Hi all. I bought a tab s2 for my step-dad this past Christmas and it keep rebooting once reach like 15-20% battery. One point, it got stuck on Samsung logo. I had to hard reset. I ended up exchanging that tablet with Amazon. Now the exchange tablet is doing the exact same thing. What are the odds of this happening again? Do these suffer from random reboots? I don't want to exchange again and it happens for a third time.
The tablet went to 0% charge. And it didn't turn on since then. It's currently on Samsung logo. I have older samsung tablets. And this never happens.

I've been using my SM-T715 for the last 1.5 years and can't remember a single reboot irrespective of battery level.
For others to help, consider sharing your model number and firmware being used.

I don't think the board is the problem, more likely the battery is the culprit.

Wth is going on with this tablet. I finally got it replaced by Samsung. New one is doing the exact same thing. Tablet is been used lightly. The tablet died to 0%. Now it doesn't want to turn on again. Crap is annoying.
Going to restore and install one app at a time and see if maybe it's an app that causing it. It has to be.
I have the same issue with S2 9.7". It randomly reboots with more chance the lower the battery is. Mostly zero chance above 50% then with around under 30% it happens way more often, especially when you install/update apps. So I guess the entire Tab S2 line has a battery issue, maybe a too low voltage over time, resulting in CPU/flash memory becoming instable of too low voltage. Mine was actually just 2 weeks old after showing the issue. Instead of swapping the battery, the repair service mostly will just swap the motherboard, which will not solve this issue.
Thought I had a fix - but I just got a reboot
Hey everyone. Just wanted to tell you i got the exact same problem in my T713. It's most certainly a spike on battery usage and the inability of the battery to keep up due to degradation, as this problem presents when I'm trying to do intensive tasks like watching videos on youtube or entering many apps in a short timespan.
My personal fix was to underclock the CPU maximum frequency using smartpack from 1804Mhz down to 1612Mhz. Obviously you need to root your device for this fix. Once i did this the rate of random reboots diminished substantially while minimally impacting performance. I know its not a perfect solution, but if you use your tablets just lightly, this might certainly work. Changing the CPU governor to some conservative mode might also do.
Hope this helps everyone.

Seems to work for me too on my T719. For the first time in ages I was able to use my tablet until it shut down itself because the battery was too low, usually it started rebooting at 35-40% of battery.
Thank you.

I just installed SmartPack-Kernel Manager (ROOT) from the playstore. Open the app and click the hamburger on the top left. Go to CPU and change the Maximum Frequency. Swipe over the Apply on boot.
I turned mine down to 1382 and I can make it to about 25% before it starts to reboot. We will see if that is good enough for the kids.
Thanks for sharing, will try this too!
I have had the tab sent back under waranty but the problem returned.
At first manifesting itself using a boating navigation (navionics) but this morning opening the play store also rebooted.
After recharging when making a backup AND trying above solution at 40% battery I could at least start navionics, which was hard before.
Edit:
Rebooted below 23%, changed cpu settings but forgot to reboot to apply.
Now at 11% and navigation still working.
Edit2:
For the first time in I think over a year I have been able to use the tablet for hours on end!

Hi
This morning 26th on my note I had an OTA notification. Since I had no Wifi, I cancelled it. Now, when I do a manual check, it says 'no updates available'. I already have 4.04 (XXLRG) from an update a couple of weeks ago so it wasn't that.
Any idea what it might have been?
Hoping for some Jelly Bean soon since I like it on my N7.

Omg. Seriously hoping this is foreshadowing the release of jellybean for the note...

Installing that much (really, any!) crapware along with updates is not cool...
But give me Jelly Bean quickly and I'll forgive you, Samsung.
So. Anyone know if this update fixed the battery problem many have? And fixed the issue of bricking the phone when hard reset?

I got this update yesterday. However I can't find the apps mantioned here. It only said "Improved performance". I don't know what they mean. I have had the problems with the battery. I had to either pull the battery for a minute or two, or I had to switch on power saving mode right after charging and leave it on for some minutes before turning off powersaving. I had to do this every time I charged the phone, or else it would not go into deep sleep. It would stay on 200MHz, and drain the battery in a matter of hours.
However, this morning I saw (using CPU Spy) that the phone had charged all night using 200MHz (this might be normal. I don't know this). I tryed to just pull the charger, without doing the steps mentioned above. And i see now, a couple of hours later, that the phone has gone into deep sleep since I pulled the charger.
It might be too early to draw conclutions on this, but it looks promising so far.
I have found no info about the update yesterday. I hope its possible to hard reset the phone without bricking it now, but I don't know.
I will keep monitoring the phone, and let you know.

