Hello,
I've tried a couple of apks of Camera NX found over the internet, they kind of work, the camera starts but I only see a black image, after I change a couple of options in settings I can see images from the camera normally but if I try to take pictures the camera freezes, is there a port or a working Camera NX?
Thanks.
there is no support for any Google Camera for now without rooting your device.
Are you rooted? Since Camera NX is a google camera port, you would need to enable Camera2 API in order to use it.
IMO, you may as well peruse these options found on this page
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
They also need the Camera 2 API enabled but at least you get to choose the different versions of google camera.
I'm not rooted but I'm thinking of doing it, do you think this version will work if I do that?

Just made a comparison. Google portrait is better in low light.
No, I thought it will work without, I will do that in the near future when I will root my device, thanks for the support

https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Download "MGC-5.1.018_FullManual_v1.2_Android-7.0+" that version is working vor me. You have to enable portrait mode manually in Settings:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog24/
You have to activate portrait shooting mode as an extra mode (like time lapse for example). Note that its until now only processing actual faces, not objects.
That version is working fine on my stock ROM.
Edit: Before someone asks: No, front facing camera is not working in this version.
Does someone tried this? Is it working?
And if it does - do you just install the apk or do U need to flash it via twrp?
THanks in advance
Regards

It's amazing. Takes wonderful pictures.
Sent from my LG-H870 using XDA Labs
G6 pixel 2 portrait mode
Hey guys, the link provided does not work for me.
Hi, tried google camera ported by scrubber. Its really stable and portraits are really good.
Got it from youtube link below. It workd flawlessly on Indian unit H870DS unit.
Stable Google cam port for LG G6 7.0
Also for BSG google camera port, below is the video for stable settings on LG G6, tried this one also but front cam portrait is not working on LG G6 in BSG port.
BSG port stable settings
del
There is a fully stable all feature packed google camera port for our lg g6 device
This is second version
Changelog:
HDR+ settings quality
Code optimization
Features-:
Portrait mode works on front and rear camera
Front and rear hdr+ works
No force closes
No random crashes
Great speed in both hdr+ and portrait mode processing
Super stable. :good:
A developer named scrubber developed this.

If these features can be done purely via the software, you wonder why LG can't implement something similar... but then we have no news on oreo so that might be too much to ask.
Amazing quality! (uses scrubber port)
I compared stock and Google camera and the result is obvious.
Not only in quality but also in filesize (with same pixel count of course...):
Stock = 6.260 KB
Google = 3.805 KB
https://ibb.co/mX28mm
(zoomed in, took screenshot and saved with 100% jpg quality)
Ho do you use portrait mode with the rear camera? It works with the front, but don't get the options with the rear.

Any way to find it an update is out for it?
Can Someone Port Portrait Mode Enabled Google Camera For Nougat Custom ROMs ?
I doubt if it's possible or not as of now. Google camera which is present for Oreo ROMs is possible only because it follows the 64 bit architecture. As nougat ROMs goes for 32 bit architecture even now, it's not possible, unless someone ports the Google camera itself, which again after 3.x version I've not seen
Thanks!! For info..
But there is a app named Fabby.. Wich works well for selfie but bug in rear camera
Yeah many other apps might do the same trick,!

?????
I did try gcam... it starts but potrait mode crashes... hdr+ might work fine... i never clicked a pic, cz i am not very image friendly! however, the mode can be switched on..
I installed linage 15.1, 64 bit, android 8.1 and tried nearly all cameras but all camera are crashing.
I think it's due to the ROMs not supporting stock camera app. So no portrait mode for us!

I tried several ports. While the mode can be switched on, taking a photo doesn't process HDR+ and the outcome of the image is either green (Every second picture taken is green) or is a normal SDR picture.

I've tried both AICP and Pixel and couldn't get working portrait mode..
Using 32bits ROM will NEVER make us possible to use portrait mode. On other chance, using 64bits Rom there is a CHANCE it'll work in the future.

I'm going back to InvictaOS. Oreos ROM aren't optimized yet. Give it a month
Just for information:
The portrait mode is just a software feature that makes the background blurry. So take a picture and use any photo editor out there and make a mask with blurry background for example. Or use photo apps that can make this.
Phones without telephoto lens or without an big sensor won't be capable of making this without software tricks. And even then you need some distance between the object and background to get blurry background. That's called a low depth of field.
Anyone got it working?

...Look at the previous replies holy crap.
have patience! remember we still have only stock nougat so oreo ROMs are going to be buggy... 64 bit ROMs will go better... and will be useful ones they are stable.. i did notice that they are more fluid than others...but that's just my observation or my way to use it.
There will be more things that you might come across...ones things are good
You can also use normal Gcam with lens blur feature... it does the same thing and is very stable. The portrait mode was in pixel given the fact its camera has wide aperture and hence the portrait mode is effect is created. hence its price!

if you really want to take good pictures! use Invicta OS hal3 version and the stock moto camera app.. it does great job!
