One Plus 2 Bricked [SOLVED] - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all !
Yesterday I downloaded Lineage OS 15.1 for my One Plus 2 (A2003).
Before this I was using Resurrection Remix OS and wanted to upgrade.
So I wiped everything except Internal Storage using TWRP and tried flashing the ROM. However, it gave back an error stating
This package is for "OnePlus2" devices; this is .

And I was stuck in between an uninstalled ROM and wiped device. So I tried connecting my device to my PC via ADB, and got the following message:
USB Device not recognised. The device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.

I'm able to use ADB with my other devices, but my OP2 does not show up on connecting, both in Fastboot or ADB, neither on Linux nor on Windows.
After hours of trying, I decided to go for the UNBRICK HARD BRICK method and followed all the steps as stated in the forum. I used the QHUSB method and surprisingly my PC had detected the Port. After the 9th step, I had a custom recovery, but the device got stuck at Boot Logo, so I proceeded further.
Now, I've got stock recovery, wiped up system and the same USB error message stated above ^. I can't use ADB, fastboot because both of them are not showing any devices, neither on windows nor on ubuntu.
Please help !
Thanks in advance.
SOLUTION
The problem was with my wire, I used another OP Type C and everything works perfectly fine.

hmm, the mega unbrick guide worked for me. I'm surprised it isn't working for you.
I'd be really interested to hear your outcome, mine started giving me other issues after I got it back to a "working" state.

That fixes the connection issue. Can you tell me what did you do about the TWRP error ("This package is for "OnePlus2" devices; this is .")? I just got the same error when trying to update from a previous (November) Lineage unofficial rom to the latest build. I didn't change TWRP version, so I don't know why doesn't it recognize my phone correctly now...
EDIT: Other sources I just found suggest I may actually need to update TWRP after all, so I'll try that tomorrow.
UPDATE if anyone googles this as I did: indeed, updating TWRP fixed the problem. (though I only updated from 3.1.1.0 to 3.2.1.0)

[Q] Tmobile D801 will not boot FIXED

Just switched over to Tmobile from Sprint and before even signing into google i went ahead and tried to root my phone. Rooting was a success. Used Flashify to flash twrp recovery. Downloaded rooted stock D80110G rom and began debloating it (like I did with the Sprint version) and then booted to recovery, wiped twice, flashed and reboot. Well, now it will just keep rebooting back to recovery and thats it!
I still have access to download mode
still have access to custom recovery
Did not do a nand backup unfortunately
cant mount in twrp because computer no longer recognizes phone!
shows up under unknown devices as LG D801
Tried the stock recovery using LG Flash tool posted in generals but ran into the "can not update because of your device policy" or something like that. Reinstalled and tried it again many times, even switching languages and countries (the last step)
Tried using the ubuntu method posted by partager.info but even ubuntu does not recognize the device. Matter of fact nothing even happens when i plug the phone in.
Tried reinstalling drivers, tried on 2 different laptops (one windows 8.1, one windows 7, and an ubuntu usb boot) and my desktop computer (windows 8.1) and am just unable to mount using twrp because none of them recognizes it!
tried using the adb sideload but twrp just stays trying to load adb sideload forever and adb terminal cant even find the connected usb device.
Tried factory reset but that just takes me to twrp.
I've redownloaded the rooted stock rom and left everything as is. I'm assuming I just need to get it onto the phone somehow so I can flash it.
I have an otg cable but not quite sure how to work it wit twrp or if that's even an option; I've just purchased it.
I feel like I've exhausted my options. Anything else I can try?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Should've just used Titanium to debloat instead of trying to do a fresh install! I know I know
Figured it out! not sure how to delete this thread now

Hey sorry, I haven't been on the site for a couple days.
I used the flashtool to go back to stock. Had to enter download mode and work from there. The big issue I was having was a driver issue. Uninstalled every driver related to android and then reinstalled after a restart and that did the trick. For some reason android phones are giving me a lot of driver issues on windows 8.1
follow these steps here but make sure you read a chunk of the thread as the steps in the main post are not complete

Unusable A2017G

So i have this A2017G owned by a cousin of mine. He had never tempered with anything except updating OTAs from the settings app. Meaning Stock everything and BL locked. Now, all of a sudden his device lags a lot (after the N-B06 update). When booting the device the boot animation lags like crazy. And it almost never gets past the boot animation (always restarts at Axon 7). The times it does reach past the boot screen, the device hangs after a minute or so and restarts.
Things that i have tried:
# Factory resetting through stock recovery.
# Downloading update.zips from ZTE and trying SD Card update trough stock recovery. Which always fails saying Signature verification failed.
# Booted to factory test mode and tried adb devices on cmd. Nothing comes up as there is no new device on the device manager. Also no sound.
# Booted to EDL mode and flashed N-B06 from this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-ztea2017v2-0-0b08-t3658636
Nothing helped. Same old lags. And of course, the device is unusable.
What to do? Suggestions?