IIRC the phone doesn't charge during deep sleep, so clocked at 200 while charging should be normal.

I explained badly I think. I have used the CPU Spy for some time now, and i have seen that the cpu use 200MHz when it charging. Good to know this is normal. The big difference this morning was that when I took the phone off the charger, it went into deep sleep. It hasn't done that for a long time. Before the update, it went on using 200MHz after charging, when it was supposed to go into deep sleep. The only thing I could do to get it into deep sleep, was to pull the battery og use battery saver for a few mins.
I just hope they have fixed the brick problem when doing a hard reset too!

Yehh. I asked customer support what the update was, and if they fixed the battery problem and brick problem. They answered that I had to hard reset to fix the battery problem and the update was "improved performance". So I guess I either have to live with a bad battery or bricked phone hehe. Kinda hopeless imo. Anyways, the battery still works good after update :good:
Help people, I have the nexus 4 for over 3 weeks and great but a few days ago when it was nearly full battery (around 80% or so) suddenly shutted down and I couldn't turn it back on until after 1 min or so plugging in. I did not care about it the first time ... But today, after having it charging about 2 or 3 hours I disconnected the cable to use the phone and the battery dropped from 90%+ to 8%, so I connected the cable and put it back to 100%, used it for 1 hour and it suddenly dropped back to 2% from 80% and then shutted down instantly.
Here are some screens.
Help please, and yes I have used the search function, but didn't find the solution on other posts.

I wish I could be more help but I had the exact same issue. I could not figure out what was wrong with it but I had previously broken the screen and sent my N4 back to LG for repair. Since it was still under limited warrenty from that repair I sent it back to them again. They said they replaced the charger connector. I got it back and it seems to work fine now.
My issue started after I updated to 4.2.2 I believe. I don't know the root of it but my advice would be to do what you said and call Google or LG.

Similar issue here - I've been using the same apps since I first installed them after N4 purchase (meaning no new apps/games installed in the last few days and no settings changed). Took a nap for a couple of hours and woke up to see N4 completely dead - 0% batt. Charging it now and looking at partial wakelocks etc, havn't seen anything out of the ordinary. Hopefully it doesn't occur again but in the meantime still looking for a reason why this would suddenly happen.

Yeah, am on stock JB 4.2.2, unlocked and rooted though, no other change like new roms flashed or anything. I use the stock charger and charge through mains.
I think there have been a few threads with this issue and nexus4s even prior to 4.2.2 and supposedly it was hardware. I called support while talking it through she had heard a few similar cases and it seems to be a hardware/software design issue. My wonder is how can I enforce 'never deep sleep' because my kernel doesn't seem obey.
I woke up this morning with the indicator light on but phone dead requiring reset (charged though - if not overly so). Just now it died again while sitting on my desk at 80% charge and deep sleeping again.

I've read in a few places today the stock charger has been causing a lot of the charging issues and plan to switch to my old g2's charger tonight
Just RMA'd my nexus for powering off for no reason - would do it a few times a week (and extremely buzzing earpiece - which I was living with), never had a problem putting it back on though or had issues by battery levels being eratic) did quite a bit of testing over the space of a few weeks and found it continued to do it after wiping/fomatting everything and on Stock 4.2.2 non rooted and locked BL. As far as I am concerned if its still doing it with the stock out of the box set up its a hardware fault.

Dunno about that its up to you mine was doing it 2-3 times per week. I would wipe everything including userdata, reflash stock rom and monitor before going through the rigmorole of the RMA to make sure its deffo a hardware fault. Biggest problem with the RMA is the fact they put a hold on your credit/debit card for the price of the phone. So basically if you don't have the funds available you are shafted (I think you would have to send off to LG in that case).
I got the same problem ..just that my n4 back cracked while was charging :-\
maybe you should try to flash other kernel and rom if you cant solve this issus. if your N4 is unrooted then just bring it to LG store, you got warranty rite ?
Since last week I am experiencing a really strange behavior of my battery.
Sometimes my phone (in a random app) just vibrates, the screen goes black and then it reboots. After the reboot I have lost 40-50% battery life. Sometimes the phones isn't even able to complete the reboot because it spontaneously has too little power left. See attached screenshots.
Has anybody had similar problems? Or knows a solution?
About my setup: The problem seems to be not rom or kernel related. It occurs no matter what rom or kernel setting I am using. Currently I am running coool boy's 4.3 GE witch KT's kernel (no OC or UV).
Is it possible that the battery is physically damaged? I have NO IDEA...

