Here is how I have found you can get SPMC on the Fire TV/Fire TV Stick
Install latest SPMC 13.3.3
Open SPMC at least once (you may get a OBB not found error. You will have to copy that folder from another device if you have one)
I copied mine from my Nook hd+ running SPMC
go to Amazon.com and deregister your fire tv
restart the fire tv
re register with your same account
restart the fire tv
start SPMC from the settings apps menu
close SPMC
restart fire tv
SPMC should show up in your Recent menu on the home screen
note: you may have to restart the Fire TV a few times before SPMC shows up in Recent on the Home screen
I have SPMC on the Home Screen of both my Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. I can't post screenshots but this method has worked for both
Hope this will help someone. BTW I am not rooted! On the latest firmware
Interesting work around, I wonder how that works and other methods have not. I wonder if we can get this to work with other sideloaded apps also.
Thanks for sharing this
This has been the case for me with the firetv for a long time. I don't know if all versions work, because i upgraded spmc one time and the app didn't show up anymore. The version i had was a sideloaded app that i had installed to my phone through the amazon app store. I think that right there is the main reason it works and shows up.
Thinking back, i may have upgraded the spmc from chrome when it didn't show up.
Its good to see it works on the stick too. Waiting until jan 6th for mine....
You sure got my attention! Question, please...

Can you elaborate on that please? How do you copy an app from the HD+ to the Fire TV?
I didn't do anything special.
I downloaded the APK from -> http://spmc.semperpax.com/ and Side loaded it to my FireTV Stick using -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736774
After using it a few times it showed up in Recent on its own.
Note: I did unplug my Stick once, but I'm not sure if it was before or after installing/using SPMC.
EDIT: I did "purchase" via Amazon's app store on the PC prior to side loading. Amazon did tell me that it wasn't compatible with my devices. I continued anyway.
Can you try this with any other sideloaded app to see if it works? Seems like if this trick worked for SPMC, it would also work for Kodi

I used an App called Airdroid to download the SPMC app from my HD+ to my pc. then I adb copied the SPMC app to the fire tv and installed it. I then used the file manager ES File Explorer to copy the OBB to the Android OBB directory on the Fire TV.
Hope that answers your question.

You may be right regarding why it shows up if downloaded from amazon app store. I could never get it to download to the Fire TV and I have no other amazon devices so I downloaded it from the Google Play Store. I think that is also why it asks for the OBB file when you run SPMC for the first time after install. What is great about this is that it does not require root. Neither my Fire TV or Fire Stick are rooted.

I think you're right but I installed my SPMC from the Google Play Store. That may be why I had to do the extra steps to get it to show up on the Home Screen. I have no way of uploading to the forums or I would give the SPMC app and the OBB files to someone else to see if they can get it to work.

How do you do this? I admit, I am not fully sure I understand how Amazon appstore works, but I have several devices that are registered (phone, kindle tablet, fire tv, fire tv stick) and when I go to Amazon.com and search for SPMC, it shows that it is only compatible with my phone - does not give me option to deliver to my other devices.
Youd need to pull it from another device and push it over to the FireTV unless someone is kind enough to post the needed files then you just need to push them over.

There is an app I saw in another thread called AGK Fire which will allow you to push installed apps to your Fire TV by simply entering the I address of the Fire TV. Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought the poster was able to install SPMC directly from the Amazaon app store, like one would normally install an app directly from Google Play store.
I just tried this trick and it works!
Thanks dk1keith
I created an Android VM with VirtualBox, loaded the Amazon app store and downloaded SPMC.
I backed up the APK file and sideloaded it to my Fire TV stick and after de-registering my device and re-registering, SPMC now shows up in the recent app list.
Other apps like ES File Explorer show up as well.
This is great as it eliminates the need for Llama for sideloaded apps.

The FireTV isnt on the compatible list in the Amazon store so you have to pull it from another source.
I side loaded the amazon HBO GO Fire TV apk and it works fine on the stick. It eve showed up in recent apps after a few mintues. It run s little slow but I read it also does on the FireTV.
Get APK Here
http://www.speedyshare.com/pP3ve/HBO-GO-2.7.06.apk
Every single time I get activation error the app will restart something like that.
Works fine on FireTV
That's odd had no issues activating.
Didn't try apk from link above but did transfer it directly from Fire TV - Fire TV stick. App works fine but navigation through menus are definitely laggy on Fire TV Stick compared to regular Fire TV.

