Hi,
Recently I bought Coolpad R116. It run on default EUI system it was shipped with.
Everything seems fine, but after time is starts to turn on bluetooth by itself.
Sometimes it's on after screen unlock and gone few seconds after, sometimes it keeps being on - but I never turned it on myself.
It seems to be main battery eater for this device.. First time I kind a solved it by factory resetting, but it just returned.
As far as I remember location scanning is disabled (both wifi and bluetooth)
appreciate any suggestions on this

Hi,
I have a problem with the wifi on HTC HD:
When I try to launch WIFI after a soft reset it always run OK.
Afetr a sleep mode (ie the phone went to sleep mode after 30 secondes or if i put it in sleep mode after a single press on the power button), If i try to launch WIFI the system freeze almost 50 % of the time : sometimes i can launch wifi someteimes the system freezes.
I did a hard reset and didnt installed any new software: same problem.
I disabeled TouchFLO; same problem
Dose anybody have an idea that can help ?
Regards
Hi There,
same as you, it happens regularly that due to reconnection to wifi, the system freezes. I must take out the battery to restart the HD.
I can't reproduce your system freeze. Have you enabled the option to keep wifi alive while in stand-by mode? This can be done by HD Tweak (or Advanced Config).
For me it is disabled and it reconnects just fine after powering the device up again. Have you installed the HTC Hotfix(es) already? What Rom are you running?
Hi,
If I leave the WIFI on so no problem at all, when the system wake up after a sleep mode so the WIFI is OK, the problem occurs very often if I put OFF the WIFI before I go to sleep mode. If I leave the WIFI on so no problem.
Just a precision: when the problem happens after sleep mode sometimes it dosent freeze but the WIFI dosent go on, if I try many time to put wifi on it will end by freezing the system.
The hotfix is installed.
ROM version: 1.14.406.3(22273) FRE
somebody can help me with this wifi problem please ?

I would try to change or update the ROM to see if the
freezing goes away. If not, send it in to the service centre for diagnosis.
shame on HTC and shame on Expansys !
I've return back the HTC HD for diagnostics few days after I've received it because of the WIFI problem descrbed in the original post. Afetr 2 weeks I've received the phone with a notice"repaired under waranty", after quick test the problem still the same ! I've returened it back to Expansys-where I bought it- and I am stil waiting to be replaced !!! Imagine that: I've had the problem few days after I've bought the phone and I have never got to use it..now after 2 months I am still waiting for the phone..Expansys says it wa sent to HTC to be replaced..I've asked them to replace cause it is new, no answer from expansys...shame
I believe while I was having a different WIFI problem and came across this problem detailed somewhere on the HTC website... however I forget where.
Some googling and forum searching might do the trick!
Have you tried a different ROM perhaps?
Also maybe using HDTweak or AdvancedConfig you could change the wifi to always be on even when the phone is asleep; although this would completely drain the battery rather quickly it could be a useful stopgap until you find a solution!
Hello,
Few days ago I've found that my phone drained my battery. After a lot of experiments and rebooting I have found that my phone doesn't sleep. Problem with enabling of Bluetooth and disabling doesn't helped. I'm using default widget for enable/disable, and switch pro result the same. (Yes my first Bluetooth usage was happened few days ago). After rebooting problem disappear till enabling bluetooth again.
On the top of prevent sleeping list (accordingly spare parts) is android system.
So my question is:
Does somebody have met with the problem that just after enabling (disabling) Bluetooth phone never will go to sleep?
Please could somebody verify this issue? Or maybe you have some suggestions instead of hard reset?
Thanks.
my firmware is native updated Android 2.2.1
I've tried hard reset and it doesn't help, I have pure device just two installed application: android system info and spareparts for system monitoring. No one paired bluetooth device, just enable.... So looks like problem in HTC firmware but I'm wondered so many people using it and nobody have noticed that...
I have had this problem even from android 3. My xoom will randomly open to lock screen, and if I don't see it it will stay there and drain it's battery. Is there a way to make it close the screen again automatically, or even prevent it from opening? I have tried everything, shutting down wifi completely (for notifications) among others.
i have same issue
Do you have a bluetooth headset connected to your device. Mine would turn on by itself if I left and active bluetooth device attached. Once I started turning of the bluetooth antenta regularly this stopped happening for me.
To tell you the truth I do have my iphone connected to my xoom via bluetooth but the bluetooth feature is off at all times except for when I need it (for teathering purposes). I just checked again and it is off (since months that I opened it last time) both on mobile andxoom. I will delete the pairing though and hope for the best.
Any other suggestions?
when turning my wifi off it seems it goes into some weird loop of turning on and off constantly by itself, it doesn't seem to be trying to connect just flipping the wifi switch on and off none stop.
noticed it because i had a huge battery daring overnight and while trying to fix it i saw the switch going off and on all the time.
when turning it back on it seems to connect normally .
did a network setting rest but it did nothing ...
I'm guessing a factory rest will fix the problem but I'm hoping to avoid such a overkill solution :crying:
does anyone else had this problem and can help me fix it?
thanx!

