Hello,
I recently noticed that the LG H815 build has been removed as a download because of an encryption issue, and I was wondering if, other than this, there were any other issues causing it to be taken down (I'm thinking of building it unofficially)
Thanks

There is an unofficial LOS build already. That's what I meant to say.
Yes encryption is the issue why we do not have official ones but encryption is fixed on aoscp by our genius kessaras. Ask in kobtuls LOS thread what the state in LOS is.

I have just noticed it says you need v29a firmware. If I download it from cypheros.co, does it still need v29a (I'm on v20g and would rather keep it so I can roll back to stock using a TWRP backup if I need to)

You just need a V29a modem and bootloader package if you have a H815 handset, and you can actually flash that in TWRP as there is a flashable ZIP for that. I went straight from OEM Lollipop to AOSCP Oreo without issues.

I assume this is mainly due to performance reasons and compatibility with newer custom firmware, but I do not know the full, technical story as to why that is the case. You're better off asking @kessaras and @steadfasterX for the answers

as far as i know if you have h815 that unlocks with .bin key from LG its bootloader its unlockable and it has antirollback 0 unless you have h815t or h815p thats locked bootloader and cant rollback i think
ask in thread and tell them if you have official unlocked boorloadre from LG. if you can roll back if you flash v29.

I assume any Nougat or Oreo, or PQRSTUVWXYZ ROM needs the latest available OEM bootloader/modem package, but don't act on this information unless you have asked around and those on this forum give the same answers.

Ok. Just out of interest, if I did flash a ROM that required a different bootloader and modem to the version I have, would it brick my phone or would it just not work properly

You CAN use an outdated modem partition. But you may encounter issues like camera crash, bad or no sound on voice calls, gps probs and / or sensor issues.
And depending on several things it's possible that it JUST WORKS FINE. I have tested even a LP modem partition with oreo (just a short test a while ago) and all was working here but issues can happen rarely.
A brick is possible but it will be a soft brick only which means the download mode is still there and you can flash a kdz to recover if needed. It either bootloops or a demigod bluescreen will happen on boot.

Thanks for confirming this. I want to keep as much of my phone stock as possible so it is easy to revert back to full stock if anything happens (this is my first proper venture into custom ROMs).
Also, is there any way to tell which version the rom requires by looking at the install files

I am not getting any signal after flashing recent Nougat update NPJ25.93-11 on my XT1643. My dual SIM phone shows only one IMEI of SIM 1.
I have tried nearly all combination of flashing
- Restored working TWRP backup
- Flashed Nougat modem on Vache's server on Nougat ROM
- Flashed MM modem of two different firmwares and then flashing MM ROM
Nothing is working, my phone shows only one IMEI and network search fails with error.

My suggestion is to flash original MM ROM for your device via fastboot. Your priority is to get everything back to normal. Forget your data (back it up somewhere)
Please, however desperate you are, NEVER flash a firmware not meant for your device. That is just asking for trouble.
Good luck.

True that! :good: I think it is some kind of obsession that drives people to do it. The same type of behavior that makes people stand in line for hours just to see the premiere of a movie release or to get Black Friday deals. Or even worse - to get the latest Crapple hardware.
Is it possible, to open a thread for the Nova Plus MLA-LXX only?
Root, firmwareupdates , etc.
i think its a good idea...im in canada /rogers with mla-l03...and not much here for our version
Not rooted ( yet ) but got the unlock code, me too
have the code, yet not used, all my other mobiles ihave rooted
Like i said...our device is a one pretty young...birth in september so...theres no rush to "enter the dragon"
But very anxious to try nouEmui
i have tried the unlock code, and it works, but i have relocked it.....
I've the MLA-L11 too. would be awsome to have a working TWRP , no use in getting bt unlocked
unless there is a custom recovery. I'd say we find a dev and donate enough to persuade him to work
on a twrp !

Hi, where is the android 7.0 for us, I hate Huawei when they are late on softwares....! I'm having a problem to use youtube over the phone network with my Nova Plus.
Thanks
guys the MLA varients work with xelfmade's TWRP recovery and roms can be unified to work on all varients
Ota upgrade made with my MLA-L03 to Nougat yesterday and all working great! Used FF to push the update via proxy and changed from C654B140 to C578B302 with stock updated app. Best I've like the phone yet!! Big improvement in every aspect so far.
Buddy,
for us using the MLA-L03 can you explain in details how you did that ? Been waiting for ages to get that OTA update that never comes lol
Thanks in advance

You can try this to update to Nougat: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G79/g0/v73849/f1/full/update.zip Extract all the files and place them in a dload folder then place that on the root of your SD Card and install it using the three button method. If your Build Number is not showing up correctly after installing that install this: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...-L11_hw_eu/update_data_full_MLA-L11_hw_eu.zip using the same method as before. If it does not work the first time you may need to flash the stock EMUI 5 Nougat recovery which will let you install Nougat updates, I had to do this for the CAN-L01C432 variant as the update kept stopping at around 40%. EMUI 5 Nougat Recovery: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4T1GJ6EZ3LvTWNpZ0p5YXVINGs It is up to you to try it and I am not trying to make you as I do not have a MLA variant so I do not know if it will work or not. Yes, understand, which build is it and is there no problem to get the official one when i had install it?
If it doesn`t work how to get back to notmal firmware?
I have all my devices rooted , but this one not, there are to less informations about my build, therefore i have no twrp installed.
Im careful, my last device was honor 7, and i have no problem with twrp and root, but more informations.
Download is very slow.
Do you have made the update to nougat, and does it run without bugs?
I have seen that nobody shared this informations: openkirin is working on lineageos, resurrection remix, carbonrom and omnirom. These are treble ROMs and openkirin has published beta previews that support our device, we have fully working cameras with stock emui camera app on every rom( with all functions), every rom works perfecly, no bugs, no issues, everything works, I only faced with overheating caused by fast charger that I fixed using a normal charger. You find links on openkirin telegram group, keep in mind that these are only previews so things could be even better. (Thanks openkirin)

