I received the OTA for 17a today, and I'd like to try and update it with flashfire, but I can't find it, and neither can flashfire.
any help would get a hug and maybe a smooch?
Why you wanna update using flashfire?
Why not download the kdz and flash or check for the zip on here??
Not sure what your trying to do...
I'd like to know too.
It won't autoupdate since it just reboots into twrp. I'll have to do it manually, but no idea where the ota file is located.

Hi guys
What is the least troublesome way of getting to 7.1.1 rooted/twrp from 6.0 rooted/xposed/unlocked/twrp installed ?
I'm willing to wipe, and would really just like a flashable zip but don't see any.
I'm not that familiar with update.zip's , but it seems like that might be the long way around, is to wipe system, apply the update.zip from ZTE and then accept the latest OTA? I don't know if that overwrites TWRP or whether an update.zip will even apply over TWRP ... ?
thanks for any advice

I don't know if you can get to 7.1.1 yet, but you can get to 7.0. I think you might have to wipe, and XPosed isn't availible for Nougat quite yet. The OTA update from ZTE won't work because your phone doesn't have the stock signature. Most stock ROMs you flash will take away TWRP and replace it with the stock recovery.
Miflash b15 full, take ota, flash twrp and su.
TWRP Flashable B19 (7.1.1) is coming

Thanks I muddled through by applying the B15 update.zip, then taking the OTA, and now I'm trying to get TWRP back and rooted.

You've probably figured it out, but I'll give you this just in case: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/help/upgraded-2017u-rooted-7-0-to-7-1-1-t3574033
I got the OTA update, and I stand corrected on not being able to receive them.

Thanks. It was a new development that I didn't know about that miflash can be used, so once I found where to get it, and got through it's idiosyncracies (what a horrible f-ing app it is) it was smooth sailing.
Got a rooted Nexus 6P with June security patch, and the July security patch is downloaded. Does anybody know where that actual update.zip OTA file is located? I found a few threads from a few months ago, but apparently Google moved the location because the file is no longer in the usual spot.
I don't want the full 1.3 GB OTA image file from Google, either.
I've got a root file explorer and tried searching for it, but no luck. FlashFire can find it, so I know it's there somewhere...
Anybody have any ideas?
The incremental OTA images can be found here...
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
... but you'll want to use the full factory image with Flashfire. Flashing the OTA update using Flashfire will result in a failed flash.
..but that's just not true. I've used the OTA images before and they worked just fine. I already said I don't want the full images. I want to know the location of the tiny OTA update file that's downloaded through the phones System Update.

Found it! Thanks
Hmm. Actually, that file is called "update_s.zip.uncrypt"
...that seems like it's just the unencrypted copy of the file that FlashFire makes so it can use it.
But where is FlashFire getting the REAL file from?
Hello,
today i wanted to update my *rooted* WAS-LX1 to B182, so i downloaded the update.zip and tried to flash it with FlashFire.
Then my phone booted in Error Mode. So i tried to boot in Fastboot mode, and it worked. So i flashed TWRP and now i want to install Stock firmware again, but i don't know which file i should flash. I've got 3 files called update.zip, update_data_full_public.zip and update_full_WASL21A_hw_eu.zip.
I hope you can help me.

To update my rooted phone to B182 I had to download the full package (2.3gb, including update.zip and update_full_WASL21A_hw_eu.zip). I was not successfull in updating via TWRP. I updated via the official system menu so I don't know how exactly it was applied. According to other guides (http://www.stechguide.com/tag/was-lx1c432b182/ for example) it should be update.zip first and update_full_WASL21A_hw_eu.zip second, without a reboot. Let us know how it worked out...

Unfortunately it didn't work. The only thing i can do is boot in the TWRP recovery. Is there a way to flash the stock rom with fastboot?

I only tried flashing the update via sideload and recovery and it didn't work (http://rootmygalaxy.net/flash-ota-firmware-updates-using-adb-fastboot-commands/). Maybe you are lucky. Problem is, I'm quite new to this stuff, hopefully someone else can help out.
Can someone please provide us with a link for the stock recovery?

By the way, i solved the problem. I downloaded HuaweiUpdateExtractor for extracting the .img files from the update.app and i flashed them with fastboot.
Nice, congrats
Hey, so I am all new to rooting, I have rooted my G6 H870 with TWRP and Magisk, I have been getting messages on the phone telling me to install a software update, but after some browsing around I am told not to do it directly via the install button and that I need to flash the update, how do I do this?
As far as I know I need to install the update and flash it with FlashFire so all my data won't disappear, is this correct?
I am scared to root my G6 D:
Its easy bro. You need just download the update as a zip file and flash it with twrp without deleting your data or anything

Yes, it is 11i. So I just need to flash it with TWRP and none of my data, files or memory will be deleted?

Is updating with root quite simple? Do I just need to restore the boot, apply the OTA, boot with the new magisk_boot, and if successful, install root permanently via magisk?
I haven't been able to find a guide, and the information is scattered, which makes me a bit unsure. Some questions come to mind: If something modifies the system, do I need to reflash it before the update? How can I find out if it's modified? Does installing Revanced YouTube as root modify the system? Do I need to uninstall any Magisk modules?
To be safe, should I only update when the ROM is available? Alternatively, I can sideload the update via recovery or put it in an OTA folder and run the updater?
What steps if anything goes wrong?
Maybe someone has the energy to write a short guide, which would be greatly appreciated by me and maybe others too.

Open magisk, select uninstall and then restore stock images, DO NOT REBOOT, perform the OTA update, after it finishes DO NOT REBOOT, open magisk, select install, select install in the inactive slot.
After it finishes reboot when magisk ask you to.
You can only apply ota updates if system and vendor partitions are not modified.
You have to restore them if you have modified them or deselect the magisk modules that modify them.
Revanced yt is systemless, like busybox, universal safetynet fix and (obv) systemless host.
If a module modifies system it should be noted on the official repo or xda page.
After the update you can re activate all the modules that modify system and vendor.
Update when you feel it, sometimes it's good to wait, sometimes it's pointless.
If you don't have the ota update message you can update with the zip file.
You still have restore stock images, then either install the ota via dialer (which worked for me) or sideload recovery (which didn't).
After it finishes installing, reboot into fastboot and boot the modified boot.img
Open magisk and direct install it.
Depending on WHERE the operation goes wrong you could need just to boot the modified 1.1.8 boot img again to return in the previous context, maybe you could need to flash the full zip because of a soft brick or in the most extreme cases EDL mode with the guide here in xda.
