I've noticed when switching between various nougat ROMs that my wifi passwords are not getting backed up and/or restored. When using ROMs I always use the latest Beans GAPPs. I have Backup & reset enabled in Settings. Is there anyway to force my WiFi passwords to sync?

Hmm, I backuped them frequently on Android 10 OP7 OxygenOS...
I was able to theoretically backup.
The restoration process finished ok but with no results. None of the networks came back to life after reboot.

Hi,
I noticed that titanum backup cause gps to stop working !! everytime I restore my full system backup gps doesn't work after restoration ! The only solution is to flash stock rom to get gps working again!! Checked different backups and all same once I restore backup gps stops working !! Anybody face same problem ???
Restoring the system data, particularly between ROMs, is iffy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Just don't do it, it's easier.
Restore only user apps and I'll bet you will be fine. I just stopped using the system backup stuff. When it works, it's nice, but when it doesn't, you get all sorts of weird stability issues. The only stuff I really lose are things like wifi and bluetooth passwords and selected ringtones. Nothing I can't reset simply. It helps that I use ADW launcher, so when I restore that I get my desktops and such back.

I have never had this issue and I swear by Titanium Backup. Hands down the most used app on my phone. But yes if you are doing a full restore w/system data, there could be chances of this happening. I usually do a full restore w/system data and if I run into problems. I wipe and just restore user apps.
OK, so I installed the OTA ICS, and I'm having the WiFi problem: the tablet resets itself constantly while trying to connect to the network. A number of users reported that the only known fix at this time seems to be factory reset. No big deal, except that I didn't have the Google backup enabled before the upgrade, so I'd lose all my app data.
Now, I've been thinking: if there was a way to downgrade to 3.2(.1), re-establish Internet connection, enable Google backup, then re-install ICS, I wouldn't have a problem doing the factory reset. Obviously, this would make sense only if the "downgrade" preserved my data, otherwise why bother.
From what I've read, going from 3.2.1 to ICS manually seems to work like that, so maybe there's some hope for me?
Well if you have root, you can use either ROM Toolbox or Titanium Backup and backup all your apps and data then do a factory reset.

I do not have root, I'm running OTA ICS. To be honest, the whole rooting/unrooting process isn't entirely clear to me. I was hoping that there was another way to solve my problem.
I'm thinking about finally moving to 4.3 using a custom ROM (haven't decided which one yet). I have Titanium Backup Pro and plan to restore all my apps and settings after the upgrade. Is this process likely to end in a stable system? I don't have the time and patience to go through installing and configuring everything again, so if it's not a dependable process I might as well wait for the OTA update (and deal with Knox later...)
Thanks!
Don't worry, this is what I did all is fine.
Before anything, make a backup of your internal SD (just in case), EFS backup and all apps with Titanium. Then in Phils recovery select option to erase everything for new ROM flashing. I also did manual wipe of cache & dalvik just in case. Don't worry, your internal card won't be touched, but always better safe than sorry. Then flash MJ5 kernel, and finaly flash your chosen ROM. Then you can restore apps from titanium. I had like 2 apps that didn't work at all after restore, probably incompatible with 4.3. The system is stable 100%. Never had a reboot.
Thank you Dalanik. This is very encouraging to know.

Did you try it? How did it go?
I had faced a lot of issues when I did this recently. My contacts and message apps started to crash. Could have been OS problem no idea, but I was losing all my messages and my contacts. Ended up using super backup and import/export feature. Then on TB i restored only the apps and not the settings or system data. Now its perfectly stable, no crashes whatsoever
If you erase phone completely for flashing, contacts will be restored automaticaly from google contacts, but I'm afraid SMSes won't. That's another thing worth backing up. I used SMS BAckup and Restore, works perfectly, although you can also use Titanium as well.
Hi guys, my Titanium Backup 6.2.0.3 has backed up 80 apps on android KitKat. Everything was allright back then, all backups were verified. So i tried Lollipop yesterday, and i tried to restore those apps. Nope, it just hang. TB was allright, i tried to change everything in settings, every mode etc. but it just didnt work. Nothing. So i flashed SuperSU 2.40, as some people talked about it on the forum (i had Ressurection Remix, last version). Nothing. I changed my ROM, now i have Vanir. TB restores DATA, but just data. It can not restore any app, even without the data. The android installer method works (user installation of apk + TB restore of data) but doing that to 80 apps? Seriously?
I solved it, I wrote a How-To here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/how-to-restore-kitkat-apps-titanium-t3005385
So i verified those backup in Lollipop. It says 162 errors. In 80 backups theres 162 errors. I did not do anything with the backups. What's the problem? Why is it corrupted? I don't get it.
So i went back to KitKat and guess what? All backups are confirmed as allright, i can restore them and everything.
I found a solution to this.
Which is?