I've seen the same sort of graph on my old i9000. You're not gonna like this, but it got worse over time, and eventually my battery wouldn't last more than 5 mins. I thought buying a new battery would help, but it didn't. When I sent it in to Samsung they said they would have to replace the entire motherboard...
I think it's got something to do with the motherboard not being able to correctly sense the battery voltage/whatever/%. The phone reboots automatically because it thinks the battery is flat (even though it isn't).
If you're under warranty I suggest sending it in soon... Hopefully it's not the same as what I had heh.

I'll observate it for the next few days and see if it's getting worse...
If your phone is rebooting as opposed to just powering off, then I suspect it is hardware related (motherboard) as already mentioned.
I do hope I'm wrong though.
Maybe try using it for extended periods while plugged into a charger and see what happens. If it doesn't reboot then it may just be the battery.
Right as OP I'm suffering the same exact problem or there abouts. I've flashed back to stock rom, fully charged to 100% drained to 0% back to 100% yet still phone keeps shutting off randomly and the only way it works properly is with the charger plugged in. It's escalated quite badly with now after a few mins of YouTube turning itself off and not rebooting. I've requested a repair by o2 who I'm in contract with and see what will happen. I've heard crap stories about their repairs before taking it to Samsung.
I9500 owner. Had this exact same problem when using older firmware. After updating to the latest one, never had this issue again. Its been two months now, even more.
Try this. Flash the latest available firmware for you phone, not talking about OTA but the downloadable one from any region (whichever is latest for i9505). I guess it may have something to do with the kernel too.
Edit: wait a minute, why is your battery level going up when it isn't even charging in the second screenshot. Middle of the battery timeline. That's weird. I guess you should send the phone back

Hey
I am new here.
but i was looking for information becuase my s4 9505i has the same problem
shuts of almost everytime i open apps too quickly or stream youtube or some other high usage apps etc.
battery drops up to 50 percent then back 40 percent then to 0 percent, the fact it that the phone never seems to know where the battery is.
by the way my phone is not rooted and i have done the factory reset a few times.
samsung... hmmm.. they seem to be real hard to talk to on the phone, i have had to call them 4 times already about the s4 i ahve had since june, and they just play me off like i am some kind of idiot etc. and deny that there is possibly any reason for random shutdowns, phone freezing, and now this battery/motherboard issue.
next bit is kinda stupid, the phone has a few internal scratches on it from when i ahve stupidly had the phone next to keys and all that. im sure they are going to try and void my warranty and say i have mistreated the phone...
had many phones before, maybe close to 50 and never, never, never have had to ring up a company to try and complain etc.....
any ideas.
I am in Australia,
I am thinking of trying the CONSUMER AFFAIRS kind of threats, but i have to word it the right way...
So I'm on my 3rd replacement here. Long story and too many issues later WiFi issues, light bleed etc. I'm noticing an odd issue where the battery display gauge is stuck at 100%. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before so thought I'd share. I didn't root just yet but did update to 4.3.
Do you guys think I should just let it run dry or ?

So I'm on my 3rd replacement here. Long story and too many issues later WiFi issues, light bleed etc. I'm noticing an odd issue where the battery display gauge is stuck at 100%. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before so thought I'd share. I didn't root just yet but did update to 4.3.

I had a similar issue. Reboot, use consistently or run an intensive game for a few minutes, check your %. Then, do again or let it sleep for awhile. If it drains at all but then sticks after sleeping/gaming/Netflix or something, then its your motherboard, call Samsung and tell them to replace the PBA (Phone Board Assembly)

If it gets "stuck" like that again, call Samsung. Another common symptom is the Nexus 10 taking 5 to 10 seconds to wake

You know, I never considered contacting Samsung about any of the problems. The problem is adjusted, thanks again. Now I just need to get a 5gz capable router so I can at least stream
Hello everybody!
I have a Note 3 N900, 5.0, L19, dr ketan rom. This problem existed even on stock, and on stock KitKat.
I have a problem with the battery percentage. The battery percentage goes down at a rate of, for example when browsing the web on Chrome, 2%-4% a minute!
Overall, the battery life is not good during to this problem, as you guys can imagine. Tried to do a battery cycle (emptying the battery and charging to full) with no success...
Bought 2 new (!) batteries, but still, with no luck.
What the he** can be the problem if not from the ROM itself?
Thank you!

