UMTS/3G in TELCEL MEXICO

hi my mates i had to view the experience in mexico with the telcels new 3g service for that you put plz your device name your radio version and if its in plan or in amigo prepaid service also and finaly your experience

Hey guy, have you got it working? i live in monterrey mexico.. and i cant see any signal of 3G... and i have a TyTN II!! wtf!! its supossed to get all networks!!.. well.. im in prepaid telcel

a week my hermes has been changing form edge to 3g but come back to edge so im in the question for it im fom mexico city

Hello. I'm from Monterrey too, with a TyTN II as well... you might have heard of me, Roberto Medellín.
Anyway, I want to test 3G, I have prepaid (which US people will call it pay as you go if I'm not mistaken) "amigo", and there's a bunch of people around me with plan tarifario. I plan to make some tests next week. I know some guys at telcel, we hope we'll get it working but who knows. Just for the record, TyTN II is based mainly for europe. There's a reason most US versions leave the front camera behind. Tilt, X7501, Cingular 8525 among others. Who knows if we can do videocalls... We should try if we 3 have that possibility.

3G technology is a whole diferent band... it's not the same frecuency. And we use 1900mhz not 850. That's for argentina, venezuela and others in SouthAmerica.

por cierto, alguno de ustedes usa el destinator 6 o 7, el igo, o el route66? lo pregunto porque su kaiser tiene gps, y yo los uso pero con un modulo externo en mi prophet

Does Elf(in) P3452 support 3G. I am in Puerto Vallarta, and is using Amigo(pay as you go). Would love to switch to contract if Elfin works in 3G

The PDA works well but I live in argentuna and I can not grasp the 3g providers here, has 288 MB ROM, go fast, needs to be by someone who has ability to use the 3g in their country, greetings!

I live in Argentina too. The MyTouch 3G is not te one you need. It wont work here neither. Is 1700/2100.
The one you need is the Rogers Magic from Canada, is the only one with 850/1900. I know it because Im a happy owner of one, and Im using it with full 3G with Movistar.
If you are planning to buy an american phone, only At&t phones will work here.

[Q] Stuck on Edge, lost 3g on Tmobile after flashing Euro firmware

Any idea as to why this happened? I am sure i lost the USA Tmobile 3g band when i updated. Any way to restore this?

Very detailed answer you will find in numerous postings.
My advice would be to read and learn other peoples experience before doing such things like changing your expensive toy's firmware.

There is a t-mobile stock firmware in Odin compatible package by rotohammer.
I think you need to extract the modem.bin and just flash it back using Odin.
But frankly speaking, I don't own a tab, let alone a US version flashed into Euro.
I am just lurking around to read as much as I can before buying one and tinker with it.

Yeah, you should be able to extract the modem.bin from rotohammer's T-Mobile backup. Put it into the PHONE slot in ODIN and hit Start. (Just reflashed my modem on my AT&T Tab to get HSPA instead of HSDPA, but the process should be the same.)

I would like to be helpful but seriously man! Did you even read the COUNTLESS threads on this?? Anyway, im assuming you flashed the euro firmware to get telephony capabilities. If you flash the stock modem.bin then u get 3G but u dont get phone. If you want phone then your stuck on edge. Thats just the way it is...for now.

Even though some of us have provided some help, I must agree with what you and others are saying. It is a BAD IDEA TO NOT RESEARCH BEFORE FLASHING. Flashing is not without risk, so it is in everyone's best interest to read up before trying.

I'm from Puerto Rico. I have a T-Mobile Galaxy. Flash my Tablet and I got the phone. Runs much faster than the original ROM, I am using the Euro version. I echo a couple of tests with several Moden.bin. The Vibrant original gives good speed, good signal but very low sound on the phone. Axura The same thing happens. I tried the T-Mobile Original Galaxy tab and try to call and falls. I will continue playing around with it to see if I get something. In PR I have only 3G in certain areas. So I strive to both the 3G. But I will keep trying and tell them my experience. So far I leave with Moden that brings the Euro, a little shaky in the signal, but I can accept it. Great work friends.