No. No volte. The openkirin team will tell you the exact same thing. And sorry but those who pay attention to xda about Oreo know these images already exist. They've been discussed here for well over a month.
I don't think the Treble ROMs are working very well. I've Tried LOS Beta 5 from openkirin's website. Factory reset using custom recovery after Flashing the LOS system image didn't work. However the ROM booted and there was some issues like, random google error message pop-ups and both the camera apps aren't working. I've tried this thoroughly by following the installation guide on their website but still had these issues. Any suggestions or help is welcomed.
You should NOT use custom recovery at all.

You first need to update to Oreo, yes. Neither Marshmallow nor Nougat support Treble ROMs.
Depending on where you live and what model you own you probably need to rebrand though. Or you wait until Honor/Huawei rolls out the update for your region, which shouldn't take TOO long anymore.

I'm experiencing similar things.
SD card doesn't get recognized/system says it's corrupted which is obviously isn't, root via ramdisk method works but Magisk is buggy and modules just won't install, WiFi randomly turns off or disconnects with no pattern behind it... I've tried both LOS (twice) and ROS (once) and they both have similar problems. Guess I'll have to stay on EMUI then... *sigh*

You are probably stucked because you upgraded to the latest bootloader:
After updating bootloader to U5/S5 (as in case of G95xFXXU5DSFB) it will not be possible to downgrade it again to any U2/S2/U3/S3/U4/S4 version

Here's a workaround:
Backup your present baseband on TWRP, flash ALEXNDR Oreo's ROM then restore your baseband, otherwise you won't have mobile signal and your IMEI will be unknown.
So in theory the only way to downgrade to Oreo or less, is having the bootloader unlocked with TWRP right? if not, you're stuck
No Bootloader downgrade. Not possible.

Quick question for you @nemesisexsp as you seem to know what you're talking about.
I'm in the same boat as OP. attached is my SOFTWARE INFORMATION section with my baseband and whatever. Slightly different to what you've posted on your screenshot.
Can you suggest which files I should use from the ALEXANDR Oreo Mod selection? also, just the ROM, or do i need to do something with the BL files also?
I'm rooted (with TWRP), so that shouldn't be any issue.

I suggest you flash the last Oreo ROM available for the S8 model (SM-G950F/FD). After you flash it you can boot normally in the ROM and see if your mobile signal is fine, if it isn't just restore your PIE baseband on TWRP.
Here's the original post in _alexndr thread where you can find the ROM link:

I was trying to get as stock as possible but only found a NOTE8-to-S8 rom and nothing else stock-y. This seems perfect.

Why would you want to downgrade anyways?

Because Pie is absolute trash on the S8 Active. Battery life went way down hill, constantly stutters like the CPU is loaded or it is thermal throttling, notification screen blanks preventing you from see any in the bar. Tapping notification doesn't always open. They ruined the camera UI. Control via bluetooth doesn't work anymore(forget the name but used to when I started my car it would automatically open Pandora and play. Instead now I have to unlock the phone and open Pandora manually".
I only wouldn't be surprised if it come out later that Samsung pulled and able and deliberately crippled devices to encourage upgrades. Joke's on them because my upgrade will be a different brand.

Unfortunately the S8 Active did not come in an exynos version AFAIK.
@nemesisexsp wondering, have you noticed much battery diff between Oreo and Pie?
Does anyone know where the Alpha Omega ROM threads are?
I'm on AO Oreo on both the US996 and VS995.
I was going to search in them for GPS issues (on the VS995), but I can't find the threads.
Anyone know where I can find some GPS help and/or AO Rom thread?
Unfortunately, it seems that the dev requested the threads to be removed, probably after being bothered too much by users, even though it was clearly stated that the work was discontinued long ago. I've only been able to find archived versions of the first pages for AO Nougat and AO Oreo. And you can still find the ROM files on AndroidFileHost here.
And FWIW, although it's not my main V20, I never had GPS issues on my US996 on AO Oreo.

Thanks on both acounts.
It is unfortunate the dev choose to drop his rom and no longer provide support. I still run it as my daily.
Yeah, the only problem I have with it is since Verizon rolled out a new update I lost WiFi calling on a clean install. Does anyone know a trick to make it work? Mis also considering performing the update. But I don't know what the consequences could be. I want to at least get my second v20 up and running.

I think the hybrid Oreo variant is based on the VS995 and was released before official Oreo existed for the US996. I don't own an F800, but you could probably just try the more updated VS995 version.

Yes, the latest 1.3.1 version. As always, make a backup of your current setup before trying this. And you may need to be a on a VS995 TWRP version to get the installer to work. I also heard that some users of other V20 models had problems installing Alpha Omega on TWRP versions higher than 3.2.3-4, so keep that in mind.

Yeah, look for the 3.2.3-4 for the VS995 under the old versions in that TWRP thread.

You can find it under the "Old versions" section and "3.2.3-4: 2018-10-18" in the first post of this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-unofficial-twrp-3-3-1-1-2019-10-25.3720239/
Sometimes, AndroidFileHost can't find a mirror for some old files, but if you keep refreshing and trying again, a mirror should eventually show up.

I think the constant vibration during boot-up is a side-effect for all VS995 ROMs, and there may not be any workaround for that. US996 ROMs don't have that problem, but I don't know how compatible they would be for the Korean models.
