volte only works on stock rom - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

i have tried most of the different oreo and nougat roms but my xt1687 drops out of lte when i am in call on anything except the stock rom. i backed up the efs from the latest stock rom and tried restoring it with no success. also i tried flashing the fsg.mbn from the stock rom and nothing. how can i flash the radio and modem from the stock rom or is there another solution?

Custom ROMs do not replace the radio firmware (NON-HLOS and fsg.mbn) and you are on the stock radio firmware... The issue isn't with the radio firmware, but with the ROM itself or a setting, or your carrier is rejecting a VoLTE call because the device signature is invalid (guessing here). I don't really have an answer, but just letting you know that ROMs do not replace the radio firmware.
I would suggest picking a ROM where others have noted that VoLTE works, and posting in that specific ROM thread for assistance.

A custom rom never contains a modem or bootloader. So no that does not apply.
It mean no any problems after flashing?
Some custom ROMs require an up-to-date modem and bootloader. If you flash a custom ROM, the imei may disappear or wifi/calls may not work if the ROM is too new for the phone's bootloader and modem.
Before installing a custom ROM on a phone, I make sure that the phone is working properly with the latest stock ROM.

He means it the other way around. He wants to use a kitkat rom on a lollipop bootloader and modem. That's shouldn't be a problem.
I see the OP asking 2 questions:
1) Can a KK ROM be flashed to a phone running an LP bootloader and modem. Generally, I would say yes but whether all functions work will depend on the KK ROM. Some custom KK ROMs I ran on my Nexus 5 required me to downgrade the bootloader and radio to KK versions.
2) Can a KK modem and bootloader be flashed over an existing LP modem and bootloader? I think it depends on the phone's installed bootloader.
Yes audit13 brother my quistion is no1. I have now albe95 astra v2 on UHOJ2 base modem and bl lollipop. And goes to goldfinger kk base.now confused what can I do?
Did not try on i9505 but it works on i9500. I think it will work but u should backup your EFS partition
I say try the KK ROM on the LP bootloader and modem. If it doesn't work, you'll either have to find another ROM or you'll have to try and flash a KK bootloader and modem over a LP bootloader and modem.

Flashing RR 5.8.0 - Modem Differences

So I'm flashing stock 5.0.1. After that CF Autoroot, TWRP etc. etc....
As I'd like to flash resurrection remix 5.8.0, the thread says this:
ROM Firmware Required: Lollipop supporting bootloader and modem / non-hlos
Now the stock rom says I'm on XXUHPK2 modem and bootloader, but It doesnt say if Its combined ora just non-hlos or gsm.
What are the modem differences? Shoueld I flash another modem or bootloader?
I just understood that non hlos is for lte... but dunno whats better for the RR rom.
I'm on GT-i9505
Thanx for help
As long as the phone is running the latest stock 5.01 ROM, the bootloader and modem should be fine to use with the custom ROM.
Stock ROM flashes everything you need.

issues with x727 carrier strength - flash modem or newer stock ROM then custom ROM?

I have an EUI 5.8.21s stock ROM zip, flashable with TWRP, from x727 (modded for dual sim x720, but can be modded back) I also have a modem for 19s. I hear the latter will fix my issues with my phone under custom ROMs, but am a bit nervous about modem flashing. My phone came with stock 18s and no OTA upgrade available.
Will the stock ROM also fix this, and also, will it relock the bootloader? If it relocks the bootloader, can I flash the 19s file that unlocks the bootloader without side-effects for custom ROMs or it not unlocking the bootloader?
I know this is a lot of questions, you don't have to answer all of them, just answer with the right solution for this problem.
I went ahead and flashed the modem... hope this solves my issues.
It didn't solve the issues. What now? Is the stock ROM I found here, mentioned above, bootloader-unlockable or will it trap me in it? I think I want to give it a try, but want to go to custom ROMs; perhaps afterwards if the modem/baseband on it help.
i had a similar (but not same) question like this.
You can try to flash CN stock rom and then reflash US modem. The US modem can be found in many threads.
BTW, i did not notice anybody post a modem file with a 'newer' version no.

[N910G][NOOB] Bootloader and Modem for build N910GDTU1COI1

Hi,
I'm currently having a problem with m N910G Note 4. The baseband version is Unknown. This happened after flashing Norma N7 V12 and different bootloaders and modems for Marshmallow (can't find the G1 BL recommended for the ROM). I had a backup for my Lollipop rooted stock ROM, except data. It has Modem and EFS backed up as well so I restored all.
However, I'm stuck with my phone freezing and rebooting (mainly due to baseband issue). I tried loading different bootloaders and modems available for N910G Lollipop but to no avail.
If anyone knows where I can get the COI1 BL and CP, that'd be great so I can still use my backed up ROM. Else, I might have to stick with upgrading to Marshmallow (since that's the only available free firmware on Sammobile). I'm avoiding upgrading the firmware though due to eMMC issues that mostly occured on Marshmallow.
Thanks,
Vin
Flashed RR 6.0.0 Android 8.1. ROM recognizes the bootloader and modem so no more rebooting. I guess the TouchWiz ROM has to match with the bootloader and modem; else it'd keep on rebooting. I'd have to find the bootloader and modem for Norma N7 though, so I hope someone could still reply here. Thanks a lot XDA peeps!

s8+ csc

Hi I've been trying to flash a new rom (from stock) rooted all fine etc but I get no mobile signal at all, I have flashed numerous csc files and still nothing, I am in the UK on ee
Any help please? Specifically trying to install the batman rom
Thanks
Batman ROM is a Nougat ROM, if your stock ROM was Oreo or Pie, of course you will not get any signal on older ROMs, cause your modem will not allow that on older Operating System.
The only way is to flash Nougat modem that's attached in Batman ROM's thread.
Which by default, will not be allowed by your bootloader.
Do you have any SIM PIN security?
No don't have any pin security