Soy de Puerto Rico. Tengo una Galaxy tab de T-Mobile. Fachee mi Tablet y conseguí el teléfono. Corre mucho más rápido que la ROM original, estoy usando la versión Euro. E echo un par de pruebas con varios Moden.bin. El original de Vibrant da buena velocidad, buena señal pero muy bajo sonido en el teléfono. El de Axura pasa igual. Probé el Original de T-Mobile Galaxy tab y trata de hacer llamada y se cae. Seguiré jugando un poco con esto a ver si consigo algo. En PR solo tengo 3G en ciertas zonas. Así que no me esforzaré tanto en el 3G. Pero seguiré probando y les cuento mi experiencia. Hasta el momento lo dejo con el Moden que trae el Euro, un poco inestable en la señal, pero puedo aceptarlo. Gran trabajo amigos.

I had the same problem. This is because you flashed the wrong modem.bin file I am pretty sure. I am in BC Canada, so I have to use the bell modem.bin file. I have JM6 with the bell modem giving me full data and voice capabilities. I posted some details and files on how I got it working...

What's your version? If it's international i9000 (without T or M in the end), then you cannot do it. The hardware is just not there!

If you have the international version though, i'm pretty sure you will never get the 850 band because of the hardware.
Let us know how it works.

The modem will not help. You don't have the hardware for 850 umts in your phone. Only i9000t or i9000m have it...

Si tienes la version internacional i9000 (sin T o M en el final), el 3g 850 no va a funcionar, porque la antenna de 850 no esta dentro. Instalar otro modem no te va a ayudar.

Like others have told you... it is just the software side of the "support"! If you have checked with the Service manual and Schematics, some variants of Samsung Galaxy S (for RoW/EURO/APAC) lack the required PAM and FEM for the UMTS Band V (850) operation physically, while some lack the required counterparts for the UMTS Band VIII (900) operation.
Try to hook one up with a set of signal isolation box, signal generator and analyzer (R&S, Agilent, etc.), then you will find out if the Galaxy S I9000 is capable of "WCDMA 850 (FDD V)". DO NOT get confused with the "Quad-band GSM"... "If it can do quad-band in 2G, then why not in 3G?" BECAUSE the it is handled by another set of PAM and FEM.

No se mucho de eso pero seguramente tengas razón... Lo que no comprendo es porque si dice que en WCDMA si esta activa dicha banda...

Dice que esta activa, porque el sistema operativo diseñaron para ser compatible con todas las versiones de i9000 (T - Latinoamérica y Oceanía, M- Canada, B- Brasil y Argentina). Si prestas atención en Wcdma hay cuatro bandas 850, 900, 1900, 2100. Las versiones M y T tienen la ANTENA FÍSICA para las bandas de 850, 1900 y 2100, mientras que la versión internacional tiene para 900, 1900 y 2100...

I have an I9000T with Darkys 9.2 rom
I have gone into the service menu and set my band to the following
GSM: GSM 900
COMBI: GSM 900 , DCS 1800 , WCDMA 850
But everytime I change network mode from GSM to WCDMA or GSM/WCDMA
Or at least everytime I turn the phone off on
The band selection is lost and defaults back to the original
Is there anyway to hack this so it stops changing to the defaults?

I don't know a way to save these settings. I am not sure if it's even possible...

Maybe your APN was wiped out. Check it first.

APN is fine.
Only EDGE conection.

Same for me i'm for argentina..and i lost signal on rural zones because europe does not have 850 mhz band..try in menu *#2263# if you can activate your 3g bands..i had no luck

He tratado con ese menú, pero no pasa nada. Sólo tengo señal 2G!
Lo raro es que cuando actualicé a XXBK3 no perdí el 3G, sólo cuando cargué el bootloader de 2.3
I've tried the menu, but nothing happens. I have only 2G signal!
The strange thing is that when I upgraded to the XXBK3 3G not lost, only when loading the bootloader from 2.3

In xxxkb3 menu worked for me too..now it doesn't..i think it's band problem and that menu is not activating our 3g bands..americas firmware starts with LU not XX but i cannot find no one..

Yo también perdí la conexión 3g al flashear con XXKPE y la recuperé flasheando con el modem de otra rom y restaurando el archivo /efs/nv_data.bin.
I also lost the 3G connection when XXKPE flashing. But recover that with this instructions:
