROM build number: MMB29M)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
step 1. “1. How To Unlock Your Bootloader”
done without issue
Issue in step2: “2. How To Install A Custom Recovery On Your Device”
After I installed twrp-3.0.2-0-angler.img, then I press “Power+Volume Down” to get into fastboot, then choose “Recovery” in fastboot, I can’t get into TWRP GUI to install .zip file, I only see the error msg icon (please see pic attached). Then I press “power_Volume UP” to TWRP Command interface but there is no “install” menu (please see pic attached).
Please help, how to get "install" menu in TWRP?
Many thanks

Sorry for large pictures, I should resize them.
What you're looking at there is the stock recovery, which means that the installation of TWRP has called for some reason. Have you tried flashing it again?

Yes, you are right. I re-flash the TWRP and it works.
Thanks man!
Hello,
I recently updated to OB3 update on Oneplus 5.
Phone stuck on bootanimation for 30 minutes. I restarted it, same result !
Went into stock recovery only to see all data gone , some random folders are showing (check attachments).
Immediately flashed TWRP.
I have not tried anything as of yet so as to preserve data.
I have access to ADB , recovery(blu_spark's TWRP) and fastboot.
Please tell me how to proceed and save the data.

i lost root?
You shouldn’t if you follow steps stated in following tutorial:
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/blob/master/docs/tips.md
1) Restore boot image from Magisk Manager
2) Download and apply update (Without rebooting).
3) Install Magisk to Second Slot After OTA (From Magisk Manager)
4) Reboot
I would also disable all Magisk modules, just in case.
Thanks try this now and say if all OK, and if I use this metod root not gone?

for me this method has never worked. I tried it every single time since the January Patch. After the update you loose root and have to do the "normal" method anyways again.
So i wait 8.1 and again root or maybe was another metod to get update and dont loose root
Hi,
I flashed my S10+ with Magisk a while ago and today I went into the Magisk manager and it showed that theres an update available, so I went ahead and updated it through direct install method (recommended).
Now my phone restarted and is stuck in download mode and shows this:-

Just to update anyone else having this issue, I flashed my phone with TWRP using ODIN and that seems to have fixed it!
I didn't have to reflash my firmware or lose my data using this
Hi, a while back, i tried following a loose guide on this forum, trying to root my Tab A T150. I cant really remember what steps i took or what my actions were but, I remember getting TWRP to run, but being unable to read the file system and also being unable to flash anything using TWRP. I then proceeded to reboot my device, only to get greeted with this screen

repeated by a shutdown loop with this screen, no matter what button combination i tried, i could not get it to display anything else. I am just looking to get back into android OS. I don't have any firmware backups but it should have been the latest firmware version.
Plug the cable into the PC but not the tablet. Turn the tablet off. While pressing both vol up and down, plug the cable into the tablet and wait for the green screen. Follow the instructions to relock the bootloader. That should reset the tablet, delete TWRP and put you back into the stock ROM.
What you probably skipped the first time around was formatting the data partition. Not wipe but format. That removes the encryption from the data partition and allows you to flash a custom ROM. You need to do that the first time it boots to TWRP.
