Your phone will be wiped when you unlock the bootloader.

Any back up services ? like iOS we can take back up everything including wallpaper (like a image). Anything on Android take back up then unlock bootloader then restore everything. is it possible?

Hey guys,
so im having some problems with my phone, for some reason every time it comes off the charger, the phone will not ring when i get calls even though it is NOT on silent mode and none of the settings have been changed...
so... gonna need to try a factory reset, but i want to keep all my apps to reinstall, how do i do this efficiently and effectively?
also i bought an unlock code and unlocked my phone... does a factory reset do anything to the unlock?
thanks!
for back up of apps and settings there's MyBackup pro.
can't help on whether resetting will retain unlock or not.

Is there any way to secure android like ios7. In case if i loose my phone then no one can use it. Is it true a hard reset will remove my pattern or password? My phone is non rooted. Can someone install custom recovery too?

There is not fool poof way to prevent this. Even on IOS7 the security can be gotten around. Best advice is to make sure you are backing up your files.
Google does have a remote wipe option built into the Android OS. That is your best bet.
There is no full proof way to make render unusable, but you can call up your carrier and ask them to blacklist the IMEI so they can't use sim cards with it anymore.
You could however, protect your data. Do this by: encrypt your device, stock recovery, disable USB debugging, lock the bootloader. At least with this, if the device is stolen, if they don't know how to flash factory image, they'll need to enter the encrypted password to boot into the phone and can't copy over your datas.
You should also look up the app Cerberus, which with root can survive through factory reset (as long as they don't overwrite or format the "system" partition).
I am already unlocked and rooted, but I would like to relock the bootloader assuming that I can unlock it for future updates without losing data. The Nexus 5 had a boot locker app in the App Store which allowed this, but I do not find an option for the 6 P. I'm thinking it may not be possible but thought I would ask. Thank you in advance

No, you can't unlock the bootloader without wiping the device, it's a security feature. I'd advise keeping the bootloader unlocked anyway, if you somehow end up in a boot loop and need to flash the factory images to get the phone booting again you'll be forced to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe the device and you'll have no way to back up your data first. This may seem like an unlikely scenario but it happens more than you'd realise, sometimes randomly, sometimes because an OTA failed for whatever reason. Sure, you don't have the extra security of a locked bootloader but if you actually take care of your device this is a non-issue.

Only thing I can think of is waiting for a hack based root for mm or n and using that to temporarily gain root. Otherwise, just take a bunch of screenshots of prior chats then live with not being able to scroll up and immediately view them.

I don't know specifically about Kik, but you might explore Helium backup. In some situations it can back up apps and app data without root. (By activating the backup using a physical connection to your desktop computer.). Good luck!
The appa should be backed up if you turn that feature on in your Google settings.
You can back up most data with ADB.
Nobody is investing time in root without an unlocked bootloader.
It just doesn't make sense.
Don't lock the bootloader. You can get stuck in an infinite bootloop. If you want to get OTA updates download official firmware for your phone, flash AP, CP, BL and for CSC use HOME file. If you use HOME you won't lose the data, you will lose root but you can get OTA updates!
Hi, I'm trying to get my phone back. I lost my phones password that is used to unlock the phone.

No you won't need a pin in twrp if you have not encrypted the device..no you won't need pin to boot, but frp might get you..not sure how that works, I also feel like there are files you can delete through twrp to remove lock code, someone else will have to confirm this though, just something I heard
thanks but its not a concern now. I was on latest official ota update, flashed twrp but cant get lineage, or any custom rom to fully boot. It just gets to the logo screen and wont go any further. I have not used my moto a while.

FRP is disabled on unlocked bootloader.
PIN can be deleted with twrp's file manager.
LOS - you flashed wrong build. You need custom rom for N Modem. LOS by Hashbang works on N modem.

Android has Factory Reset Protection. You'll need your Gmail password to unlock it even with a factory reset.

Did you set up a samsung account? In that case, just go to https://findmymobile.samsung.com/, sign in using your samsung account and then do the unlock option, it removes all locks and biometrics you have so you can get access and set new ones.
I tried doing that but get === Can't unlock your phone. Remote unlock is off.
Can i use ODIN to unlock the phone but keep data intact using HOME CSC

The password is part of the data. If you didn't bother setting up the remote unlock with Samsung, or Google, your screwed. The only way to remove the lock is to factory reset. Even then you will need the password to the Google acct.

You have to install twrp, then do backup of data partition to the sd card, transfer it to the pc then extract it.