Get a new phone. Unfortunately I think it's some hardware that is broken. But in case it's not try to flash b05 instead?
I don't see anything else you could do since adb doesn't seems to work. I'd just RMA it with the warranty still being in effect. And if it was purchased trough amazon you'll probably just get a new one ! (that's what happened to me last time).

Did you try downgrading through EDL? I'll post the link to MM B10 for you to install through EDL, see if that helps. I seriously doubt that it's a hardware issue since it would not even boot if that was the case (take the Nexus 6P and 5X as an example: big cores busted and the phones wouldn't get past the boot logo).
Don't unlock the bootloader if you can't fix it, it'd make matters worse if LOS-based ROMs didn't work.
Edit: Here are a couple of links for B10 from 4pda. should be the same file:

I have tried this EDL package as well. Most of the time it says can not found programmer file. Only once it said can not find hello packet, reset status. That also ended up in error.
The N-B06 EDL package flashes fine. But the problem still persists.
I have also tried replacing N-B06 recovery.img with TWRP recovery.img and flashed it. But that just bricks the recovery.
Currently the 2 EDL packages i know are these two. N-B06 and MM-B10 for the G. The N one works fine while the MM one doesn't. Do u have any other EDL packages?
I too think it's a software problem since he has never dropped the phone and only used it for 2 months.

I got that package from 4pda. if you go to the 4th category brick repair manual, then enter the link that says "Qualcomm drivers and MiFlash" it will redirect you to 4pda. no need to translate: just open the spoilers (I think it's the 2nd) and you'll find all of the images. You obviously have to use the A2017G ones. there's B10, i think B11, B05, B06 and maybe another N package too
The thing is that it'd be best if you could downgrade to Marshmallow, as that would probably do some other stuff that N packages don't do.
Do you have an external SD card plugged in? Try to use without external sd, i already had lags because of a defective sd card (that couldnt be rescued nor reformatted )

I was gonna suggest that, but a read-only SD card wouldn't provoke that. I had one that got read-only after using it as swap for a long time, and you would only notice in twrp (booted in ~2 minutes). If he was able to try to install a system update through the recovery, he was able to write to the SD card --> it's not dead

It lags the same. Regardless a sd card is inserted or not.

Thank you for mentioning there is EDL packages in 4pda. I just tried the packages that are available for the G variant on 4pda. But the problem still persists.
I was thinking that too. Trying to downgrade through EDL. But so far i've found only one MM so far, B10. But that ends up in error during flashing process.
Is there any way to install TWRP through EDL without unlocking bootloader? Also, is there any way to unlock BL without adb? If i could at least unlock the BL, i could flash twrp through EDL. There are EDL packages available for flashing TWRP.
Thanks.

Mabey but I think as in my case that something has happened with the hardware. I think it is a hardware's fault that has come up to the surface when he updated the phone like it did 2 me. But hey, it's just my theory.

The problem is axon 7 is not available in our country. If he has to rma it then he has to send it to a relative in Sweden. Then the relative can do that for him. That's why he asked me to do what i can to revive the phone. RMA is the last resort for him.
Now, i guess i will give up and tell him i did everything i could.
Anyways, thank you all for helping.

Moto E4 sperry XT1766 not booting up after a restore via TWRP

Long story short, my phone only displays the n/a screen and won't boot up.
I got the phone from Sprint, and it is the Qualcomm version. (The box says that anyway.) I wanted to root the device, so I unlocked the bootloader and attempted to flash SuperSU. This didn't work, as the app didn't show after the flash. I then tried to use Magisk, but I received Error 1 (boot image patched by other programs). To fix this issue, I downloaded a similar stock ROM and tried to install that. I ended up just wiping all the data on the phone, including the OS. Luckily I did make a nandroid backup.
The phone currently has no OS, due to me wiping all my data on it. I made a backup of when it did work (said earlier), with all partitions excluding Data. I have restored it, but it doesn't boot up. TWRP says nothing about there being no OS on the phone. I can't find a stock ROM of this particular phone, but there are some close ones. (sperry XT1768 I believe.) If anyone could help me restore my phone or possibly provide me the stock ROM I would be beyond grateful. I would also be also be okay with posting any logs or things you need.
Thanks much!

