I had phones before that could not get root because the bootloader could not be unlocked if they were carrier-branded. Is there a chance with the Moto G4 Plus that it could not get root or custom recovery (TWRP)? I am thinking of getting this one but would like to confirm it can get root and CM? I'm in Canada. :good:

Title. I have tried the CF Root way but got on a bootloop.
Currently you cannot root it with cf-root but you can root it through chainfire supersu.

does oneclick root apps like kingroot, kingoroot etc work? If i downgrade from oreo to like android 5 and root could i update to oreo without losing root or is there even any way to have rooted huawei oreo without unlocking bootloader.

No, to root you must unlock bootloader, there is no other way. And you cant update from Emui 5 to Emui 8 with official updates, except using Hwota method.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I think this might be misleading for someone new. In order to get to a rooted Oreo, you will need to follow the dirty santa method, of getting a rooted phone with TWRP, and then you can use TWRP to flash the stock rooted firmware mentioned in the post above. (I could be completely wrong as I have not done any rooting yet on my VS995 yet but I have tried to follow the proper methods. I keep hoping developers will come up with a way to root oreo, without having to go backwards).
