I've attempted to root my s8 G950U and things did not go so well. Was locked in to boot loop, flash a Verizon rom onto my phone to get it working again now I have tons of bloatware and unable to send texts. I'm trying to find the stock rom from a straight talk G950U but have be unsuccessful for the past two weeks of searching through every forum and website I could find. Any help would be very much appreciated .

So i got my beautiful Galaxy S5 from Telus and as usual with all the phones i have, i unlocked it. So far so good. Next thing was to root it and to start with custom ROMs. So I used the method described in galaxys5root.com with 100% of success. I tried couple of ROMs and i did not like it. My problems started when i decided to go back to Stock ROM from Telus. I flashed the stock rom that i found on the same site i used for rooting the phone and got a Bell phone. Now whatever i do, i am ending with Bell stock S5 and i want my Telus stock. Trying emergency recovery didn't help. I could take the phone back because i have it only for a couple of days, but i put a good screen protector (40$) and i do not want to pay for unlocking the phone again as well.
Please help me in solving my problem. Any feedback is highly appreciated:-.
so far ive been able to put verizon ,sprint ,tmobile ,unified and a few other roms on my g900a...my question is if i can do this there has to be away to put lollipop on it ...so far every one ive tried takes me to recovery and locks my phone....is there anyway to do this?
Hey everyone, I been looking around the forums here and other sites and have learned a lot of info in pieces but I really need help with a particular issue. A friend of mine gave me a Sprint Galaxy SM-G900P (Galaxy S5) which is (of course) CDMA with GSM compatibility. Im unsure at the moment what service he was wanting to use but I know it is a GSM carrier (US) because he has a SIM he wanted to use. I owe him a favor so I told him I would try. Besides going the route of purchasing a unlock box and unlocking the phone with that, I discovered the SSU apk which SIM-Unlocks the phone. I downgraded the phone from Lollipop 5.0 stock to Android 4.4.2 KitKat (G900PVPU1ANE5) with ODIN. (FYI, i was stuck in download mode with no recovery mode for a week before finally getting one to work, and so happen to be that version that went through)..... I downloaded SSU and it unlocked the phone and I switched mobile network mode from CDMA to GSM Units. (NOTE: it says 4.4.2 and up will not work with USA carrier SIM cards without downgrading the Modem but I have not tried just yet) Im about to Root the phone but here is where my question comes in. I have read of people flashing roms to get their phones to work with certain carriers and other functions. Will rooting help me out at all? I guess IM asking if there is a ROM that I can flash onto the phone to enable the use of whatever carrier he is wanting to use with it. I know thats most likely useful in the situation, but Im awaiting that answer as we type. ANY help would be greatly appreciated ))) Thank you all.
Anyone? :/
Mods please move if this is in the wrong section, I tried posting in the VZW s8 forum , but since this is my 1st post it would not allow me to.....
So I recently switched carriers from VZW to Tmobile, swapped the sim card at the store and went about my day
Soon after I realized certain things didnt work, service seemed it wasnt to its full potential, no wifi calling, unable to update the OS because its unable to verify, and still had a bunch of VZW stuff on my phone
After searching how to reflash firmware on my phone I found a thread on here and a thread on reddit that seemed to be the 2 most popular guides
I am pretty new when it comes to this but I gave it my best shot, ive tried regular odin, prince modified odin, and phonlab version of odin, and I either get stuck in the connection phase, or it sayss failed device mismatch, or it freezes at 32%......
Also im not 100% sure which firmware im supposed to be uploading as certain links recommend something different.
All I want to do is take my VZW S8 and make it as if I have a Tmobile S8, I dont mind the factory T mobile bloatware and all that stuff, just want to be able to take advantage of the carrier specific features
My build number on my S8 is G950USQU1AQDE
If someone knows of a clear cut thread or video guide that they have used and it actually works please share
Thanks in advance guys
I cannot believe a phone this 'old' is so hard to find a successful root for; with the amount of bloatware that comes with it - its crazy.
If anyone can help me find a root method that still works for Android 7.0 on the Samsung Galaxy S7 930A
I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT. Its bugging me I have been searching for 2 days now..
Until Samsung pulls their head out of their ass and unlocks the bootloader, we'll never see any further development for custom roms or root on the snapdragon version of the galaxy s7. Only other option is to get the international version (g930f) which has the unlocked bootloader and exynos processor.
I'm not sure that it is Samsung that requested phones with a locked bootloader. I believe it is the carriers that want a locked bootloader.
T-Mobile was the last carrier to issue phones with a locked bootloader.
So nobody with AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 has root?
Why so many forums that used to exist??
Willing to help...
It took a lot of digging but I was able to get my 930a successfully rooted and stable. I would be happy to assist (with what very little I know) and see if we can't figure it out. I used almost all links from XDA, if not all, but it did take a little time to put it all together. I had to flash the 930u firmware and then I had to play around with a few things. But I was successful and it does work and it is very stable. Let me know if I can help, I am going to totally unroot and reroot mine again so I will be going through the process all over anyways. Would love to be of some help, this is actually my first post on XDA so figured what better time to jump in. Take care
