With new battery, still not working - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus 6P already needed a change of battery for a lot of use (I was driving Uber), the device reached the point where it could only be kept on for a few minutes connected to the charger, after a while it did not turn on again. I bought a new battery in Amazon brand Beltron and installed it. The first day, it came to load up to 96% and I used the device in the same percentage as for 40 minutes listening to music online until it started to go down, but normal. Once it dropped to 90% it started downloading faster and when it was about 70% it was downloaded as one point per second (exaggerated). After that, with only a few hours of use since I installed the battery, I have not managed to get the device to work again, because I leave it connected to the charger and it does not charge. I turn on the device but it immediately shuts down and is more curious than when I connect the charger, even though it had been turned off at 0%, it appears as if it had 25% but it is useless.
Things I have already done:
- Try another charger
- Remove batterystats.bin from TWRP

@Javichino Return the battery its probably a lemon. My first ordered battery from eBay had early shutdown issues. Luckily on eBay vendors value there ratings so they immediately sent a replacement. Been using that battery 5 months now working great zero issues. On Amazon you get a couple months to return so hopefully your in that time period.

Something abnormal happened this morning, when I turned on the device, without being connected to the electric current, it indicated a 35% charge which was reduced to 1% in 30 seconds. However, being at 1% was on for about 10 minutes until it finally went out.
I've been doing this several times, every time I turn it on, it appears loaded and drops to 1% in seconds ...

Your wasting time the battery is defective. Can you send it back for a replacement?

[Q] Battery stuck on ?

My nook, even after charging completely, dissconnecting the power cord, and using it for hours after, always shows a ? for battery status. Under settings battery % always reads unknown.
Anyone experienced this problem? My nook is rooted (rotted?).

Although I haven't read about the BatteryManager ever returning unknown,
I'd be interested to know what the battery/charging status says in UsbMode.
This app has a group that displays all the broadcasted info on the battery.

Solved
So, I let the thing sit for weeks. Too busy with school to send it back to b&n for a reaplcement. I finally decided to deal with it, I plugged it in and in a few minutes it said battery to low to charge. I had to wait 15 minutes. So i let it charge till full. Upon booting, and unplugging, battery registered 100 percent and decresed with normal use.
In other words, let it totally run out of battery (could take weeks) then plug it in and let it fully charge.
Worked for me
I would like to confirm the OP's results. My battery started doing the question mark thing out-of-the-blue, about a month ago. I tried unrooting, restoring to factory settings, I even tried older versions of the Nook software to see if that made any difference, and nothing. I tried to drain the battery, transferring files to and from the Nook over wifi, and even when I couldn't boot from low battery, as soon as I plugged it in I got question mark battery. Being in Canada, getting my Nook replaced is a huge pain, so I left it for about a month. Pulled it out today, just for the heck of it, and I got the Not enough battery to turn on screen (which was new, when the battery was in question mark mode it would always attempt to turn on, but fail silently as soon as power was removed). I left it plugged in for a few minutes, and lo and behold it booted up and displayed the charging animation on the battery icon. I charged it to full, and it seems to be as good as new.
So, for anybody else that has this issue, the fix seems to be to let it drain for a very long time, then recharge. Shortcuts don't work, and it isn't a hardware issue that needs replacement.

Do the charger not shutoff when the battery is full?

Since I got this phone I have found the battery life to be quite good, although for some reason the battery stays above 100% for a long time once taken off the charger. All other Android phones I have owned have always quickly dropped down from 100 to about 90 before leveling off to a more linear discharge speed. One thing I noticed that seems strange on this phone is that it seems like the longer I leave the phone on the charger, the longer the battery reading stays at 100%. This should not be the case if the battery signals to turn off the charger. To test this theory I have done the following:
Charge overnight for a week. Results: battery stays at 100% for 3-5 hours once coming off the charger
Charge when I get home from work and unplug shortly after reaching 100%. Results: battery drops from 100% to 99% within a half hour
Charge the battery to 100%, then leave it plugged into a USB to slowly keep charging for another 12 hours. Result: battery stays at 100% for 10-12 hours before dropping to 99% Here are some screenshots to show the battery staying at 100% for a long time:

So now I am kinda worried about overcharging the battery and either blowing it up or destroying its lifetime. Any thoughts on this?
I don't think you have to worry about over charge. More than likely the battery just isn't calibrated properly. You can try to do that manually, though I'm not sure how much it'll help...my G2 also seems to stay at 100% for a long period of time.
Sent from CAMACHO, my Verizon G2 (VS980) running PAC ROM.
They all have a magic 100% and crap last 5%.The charger does trickle and shut off. Watched it with mA reader. It's just poor calibration. Don't even worry about it.

battery issues please help

Here is another
My phone has been in my pocket all day not being used until just now when I made this post
I should also mention it is fully stock
looks pretty standard for stock to me. 5 hours for 23% of the battery? That means about 20 hours a cycle? seems very standard for stock.
If you want more then you gotta go custom ROMS and Kernels.
If your rooted use SET CPU to make phone clock speed 322-400 mhz when the screen is turned of.
But why is it awake so much?
Search for "AndroidOS Bug" and you'll get the answer.