This is the Boost XT1766 firmware :

I did a dumb and was rewarded
So, I ended up flashing the sperry XT1768 ROM that I had downloaded. Keep in mind I already lacked an OS, so I had nothing to lose.
PLEASE NEVER FLASH A ROM THAT DOESN'T BELONG TO YOUR DEVICE. THIS COULD CAUSE YOUR PHONE TO BE BRICKED.
Against the above statement, I literally had nothing to lose. I got my phone to boot up, and it has all of its functionality. Thank you for posting the correct software amarc78, I'll have to flash the correct ROM at a later time.
Moral of the story, please know what you are doing before you do something dumb. Use proper forums (such as the one you are on...) to do such tasks as rooting your phone.

Hmmmm, sounds intriguing. I soft bricked my xt1766 a few days ago and have found multiple fixes, but nothing that sticks. That above firmware? Took me two days to realize I needed RSD Lite to flash it. What was that RSD Lite? You play funny with Windows 10, no worries, I'll create my own batch file to manually flash this firmware.........WHAT!!!!!!! Why is there a multi colored ring saying "erasing" at the bottom and rebooting every 30 seconds?????? So after further research and "multiple error 7s" as well as "cant mount cache/data" errors, I came to another fix, lo and behold, im in a TWRP bootloop. Long story short, FML!!!!! Im glad you found a fix. Happy flashing.

For the Twrp loop, try selecting reboot bootloader, then in bootloader, select start. That should get you into system.
There is a fix for that, I'll find the link. Some twrp build aren't wiping something properly and causes a recovery loop after formatting data.

You're just all over the place, kudos to your dedication.
Basically in trying to fix the bad key/erasing boot loop I flashed twrp and tried to format data/unencrpyt which in turn throws errors which require manually reformatting /data until errors are gone and then formatting/unencrypting again which upon rebooting turns into twrp loop. Then tried to flash no-verity, the twrp loop persists.

Used to have a couple of these phones .
If you're stuck in a TWRP loop
The quick workaround is to reboot to bootloader, then proceed from there to Start. However, you'll need to do this *every* time until the BCB is cleared.
To clear the BCB manually, issue this command in TWRP terminal:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc bs=1M
have you tried formatting data, then flashing.magisk?

HardBricked OP5, plz help! :(

Hi, guys.
Today, my OP5 decided to troll me. I was using normally him, when suddenly it started to lags pretty bad. I restarted and he continued to lags and freeze. I made a wipe cache via stock recovery (i didnt made any change at all in it, no unlocked bootloader, no root). That's when my nightmare begins. It begins to bootloop. Sometimes i was able to start the boot animation, but then it just restarts to the beginning. I tried a lot of tips, wiping cache, system, etc. Then, i left it charging. When i tried to turn on again, it worked like nothing ever happened to him. I made a backup of my personal data fast, scared to him suddenly restart again. After that, i decided to made a Factory Reset, clean up everything. When i did it, he started the lag and freezes again. I was at lost. That's was when i decided to use the official unbrick tool, to make the cleanest OP5 ever possible. I grabbed the archives from this link and followed this tutorial. When i was executing the programa, in the userdate.img, he showed a error. When i saw it, i just stopped and closed the program. Now, my OP5 is hardbricked. The only sign of life that i get from him is when i connect him at the PC. I can identify it as qualcoom 9008, but when i try to run the program, he just fail and show me error 258.
Plz, i need some orientations. I have been read things for about 10 hours and didnt found a solution. I live abroad for any oneplus tech center, and i believe, for the other posts that i read, that online tech support wouldn't help me a lot. I really don't like to make this kind of post but i am kind of desesperate. I dont have money to afford another phone
Again, sry to disturb you all. Sry if i broke some rule of the forum too. And sry for my bad english, i hope that i was able to communicate right.
EDIT: I just tried in another computer. Same error appears. :'(
Hummm why follow a Unbrick Topic with tools for ...3T ?
Maybe you have a encryption problem, all your Tools/Topic are so old for the actual versions (Oreo 8.X OOS / 8.1 OOS)
I advise to you (in the first time), to flash this TWRP (using fastboot, very simple) just follow this guide : here
If you can flash TWRP, your phone is not bricked, you will boot in TWRP:
- Format Data > tape "yes" > Reboot in TWRP
- Copy/Past xXx 10.0 ROM to test, install and xXx Rom will fix/install for you the best OOS Custom ROM for your OP5 with a great Aroma Installer.
If TWRP with this rom work perfectly, you wil able to restore a official stock OOS for sure, just flash original/stock recovery (fastboot), wipe all data/partitions, install your OOS rom and it's fine
I think @cidsantiago says they bootloader isn't unlocked.
He needs to know that unlock the bootloader implies lost all /sdcard data and also installed apps and settings) before start the TWRP install process...

