Dark theme
Hi guys, just updated my ze552kl to Android O, get rid of annoying dots and background apps notification, so far so good. Anyone has any idea to get dark themes especially on quick tiles section? I don't mind spend some bucks for dark theme as long as it gets things done consistently, not just main setting page. Alternatively, I'd like to try Andromeda addon but most of the themes do not recommend quick tiles theme adjustment (just color, not icons) which is kind of pointless. So, it would be appreciated if someone could recommend a spesific dark zenui theme or share any thoughts and experience with Andromeda on ze552kl. Thanks in advance

Well I don't what's wrong but the suggested theme partially change phone, contacts, wallpapers, icons, main setting page only. The quick tiles remain white. I guess I'm out of luck, but there is a wayout please be kind enough to inform.

If you want to change icons only from other theme, it can be achieved via zenui theme and select customize from within the theme you want the icons to be applied (check icons only). Or from installed iconpack from Preference --> Icons/folder. It works fine for me.

you mean the notification shade?
The themes work for me on the notification shade
Check attached image.
This is the Space and Beyond theme. Don't customize it, choose apply all and then change wallpaper or icons as desired. Make sure you are on the latest version for ZenUi, Themes and all asus apps.

Magisk 15.3 works for me.

Is there a way to change the lock screen clock? It's absolutely hideous and very poorly designed

@newcdn
I was looking into the same thing, can't find an option. Maybe xposed module, haven't found anything yet.

Yeah, I wonder why is it so hard to have simple thing. It's only partially applied with quick tiles / notification remain stock (white background /blue icons). I didn't do factory reset after Oreo update. Backup /restore process is so tiring.

[Q] fullscreen only with stock wallpaper?

Hi! why only with stock LG wallpaper I can see a full screen image in my home? with custom image, the topbar it's only quite transparent, not totally like stock.
how can I solve this?
Been having the same question. After some search, it seems that using the Xposed mod is one of the way to get a 100% transparent bar. Not sure if there are any other ways..

I'll let other, more informed G2 owners confirm this, but I believe that if you install wallpapers via an apk, the G2 sees those as "stock" and you can get a transparent notification bar. I am still exploring this.

Wallpaper as an apk..? Okay unless I'm going crazy from all the studying that is something new to me. I don't remember installing wallpaper.. However I did install apps that has a selection on wallpapers. After setting it thru the app, the status bar becomes translucent. Thanks for the info though. Will search around because I really liked the transparent status bar.

Let me re-phrase that:
I meant to say that you can find apps (apks) that install wallpapers - and when they do (I believe) the G2 will see them as "stock", not as "pictures" that are used as wallpaper. When those wallpapers are seen as stock, you get 100% transparency in the notification bar. This is what I think - still looking into it. Hope this is helpful!
Well it's pretty simples really ... the status bar icons are white and aqua, these would only be easily visible on a dark (non-white) background, which all the stock wallpapers are ... now if you use a custom wallpaper, I doubt the phone can detect what colour the wallpaper is, so to avoid numpties setting a white wallpaper and then wondering/complaining why their icons have disappeared, they have set it so that there is a semi transparent black bar for all custom wallpapers to ensure the icons can still be seen regardless of what colour the wallpaper is.
Simples.

Makes sense.
So is it the case that when you install wallpapers via an app/apk, the G2 sees those as "stock" and won't automatically apply the semi-transparent background? Just wondering...

I'm not sure about that, I don't tend to set wallpapers straight from an app, I always download them, I actually only really use the wallbase.cc app for all my wallpapers. (best wallpaper app).
But if was to take a guess, I would say that the phone assumes all the pre-installed stock wallpapers are compatible with a transparent status bar ... so if you get the phone to think your custom wallpapers are preinstalled stock wallpapers then it might work.
This could be just as simple as saving the wallpapers in the correct system folders along with the other stock wallpapers. Which might explain why if you set it from the app directly it works, as you're not actually downloading the wallpaper, so the app only saves it as a temporary file in the system folders, thus making the phone think it's a stock wallpaper.
Again, these are all assumptions, I haven't tested any of it so it could all be useless info ... but worth looking into .. I do like the transparent status bar.

I believe the phone came with a light blue sky wallpaper. That should have made the status bar translucent. But it didn't. Is it possible to put in wallpapers together with the system's default set? You just need to add pictures into the specific folder eh?
tried to achieve the same with GravityBox Xposed module and it works just as strange as observation in this thread. the status bar becomes transparent right after applying the settings no matter the wallpaper but it goes into the usual semi transparent mode right after you visit the app drawer for example.

Themes on S8 without root?

I want to install a "dark" theme for my S8 Snapdragon that's in the S7 forum. Can I do this on S8 without root (using Package Disabler method)?
If this is possible, will there be any glitches I should be aware of ahead of time? If I can do this, I may never root... well, probably will just to get rid of Samsung-ware.

Themes in the "Theme Store" can't change the Messaging app color / text box color, can it? I'm looking for something to give me as much white text on black background as possible in apps / System UI / dialer.
I don't mind paying for a theme in the Theme Store if this can be accomplished.

The "High Contrast Theme" from Samsung has a pure black background with white text in the stock messaging app (for free).

Thanks for that. The white text input box at the bottom is what I was hoping I could make white on black. I've used a few themes around XDA that could do this - like this one I'm currently using on my S6:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/theme-samsung-galaxy-s8-t3582967
I bet there is a user made theme that blacks that out as well but I've only tried a few. I'll let you know if I come across one.
EDIT - Hmm it seems like all of the black themes on the Samsung app have the white text box, maybe they don't allow that to be changed on the stock app?
I have been playing around with Textra for messaging and it allows you to customize the look, see attached image. I think you could make those blue accents black as well.

I like that - I think I'll give that a try.
Yeah there are some elements the Samsung Theme Engine won't allow user created themes to change, at least from my understanding. The High Contrast theme and the use of Textra look like good options until we have root.
Thanks again!
Speaking of themes...Does anyone know if it is possible to get a plain black status bar (not transparent) with white text at the top of the screen all the time (without root)?

Lockscreen icons

Is there any chance to change lockscreen icons look?
As I see icons are always default one from theme which is used. If I change app icon in drawer or on home screen, icon for that(same) app is still default on lockscreen.
Is it somehow possible to set your own icons? Maybe with root? But still don't know how ...
Root, Xposed (not sure about lg compatibility though?) or maybe via Substratum.
There are a few options available I guess
Thanks for advice. Xposed, good option.
But, yeah, I'm guessing too, because there's not much about that (connected with G6) on google.

If the icons were themed then they should stay themed on the lock screen? If you dont mind, which theme are you using? maybe there is another resolution of icon that needs to be added for this to be shown.
And which icons are they??
What launcher are you using??
I can say that i have found on my themes that even though i themed my icons, that when i press the home screen to change wallpapers that the original gallery icon shows up. So i may need to add different sizes and get those the right size.

Yup, I saw that theme also changes icons. I know that. You can also DL icon packages (MIUI) which also change icons, but they're not quit the same as original icon form package ...
The only problem is, that there's hard to found theme with all the icons. For example, non of original LG theme don't have exDialer icon.
So, a little playing with themes help somehow.

No sadly we cant theme non system applications with this theme engine. And what can do is still limited. We cant touch everything.
So yea you will need to find an icon pack that works. Sorry

You can't change the quick settings icons without messing with systemUI i think, but MiFavor 5's themes actually look like they let you change that stuff. i'll try today maybe.
The problem is that I don't know where the downloaded themes are stored. And last time, when I tried with mifavor 4.2, swapping a stock theme with mine didn't work