original samsung rom.
just happened (i have the device for a a while everything was fine) its the android system that drains the battery in the battery status.
when i leave the wifi on it stops and works fine ...
Have you turned off ''Keep Wifi During Sleep''? I know this can drain battery.
It's not so easy to troubleshoot on an orginal none rooted phone.
You can try clearing dalvik and cache.
Turn it off and then on holding power and vol down button, then clear cach/dalvik and restart.
Try uninstall update beaming service for samsung then restart
If still persistent try uninstall update microsoft onedrive and skype then restart, just in case
I found it after factory reset (forgot internal data backup :crying and update all apps, this problem occuring after the last 3 updates (beaming, onedrive, & skype) which more suspect beaming service update make that problem
Your not alone
You're not the only one who suffer from this exact problem, on Friday or Saturday the same problem started occurring with my phone too, WiFi turns on and off in a loop and huge battery drain!
I saw an increase of 6% of battery drain per hour, so I ended up on 9% total drain every hour. :crying:
I have original Samsung Rom and phone worked prefect until now, no settings or apps installed before this happened either.
What rom version are you guys on?
I'm having the same issue. However, I'm on PhoenixX Rom. Major battery killer and has only just started happening within the past few days.
Since my phone has been unplugged, 3 hours ago, looking at BetterBatteryStats, It is showing com.google.android.gms as having quite a LOT of wakeups. 40 per hour (everything else is about 2). Don't know if this is normal as I don't remember it before the Wifi issue.
Looking into what the wake ups are caused from, Location and heartbeat were the major culprits. So i have turned of WIFI scanning when not on and also the body sensors for Google Play. We shall see.

See attachment.
Easy fix. Just disable Wi-Fi scanning.

its not a fix at all . it dosnt scan for wifi , just turning it on and off non stop.
like pressing the light switch agin and agin
I had this after installing "GoodLock" software from Samsung! Uninstalled and everything is ok
same here, just noticed I wasnt on Wifi and the switch is just flicking on and off by itself. Standard S7 with all the updates installed
Been struggling with the same for some days (4 - 5) I haven't been able to get exactly whats triggering this. I'm on stock rom with root. I've reinstalled firmware clean again and re downloaded my apps but it is still happening randomly. Some times after a few attempts to switch wifi on (even when it is toggling by itself) it manages to keep on. Sometimes restarting makes it work again. One thing I'm almost certain its that this usually happens after I turn wifi OFF and then try to turn it back on.
It's been crazy and the phone starts to overheat after a while off this on-off loop.
Any ideas?
its very wierd it started to all of us in the past few days-weeks . seems like samsung has a bug they need to hurry up and fix.
AT&T just pushed out the October Security update for the S7 family, I'm guessing something that came along with it is creating the problem.
mine did a software update last week and I've been away in airplane mode so it could have started then. I've just disabled scanning and that seems to have got round the issue and I'm now connected to WifI
I'm not sure whether it is a Samsung Issue or a Third party one... It is true that something recently affected all of us, but as far as I know, it could be a third party app that wasn't well developed for our phone.
I've noticed the same problem on my phone and it's also only started up in the last few days. On stock Sammy rom, unrooted. Will be monitoring this thread to see if the experts here can narrow down the culprit.
I had the same issue and I was able to stop the toggle by turning off the wifi scanning in Location - Improve Accuracy - WiFi scanning. It's a fix for now. I think it may be an app that may have been updates that is persistently looking for location updates.
I'm having the same problem outlined here:

Basically, Bluetooth will work fine for a while but my Fitbit will drop out, usually overnight, sometimes throughout the day. This is annoying because it receives notifications like a smart watch. The only solid way to get it to reconnect is to forget the device in Bluetooth settings, turn Bluetooth off and restart the phone. When it comes back up, I open the Fitbit app, it turns on Bluetooth and re-pairs automatically and works great until a few to several hours later whenever it drops off again.
Additional info: When I got this Fitbit, it required a firmware update that failed probably 2 dozen times in a row from my Moto G4. I paired it to an old Samsung phone and the update went through quick and flawlessly the first time.
Aside from that, I've had issues with random restarts. Less so since I've reset the device but they still happen occasionally. Seems to me like I'll wake up and sometimes my Bluetooth is off, an indication that the phone reset during the night. Perhaps my need to restart the phone for Bluetooth issues has mostly eliminated the crash & restart issue, I can't recall the last time I had that problem but it was pretty frustrating, almost every day before I did a factory wipe & reset.
Aside from this, the phone works great. Stable through hour-long calls, loading up many apps at once, it does everything I need. My question is this: Should I hold out for the Nougat update , void my warranty and go with LineageOS or send the phone in to Motorola?
Using the nightly build of LineageOS (March 28) and seeing the same issue with my garmin watch. It took me multiple attempts to install an update via bluetooth yesterday. I thought it was the watch because the sync log said that the watch was disconnecting. This morning, I caught my phone's bluetooth restarting, or what I think is restarting. Specifically, the bluetooth is turning off then immediately turning back on. This is enough to disconnect my watch, and I also think this is what is causing my bluetooth headphones to disconnect periodically. From what I can tell, the bluetooth restart is happening about every two hours. The headphones will reconnect (but I have to restart my music), but the watch will not. I thought that perhaps the bluetooth is turning off to save power. Thus, I disabled battery optimization last week for Bluetooth Exptensions, Bluetooth MIDI Service, and Bluetooth Share, but the bluetooth restart issue persists. Not sure if this is a hardware issue in the G4, or a software issue. I'm really hoping it is a software issue that will be resolved in the Nougat update.
--------------------
Updated to the latest nightly build (April 4), which should be Nougat (Android version 7.1.1). Still having problems with bluetooth. The event log shows this output at the time that my phone last dropped bluetooth:
am_proc_died( 1188): [0,2084, com.android.bluetooth]

Log then shows that the service scheduler restarts bluetooth and the process is started. This stop and restart lasts less than 1 second, but it's enough to disconnect my bluetooth devices. Any idea on how to continue troubleshooting why bluetooth is stopping?
Something that you can try, is to go into settings, go to location, tap the three dots, tap scanning, turn off Bluetooth scanning.
I have the same problem with LineageOS 16 Android Pie, I solved it by navigating into the "Settings" and search for "Bluetooth Scanning" then turn it off.
Its description is "Allow apps and services to scan for nearby devices at any time even when Bluetooth is off. This can be used, for example, to improve location-based features and services"
I'm not sure how that really helps with location-based features and services but since it's taking an issue with my Bluetooth, I did not hesitate to turn it off.
