Same here, but I just noticed my news hasn't updated since 28/12. I'm going to try clearing app data and signing back in. FWIW, I noticed your articles are dated 19/1.
Update: After clearing app data and signing back in there are no news articles available.
Update 2: This is a xda server issue. There's a fix being worked on for the beta app, but unsure about the older app in the op. In any case it's not related to OOS.

I did not use xda app for reading news instead I'm using another app to collect rss news from several sites including xda.

It's due to a problem of the backend as mentioned in xda app thread, please scroll back. The news tab is even working(for me),but not updating. Please wait until the problems being resolved.

Are you opening the specific forum from your favorites?
I noticed on mine, when I added a forum to my favorites, opened the forum from there....and tried to open a thread...FC.
But, if I open it from the root of the forums....without using favorites...it works.

force close on me too. anytime i try to read a thread
works fine for me reading threads as long as im not logged in.
same happens on mine wichever way I access the postings, wonder if it'll be fixed and when...
Same here. I can access everything fine until I login. Then every thread I open produces a force close.
does this work properly for anyone on an a500? who are able to view threads as a guest and whilst logged on, and reply and comment threads without a FC?
I can't view threads even if I'm logged in or not!

its not compatible fully for honeycomb i think
Me Too
Mine works as long as I don't try to run a search. Search = Force close
The premium Ver doesn't fc even when logged in, I think the non premium one is not compatble with honeycomb, and its large display.

Yeah well it's not fully compatible with Froyo either. Unfortunately the XDA app is a piece of crap and nobody seems inclined to fix it. You'll find copies of this thread in practically every tablet device forum on these boards. I had the same experience with my Viewsonic GTab running Froyo. These XDA crashes go back at least as far as last October.
Some people say if you buy the full app that it doesn't crash, but why would I spend money to buy something on faith when their "trial" app is crap?
</rant>
So, if you want a specific forum app, go buy Tapatalk and forget about it.
Even xda premium doesn't work!!

I don't think they support the app anymore. Use TapaTalk.
Just noticed,
The new updated Facebook app (V 1.6) is no longer compatible with the Xoom. I.e. if you don't have FB or if you've uninstallrd it, ouch!
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I think they are trying to push tablets back to the unified touch website interface. The only thing that sucks with that is you can 'send to facebook' and sync contacts.
Know of any other apps that handle just that?
Friend me is a great tablet optimized facebook client. But it is still in the earlier stages of development.

Rumor has it that Facebook will release an app for tablets.
again?
they broke FB for tablets before- you'd think they'd learned not to break stuff now...
Friendme is far superior
Friend me has no functional use without ability to go to each friends stuff or find things the way you do on the web. It needs way more work.

Install it on any other device then move it via astro backup or something. I did that and it works fine.
I use Friendcaster... not the tab optimized version though because it lacks a lot of functionality. Does look pretty however.
I just installed the 1.6 update on the Xoom and it force closes when you try to search. It's defiantly not made for the Xoom. Here is the APK if anybody wants to try it.

I'm on 1.5.4 and its always fcd on me searching for people. Has never worked right. You would think they would have given HC users a fully functional version by now.

I suspect this has to do with the fact that good Android devs are hard to find; good Android devs with Honeycomb experience are nearly impossible to find.
Would anyone mind posting the last facebook version that "works"?

expecting for a good release
Just heard about a major FB release lined up for Wednesday, 'Supposedly' a counter to Google+ and designed for the Tablet. I hope the rumor's right!

That would be great!
I hope that rumor is true. Keep us updated if you hear any more details.
The Facebook app for the XOOM has always been crap. When Google+ goes live, I am deleting my Facebook account even if it sucks. I'm tired of it.

That version looks like it is the one which causes data drops when accessing the Market.
The very latest will be pushed to you when you are reached in the queue. I just had it pushed to me yesterday, and the version which was pushed to me has no data issues. I had previously emailed Google about the data loss, and they had told me they were aware of it on the Atrix, and were working on a fix.
Thx....does this one have data issues

I have not had any data issues since I had the new Market pushed to me, so I am thinking this version is different to the leaked version which DMoney9779 has linked. I had nothing but issues with the data dropping on that, and although tried the leaked .apk several times, I kept reverting back to the old market until I saw a fix.
I had issues with the leaked version. Reverted back to the old Market. I just installed Alien Rom last night and the new market was included. This time it is working great with not data issues to report. Version 3.0.27
Any thoughts on encryption? Any input from people that have done it?

Doesn't seem like OTA updates work with encryption, I planned to encrypt mine like the rest of my stuff but not if I can't get updates.

Was your GNex rooted and encrypted?
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Personally, I think that unless you actually have something important and confidential to protect, it really doesn't warrant the use of encryption. It makes things a pain in the arse e.g. updates, some recoveries don't work with encryption etc.