batch restore
Some apps are not compatible with Lollipop, so when you do a batch restore using TB, take note of apps that breaks the batch restore process and exclude them in the next batch restore attempt. Or else it will keep breaking the restore process. I have used TB on Lollipop successfully.
Thank you very much.

That was not the problem. On the ROM's thread more people complained about the problem, some people even suggested using Helium instead. However, I found a solution that restored ALL apps without any problem from the backups created by Titanium Backup.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3005385
No need to do all that. The problem is with Lollipop denying permissions from apps to modify folders and files. Just enter SuperSu and in Settings, under Security, find "Mount namespace separation" and untick it. Then restart your phone and Titanium Backup should be able to back up and restore again.
I am 100% stock, did the update earlier and I now can't get any data (2g, 3g or 4g) wifi is fine but I just can't get any data.
I had data turned off during upgrade and after upgrade I noted it was turned on again, not sure what to do now.
Update, not only was my SMS history deleted by the update, my APN settings were also deleted, inputting them again sorted my data.
I also lost all my SMS messages ...

Thank goodness for SMS backup and restore.
Did you use any 3rd party app for sms backup and restore? I lost my messages too. The only backup I have is 6 months old.
After update to 8.1, Jio Sim is not working on both the slots. Messages wiped out. In Android version it is showing a"prerelease".
Tell me something such that my Jio Sim starts functioning.
I lost my SMS messages and Developer options got disabled for some reason. Gcam is working fine and Bluetooth connection is working fine again.

I just updated to 8.1.0 and I lost nothing.
Also you might wanna change your title from "lost data" to "lost mobile connectivity".
I also lost all my msgs after 8.1 update. Is there any option or way to restore my recent msgs. I had also taken backup long time ago.

Yes lucky for me I was using SMS backup and restore and my last auto backup was a week ago.
Did Xiaomi pull the Trigger? No update for me.
I can't not help you. Just can say I updated yesterday and I'm not experimenting any issue. However you may change the post tittle. My updated was as follows:
Previous:
Set magisk core mode -> Uninstall xposed SDK26 module -> Restore boot.img
Update:
Update -> Patch boot.img with magisk -> Reboot -> Everything fine
After update:
Enable magisk -> Reboot -> Bootloop -> Boot into TWRP and flash magisk uninstaller -> Reboot -> Everything fine -> Boot into TWRP and flash magisk -> Reboot -> Everything fine -> Install xposed SDK27 module and unified hosts adblock -> Reboot -> Everything fine till now
Goods founds after update to 8.1:
Camera lag using magisk solved -> Fixing module not needed anymore
GCam working without enabler module -> Module not needed anymore
Swipe FPS for notifications come back -> Find under settings, gestures
Native dark theme -> Substratum not needed anymore
Also found update is not available for everyone. My mothers one full stock system is not receiving. I attached images with my setup.
Hope my info is useful for someone.

My last SMS backup is of Oct 2017 when I changed over to Mi A1. What are my options to recover these messages, if at all?! Thanks

Don't think you have much of an option.
The only thing you could check is to see if google is backing up your sms's
See here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/help/google-photos-backup-off-t3810065
Some A1's are backing up as part of Google's backup..... but....... you can't manually restore the backup, the only way would be to reset the phone and let it pull the SMS's down as part of the setup. Or maybe if you have a spare phone you could restore it with the A1's google backup, then use SMS Backup & Restore app to make a backup, then push the backup to the A1 (long winded but would work).
If your phone is backing up SMS's you would also need to check when the last backup was, if it has backed up since the update your backup might be replaced with what is on your phone..... ie nothing.