What are you using to navigate on the Fire TV Stick since it doesn't work with the standard remote?
How do you install this? I sideloaded via ADBFire but when I launch it, it says that I don't own it and takes me to the screen to install it. Attempting to install it says that my device is not compatible with it. I am not rooted. and am running the 6220 firmware.
Any ideas?

Because it doesn't work at all for me and I thought I saw in another thread someone say you needed wkremote app to make it work. wkremote does work for me, but it's a pain.
I just pushed the .apk from my play store phone version of hbo go to my fire tv stick. That's the same 2.7.06 version as in the OP, so not sure if what the OP posted is different, but just the same version #.
OP, did you get that file from the Fire TV?

The .apk in the OP is a different version of HBO Go, even though the filename is the same.
It is laggy, but I am able to control it with the Fire TV Stick remote.
Use apk from Amazon for Fire TV, not from Google or other sources.
unfortunately Charter has not enabled this and the showtime yet for the fire tv so I am using the phone version with the wukong remote

Apparently Comcast is the same. I guess after successfully holding Netflix hostage they want to do it with everything. It plays on my Kindle fire, but when I hook up the hdmi, all I get is the HBO GO menu, and then the hbo logo intro, ratings, etc., and then a black screen with a zero minutes time bar across the bottom, till it times out and goes back to the menu. Anyone with comcast able to get the stick to work?.]
HBO Go (version from the OP) stopped working on my Fire TV Stick. I now get a "video error: we're having trouble playing this video right now".
Anyone still have it working?
What's strange is that my Fire TV firmware is the same version as when it was working and the app hasn't update, so is this some sort of a server side block?
Is there a newer version than what's in the OP somewhere?
HBO Go still works on my android phone so it's not something network related. Other video apps work fine on my Fire TV Stick.
Looks like there might be an update that fixes the issues.
http://www.aftvnews.com/hbo-go-app-requires-updating/
But, in the picture, it says the new version is 2.7.06, but that's what's in the OP already.
Since I have a fire tv stick and have hbo go sideloaded, I can't get an update through the fire tv stick.
Anyone have a new .apk to try?

No one with a Fire TV (not stick) has received the update yet and can post the .apk?
until we get proper version for fire stick.. you guys can use sceen mirroring off your tablet/phone to play it easily (a some sort of workaround)
late to the party
so I'm a bit late to the party, but is the APK in the original post here no good now?
Not sure if this is known already but i found a way to make my side loaded apps appear under apps on my fire stick main menu using agk fire app.
I download and installed the amazon store apk on my phone then side-loaded it on my fire tv stick, after that you will be able to see all the side-loaded apps under app section thus eliminating the need to use fired tv launcher or llama app,
I am not sure if it works with the fire tv but i guess someone can try and report back.

This has been reported before. I believe it may stop some of the amazon services from working properly (installing apps, watching videos, etc.) I have never tried it personally though.
Applications Organizer Pro FireTV edition does this too. You can enable single click launch in the app settings last time I checked it was on sale for $0.99. It is native. I wish FiredTV was approved as native

Hey I did install the appstore apk and it did make all the apps appear on the main menu under apps. However it just goes away after the fire tv stick is restarted. Not sure what is wrong, is there any other option which needs to be changed?

Yes the app certainly makes things easier than going through settings etc.. . Since its a native app to FTV, it shows on the main apps homepage. Nice.. If the developer could add a "Dashboard View" that can be displayed on startup, and allow the user to tag specific apps to show on the dashboard, this would satisfy me. It would allow the most used apps to be launched with two clicks from the home page apps category.
I'm running vanilla FireTV, no root, no Organizer Pro, nothing special. I've noticed, as others have as well, that if you sideload an Amazon app store app it will show up in "Recent" on the main AFTV menu. Between this and the AGK Fire side-loading app on my Android phone this is good enough for me. Just install an app from Amazon on my phone, then with a few clicks AGK Fire pushes it to my AFTV and I'm good to go. Now if only Amazon would push out an update to let us use USB storage for apps or at least app data without rooting I'd be completely satisfied.
How are you guys able to sideload the amazon appstore apk onto the FireTV
I downloaded the Amazon appstore apk from the Amazon website onto my computer and tried sideloading using ADB. When trying to sideload, the command states "FAILURE [INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY-EXISTS]"
Is it because the amazon appstore is currently installed on the firetv?
Edit: I just used the AGK Fire app and it worked perfectly. Is there anyway for Kodi to appear on the recents menu?