Maybe you have a encryption problem, all your Tools/Topic are so old for the actual versions (Oreo 8.X OOS / 8.1 OOS)
I advise to you (in the first time), to flash this TWRP (using fastboot, very simple) just follow this guide : here

I used the tools for 5. Just the procedure that i get from this topic. :T I am gonna try the method that you gave me now brb.
EDIT: Just tried this. My cellphone cant be recognized in fastboot devices. As a said, i am not getting any response for him, just when i plug it in the PC. So i wasn't able to unlock bootload or anything like that. I tried just to plug it and see if fastboot was able to identifying it, but it wasn't.

Wipe your device data from the stock recovery.
You loss the settings and downloaded apps but not requires to unlock the bootloader.

I can't access recovery anymore, as i said. The only sign of life that i get is when i connect it in the PC.
I guess i have to do something to restore the basics partitions of my cellphone. Like recovery, boot, etc. But i just have the official tool to do that. There is another way? Like transfering directly by the COM port?
Have you tried following this guide? https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/guide-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3761706

I had the same exact problem with my old One plus One. Spent like 4 days trying to unbrick it. That msm tool did the fix for me. Also, in that link to the guide you provided, doesn't it flash the Chinese version of the OS? If that's the case, I don't think it was a good idea to do so lol

In one of the links, it had the OOS and the HOS. I tried to use the msm tool in one of them, but it didnt worked I'm gonna try the archives in this link that you gave me. It may work brb with updates.
Don't worry though, it happens to plenty of people. It happened to me as well, and everyone eventually fixes it. It is unlikely that it is a hardware problem, so just following the correct steps should get it working. Keep trying stuff out, it's very good that your computer recognizes it as a qualcomm port, as far as I know that's all you need to flash the necessary things in order for it to boot.
I am getting the same error 258 in this post. :T I posted there to see if the OP can help me. But thx for your help @Mash1ro

Thx for your support! I will continue to try stuff

2 of the people had the same error as you, and one of them solved the issue by changing the USB port.

But don't use the same files and all that stuff, since that's for the 3T. Try to pick out the things that might help but use the files for the OnePlus 5 only
After try the unbrick procedure in 3 different PCs, using about 10 different USB ports, i still getting the same error in the same step. When downloading cache.img, he stuck in about mid bar, and shows me the warning: SendProgramCommand Failed, Error: 258". Besides that, he turns on the green led and stop being recognize by the PC. Then i have to hold power and turn off the green led. :T Maybe i can use a linux to access the partitions?

yeah... But it is kind of weird. He was running smoothly, until suddenly started lag and freeze. He didn't fall or any of that... I think is just a defective phone. Doesn't find another explanation to that.
I think your best option is to RMA the device through OnePlus. Since you haven't rooted it or anything, they should repair it for you.

[Bricked/Help] Just another moron f*d up

Tl;dr: I(dumbass) bricked my phone to the point, where I only can get the bootloader. No fastboot mode, no recovery, no boot.
How: I rooted my phone to a pretty good working state of stock OS+Magisk, right after I got it (Android 10). Later after a couple systemupdates and the patch to A11 and even more updates I thought, it would be time to patch magisk again, or revert to unroot, so I tried patching magisk, but somehow my phone got a lot of bugs, like no sound and very long boot times.
Then I tried reverting back by adding a stock boot image and stuff and a lot of things went unlike any tutorial said and now I'm stuck on beforementioned phonestate.
My PC(Asus Notebook) with installed Qualcomm-Drivers and Oneplus-drivers only recognizes the phone when I try to connect it via EDL-mode (vol-up+down+connect USB) but only for like 10 sec. Then bootloader starts up annd connection is lost.
What would be the most logical approach? How do I start?
And yes, I read a lot of posts trying to fix it myself, but I can only find so much.
This will work. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...l-to-restore-your-device-to-oxygenos.4084953/

Are you using the correct cable?
Thread can be closed.
I followed the beforementioned link already but on my homepc I had some issues with the tool and/or drivers, I think.
Now on my notebook Ijust wasn't quick enough, so the phone restartet into bootloader after a couple seconds.
After a couple tries it worked.
Whew, glad that worked out. I bricked my Optimus M and this guy Asdullah took time out of his day to video chat with me and help me unbrick my phone. Some folks in this community are ****ing awesome!