This bug really makes it hard to enjoy the note 3 as a whole. I was plagued by this pretty badly until recently I sort of found a workaround.
Some time ago I found out, that in offline mode the bug is not present. I came across it, when i was in our datacenter where the cell signal is a nightmare. I turned on offline mode and switched WiFi back on (thankfully we have a WiFi active there) and the battery drain was very low with active WiFi and bluetooth (headset connected) over a period of several hours.
I did still encounter the Android OS bug afterwards, but then once after my phone was fully charged, I put it into offline mode for some time (30 secs or one minute) and then switched back to normal and that day I had exceptional battery life (whole day = ~12h with some time checking, messaging and checking mail, with ~70% battery left) which i assume must be the actual battery life that the phone is capable of without bugs.
So long story short:
possible workaround for the Android OS bug: put phone in offline mode for ~1 minute, then back into normal mode
I would love to read if somebody tried this and gave some feedback.

Overheat Damage from Charging?

Ok so I'm slightly panicking... I forgot to charge my phone 2 nights ago, so I went the next day from like 50% down to 4% maybe (awesome battery life coming from my Gnex!). Plugged it in to charge. Woke up 8 hours later and the phone was pretty warm, but fully charged. Well, I got in the car to go to work and the screen just went black when I tried to play some music and BT, then the phone rebooted. It was still kinda warm so I just turned it off for a half hour on the way to work. Left it sit on my desk all day (busy day) and start using it this evening. So far the phone has rebooted itself twice now on its own. I cleared cache and dalvik thinking it'd help after the first reboot. Is it possible somehow the full charge up and heat maybe broke something? My verizon dev edition is only a few weeks old!
My phone has never gotten more then a gentle warmth to it while charging - are you using the stock power adapter? If it got hot enough to damage it from charging then you should have it replaced.
It also might just need a full reset, but that will erase all data.
All smartphones have PMIC(Power Management Integrated Circuit) on their boards to prevent the battery from being overcharged and having too much current running through such that the battery would feel anything more than mild under the most stressful loads. If a phone(our Moto X) has Qualcomm's Quick Charge 1.0 and is pulling the full 1.1A from a battery at 20%, then the battery is going to feel warm as the current-draw is at its highest from 20% to 80%. Here's a line-graph comparing charge times to illustrate the point where Quick Charge 2.0 was being graphed.

With regard to the OP's situation: I have no idea without a logcat file to say for sure.

[Q] Sudden battery life change

Hello,
I've experienced a sudden change in battery performance.
What used to take around 50% of battery now takes around 85%.
It happened recently, around the same time I started working at a new workplace. The reception is horrible there, maybe that's the issue. However during the weekends, it is around the same.
I was on 4.4.2 stock when it happened and since then I've flashed it again once. I've also tried a couple of different radios (and enabled LTE) and I've always had franco kernel.
Brightness was always on Auto (which I shall turn off to experiment battery life) and wifi is selected to be off when the phone is off.
I have still a few more experiments to do, but I'm considering using warranty services. What do you guys think? It's clearly not as bad as some of the other battery issues I've seen on this forum, but it's quite the change for me. I bought this phone in July 2013.
Here is an example battery usage graph. Charging finished around 1 AM and left it unplugged over night. In the morning (~7 hours) the percentage was at 75%. (5% / hr) Throughout the day, I have used it for text messaging only and by 6 pm, it's at around 13%.
Thanks for taking the time to read my long post.

You can check what drains battery with BetterBatteryStats. Google it and you'll find.
Thanks for replying.
I have tried that before an OS reset although I couldn't make much out of it. One main thing I noticed was a certain kernel wakelock which, after I googled, was responsible for LTE connectivity. Although this makes sense, I had good battery life even with the LTE chip being used (& auto brightness / wifi always on) prior to this battery incident. By good battery life, I mean 50-60% used by the end of the day