Since I had the phone, I charged it always with the original wall charger. Always. That's not the problem...

EXACT same with my s4 i9500. no matter which rom, give it official lollipop, custom roms, cm12, cm11, official 4.4, my battery sucks in all of them. my battery decreases about 2%/minute with ANDROID system being the most battery hug in battery details, in ever rom i use since couple of months back.

This is annoying.
Anyone has any idea?

i guess this is bcz of the phone itself not the battery. couple of yrs ago i had a nokia 5800, and after 6 months of use, it started to lose charge. even without using it it would stay for slightly more than 1 hour. i got it to repair center, and they tested out with new batteries, etc, and still they couldnt solve it so they exchanged it with N8. i sugges you to take it to the repair shop before the warranty ends if it hasnt ended yet. or should get a replacement unit. my s4 has 2 years of warranty btw. i also need to visit the repair shop some time.

hhhhhhh well, the warranty has already expired, but even if I had one, I couldn't get it to a repair center to fulfill my warranty, because, well, I'm rooted
Well, when the phone isn't in use, it won't lose almost much at all... It was always when the screen is on, for some reason.... The weird thing is, that I can't see anything out of the ordinary in BBS/Wakelock Detector/Battery section on settings....
Weird......

Here in Qatar they're too stupid for everything so all I need to do is install a UAE official kitkat without rooting and then giving them. Also this year on may, a hardware-wise problem happened to my Xperia tab z, and it wasn't booting up at all. I knew it was nothing to do with software, it was a hardware failure so they replaced it and it was rooted. However since jt wasnt booting up they had no way to check root. Idk if I've been cursed at or something, every device of mine needs to go to repair at least once in its lifetime. I have recently bought an HP laptop and now the screen doesn't turn off when I close the lid, it doesn't even detect the lid at all. This also hardware wise...

Replacing is not an option for me as I have no extra money to spend right now, while I can't send it to Samsung center and claim for warranty as my warranty has expired already...
No other solutions?
try a 10.000 mAh ZeroLemon battery.
i have it and it's amazing, i get around 20 hours of screen on time :good:

Can you give us more specific info about what's using your battery?
Install BetterBatteryStats and send some screenshots, this is an extreme problem I can tell. There must be something keeping your phone in full power all the time.
How hot is your device? Believe it or not, the battery gets affected extremely by heat since it Lithium-ion.
What apps do you have installed? Apps like Facebook and similar will cause consumption.
There's a lot of things that affect the battery.

Take a look at these.
I, personally, can't see anything special. Do you?
According do those screenshots you have excellent battery life! I don't even get half of that. The screen of your note 3 takes up lots of power. What I can suggest is to change you max Cpu frequency to 1490mhz and go for the intellidemand governor. The snapdragon 800 is powerful enough to run smoothly with that frequency. Try it and report back if it did any changes.

Thanks for the reply!
It wasn't like that... it was more!
But as I wrote, it's a N900, so I have the Exynos, does the frequency you suggested will change?

Oh right! I'm sorry, I missed that part. But just try to underclock your CPU a little bit and you should see a increase in battery life. Just try whatever frequency you want, the only thing that might happen is a slow device (you basically can't break the phone with underclocking, in fact, it's better for the CPU). Remember to change your governor to Intellidemand or Intellimand (can't remember the exact name).

I don't think that there are working custom kernel for the 5.0 N900... shame there's almost no more development for our phone..

i have this same **** problem
Ok, even with two new batteries and a few battery cycles with them, the percentage won't stabilize... Today the battery ran down to zero, and the phone continued to run (on 0%) for about 20 min..............
After replacing the battery, I was on 100%, dialed *#0228# and did the "RUN TEST" and the percentage went down to 23%. Dialed again and it went up to 82% and charged it. I can't seem to find a godda** solution for this problem!
What can I do to solve this?!!