I keep seeing people say the firedTV launcher should be a native app, but that will never happen. There is a better chance of Amazon sellling Fire TVs at buy one get two free than them approving another laucher to be a native app. They do not want other launchers to be used, and for good reason, they are a business that is selling entertainment and their product is incorporated in to their launcher, so why would they be dumb enough to approve a launcher that does nothing to help sell their products? Approving the fired TV launcher to be a native app would be beyond stupid for Amazon to do. I do not like the default launcher at all, but the day Amazon approves a third party launcher as a native app for the fire TV, is the day I lose respect for them as a business, and so would all their investors.

You do not really have to uuse adb to sideload apps, just download them from your browser and install em, cause its much easier. I have sideloaded two apps, a browser and a file manager, and if you have those to apps there is no need for using adb.

That is just wishful thinking. I agree with you and do not expect it to be approved in it's current design. A substitute launcher that hijacks the home button will not be approved by Amazon ever, even is just an option that is disabled. (I posted that in the Fired TV thread). It would interfere with the advertisement of paid content. All I want is simple grid "sublauncher" for sideloaded apps like chainfire did for the Nexus Player, but native. I think that fact that App Organizer was a passive app allowed it through.
I subscribed to Directv Now thinking the asus player would work since it has the Google Play store, but states incompatible with my device.
Anyone know a work around?
FireTV stick is supported at current time, along with iOS, Android (phone/tablet), and Apple TV. Support for Android TV and Roku are supposed to come later in the year sometime, I think, but in the meantime the only workaround I can think of would be to adapt the FireTV APK somehow, as it's the closest iteration of the app designed to work with a remote instead of a touchscreen...
I pulled the apk from the fire tv and loaded it into the Nexus player. You also need to install a version of the Amazon app store and sign in. On initial login, the last channel it was on loaded up for me. However, trying to change channels resulted in errors. Haven't tried anymore than that.

Hello!
Thank you very much for this app. I sideloaded on my FTVS and it works great with Spotify. Unfortunately I can't detect it with any other app like Chrome / Youtube... Is this app able to cast only sound?
I was able to test it with chrome tab cast and screen mirroring from Windows computer
Install Google Home on your tablet, phone, whatever and go to cast screen.
This works great. Just gonna keep stuff like roms\emulators on my tablet primarily now.
Thank you!
Hi, thanks for apk. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. I have installed your apk and googleHome Cast app. Moreover i installed the google play service for android tv. On my phone and my PC i can see the new "tv-stick-chromecast-device", but i don't can see anything if i try to send something from Phone or PC to the Stick. After opening the Chromecast app i tried to go to cast screen, but there is no device found. What i'm doing wrong, please help me. Thank you.
greetings
Sideloaded also and works perfect!!
Works perfect for me on fire stick 2nd gen nice one is it a full one or a trial ?
VERY cool!
It took me several times to get it to cast but it is works.
I hope this app sticks around longer than the last Google cast app for AFTV.

Hi josuelopezv:
What's so shameful. Developers give you a convenient to install android box without Google Play Service since you said you already buy it from Google PlayStore. But you leak it as piracy and don't think how many times developers spend to implement the Cast Protocol in house.

Same here. Casting from YouTube via Chrome on my laptop doesn't work but casting the whole screen does (never found a use for that though since the quality and latency make it pretty useless)
Yeah since I found a work around for the coming youtube/fire armageddon I'm not concerned. How are you casting the whole screen btw?

Why don't you find out for yourself? Kinda seems like a complete waste of time to register just to say this.
This appears to run as a chromecast receiver & NOT as a chromecast Audio receiver. I'm not sure why Google differentiates them but it would be nice to have a toggle in this app.
